To be quite honest I would skip these, the rolls are not all that special. I have had rolls similar to these and for free when I've dined at other places. We also ordered the roasted butternut goat cheese and it was good. For our entrees I had the Dorset burger and my girlfriend had the buttermilk fried chicken. Both of our entrees were delicious. The burger was served with bacon, and cheddar cheese. I also had some sweet potato fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and it tasted very good. My girlfriend really enjoyed her chicken, she said it was fried perfectly, it was very moist. To end the night we had the chocolate pecan pie! I highly recommend the pie. It was perfect.

Fortunately one of our party said something and sure enough, there was a very nice corner table in a nice dining room in the back part of the house, away from the bar. Barrow House is a nice, fairly upscale, American menu. The tables were just far enough apart so we could hear one another without shouting. Barrow House is part of a collection of inns and restaurants in Dorset. It's sister establishment, the Dorset Inn, is just a hundred or so yards away at the town crossroads. I'd eaten at the Dorset Inn, but years earlier and have never been to the Barrow House. The menu was a pleasant collection of interesting choices in ample portions. We ordered the fig pizza for the table. I had some very fine oysters; some chowder was enjoyed, and we were intrigued and came thisclose to having the tuna nachos. Maybe next time. Wine by the glass and two Green State lagers, which for my order of the wagyu beef burger, that came with plenty of fries, enough to share with the table, was perfect. All in all, a pleasant and delicious meal was had by all. It's a fine gastropub, as it is called. You can sit in the bar and watch sports (something I would never EVER do, but chacona son gout!) Or you can have a fun table with friends in the dining room. The service was professional and gracious. From where we live, it's a reasonable drive. Probably one of the, if not the best places to eat within that radius. And we would eat there again. [It was good enough that no pix taken]

Situated in a refurbished former library building, the Silver Fork's setting, decor, and dining experience is indeed textbook flawless. Inside the upscale eatery evokes mid-century Moderne, a setting for the once popular Madmen TV period drama series; tony, chic, but hardly ostentatious and overbearing. On the contrary the high ceilings, lighting and space combine to offer that frozen glimpse of earlier elegance but alongside very contemporary culinary offerings. Table spacing accentuates a good use of space. We started with a "Rubies are Forever" Pomegranate cocktail with Pomegranate boba. The menu is large but not overbearing; a good mix of meats, legumes and fish. Equally the starters are enticing. French Onion soup is amazing but on this occasion we both chose the Duck egg roll with a special peanut sauce. Simply extraordinary and with generous duck portions. For an entree, my wife chose Mahi Mahi Fish, beautifully prepared over plantain. Despite being tempted by a brisket with horseradish sauce, the evening special, I chose the Ratatouille. Why? Prepared properly, this is often hard to find. The Chef's presentation of the southern French staple, was beautifully interpreted, accompanied with some goat cheese. We accompanied our meal with a glasses of red wine. For desert we shared the incomparable Caribbean Bread Pudding which is always a hit here. Allow to me to say our server Lynn showed a genuine experience both in the menu and wine list along with a pleasant disposition. We equally had the opportunity to chat with Melody the co-owner who, along with her husband Chef Mark, described their culinary Odyssey before coming to Vermont years ago to establish Silver Fork. Silver Fork presents a genuine chef-prepared culinary experience both in terms of cuisine as well as ambiance and flawless service. We'll be back!

First I must comment on the beautiful job that the owners had performed in transforming this Library into to a paradise for eating. Tables are spaced far enough apart that you feel that you are having a private dining experience. The art work is beautiful and arranged tastefully. The wait staff are courteous and respectful. You can tell that this is an upscale restaurant as soon as as you are seated. The food is the best I have ever had. I have dined in many Michelin starred restaurants but the food at The Silver Fork is beyond reproach. I must say that the cocktails are on the same level as the food served. After all that, the waitress returned and asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu without apologizing about our meal. Very unprofessional. We declined, paid the check, and left the bare minimum tip, which we never do. We don't blame the waitress for the food, but for her service technique and disinterest in her patrons' needs. Oh, they didn't charge us for my husband's meal but lacked the courtesy to tell us in person. Needless to say, despite the charming atmosphere, excellent salad bar, and incredible appetizers, we will not return. Maybe the chef had an off night, but what excuse did the staff have?
