Genuinely came with high hopes, the menu looked so good that I was planning on dining here lunch and dinner as I was visiting nearby farms/shops which recommended this... but lunch was horrible. Mainly attributable to SERVICE which was HORRIFYING!! Ambiance was charming home setting outdoors and rustic wood vibe indoors. The food was average/iffy. Garlic peppercorn steak was encrusted with a layer of seasoning and yet it wasn't that seasoned in terms of flavor, was just ok. Ordered medium and yet it looked black on the outside and medium rare inside and beyond tough - I could not even cut the steak, I ended up just ended eating the whole thing straight up. So strange and not worth $30 at all. The Idaho skins were good just wish the potatoes were crispier. The signature applewood smoked wings were so overpriced and terrible. I could not taste any flavor, it tasted like boiled wings expensive 6 for $18. The worst part: service, or rather lack thereof.!! Upon entering, we waited awhile for someone to come greet and seat us and seemed to judge us when we clarifying what tavern was when we were asked if we wanted tavern or dining room. We were seated and took a LONG time until finally our server came to take our order. Then took an even longer time to get our food almost 20minutes. The other table that got seated after us the order the same wings at the same time, got their food 10 minutes earlier than us and their server was present throughout the meal . Ours just was nowhere to be seen throughout the entire time. Finally the food came, we ate quick, and asked for the check. We couldn't even find our server to get the check! The other table has already gotten the check and signing the bill. We then got up and tried to flag down our waiter to for the check and takeout box and after a long time she gave them but disappeared again for a long time so we tried to flag her down, again, so we could actually pay. When we did, she rudely said "do you see the things im carrying? can you wait?" Mind you, we have been waiting for nearly another 20 minutes after we finished eating for any appearance from the waiter. We tried asking the other waiter who was actually present if we could but said we needed to get our actual server. We finally finished the whole transaction (20min waiting for food, 20min spent flagging down the waiter for the check/giving the money), and frustrated we wasted so much time here while on a trip for just OK food, we just left because the server then disappeared AGAIN after settling our bill. Hilariously enough, the only time she seemed to care about us was when we left and she went RUNNING after us to ask us "you did not tip enough, did I do something wrong?" in a rude and fake overly concerned way. After we briefly explained, she proceeds to loudly shame us saying "you supposed to tip me xyz because I provide you a service and if not you're really disrespectful". The audacity. Service was beyond horrible!!! and still demanding higher tips calling customers disrespectful when we did nothing but wait and get yelled at by her for not waiting even longer and still needing to directly pay her extra tips. During that scolding we got, we saw her name tag: Avery. Overall: Foods ok. LONG WAIT for food and check. Horrifying service by one server: Avery. Perhaps other servers were better like the one who took care of the table who sat down at the same time and left 20 minutes earlier meanwhile our service was way slower, not as friendly, demanding tips, and public scolds/shames customers for it. This experience totally soured my impression of this place and now I'm questioning why people even recommended this place to me and why I went along with it! read more

Not a welcoming experience at all today. We were escorted to our table by a rather prickly hostess, which set the tone right away. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes before our server arrived--she was actually very pleasant--but unfortunately things didn't improve from there. After placing our drink order, we waited 25 minutes and never received it. During that time, multiple staff members walked by, glanced at our table, and kept going without checking in. Perfect sports bar/pub scene! We had the option of eatting in the more quiet family friendly dining area or in the bar area. We opted for the bar area and it was a fun atmosphere! A lot of sports memorabilia and live sports on tv. It did get a bit loud since it was pretty packed but not a problem for two people at a small table. They had a hugeee beer tap list taking up two full pages on their drink menu! It was awesome to enjoy some new beers from local breweries we hadn't tried just yet. We will be back! read more

Mulligan's has decent pub fare. I wanted to experiment so I tried the New England lobster and artichoke quesadillas. The lobster was soft and paired well with the artichoke. However, the quesadilla dough itself was too crunchy and bloated me up. Also, my friend asked for a hot chocolate and received a mug full of hot water and two powdered hot cocoa packets. There's a big sign notifying customers there is a 4% surcharge if you pay with a credit card, so they provide an ATM near the restrooms for those who want to pay cash. We had an enjoyable lunch here. The calamari was basic and previously frozen as the pieces were uniform, as was the rest of the meal, but tasted good. Service was ok--we were seated in a corner of the bar and although it wasn't busy our waitress wasn't very present; I think she forgot about us. Can I give mulligans a higher rating than 5??? This is certainly one of the best places that I have eaten in quite some time. Yesterday I had the Ahi tuna. Now this was perfectly seasoned seared h then chilled. Placed on a variety of greens with an amazing (mild) wasabi dip. Today I got the cottage pie (aka shepherd's pie). I just loved it the presentation was spectacular it tasted great and was way too much for one. Still worth every bit of the cost. Great environment and super service like we are best friends!!! My husband I went here for a drink only so I can't speak about the food. It seemed like a lot of regulars at the bar so it was a little wait to order and get the check, as the bartender was very friendly with them, which is fine. The drinks we got were yummy and strong! My husband had a dirty martini and I had the French martini. A negative would be that a guy (regular?) next to me made a racist comment to 2 women also seated at the bar. I wasn't previously paying attention to their conversation but had seen them interacting so I was unsure if they possibly knew each other and this was their banter. If they did know each other, it was still inappropriate, but it made me hesitant to speak up. With a name like Mulligan's, you would certainly expect this to be what it is. No pretense with a very pub style atmosphere, but you know that going in. The food large quantities and for the most part pretty decent lots of beer and wine to choose from if that's your thing. Service is usually decent t to good especially when the wait person is chatty. Not overly so, but enough to keep us and them engaged. Great outdoor eating area out front with a nicely done garden adjacent to the sidewalk, so if you are ok with cars and people going by, it's nice out there. This has become an ol' "standby" for us. Again do t expect high brow cuisine but the pub food is good and plentiful. read more

We settled on this place for lunch after exploring the land of covered bridges from Shushan & Salem, NY to Arlington, VT.(Tue 10/22/24). We visited & photographed 5 on this exploration. The building is a bit worn, but it's comfortable like a well worn pair of blue jeans. No pretensions here. Note: no reservations. Big bar & very roomy for dining. Full house for a Tuesday - regulars & visitors (note: exceptional fall foliage brings lotsa of tourists to this area). Let's get to the good stuff. Found seats at the bar. Friendly bartender, Scott R took our drink order & brought menus. Lot to choose from the full service bar - 12 Indie draft beers, 15 "Brews in the Tin" (cans), 15 bottled beers, hard seltzers, wine, etc. Something for every taste. I had a local favorite Switchback ale ($8) & my co-pilot had a pinot grigio ($10.25). My lunch was a Really Great Burger ($16) 8 oz w/ cheese, LTO, FFs. She ahs a small Caesar salad w/ chix ($18) - not small at all. Good value for lunch. One menu for lunch and dinner. Lotsa choices from apps to substanial entrees. This place is popular with the locals all year round. Plenty of parking. Hours: Every day 12pm-12am, kitchen 12pm-8pm. Again a good first impression. Food was not good at all. Nobody in our group liked their food. The "crispy" wings were chewy, bready and soggy. They tastes exactly like a tyson anytizer frozen wing. Steak was tough, mashed potatoes were very mediocre. I ordered it medium rare and they did cook it to the right temp. The burgers the people I was with ordered were dry and tasted frozen. Staying overnight in Manchester on a ski trip so I was looking for a place to grab dinner and Mulligan's came up on my Yelp search. Located just outside the center of town on Main Street Mulligan's is a nice welcoming pub. I ate in the bar area which has plenty of sports memorabilia and a casual vibe. The menu is standards with plenty of seafood. I ordered two appetizers, the Lobster and Asparagus Quesadilla and the Calamari. Portions were generous, especially for the prices. The Calamari was nicely battered and fried both rings and tentacles with a side of mild marinara sauce; nice but nothing special. The Lobster and Asparagus Quesadilla was very tasty with good flavors and sided with guacamole, sour cream and salsa. Service was good and the waitress was very helpful. Overall a good meal with tasty food, generous portions and reasonable prices. The only nit was that when the bill came there was a 4% charge if you want to use a credit card; not unreasonable, but it should be on the menu not as a surprise when the meal is over. read more

This is not just an Irish pub. The menu is much broader than that and has some very high-quality dishes on it. You can get your burgers and fish and chips here, sure, but you can also get a lobster roll and various seafood dishes too. They have a giant drink menu and plenty of tables, not all of which revolve around the bar, so whatever you're in the mood for they can accommodate it here. As others have said, they don't take reservations, so plan ahead since it does get busy in the evenings. read more

I've stayed at the Taconic for years, but have never gone to Mulligan's, mainly because of the just okay Yelp reviews that they have. During this trip, especially paired with just okay weather, having somewhere that was right across the street from the hotel was definitely ideal, so we decided to give Mulligan's a try. Looking at other reviews, it seems that they may be under new management which tracks with our experience, because we went to Mulligan's 3 times over the 4 nights we spent in Manchester. As a note, we only sat at the bar each time, so I can't speak to the experience sitting at a table. The space inside Mulligan's is made up of a bunch of different rooms with an outdoor seating area as well that overlooks Main Street. The bar area is HUGE, with a horseshoe shaped bar with a lot of seats and a TON of beers on tap (also Espolon margaritas on tap that is both an amazing and dangerous discovery). The menu is a lot of bar food and we went in with that expectation, however we were PLEASANTLY surprised by not only the portion size but the variety and quality of food. I LOVE good bar food, but this was REALLY good and the menu had something for everyone from lobster rolls on special (~$30 which is a really good deal) to burgers and sandwiches to steaks, fish and chips, tons of apps, and a variety of salads. My favorites included the nachos which was a VERY aggressive order for one (could have easily been split by 4!), the Erin's Asiago sandwich (OH MY GOD, this was a vegetarian sandwich that had spinach, sautéed onions, tomato, and cheddar cheese served on a warm Asiago bread that was to DIE FOR), and my personal favorite (which makes more sense under the context that I was banged up when ordering) - the mashed potato flatbread, which was literally a flatbread with garlic mashed potatoes and Gruyere cheese. Holy shit I regreted absolutely nothing about devouring it and did not have a hangover the next morning, so I'm considering that to be the magic hangover cure. The vibe was really fun too - we went at varying points of the day, from lunchtime where it was a little quieter (though Wednesday is apparently their very busy day) to nighttime when the bar was packed but some of the locals helped us secure/lockdown seats and were a lot of fun to chat with and hang with for a bit. It was such a friendly vibe and all of the bartenders helped to foster that kind of welcoming environment as well, which we all really appreciated! Wanda at the bar was an absolute sweetheart each time we saw her and we really appreciated her positive energy and vibes - as well as fast service! All in all I'm bummed that Mulligan's was something I overlooked for so many years because it was SUCH a great vibe with unexpectedly DELICIOUS food and a great overall vibe! (Plus, margaritas on tap and MASHED POTATO FLATBREAD... which paired well after margaritas on tap). read more

I've eaten at a lot of bad places, but this one takes the cake - and not in a good way. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the smell of what can only be described as a mix between wet socks and burnt rubber. It's the kind of scent that makes you question your life choices. The ambiance? Don't even get me started. It was like they took the most uncomfortable chairs they could find, slapped a fluorescent light on top, and called it decor. The staff was atrocious. Overall, this was an experience l'd rather forget. The only thing l'll be recommending is that you do yourself a favor and steer clear. Don't remember the name of the drink but it had bourbon and maple syrup. Too heavy with the maple syrup. Service was subpar. One bartender working however it was not busy. My salad came and I had to wait to ask for utensils. Burger and tenders were decent; nothing I'd come back for. Menu said drink was $11.50 however when the bill came the drink was $13.50. Disappointing, offensive, and unjust. Mulligan's is an establishment that does not care about their patron's. A lack of compassion and disinterest are the only qualities the staff exerted. Myself, my family, and my closest friends went to Mulligan's hoping for a wonderful and welcoming experience. Instead, we were greeted with a foul atmosphere and sour expressions. Feeling more like an inconvenience, rather than valued customers, we paid our bill and left in a befuddled state with heavy hearts. In the mood for a burger, I chose their highly touted "Really Great Burger"and was disappointed as it was as pedestrian as could be. Sunday football calls for a sports bar! Stopped in with family for a small lunch and some drinks mid day on Sunday. The menu has a lot of local beer on tap as well as some hot alcoholic beverages. A few of us had beer and one had the spiked hot cider. Onto the food, we spilt the nachos and the smoked chicken wings. The nachos are large! They come vegetarian but have the option to add chicken. They came out pipping hot and meaty cheese loaded with toppings. They come with a side of salsa, guacamole and sour cream you can add on as you wish. We spilt them among the four of us and it was more than enough to share. The chicken wings were AMAZING! They are slow smoked and flash fried before they make it to the table. So tasty you can taste the Smokey wood flavor. Would highly recommend for a Buffalo wing substitute. Service was quick and easy. Water glasses were frequently filled throughout our stay. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area for some afternoon food and drinks! read more

I've been going to Mulligan's for years. The burgers, wings and beer are good. Service is pleasant. But they have instituted a 4% surcharge on credit card payments! First, I resent any business charging a CC surcharge, it's a cost of doing business, like utilities, rent and cost of goods sold. Build it into your pricing! But Mulligan's 4% is way above the processing fees charged by most credit card companies. It's a total rip-off. read more

We drove up from Capital District NY on a Sunday. The German restaurant was closed at lunchtime. There was another "sports bar" that wasn't open on a Sunday in football season. So we ended up at Mulligans, thank the lord. I had clam chowder, fish n chips, and various pints of microbrewed beer. My wife had the cottage pie. The food is amazing! We have great restaurants where we live, but I just want to go back to Mulligans. It was that good. read more

Second time eating here, was delicious again! My teen aged granddaughters ordered the Chicken Wings, and said they were delicious! Plenty of meat on them, and cooked perfect! They also got Clam Chowder and wished they had ordered a bowl instead of a cup. They said it was delicious! My son ordered a Cheeseburger which he said was delicious, came with a nice heap of fries. I got the Spanakopita which was delicious, nice and crispy, and a generous side salad. No complaints at all. We sat outside, and I didn't get the name of our waitress, but she was very good and attentive. My only complaint is that when I called the next day because my granddaughters wanted a repeat order to go, I was told they weren't doing take out orders. We will definitely be back!! read more

Started off with an appetizer of quality fried calamari. The shrimp in the quesadilla were quite sweet. Diced poblano peppers added just the right amount of heat and additional flavor. Included a side of sour cream, salsa and a guacamole-type of dressing. The roasted pork-style ramen bowl was well seasoned with a variety of vegetables. Very satisfying. We've been coming to Mulligans for many many years. Always a good meal. Things changed when ownership changed a few years back and we were disappointed. But on our trip this week to Vermont we tried them again and they have definitely stepped up their game. Food has definitely improved and the staff seems to have settled in. Clam chowder is a favorite and their steaks are great as well. I would definitely recommend giving them a try if you're in town. read more
