Everything about the Killarney screams Irish pub - from the decor, the vibe and the menu. We came in on a Saturday night post-snowboarding at Okemo after getting turned away at the Loft because they were at full capacity. The host quoted a really long wait time but we actually got seated an hour earlier than what was estimated - score! While we were waiting I got to try one of the alcoholic hot chocolates at the bar that warmed my soul. We got seated in a separate main dining area away from the bar. Our server was very friendly and efficient even on a super busy night like the one we came on. Once our food came we all agreed - best Irish pub food we've ever had! The chicken wings were super crispy as well as the fish and chips. I normally don't care for corned beef and cabbage, but it tasted better here than where ever I've had it in the past and the shepherd's pie filling was juicy with a lot of flavor. The perfect pours of Guinness and live music were the icing on top. Highly recommend this place if you're hanging around the Ludlow area!

It's been a hot minute since I've been here but treating myself to a birthday meal after two long days of skiing powder here at Okemo. My last meal I had the pot roast, went with the beef stew today and was filling! Wasn't a fan of the mushrooms but they are healthy so I dealt with them. Was going to take a carrot cake home for later but they were out so going with the cheesecake.

Very good wings and Sheppards pie. Pots of gold appetizers were good too. Fries were solid. Guinness was good. Service a tad on the slow side but the restaurant is cozy and we had a good time Highly recommend the competition sauce for the wings

A group of five, sat almost instantly at 5:30. The place filled in with a mix of locals and apres skiers. Our waitress got us drinks right away, and put in an app order while we checked out the vast menu. The food arrived and all of us wondered how we would get through our ample portions. Ha, no problems because it was all delicious! So hearty and satisfying! Musician arrived in small groups and then we had live music in front of a fireplace. If I had any complaints it would be the noice but that's more a reflection of my age than the restaurant.

Being from the south, we have learned to order food from the region we visit. So when visiting The Killarney we knew how to order. So we ordered the pot roast and Shepards pie. It was so good. We added a little Tabasco sauc(from our area) and it elevates it even more. The service was great. Our waitress was fantastic. The ambiance was very Irish pub. We are so glad we ate there.

I don't ask for a lot in my Irish pubs. But over the years, this place has worked its way into my heart. And a recent visit showed why it remains one of the top places to stop in town or apres ski. I came by on a Wednesday night and the bar area was humming. I sat at the bar and got a fantastic Black and Tan with both Guinness and Smithwicks. Proper start. And really who wants a fancy IPA on a cold winter night. Give me some stout and an ale. I then went for the chicken pot pie. I don't know if I was just hungry or I haven't been eating out as much but I could not stop eating this dish! The pastry was perfect and the filling a great consistency without being too soggy. The bartender was efficient and the kitchen effective. Plus I got to watch the winter Olympics. Watching curling seemed appropriate. Here's a toast to Killarney! Keeps getting better with age!

We ate here in January. Was not impressed with the food or service. Who makes fish tacos on flour tortillas?

MacLaomainn's Scottish Pub - Steak Pie

Hubby reported his roast beef sandwich was great although the roast beef looked overcooked to me. What was dubious, however, were the French fries. They had a sort of mealy texture and a very odd taste--I thought they used coconut oil to fry but hubby thinks they coated them with baking soda, then fried. Either way I wasn't a fan.

The inside is charming and has that old wooden bar smell that I like. This would be a great place to grab a drink on a cold winter day. Very Scottish, lol. We were seated immediately for our 6:30 dinner reservation. We each ordered appetizers, which took nearly 45 minutes to arrive, even the cup of soup. Mozzarella sticks were nothing special, the cheddar tomato soup was really tasty. My mother in law loved the cock-a-leekie soup, and my father in law liked his scotch egg. It took another 20-25 minutes for our entrees to arrive. For a restaurant that closes at 8 pm, it was surprising at how long the food took to come out. They must have a very small kitchen. Everyone in our group liked their meal. My "loaded vegetarian baked potato" was just a full cup of sour cream and cheese on top of a potato with lukewarm broccoli on the side. A bit disappointing, with there were at least chives or seasoning. Basically nothing else vegetarian on the menu so this was what I was stuck with. Desserts were good, especially the sticky toffee pudding. I would call this place a step above average in the area, but service leaves a lot to be desired.

We were promptly seated by a pleasant hostess, and greeted by our waiter Hunter (who couldn't have been nicer). The atmosphere is exactly what you might expect: family-friendly, BUSY, and loud in the best way with the sounds of folks having a good time and great food. Speaking of the food, OMG! I heard the onion rings were off the chart, and they are: giant crispy rings with soft onions, and a breading that holds the ring together but is crunchy, light and amazing. Easily the best rings I've ever had. We ordered delicious burgers which were cooked perfectly, and totally balanced with veg and condiments. It really was a perfect burger. The tots were dusted with cheese and rosemary powder. Incredible. It's not really the kind of spot we are able to get to on the regular, but if we are up in that neck of the woods again, it's a must-do. If I were a local, you can bet I would be a frequent flyer. Don't miss out on fantastic food and a great time.

The tables are superbly clean. The bathrooms are scrupulously spotless. The bar is perfectly curated and organized. A health inspector here would be sorely disappointed. Cleanest venue I've seen in a long time. The service lacked, however. Right after being ushered to our table with a beautiful outside view, the young waitress started yapping interminably on personal issues with a couple she obviously knew two tables away. We were forgotten. Finally after a good 15 minutes, one of us went to the bar to get menus. The bar waitress came out and bought us menus and gave the young lady a look.... Then the taps were out so in an Irish pub, no slow-poured Guinness. I did get it in the bottle and then had to send the waitress to get a cold glass. Lunch came. Delicious Chicken Moher and my other half a delicious Club Sandwich. Yum The lunch was very good. I would have given five stars. But the initial reception with a lackadaisical waitress tells me that although the pub may be outstanding, they need some better training for their wait staff.

Kathleen's Irish Pub - Great food and nice people

A dear friend just bought a condo near Newfound Lake and needed to attend the HOA meeting, so we decided to join with them afterwards and they searched the food offerings and came up with Kathleen's Irish Pub. Arriving at the place we noticed a sizable parking area although I am sure it's on overflow at St. Patty's Day. For a first timer, the premises used to be a hardware store so there are several doors and although the one that seems to be the main door, is not. The entrance is towards the front and there is a ramp to the main door Entering the Pub, there is an ample bar area and the food area is towards the left, facing Main Street. We were warmly greeted by a wonderful hostess whose demeanor and customer care was the best I've seen in a long time. We began the afternoon festivities with, of course, Guinness, certainly slow poured, which is good for you. My other half had their Harviestoun Old Engine Oil, creamy and tasty. The next course we had was their Giant Pretzel. Really giant. Baby Huey giant. It served as the appetizer for four of us. We got it with both, homemade beer cheese dipping sauce and the Irish Whiskey Dipping sauce. Both sauces are delicious, really so. Then they brought out the main courses; I had their delicious fish and chips. Perhaps one of the best, tastiest, crispy pieces of fish I've ever had. My spouse ordered the Galway Girl, a true half pound prime Black Angus burger topped by Swiss cheese and fried cheddar curds, poblano dressing and chips. The mix of the fried curds and meat and sauce was amazingly tasty. Another friend had the Boxty, basically a potato pancake filled with a delicious chicken stew. The quality of the food was amazing. Really so. But that wasn't enough, we ordered both, their Bread Pudding, and their Sticky Toffee Pudding. The Bread Pudding was amazing, but the Sticky Pudding was unequaled. I am glad we shared the dessert among four people... At the end of the lunch, the owner came in and engaged us in conversation. Affable, full of energy, friendly, and she knows the path of excellence where she's taking the place. We learned a second pub is planned for Franklin. If it is anywhere near the quality of Kathleen's, Franklin will have one superb eatery. Absolutely recommended.
