It is a really nice dive in bar to hangout till quite late at night. Both bartender and the guy at the food counter were very nice to us. They accommodated our late night, close to the kitchen closing time, order. You can play darts, pool etc. We were here for happy hour earlier that night. Keene has a small downtown and there are not many places that serve vegetarian food, or have anything vegetarian on the menu at all. This place had a decent number of vegetarian appetizers at a really good price during happy hour. Interiors are also quite intriguing. Killers is the best but if you're reading this and have never been there, you might not agree. I love it because I know I can always go and know someone (or everyone) there and everyone who works there is one of my favorite people. If they don't know you they might not be that nice because hey, maybe you suck. They have great specials all the time and Harp which is my favorite beer on tap! Hooray! All I've eaten here is chicken fingers and I will probably keep it that way but hey, chicken fingers are great. I waltzed in and it was a dream come true, all drinks were $1 (because it was Sun and the spining wheel of prices landed on $1!!!), Magic Hat #9 (the best beer ever) on tap, there was fooze ball and darts, the music was cute, locals abound including that guy with the pink devil beard and goth clothes. I liked how on Saturday nights the hot dog place next door was open too and serves veggie dogs. I had a mental picture of what New Hampshire would be like since this was my first visit and Kilkenny Pub sort of confirmed all the good things in my Keene illusions. However the bar next door, Railroad tavern confirmed all of the bad things in my Keene illusion-so stay away from that place! My only complaint was when KORN came on the jukebox and everyone but me seemed happy about that. I am just not a KORN fan. read more

Bartender and crony patrons were beyond rude. My table seemed to be the only ones paying for drinks. 5 guys at the bar who were in the "club" drank for free. A great dive bar. Love to play darts there. Good variety of beers on tap. Fun to read the graffiti in the restroom and on the tables. I drew the cock fight one. Food is frozen pub fare, deep fried. It seems that most of the bars in Keene are largely patronized by college students, but the Kilkenny is an exception. They seem to cater to mostly locals. It has a kind of dive bar feel, but without the sticky floors and the disgusting bathrooms. Beer prices are good ($4) and they have some excellent crafts and imports (including Kilkenny and Smithwicks). They also do some bar food but we didn't try it so I couldn't tell you how it is. CASH ONLY! There is an ATM inside. If you want to smoke there are tables and chairs outside the door for hanging out and working on your lung cancer. The pub stays mostly free of the college kids and hosts more of the locals and year round residents of Keene. They have a great open mic night. Good & cheap beers. Ah Killers. This bar has wicked cheap pool tables, a ping pong table, some arcade machines and great beer. They usually have some standard beer on tap, with a bunch of rotating beers. Their well drinks are pretty good as well. When ever friends and I are back in Keene we say "Want to go to the bar" and 95% of the time, "the bar" is Kilkenny's. I have met so many new friends while here, and reconnected with old ones. I find people are more social here than any other bar in town, except maybe the ones that focus on pool. This is my all time favorite bar, and the only reason I am taking one star off is that they only accept cash, it's a pain when you only bring a couple bucks and have to run out to the bank. They do however have an ATM but there is a surcharge as usual. read more

Arrived around 11:30 on a Friday night looking for bar food, the kitchen was closed but they suggested we ordered Dominoes. We became everyone's best friend by 1am. Killers is fun. While I haven't had their food, I can say their beer is affordable and the atmosphere is chill. I enjoy sitting at the bar or a booth watching sports and chilling with friends. Lots of pong tournaments - the crowd is a mix of the college kids and freaky, greasy local kids from some of the shitty little villages outside Keene like Swanzey or Marlborough. A perfect mix of college bliss and terrific townies, this place is by far the best beer blaster in Keene. Now boasting a full-bar, Killkenny's is the place to go if you're in the mood for some games. As far as bars in Keene go, Killers is by far one of the best. I don't consider it a dive bar, but I am told it has been re-done in the past couple of years and was spruced up a bit. The drinks are cheap (especially on Wheel nights) and there is a small but relatively good selections of beer. Thank goodness you aren't allowed to smoke in NH anymore! I can finally enjoy Kilkenny's without leaving there smelling like an ashtray! This bar seems to attract mostly locals, with Keene State College arts students (Film especially) thrown in the mix, for some very odd reason that I don't quite understand. This is the kind of place that my friends usually head to first to grab some decently priced beer, then head over to other bars afterwards, because the atmosphere isn't very inviting. Kilks is the perfect bar if your in the mood for cheap beer, darts, and pool. Usually populated by the perfect mix of college students, art kids, hipsters, bikers, scoundrels, townies, and pirates. The outdoor seating area is perfect for those who want enjoy the weather or smoke without leaving their beer behind. I can never seem to get here earlier enough to try the food, but there is a large beer selection, and the cheapest guiness in town. The only bar in Keene worth my time and money. The staff are a no nonsense, family type group who don't put up with behavior that makes everyone uncomfortable. i never write reviews but for this place, i felt i needed to. the bar itself would get 5 stars from me- it was big, played good music, & is definitely the nicest looking bar in Keene. it's quite unfortunate that the bar tender (unsure of his name) really killed the entire experience for me & my girl friends. we tried to make conversation with the man, & even asked for some drink suggestions. he kept shutting us down saying "none" when we asked which drink is the best, etc. after hanging outside a bit (we literally each had ONE drink), i went back in to buy my friends & i a round of shots. i asked the bar tender which shots he recommends & he refused to serve me the shots. i could understand this if i was hammered or acting out, my friends & i do like to have our fun but we were honestly just having a fun chill night. he said something along the lines of "you've been drinking all night, i'm not giving you any shots" so i said "i can't get anything?" & he again just said he will not give me shots. i ended up just saying ok thanks & going back outside because it wasn't worth arguing over. i was confused & so turned off by this because he had no idea what else i did that night or how much i drank. i respect the hell out of bartenders who do this when someone had too much, but in my opinion he just did it to be a dick. it was a really weird experience but i think i'd go back because the bar is awesome. maybe we just went during a bad time. read more

With this bar you really have to know what you walking into. It's pretty dirty and doesn't always smell the best, however it's a friendly more laid back atmosphere. If your looking for a place where you can enjoy a conversation and a cheap drink and not have to yell over the speakers or drunk college kids, this is the place to go. It's a cash only bar, which kinda sucks but there is an ATM. It's also my favorite place to bring your drink outside in the summer and have a cigarette at the picnic tables.
