Great food and atmosphere with friendly service. Love the beet salad, and the burgers are also terrific.

I would say they have separated themselves from other establishments in the area. For the most part good experiences but once in a while a weird awkward one. The atmosphere is one that you will want to hang around if you are social and may be uncomfortable if you are looking for a more family affair. The dishes and drinks are very good, the shepherd pie is a little greasy for my taste but in general all the food delivers and the theme is pretty consistent for an Irish pub feel and taste. The one point that really makes or breaks this location is the service. Sometimes the waitress can bring the whole experience to the prefer night out and sometimes you get someone who is so bad you never want to come here again, I would hope over time that the weaker less attentive staff would be filtered out but for now only time will tell. read more

Exactly what you'd want in a pub experience: a clean, polished bar, low lighting, a game on at the bar, and sizable but casual menu. We came for a Sunday night dinner largely due to the large whiskey selection and weren't disappointed. My Irish burger (medium rare) and fries, were fantastic. The pretzel bites (stole one from the boyfriend) were amazing - I will order my own should we return when we're visiting the area again - and he also enjoyed his Guinness stew, which looked and smelled really good. We even found a new whiskey we loved and the friendly bartender (who also made a great Manhattan) was able to steer us to where we could find a bottle to pick up for home. read more

I have been to Coopershill a couple times since they opened. Tonight we visited again and I forgot how good they were. Located in downtown Peterborough is this quant Irish Pub. With traditional Irish food and some other favorites they have something for everyone. The staff was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxing, a perfect place for a date night or a night out with friends. My husband had the steak dinner, my daughter had a burger, we split the Irish Nachos, our favorite ,and I had Buffalo Cauliflower. Everything was prepared well and tasted delicious. I had a great time here. Sat down next to some "food critics" and when I told them I was going to get the shepherds pie they suggested the stew and I am happy I took their advice. Stopped in for a late lunch. Restaurant is really quiet. But the service is prompt and attentive, and the food is great. My husband had the fish and chips, and the fish was a large filet that was really crispy on the outside, flavorful and juicy inside. I had the Shepherd's Pie, and it was great - tasty gravy with big chunks of meat (can't remember if it's lamb or beef), and tasty, real mashed potatoes. This place has a perfect Irish pub vibe except the lighting could be dimmed a bit. The food was quite salty and we found the surcharge for a side of honey mustard to be a bit obnoxious. Also slightly alarmed that our server, who was bubbly and delightful, informed us she was leaving for the night part way through our meal and asked if we could close out before receiving our entree. Dang I really want to like them but.....no mind you the food was delicious but the false 'advertising" shall we say left me dismayed. I ordered the Coopers Salad $10.00 I wanted protein with it. I asked the server about the lamb (Ground or pieces) she said ground. I replied I didn't like ground so I would have the I said steak or beef, referencing the New England Waguy. She said, oh you want the added side of protein. "Yes" $7.00 for a total of $17.00. I even pointed to it on the menu. I got the salad with steak on top as ordered. My check came. $32.00 was my charge. They charged me for a full Steak dinner saying there was no steak side protein. Mind you I never even got the full meal - just a salad. The menu reads New England Waguy as a protein addition on their salads. Granted, Waguy can beef ground beef or steak but it is not specified. And typically if you order something that is not on the menu, they tell you it is special and give you a price. Even my server was dismayed. She said it should be $17.00 but that chef dug her heels in and basically told me too bad. Not good customer service!!! read more

Food was beyond incredible. Cooked with care and perfection. I had Brussel sprout app and salmon plate. Both perfectly cooked and so so good. The ambiance is so chill, but can also be romantic if that's what you're looking for. Great date night spot whether it's a first date, or 10 Year anniversary. The service was incredible. We've been to Coopershill several times since it opened. While we were fine with the old menu, we did not like the long boardinghouse tables etc. We only ate outside in good weather. They've reconfigured to tables and booths inside. The new menu is excellent. I had the chicken curry on a recent gross spring day. It was terrific. I'm a little hard-pressed to understand what part of Ireland traditional cuisine features curry and pomegranate seeds, but I'll forgive this oversight!! Well, I have a lot to say first I am of Irish background and I've been to Ireland a number of times. I also enjoy going to New York City and going pub crawling through the Irish places. This is a delightful place when you walk in beautifully decorated it's airy well done. There were four of us sitting at a hightop, we ordered I ordered soup and then Guinness Stew. To my surprise, the stew was brought first immediately followed by the soup. Everything taste delicious, but by the time I go to the stew it was cold. My sister-in-law ordered a hamburger, medium well it came out medium rare. They took it back, but it took forever to get a second one and it still had a little pink to it I really have to blame this one on the server. This was our first time eating out in a restaurant since COVID started. We really enjoyed the food, the ambience, and the service. I had a flight of Japanese whiskey and my friend had a delicious cocktail called Antrim Margarita. We were happy and lucky to be the only ones in the restaurant for the majority of our visit, since we got there right as they were opening. We had a really good time and the food was delicious. I was trying to forget our visit but yelp keeps bugging me to review so..here it is. Sorry. Four of us came in one afternoon during labor day weekend and got drinks and the cheese/meat board. Great start. Then we ordered another round and some mussels because we noticed people sitting outside with a pan of them and they looked good. When the mussels arrived the smell was off. It was a terrible smell. Everyone at the table was afraid to say anything so we each had one but very quickly the wives (who were not downing lots of whiskey) voiced concern. Our husbands then also recognized something was wrong. The server was sweet and asked if they were ok. We said no, they smell off and she said "yeah I thought so too when I was bringing them over". I'm sorry, what??? If you thought they smelled bad why on earth serve them? We just asked her to tell the kitchen they really needed to 86 the mussels before someone gets sick. When she brought the check (we decided not to eat anything else here!) She asked if we were feeling sick "yet" and said the kitchen will stop serving them. She added that she hoped none of us threw up that night. We walked outside and looked at each other as though we were being punked or on hidden camera or something. This has never, ever happened anywhere that any of us have been before. Thankfully we didn't really eat many mussels and nobody ended up being sick but I just can't recommend eating somewhere that the kitchen wouldn't smell bad seafood and pull it. They know damn well what that dish should smell like, they presumably make it every day. I can't really blame the waitress because she just walked them to the table and seemed very concerned for us. She was also so honest about thinking they were bad as well when most wait staff would likely lie. My husband will assuredly want to come back for whiskey-and we may do that. As far as food goes? I am not a picky eater. I received this stew for takeout on July 31, 2023, around 7:00 pm. This is the most disgusting thing a restaurant has ever served me. I am generally pretty disappointed by the quality of food served at coopers, but this is just an all-time low. The chefs should be disappointed in themselves for cooking this, the managers should be disappointed in themselves for allowing the quality of their restaurant to be so low, and the servers should be disappointed in themselves for letting this meal be served to a customer for $20. This stew was basically the old drippings of fat, with 1 fatty sliver of meat, a few potatoes, served alongside the most flour-centric bread you'll ever taste. Coopers hill was not busy at all on this Monday evening, which I find important to note as well. The whole restaurant feels very depressive, and the employees all seem very stressed, even though the restaurant (as I previously mentioned) was not busy at all, which seems like a sign of managers disorganization. I let my dad try a bite (important to note this is a man who eats herrings and liverwurst almost every morning for breakfast), and he literally spat out and began scraping his tongue with a napkin. I feel silly getting so upset about some stupid stew, but genuinely it made my night worse, and I will not be going back besides on the rare occasion where I crave a neuben. read more

This restaurant is fantastic. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because my husband's bread pudding was really lame. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars. We started off with the Jumbo Soft Pretzel. It really is jumbo and was delicious. The cheese sauce and the mustard that accompanied was so good. I wish they bottled and sold the mustard - I'd buy that. My husband got the Shepherd's Pie. It was delicious. I wish it were a little deeper though - it was a good size serving but was paltry/thin layers. Other than that, great tasting and authentic - made with lamb. I ordered a small crock of the Guinness Beef Stew - phenomenal. Best Irish Beef Stew I've ever had and the soda bread that accompanied was delicious too, made with caraway seeds. I ordered the "Neuben" (a take on the Reuben). So good. The same spicy mustard served with the pretzel. A whiskey cream sauce. Dubliner cheddar, corned beef, a red cabbage slaw on a grilled/toasted rye bread. I made sure to take leftovers home so I could try their dessert. I'm not usually into rich, heavy sweets but decided to try their Baileys Cheesecake - again, so good! My husband's bread pudding was so disappointing though. They should just take it off the menu if they can't improve it. Our waitress was great. She was bubbly, attentive and seemed to really enjoy working there. The restaurant is exceptionally clean. We sat near the wall, there was no dust on the wainscoting, no dust on the lights. It was a busy Sunday and everything was clean. Warm, cozy ambiance as well. We will definitely come back. Came back from skiing with my friend and tried to find a pub for a quick bite before driving an hour thirty back. Came across this place and oh my god it did not disappoint. We were first greeted by a wonderful server who got me a hot coffee which was great. She was super attentive and quick. We then got the snug burger with a side of mac and cheese, and my friend got the grilled cheese with a side of mac and cheese as well. The burger was cooked perfectly medium rare as per requested. The grilled cheese was phenomenal but the mac and cheese was out of this world. Lastly we got the cheesecake and it may have been the best cheesecake I've ever had in my life. We were already stuffed from the food before but that didn't stop us from devouring the entire thing. read more

Drove out of our way to look at the leaves and made coopershill our destination. Great ambience and was super excited when we sat down. They were out of a ton of items which is fine, it happens. I used to be a restaurant manager I get it. We ordered bangers and mashed. Food comes out without any gravy on it (which is necessary for a meal like bangers and mashed). We asked the waitress for some and she went to the kitchen to get it. Turns out they were out of that as well. We didn't eat our meals as the sausages and colcannon was dry without the gravy, I went home and made some gravy for it and my wife turned in her meal. They took $3 off each meal ($20) as an apology. We literally didn't eat it and you are making us pay over 3/4 of the meal price? They were out of the beer I wanted and the dessert but the waitress knew about it (as she was very aware of all other 86ed items) and was fantastic making the substitutions she could. This review is nothing against her as she was fantastic. Management shouldn't be sending food out of the kitchen that either isn't complete or the customer ok's the partial item. If a mistake is made the customer should be made right, not $6 off the main course when we did drinks, appetizer, meals and dessert. Left a sour taste in our mouths and although we went in thinking this would be a regular place coming out this way I think we will try other restaurants in the area. I hope it was just an off day, and crazy weekends happen. Sometimes you run out of stock of items. Not once did we see a manager or hear that a manager sends their apologies. It felt like we inconvenienced them with their lack of gravy and our asking for it. read more

We love this place! The food is unique, not the expected irish pub stuff. The service is excellent although we normally sit at the bar. The alcohol choices are right up our alley with endless whickey and borubon choices. We love this place, the only down side is that it's a bit pricey - but worth it. read more
