We absolutely enjoyed our brunch at this place. You should definitely make reservations. The restaurant is very cute with several dining tables inside and more outside. For starters we had the bread service which was several pieces of toasted bread served with a flavored butter. For our meals I had the Curate burger and my girlfriend had the Salmon toast. This was such a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant is inside an arts center so everything is designed to be aesthetically pleasing from the view out the large windows to the periwinkle glassware that matches subtle accents in the decor. Our waitress was friendly, witty and gave us suggestions for ordering. We had a southwestern pulled pork soup, gnocchi, and bread with parsley butter. So here is a gem in southern Vermont that my husband and I got to enjoy on a trip to celebrate our anniversary. This cute little restaurant is tucked into the corner of an art gallery with some cool and interesting art. It was cozy and intimate with friendly and professional staff. We started out with some tasty and interesting cocktails- a bourbon bitter& sour and a spicy pineapple margarita. The BBS was my favorite but the margarita had a nice spicy kick if you like spice. While we raved about our appetizers of smoked cheddar fondue and seared scallops, we learned that the chef actually used to work at a restaurant in our hometown of Richmond Va. We are so sad we lost her to Vermont because this meal was one of the best we've ever had. For entrees we ordered the special of the night - the Branzino and also the Cúrate seafood stew. Both by far one of the best fish dishes we have ever eaten. We also couldn't resist ordering dessert which was an orange chocolate budino and cinnamon sugar churros with caramel sauce. The scallops were amazing (but $19 for 2 seemed sad) special pasta tortellini with truffle was very good, but the number of pieces has clearly been counted out onto the dish. Fish and chips were good. Not overly breaded or fried. Kids ordered streaks which were a little tough. And $18 for a glass of wine just feels a little high, would like more options. We decided to go here for brunch last minute and I'm so glad we did! We chose to eat outside even though it was a little chilly but the view was so worth it. We started with the grilled bread and got the fried chicken sandwich and huevos rancheros. Both were so good! I've visited this restaurant each time I've been to Manchester and I will say I'm never disappointed. CurATE is a beautiful space located on the campus of the Southern Vermont Arts Center in one of their galleries. The vibes of the restaurants is always peaceful and low key. The staff here is beyond friendly and very knowledgeable and efficient. And what I love about the food is that the dishes are innovative and thought out very well. Their fish dishes are my favorite from their Halibut fish and chips to their Crudo. The prices are a bit high, but you are paying for quality. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in the area and looking to treat yourself. read more

Ambiance: nice space inside an art gallery. There is a large outdoor patio with great views, if it had been a warmer evening we would have opted to sit outside. Service: friendly but not prompt. 5 minute wait to be seated (no line). We had made a reservation online, had to give a credit card to secure a reservation, so we were on the hook for $50 whether we ate there or not. Food: After we were seated and ordered, it was about 45 minutes after our reservation time before the shared flatbread appetizer was on the table. Hot & delicious, it was the best part of the meal. Then another longish wait for the entrees, which were OK. Food was hot but for example, my French fries were made from frozen and were not truffle fries as the menu stated. There was an onion ring garnish on my husband's pork chop and those too were cooked from frozen. My hamburger was cooked just as I wanted and delicious--but for $19 (plus $4 extra for cheese and an egg on top), it sure as heck should be. We did not opt for desert. Another long wait for the check and another long wait to pay. We dined on a Wednesday night in early August, and our two course meal for 2 people took 1 hour and 45 minutes. Actually, our service was great compared to the table next to us who were already seated when we walked in, who ordered before us but didn't get their food until 10 minutes after we did. Yikes! I overheard something about the "seafood stew" entree taking longer to prepare. Hope it was worth the wait. I considered ordering that but I was glad I dodged that bullet. Won't be coming back. Bring a book to read if you choose to dine here. At least they have a very friendly service staff. read more

Again lovely setting and view. We ordered a flatbread and huevos rancheros. The flatbread two options one with mushrooms, the other with duck. We order the mushroom. The waiter, lots of hmm and huffing. Order comes, the flatbread we wanted mushroom came out as duck. We said this is not mushroom, he said yes it is?? Gas lights my wife. We had to take a bite to show its not mushrooms. Orders another, 20 minutes later we get it. NO sorry, no can we make this up to you. Really ridiculous. I love this relatively new addition to the dining scene at Manchester, VT. The restaurant is housed in the Southern Vermont Arts Center, so you know you'll be eating at a great venue. It is airy, warm, and has great views of the mountain if you go before sunset. The food is modern fusion that brings together tastes of New England, Spain, Creole, Italian, New American. Everything tastes great! Portions are quite generous. Service was friendly and attentive. Wine list is limited, but the selections are well picked. The arts center is open at night to diners, so feel free to walk around and look at the exhibited artwork - which is an added bonus. I came to CurATE Cafe, at the Southern Vermont Arts Center, Manchester, Vermont for a lunch on a beautiful autumn day ( today, 10/11/24) with 5 friends. We wanted to sit outside to enjoy the day and the incredible view. It was chilly but we opted to sit outside in our coats. Half way through the meal we realized there was a heater right next to our table. We asked our server if he could turn it on. he was reluctant, saying they might not have fuel in them. We asked him to please try since we were shivering. Eventually, he got it on, but he didn't seem to want to try. I had called ahead because I have some food allergies and was assured that my server would help meet my needs. When it came down to it, he said I could remove things from the salad that I couldn't eat, but I could not add anything like carrots or cucumbers as a substitute because they might not have that in the kitchen. Really? When the meal was over 4 out of the 6 of us felt the server was rude or very brusk. One woman asked him, Can you tell me more about this dish, pointing to the menu. The server said I don't know anymore about it than you do, read what it says on the menu. These are no bar-wings, they are gourmet and you can tell that plenty of work went into them to make them that good. An amazing apparently hidden gem that I feel silly advertising (it did not need it, we could barely get a table for 5:30 and by 6:30 it was completely full). Located inside a gallery-museum, which itself is surrounded by outdoor sculpture spread around the grounds. So you can wonder around looking at art (some of it really great, and its also for sale!) before or after dinner. Food is fantastic, we had bread with butter and roasted vegetables with goat cheese as appetizers, and a hamburger, sea bass fish and chips and Italian seafood stew. All top-notch. This is a little hidden gem in Manchester. Tucked away in an art museum and off the beaten path, but we are so happy we found it on OpenTable. I had the lamb - succulent & delicious with creamy mashed potatoes and rich gravy. Probably the best lamb I have ever had. My husband had the strip steak, which he said was equally outstanding.
