I had mostly chips and the creamy avocado dip. Chips are delicious. Perfect texture, not too thick and fresh. I didn't like the salsa much. Had a ketchup like taste to it. I had a tamale plate. Tamales were okay. A little dry for me. Rice was a bit bland. It's overall a basic Mexican restaurant. I like authentic Mexican, lots of cilantro around. I guess if you prefer tex mex this is probably okay. read more

Been here a couple of times & love the chips and dips. Food is good and so is the service. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Katy.

I have had the best time this year this far!! This new location was just what Grand Parkway needed!! The staff is amazing!!! Well worth the one hour wait!!! I have had my cactus juice drink (a nod to Josh and Christian, the bartenders, and to our friendly server Lamia who bubbles over with personality!! Welcome to the neighborhood Gringos!! I'll be visiting often... read more

We all got different types of food and everything was delicious. The drinks were good from the bar. The restaurant was very clean.

Amazing tacos! I had the veterans plate. Fajitas were amazing and amazing flour tortillas. The Shrimp salad was super fresh and amazing! Definitely recommend this place and will definitely be coming back. Service was great! read more

Fajitas are yummy. We enjoyed our margaritas first and second visit. Third visit the margaritas were not as good. But we will definitely be back. read more

Family Fajita Combo beef and chicken, corn tortillas comes with everything. Margaritas to go. Curbside. Outstanding. Definite repeat.

My husband and I love there salsa. The service can seem slow but the food comes out rather fresh. It can be loud and unless you plan to sit at the bar don't sit at the table right next to it because they are small. I like there food for the most part. We had a taco salad for my mom to go and she loved it read more

Overrated. We made reservations online so hardly had to wait at all on a Friday night. Salsa is like tomato sauce with sugar added. Husband only got 2 tortillas with his fajitas. Food was very salty. We are too close to the border for Mexican food at this level. This is more like what you get up north. Husband's frozen margarita was half melted. read more

Loved it here, became regulars because of the consistency of the food and drinks. Never had an issue with the staff and majority of the time it's been a great experience. My favorite is El Capitan and Cadillac Margaritas, excellent! read more

The food was great! The drinks took a very long time and came out after the food though, and after we were served, we had a hard time with our service. But, it was opening night, so I will give it another go. The manager Dustin was extremely friendly and apologized for the wait read more

THIS PLACE WAS IMPRESSIVE!! Amazing decor inside, well trained staff, and the food was Perfect! You can tell the Gringo's outfit really know what they are doing. This will be our family's favorite Tex Mex restaurant for sure! About time they made it out to Katy!! read more

Loved this location since it opened! Service is always good, food comes out fast and delicious! Great margaritas too

Showed up 40min early to put our group of 10 on the waitlist for lunch so the hosts would have plenty of heads up. They don't take reservations, and we called a few days early and they told us to arrive early instead. Still no table over an hour and 15min later, we had to go to lunch at the restaurant next door instead so we wouldn't miss our post-lunch plans. Go elsewhere if you have a larger group, there are plenty of better options in Katy that take great care of their patrons. It was really disappointing, and management was of no help. read more

Nada. Food not much to talk about, service was ok, atmosphere whatever. Just not impressed or inspired to go again. Too many better options in Katy. read more

My boyfriend and I visited the cypress location constantly when we lived in that area. We were so excited to hear they were opening a Katy location close to our home now. The service is great. Staff is very friendly and always check on you throughout your meal. Reservations are easy to make online and there's never a wait when we come to check in. And of course, food and margs are delicious!! read more

It's a great experience, I loved the food but specifically the service, Vitor made great recommendations and he is very friendly. Highly recommended! read more

Went there for happy hour. Great! We had margaritas and guacamole. Delicious! Will be back to try their dinner menu. This is an asset to Katy. Welcome! read more

I was happy that they finally opened a Gringo's in Katy. I have visited many of their other locations and they never fail. Clean, attentive waitstaff, delicious food and great atmosphere. Friday and Saturday's are usually busy but that's to be expected for a restaurant that is worth eating at. Go...enjoy a margarita with some Queso and then any of their entrees will make for a great meal! read more

Apparently, you can make reservations for seating at the bar! Stop by 10/30/21 early evening and bar seating was full except for 2 seats side by side. I asked bar staff if subject seats were taken considering 2 clean plates and silverware were presented....I was told they were reserved. 20 mins later while I was still waiting for spot to become available at bar, I watched a couple walk into the restaurant and walk directly to subject reserved seats. It became apparent one of bar staff (woman) apparently knew the couple and likely reserved the spots for them. So if you want reserve seating at bar, call ahead and request it! read more

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time on Cinco de Mayo. The atmosphere was perfect. I had the Shrimp Fajitas and they were delicious. They were served over freshly cooked vegetables that put this dish over the top. Next time I'm in the Houston area I look forward to eating here again. read more

Let me start off with I've been to this location twice the first server was ok but Marleen was Amazing! Very attentive to our table and regularly checking in if we needed anything and suggested her favorites which were a hit!!! From the El Capitan to the mangonadas! I will definitely be asking for Marleen next time I come, the experience was outstanding! Have a happy holiday!! read more

Gringo's Mexican Kitchen - Mangonada - Tex-Mex Near Me - Katy, Texas

Wish I could vote 4.5 stars. Been here 3 times and love the shrimp tacos. The chips are light and crispy and the salsas are delish. I didn't like the ice in the micheladas... it waters it down but that's minor. Other than that, it's a great Tex-Mex restaurant. We came for my son's graduation and the server was super accommodating to our party. He even brought a dessert for my son as a "congratulations"! We will be back! read more

My kids love this place. We go here or their other chain's location locally, monthly.

Their customer service and hosting is horrible. They don't care about Customerat all. Did you talk with each other and laugh. Don't use their waitlist on the app. once you get to the restaurant you have to check in and then your time starts. putting your wait on the app does you no good. Even they have open table, they make you wait more than 30 minutes. I do not understand that. read more

The food is okay. BUT! The churros are amazing! Do yourself a favor and stop in just to have churros sometime!

I'm not sure why the 4 stars on this one? I've been here a few times and I've not been slightly disappointed. The food is great! Especially the rice(which is not as common in "Mexican" restaurants as you may think). The decor, lighting, music & customer service is exquisite! I hope you read this and go have a divine date with what you've heard thank me later. read more

Honestly the best curbside meal I have had. The food was stored neatly and my food was done promptly.

I would have rated this place at least 4 stars if our waitress (Anna Marie) wasn't so distasteful. It was my first visit and I showed up prior to 8 pm so I wasn't a last minute guest. Had to ask for everything and her attitude/ personality was super stand off-ish, distasteful (like stated earlier) read more

Good quality Tex-Mex food with above average decor. Good local place to go for lunch or dinner. Has ok to go dinner party food, yet have held numerous office parties that the do a great job. read more

Was quoted a wait of 20 minutes for a bar top seat. Waited 5 minutes and had a table. Food was spectacular, service was amazing lina and David in the bar were amazing. Cant wait to go back read more

Excellent food. Very tasty. I got the grilled chicken with the shrimp and crawfish cream sauce - delicious!!! Their are very crispy and thin, different from other place. Although food took a bit of time to come. read more

Definitely the mangorita is a must. Fish taco also a must. Ambiance very good. Katy by costco is our go to place.

Always crazy busy, so be prepared to wait 20 minutes or more for your drinks. Servers are always super rushed and quite impersonal. Also, who doesn't include peppers in their fajitas? Never before have I seen a place that serves fajitas where it only come with onions and no peppers. Just not a fan of this place. read more

Service was good food was good. Sitting at the table watching bus boy clean tables never sanitized the tables and used the same towel to wipe down. read more

Came for Happy Hour and had the Caddy Rita (fire), southwest egg rolls, and a chimichanga. My server was polite and responsive. It was a great experience. Enjoyed all my food! I will definitely return! read more

You put you name on the online waiting list. Then you wait for what they say 45 minutes then you never move on their online waiting list as others move in front of you in line! You ask what the issue is then they tell you it will be another 30 minutes! You stay at number 2 on their list and still never get a table? Ask them again and it's not they are waiting on a table? What a waste of time!! Would not come back due to staff that would continue to lie about availability of seating!! After getting in the manager said you needed to check in which we did!! Never waste your time!! read more

The food at Gringos is always good, but our waiter, Victor, made our experience here super special. He was friendly and welcoming. He got everyone's order with all the special requests right. Our group was 8 older ladies and he treated us like queens. He kept our drinks full and was quick to take our separate checks and get them back to us. Victor could be a waiter at a fine restaurant but he said he loved working at Gringos. He sure made this lunch special for us. read more

Exceptional service. Quality food. Great drinks. The Cabo salad was fulfilling and the signature marguerite vinaigrette is an excellent pairing read more

Accidentally ordered from here instead of their sister company. Placed my order an hour ago and I've been waiting over 45 to get my order. One staff member said they didn't have my name on my prepaid order, so I gave her the order number and my phone number. I never saw her again. 20 minutes later, another staff member came to ask my name. I explained everything to her and showed my emailed order receipt. She promptly brought out my order. When I asked if it was even hot still since I'd been waiting so long. She must have known it wasn't because she offered to get me a fresh order. I was told they'd even throw in an extra queso. Said it would take 10 minutes. An hour and 15 minutes after ordering and I finally have my order. The employee that actually brought me my food was very nice, but it doesn't makeup for my horrible experience. If I ever accidentally order from this location again, they can just have my money because I will never sit in my car over an hour again, even if they gave me the food for free. read more
