If you dine here, you absolutely need to ask for Michael to be your server. We arrived on a Friday night (very busy) and had 4 adults and a high chair. We had a bit of a longer wait than anticipated due to them not having any tables available that fit a high chair. They finally asked us if a booster seat would suffice and we said yes, so they gave us a booth. Michael was friendly and professional immediately upon introduction. He asked if the baby would like some tortilla dough to play with. This was greatly appreciated after we had waited so long & the baby was restless. Michael was attentive without being too pushy. He was incredibly accommodating and gave us great food & drink recommendations. I could tell that he had been serving for a while and that he was good at his job. Not only was he a wonderful server, but he is also a veteran. We talked to him about his experience in the military and he was very open with us. It's not often that you come across someone as wonderful as Michael. He is a true treasure and we would come back to this location just to have him as our server! read more

Food was good but the service not so much. We sat for about 10 minutes before someone said a word to us. We had to ask who was our waiter. I won't be back to this location. read more

It's sad to say that this location brings down the Gringo's franchise name. There is a very nice manager here but sadly that is the extent of nice things to say about the location. Wait times, after ordering your food, are astronomical and wait staff just don't seem to care. I have been to this location 3 times, one of which was during the dinner crowd. All 3 times took m 40-60 mins to get food after ordering. I also noticed that the steak they use in their fajita burrito has an extremely strong umami flavor that almost seems like teriyaki. I'm assuming this is msg, which I don't have a problem with, but the flavor is bad. The marinade needs to be scrapped and re-looked at. I'm just done giving this place more chances. The La Marque location is far better, somehow. On a separate note: they offer an incredible 50% off discount for military. This is an amazing deal BUT the POS system needs to be updated. Right now the "suggested tip" section at the bottom of the receipt gives tip suggestions based on the total after discounts. So when our ticket is 50% off both meals and a free queso, our end bill was only $24, instead of over $50! However, the waiter shouldn't have to be stuck with a crap tip just because we had a bunch of free and discounted food. Update the POS system so that the suggested tips are based on the bill total BEFORE discounts are applied. Waiters could be losing up to half of their tips because of this simple error. read more

Great food Great service Always busy! Worth the wait! Get the veterans plate and help Camp Hope!

Great food through curbside & friendly service. We do curbside more often than not. They have so many slots for curbside & lately I don't have to text that I have arrived because there are always servers outside that stop by to check my name for the order! Love the Plato Saldado & Chicken Quesadillas. Always plenty of salsas & pico & queso to go with our meal. And the chips are addictive! Love that Gringo's gives back to the community. There is a $2.00 donation made for every Plato Soldado (soldiers plate) sold. Definitely our favorite Mexican food in this area. read more

Let me tell you something... This place is A-MAY-ZING!!!!! We knew it was about to be slap-yo-mama good when we had to get on the waiting list and was number 29! Honeyyyyy I could have been number 59 it was so worth the wait. The atmosphere was so inviting it was clean and it just was a vibe! Finally we were seated as this began a beautiful relationship with JAZIEL! To say JAZEIL WAS PHENOMENAL would be an understatement! I can't lie it too me a few times to get his name right but who's counting when the experience was MAGICAL. We started off with some Rita's... A pineapple and watermelon to be exact. They both were delicious.. but if I had to choose I would go with the pineapple just because who doesn't like a pineapple plus it's the safe word right!! We ordered the Border Sampler.... (Let's pause for a minute right here before I continue because I'm reliving the moment)... Ok... I'm back... EVERYTHING ON THE PLATE WAS ORGASMIC.... LIKE IM NOT EVEN LYING... after the first two bites of each item you begin to chew really slow because you want the flavors to linger in your mouth literally until it's gone... once it's gone you have to stop for a moment and reflect on what just happened! Like this food was so freaking good that I forgot to take pictures of when it came out. I also ordered the steak tacos with a side of rice and refried beans...(pause right here I just had a reflective moment again)... I'm back! This food tasted like they was slicing the meat of the animals in the wild it was so tender and fresh.... Every BITE was flavor EXPLOSION IN YOUR M O U T H! Get with it people!!!!! This is life! 20/10 would recommend! I was sorry I had to leave! This place is bustling with personality and good times! read more

If I could give this a 0 star review, I would. Put in a to go order for queso and a margarita at 5:50pm, arrived at 6:23pm and sent a text that I had arrived. After sending the text, I waited in the designated spot, and no one delivered my order. I waited until 6:43pm and called the store about my order, and they informed me that they would bring it out. I waited until 6:55pm and called back and informed them I would be cancelling my order. The to-go person informed me that my order was at the desk and she could bring it out. After waiting for over 30 minutes for queso and a margarita, I told her to cancel the order. During my time of waiting I put my hazard lights on in my parking space and no one ever came to my vehicle (as their sign instructs people to turn hazard lights on if they need to order). I had my hazard lights on multiple times while the vehicles that parked next time mine were delivered their food and no one ever addressed my vehicle. read more

Replace was really nice, the food was good, but it's crazy how everything is so expensive now. We looked everywhere and fajitas were like for two people 45 and up, This place is close to that price. You don't feel like cooking you have no choice. But, I would rather buy but he doesn't make them at home. But, honestly everything is just so over priced. I will have to find me a smaller mom and pop place. read more

Stellar food, service, and presentation! Beautiful and large restaurant. I'm hearing impaired and the waiter lowered their mask to communicate. Be sure to try the Top-Shelf Queso. (Not sure what they call it, but they serve it with seasoned pork skins!). Wow! Excellent and large margaritas. Definitely has become one of my favorite Katy Tex-Mex joints. Always busy! read more

Uhmm, what can I say, we went to this place a couple of times on the weekends but it was always crowded with a lot people waiting outside, so we left. We decided to try during the week on Tuesday and we've got a table . They have many open tables but they decided to gave us the worse table in the corner by the kitchen it was so noisy . I told the waiter that I didn't like the table and she moved us to another . We wait a lot for our drinks , I think the waiter forgot to order. They came together with our food which we didn't like it. Food was good , drinks too, but nothing special to worth the time to wait more than an hour to get a table. I don't think I'd come back because there are so many Tex- mex restaurant in Katy and good ones besides you don't have to wait hours . read more

Excellent Tex-Mex plates, everything you want, and they all taste home made. The place is Texas size but we still have to wait for 30 mins to be seated on a Friday evening. There was no issue as you can pick from an assortments of Margaritas and draught beers from the bar while waiting. The service is warm and outstanding. read more

I don't understand how people love this place. There's far better Tex mex options on every corner of Houston. For a little bit more money go to pappasitos at least if you're looking for a big chain restaurant. read more

We have ate here a few times and really enjoy the food, in addition the service has always been good. What I can't stand is the seating management when you arrive. Our last visit was my wife and I at 2 pm. Of course it was busy but the bar was wide open. Since there was only (2) of us and we enjoy to overspend on Margaritas we would have happily sat there. However we were informed by the hostess that the bar seating was part of the regular seating rotation. So now our wait was 25- 30 min, what?? With a wide open bar and a preference to sit there.... absolutely ridiculous. Short win for us, we returned to Lupe which was equally as busy, however there were two seats open at the bar which we were able to take upon our arrival. Well played Lupe!! You won our money read more

The curbside service is very poor and management should be aware of this. I had to Notify them three times plus call inside to get someone to come out. There were others waiting as well as me. Once they did come out and finally bring my food well beyond the time they quoted me it would be ready, it was cold. Yes not only was my food cold but order was incorrect and I didn't get what I paid for. The curbside service is poorly supported and unacceptable for customers to have to deal with. This is not the first poor rating I have seen on Yelp related to their curbside service. read more

I have never in my life walked out of a restaurant due to poor service but this place was horrible. I had to beg for water. After 45 minutes the food never came. We just got up and walked out. In fairness to the server, she had way to many tables and tried. Managers couldn't care less. read more

This new Gringo's is absolutely beautiful. Here is the piece of advice. You MUST get on the waitlist before you drive to the restaurant. We got in line while at home and were number 13. So we just stayed home until we got to number 5 on the list and then we drove out to the location. Once there, you check in with the front hostess and let her know you have arrived. Then they text you when it is time to be seated. We learned this lesson the hard way as 2/3 times we tried to go to the one in Cypress and the walk in wait was 1:45-2 hours. As long as you get on the waitlist you'll be fine. The food was good and fresh. I had a classic margarita it was good, not too strong. Our appetizers and food were delicious, just what you would expect of Gringo's. The restaurant inside is brand new and beautiful. Highly recommend it, we will be back! read more

I love this place when I come down to Texas!! The food is I like the atmosphere and I love our waiter Charles!! He was ! He suggested for me to get the Batman drink with his twist to my drink it was definitely great!! Also I told the manager that they need to bring their business to the west coast!! I am a fan of them!! This place is amazing if you like Tex Mexican food!! Will be back read more

Another perfect tex-mex restaurant in Katy. Personal faves: steak quesadilla and melon-rita.

3 1/2 but due to the chips and salsa plus accommodating staff round up to 4. We went for lunch after a doctors appointment and for around 2 pm a decent crowd. We were promptly seated and menus and water served. I ordered the 3 Amigos + Pepe and my wife, the President. The chips were very good, fresh, crisp, and thin. The salsa both were outstanding. The red salsa was a bit tomato forward but a nice jalapeño kick, the greens salsa was EXCELLENT, I could drink it! The 3 Amigos is a 4 enchilada plate - cheese, chicken salsa, ground beef and steak. Of the four, the ground beef was the best. The sauces were underwhelming, good but not complex. The meats were ample and decently prepared. Sadly not enough cheese, I want that stretchy cheese covering my enchiladas. My wife's Presidente was a crispy chicken taco, cheese enchilada, CCQ puff and tostada. He complaint on the taco was the shell was a processed shell, not a fresh tortilla. The CCQ was way too thick. The tostada was the star, practically a whole salad on top plus very good guacamole. Both dishes were served with charro beans (choices black beans, refried or charro), but they were mediocre at best and saffron rice, ok but a bit dry. Prices are more than fair! In all, a decent meal but not a standout.... read more

Great good and atmosphere. The margaritas are great and the food is good. Free ice cream at the door what more can you ask for!!!

This is the 2nd time I have ordered something from this restaurant to go. I have successfully used GrubHub to pick up my order on multiple occasions before the last two times. But both of the last two times I have ordered food they have indicated an hour wait for the order. In these cases I tell the GrubHub driver to go home and I will pick up the order myself. I call the restaurant explain the situation and they say they will text me when my order is ready. Both times I had to go up to the restaurant and my order was sitting on the shelf and had been sitting there for 30 minutes. This restaurant can't seem to get their act together. I read more

The restaurant is nice and we come couple of times a month. Food is great too. I usually get the Veracruz or the Capitan Fajitas and they are always on point. Their chips and salsas also really good. The waitstaff is very accommodating and helps with customizing the dish ordered. We will keep coming as long as food and waitstaff continue to be the best. read more

Once again we gave Gringo's a try. This one was important for my daughter in law birthday dinner. I have to say again service was terrible and we were there at 5pm before the crowd. Getting our drinks took forever as we were seated close to the bar and could see our drinks sitting there, and watched as servers walked by and even management but the drinks set! Food that was slow too, the only thing quick, was our bill we all laughed as that came so fast! I noticed a lot of management walking around, not sure how trained they are as they seam to be talking to staff rather than customers to see how things are going. Visible management that walks around does nothing! read more

Their food is fresh and savory. The red sauce and Hatch green chili sauces are better, in my opinion, than in other Mexican food restaurants. Christen (or Christie) is a terrific waitress. I like the pork tamales. read more

Good luck trying to get something as simple as water here. The staff will stare you in the eyes as you try to flag them down and walk away. The food here was sub par and honestly not tasty at all. None of the table were clean and there was splashes of food everywhere like they ram out of water to clean. The place had a dirty fast food Ambiance feel. read more

Good food although a bit Americanized I enjoyed the flautas plate and the curbside pick up was a breeze

We had a group of us at the bar ordering drinks while waiting for our table it took a good 10 minutes to even get the bartender to acknowledge us to order drinks, then a manager came up said we were standing in the way while waiting for the drink, another person came up 2 seconds later to say the exact same thing, the bartender then tells us that we can't move to the other side of the bar out of the way because that was for people that were going to be eating at the bar. We planned on drinking and tipping well but after Once we got our tables the server delivered great service but I can't recommend the food or the service at the bar. read more

I had recently complained to Gringo's-Katy, regarding an order that was erroneous. I did not receive the meal that I had ordered, so I complained. The manager receiving my call was kind enough to replace the order, after having corrected the mistake. So, I decided to try the establishment again today. Unfortunately, the same thing has happened for a SECOND time. This is really upsetting, as it suggests the restaurant personnel are still not paying ample attention to the orders received and getting the order right (the first time). On top of that, I ordered a 1/2 gallon serving of margarita's, which was probably the worst drink I have ever had. I'm sorry Gringo's-Katy, even though I had been hopeful, I can no longer support your establishment. Johnnie read more
