Went in to watch the Laker game at the bar and had a great experience. Nick the bartender can make a mean old fashioned cocktail and Dom also came through with some excellent suggestions to snack on during the game. It was my first time there - and would definitely come back. read more

Griffin's - Ribeye & Brussel sprouts - New American Near Me - Brea, California

First time and experience was good. Party of 4 and all thought the food was great. A little dark in the restaurant but ambiance overall was good. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, potatoes, cacio de Pepe, meatballs, and the ribeye steak. Portions are big! We are family style and everything was more than enough to share. We ordered two cocktails which were good and very strong! Brussels sprouts - definitely recommend! Very god and comes with two sauces. Both very enjoyable. Potatoes - sorry forgot the name in the menu but these were amazing. Really liked it a lot. Will definitely order next time I'm here. Cacio de Pepe - good pasta, kinda of average. Nothing too much to say about this one. Meatballs - very good! Grandmothers recipe, comes with gravy sauce, shredded pork shoulder and Texas toast! Very good and kids like it too! Ribeye - very good cook and char. And the chimchurri was amazing! The garlic mashed potatoes were very tasty too! Unfortunately there was so much food so we didn't order any dessert. Over all great experience will definitely dine here again! read more

Stopped by for a late dinner. Our server was Joel and he was fantastic. He was super attentive, checked in on us at the right times, and made sure we had everything we needed. Really made the experience better. I also want to give a shout-out to David (manager) for being very welcoming and making sure everything was running smoothly. You can tell he cares about the customer's experience. Would definitely come back. read more

Went last Friday night and WOW. The food and ambiance were incredible. From trying to get a seat (they were fully booked but able to squeeze us in after a short wait) to walking out, everyone was so nice and helpful. Our server was attentive and helpful with any and all questions. The food: My friend got the oxtail and said it was easily one of the top dishes he's had his whole life. The server recommended pairing it with rice and my friend agreed it added to the meal. I got the Caesar salad with chicken. The dressing was on the lighter side which was a really great idea because the toppings really bring everything together. The chicken was seasoned and grilled really well and could have been a dish on its own but welcomed with my salad to make it a meal. There were some small hiccups along the way, but we were checked in on and they made things right. Definitely excited about returning in the near future. Thanks so much for coming to Brea, Griffin's! read more

Finally tried one of the newest restaurants in town & it did not disappoint! Griffin's has a cool vibe that's perfect for a date night or a fun night out with friends. The crispy brussel sprouts were insanely good especially with that fennel ranch sauce! The meatballs were rich and melt in your mouth tender. The Oxtail dish was next level flavorful with a thai chili lime flavor that was so delicious, just writing this makes my mouth water! The waygu burger was juicy, flavorful and worth every single bite. Looking forward to our next visit to Griffin's! read more

Waiters are friendly and are very attentive. The yellowtail crudo and patatas are delicious!

Extremely impressed with our entire experience. The ambiance is warm and intimate. The service from all the staff members was friendly, inviting, and knowledgeable about the menu. We started our dinner with the yellowtail crudo and it was the best start to our dinner. The yellowtail was fresh and the sauce was flavorful but not over powering. My husband and I shared brussel sprouts, patatas, and the oxtail. Each dish was created with creativity and balance. A sweet addition to our first visit to Griffins was a live pianist and singer! (tuesdays and thursdays) we'll be back for our next date night or girls night out read more

Server was fantastic. Great suggestions and presentation. 4 stars due to the overall drink experience. Ordered their Kentucky Heat and it arrived with no heat. Server apologized, saying they were training on the bar but no replacement drink. She promised it would be better if I ordered another. Indeed it was, but why pay for the first one. Anyhow, wife ordered her second drink prior to our Ribeye arriving and it came right before we concluded our meal. Super unfortunate. Was looking to share my experience with the manager, but he stayed talking for another table throughout our meal. Don't get me wrong, food and table server were spot on. Will visit again when they get their bar trained up. read more

The service was excellent, waitress was very attentive and friendly. It's an open style restaurant, you can visibly see the kitchen when you walk into the restaurant. The ambiance is nice but the only thing I would recommend is to replace the red sofa seat, doesn't really match the restaurant style. The sofa is Burgundy color about the chairs are brown color. The taste of the food is good but will I want to come back to dine again just for the food, I doubt it. I do believe can improve on the dishes presentation. read more

Been hearing nothing but good things about this place so decided to check it out last night & let me tell you, everything was absolutely DELICIOUS! Inside had a cute ambiance to it & was very clean. Our server, Michael, helped us on what foods to try & what he recommended & he did not disappoint. The first thing we tried was the patatas bravas. It was seasoned so well with delicious spices & flavors paired perfectly with this crema on the bottom. This is something I will definitely get again! We also had crispy Brussels sprouts as an appetizer that were paired with buffalo sauce & fennel ranch on the side & surprisingly paired so well together! Oxtail & the Ribeye were very flavorful & tender & the Tagliatelle was absolute perfection. This is definitely my new go to spot for date night! I highly recommend! Thank you Michael for taking care of us! read more

I love this restaurant. I want it to succeed. Recently, there's live music, great performer, Phia. Food is mostly amazing, some are changing and innovating, but there are some staples. Your desserts are so good. Please bring back the blackberry lemon cake!!! Sooooo good. Can I make a suggestion? You guys can do dessert bar theme weekend nights? You can be the first Dessert Bar in Brea. Seriously, great desserts. Love the Caesar, carrots, asparagus dishes. Veggie dishes here are made with love, so many flavors and textures and the freshest ingredients. I like how the meat dishes also have some veggie and carbs, very well rounded. I can tell the chefs are well trained, love what they do, and try their best. read more

This is a hidden gem in Brea. We shared the patatas brava, ceasar salad, and yellow tail crudo appetizers and they were so good we ordered seconds! For dinner we shared the Loup de Mer and pan roasted chicken. The loup de mer was our favorite. Excellent selection of food and drinks, exceptional customer service, and fun atmosphere. The owner came to our table and gave us tips about the drinks. Can't wait to go back!! read more

Went to Griffin's for an early Father's Day dinner and had a great experience! My husband and son ordered the wagyu burger and I ordered the pan roasted chicken. Both were delicious and fresh. This place is just ok. First of all, it is very loud inside and the table next to us was practically yelling. Not cool. Second, the food was average. We ordered the brussel sprouts-nicely toasted but quite salty. Meatballs-a little spicy and ours did not come with ANY garlic bread and very little sauce. The burrata-had a strange spice on it-I didn't like it and I always love burrata...it came with the saddest looking slices of small store bought crostinis. Finally the Caesar salad-which was the best thing to me. Cocktails were the only redeeming thing here. Also, when we checked in the host told us the place was very busy and that the bar was out of "juices" so drinks were backed up. I asked the server once we were seated and she said no, it's actually slow tonight and no problem getting a cocktail. So odd. read more

Griffin's is a relatively new restaurant that opened up in downtown Brea, a few spots north of the Yardhouse. We found a parking spot right behind the restaurant and there is also a valet lot behind the Yardhouse. If you don't mind walking a little bit, there is also a free parking garage right across the street behind the Edwards movie theater. There is a nice patio area out front where you can dine to get some fresh air and a good view of Brea Boulevard. There are two main dining areas inside, a smaller one right when you walk in which has a view of the open kitchen, and a larger one next to it which houses the bar. We were greeted by our server Marilyn who gave us great service all evening and had good information about many of the menu items we asked about. They have a happy hour menu which is every day, not just weekends, from 4pm to 6pm so we started out with a few cocktails and an appetizer. The patatas bravas are nicely seasoned crispy potato wedges with several sauces that were very tasty. My girlfriend had the Pink Pomy Club cocktail which was a nice light drink. I had the Cats Meowtside which was ok but was very prosecco forward. The appetizer and entrée selection is not very big but there is a really great variety of things you don't see everywhere. She had the jackfruit tacos which she really liked. She also had The Crown cocktail which is one of their most popular and was also very good. I have never had Oxtail before and you rarely see that anywhere so I ordered that to try something different. It kind of reminded me of short rib and has a little silky texture. It is a little work getting the meat off the bones but the flavors were great and it was filling and visually looked nice. I had a glass of Chateau La Chapelle Aux Moines (a Bordeaux blend) red wine which paired very nicely with it. We got an order of brussels sprouts to share and it was a very large serving size. It came with two sauces, a fennel ranch which was really good but the buffalo sauce had a strange earthiness to it which neither of us cared for. We were totally stuffed so we passed on dessert but the whipped chocolate budino was tempting. The food and service were great. We were there for about 90 minutes on a Sunday at 5pm and it was pretty slow. Go give them a try! read more

We went to Griffin's to try out their food and I must say that the food did not disappoint us. The Patatas Bravas was great. It was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. The dressing that came with it was great. The ox tail dish was also a favorite. The sauce that came with the dish was very tasty and went well with the dish. Of course we had to also try the ribeye steak cooked medium rare. I thought the place was just a steakhouse but it was more than that. They had lots of different dishes. My only suggestion is for them to update their menu on their website as we were told that they change their menu based on the season. Overall it was a great experience. We will definitely be back to try out their other dishes. Btw their cocktails were also good. read more

Worst possible experience! Came here many time: and it was great! This was the worst possible service ever! Ordered food and we got nothing after an hour! Everyone around us was eating, but we got nothing! Asked the server and she said it all comes out at once, all we ordered was potatoes, meatballs and a steak! WTH takes over an hour to cook?!? And when we came here before, everything came out when it was ready! Will never come back!! read more

What an experience, the place has a vibe that is so welcoming and intimate at the same time while hosting the Dodger game where else can you fit all that into one place. The cacio y pepe is by far the greatest version I have ever had with squid ink pasta and trust me when I say definitely get this you will love it. The drink Menu is so delicately crafted to fit the vibe of the restaurant and the clase azul maiz margarita is made in house by their bartender who managed to get the elote flavor into a drink without it being too corn forward.. Try it!.. You gotta try this place before it blows up and reservations are the only way in. read more

I came in Hangry, left smiling with tears of joy tha what is your name and didn't expect much of it. I thought this was going to be just one of those hype restaurants that was all over social media and didn't have great food. This ribeye was fire!! I thought it was a little too rare but noo!! Melted in my mouth and was season perfect with so much flavor. Cooked beautifully. Our waiter Lauren was very polite dispite my hangry attitude and was very attentive making sure everything was good and that I was happy. David came by and asked how our food was and had a great conversation with my wife, mother, and I. My wife ordered the oxtail and he gave us a great suggestion in taking the oxtail bone home with us and to put it in a beef broth and add ramen noodles to it!! Great place, beautiful ambiance with great employees and people. read more

I was really looking forward to the $68 Wagyu hanger steak, but it ended up being the biggest disappointment of the meal. The steak had a nice sear, but it was served closer to medium-rare despite being ordered medium. More importantly, it lacked the marbling and tenderness I would expect from anything labeled "Wagyu." It ate more like a standard hanger steak - lean, chewy, and surprisingly tough. What made it worse was the presentation: instead of being properly sliced across the grain, it was served as three thick, uneven chunks that were difficult to cut and even harder to chew. For a cut like hanger steak, slicing it thinly across the grain is an important part of the preparation and would have made a noticeable difference in tenderness. At this price point, I expected a better quality cut and more thoughtful execution. Unfortunately, the dish didn't live up to either the "Wagyu" label or its premium price. read more
