Menu is creative and the food was excellent. Tried the Caesar salad and crispy Brussels Sprouts to start. Next was the Tagliatelle (short rib ragu) and the Crispy Fried Whole Snapper which was both delicious and visually stunning. Our server was a little inattentive as she was also serving a large party in the bar. Decor looks to be a work-in-progress unless a rustic minimalist approach is the desired effect. Griffin's is the perfect addition to Downtown Brea. The atmosphere is peaceful and very welcoming. Our server was great and very attentive (coming from a former server/bartender). Also, Rob the owner stopped by our table, he was friendly, genuine, and created such a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and came out in a timely manner. Food that we tried was Hamachi Crudo, Summer Tomatoes, Gnocchi, Jackfruit Tacos and the Blackberry Cake, all were really good and had the right amount of flavor- not over or under salted either. I think the Hamachi and jackfruit tacos were my absolute favorite. Two drinks I highly recommend are "Danger is my Middle name" - a tequila drink and "The Crown" - a gin drink with lavender bitters. Definitely visit this new restaurant, your tastebuds will thank you and you will not be disappointed at all. :) read more

Surprising find in a little downtown Brea. Overall, lovely food, seasoned perfectly. Steak tartar was my favorite. Fresh meat and not gamy at all. Added egg yolk on center adds extra creaminess and umami to the dish. Touch of small pieces pickled vegetable around the meat was a nice touch, adds fun texture and removes any slightest bit of raw meat gaminess from the dish. Vege taco, tasty but i dont like vegan menu, so not much to say. Kale salad was also really good. Not boring at all with different texture and flavor profile from creaminess and nuttiness of pine nut to fresh mints and fun crunchy vegetables. I think adding a protein would elevate the dish even higher but sadly, we got it without. Service was spot on with friendly staff and service. They removed a drink from our tab because it came out a bit late. The interior looks it needs some work. Not bad but could reorient some lighting and overall finishes of the place. Feels like a typical OC restaurant that wants to be nice but couldn't. The place feels dark but it they definitely need to add some spot light or ambient light at the seating area. I didn't take any interior photo because there wasn't much to look at. Overall, I'd still come back to this place. Food wise, one of the best place ive been to in OC. If they were serving these foods in LA in a fancy interior restaurant and fancier plating, they could be charging way more for the dish. I really enjoy the yellowtail crudo, steak, and potatoes from this place. I didn't really care for the berry dessert.. The service here is pretty good and they would check up on you regularly. I live in chino but was looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate Valentine's day on sunday and I found Griffin on tiktok and I saw great reviews. I made reservations and wow the place was beautiful it gave a very intimate feeling and staff was very welcoming and excited to give the best service. Unfortunately, i didn't remember my servers name bc Im bad with names but wow my server was very kind and helpful when it came to ordering food and drinks. The food was delicious we ordered for appetizers the Brussel sprouts and burrata as for our drinks I got the Pink Pomy Club sooo yummy not too strong just perfect! And for entrees we both got the shrimp tacos 11/10! I loved them sooo much! The coconut flakes was different but amazingly tasty! Definitely would come back to try different dishes! I went this wednesday when they just opened. I had several dishes with my friends but notably: apps wise, get esquites. You are missing out if you dont. And tomato dish was super refreshing with a unique sauce and fresh, organic tomatoes from the chef's garden. For the main, sea bass with charred lemon was flaky and aromatic. The Milanese with Southeast Asian-inspired dipping sauce was an incredible combination. love, love, love it! The chef has a cool way of blending different flavors from various influences that were so delightful to experience. Dessert of chocolate pie with malt sea salt was a perfect wrap up. read more

Decided to check Griffins out, but we were a little early the manager stepped outside to talk to us and invited us back in a few mins. We were still not sure on where to eat but ended up at Griffins due to our conversation with the manger earlier. We were very pleasantly surprised at delicious the food was. We ordered the meatballs, a pasta dish I don't remember the name, shrimp tacos and a Caesar salad. Everything was fantastic. We will definitely be back. Cocktails were amazing as well. Have been here many times. Food has been good for the most part. If it had a downside it was the food would come to quickly. Came in last night, 01/19/26 and what a shit show it was. We were there over 1 hour and never received any of the 4 dishes we ordered. What was worst was I counted 5 other tables that came on after, some as later by at least 30 minutes, and they were getting the dishes they had ordered while we sat there nursing our water glasses. When I finally got up to go complain to the manager who was standing by the kitchen his only response to me is that "they were serving several large parties". That's it!! No sorry. Nothing!! When I finally got the dysfunctional waitress to come to our table and advise us why everyone around us was eating and we were the only table on the restaurant not eating her only response was that they were waiting to serve our 4 dishes at one time which I immediately knew was a BS answer. This place always brings out each individual dish as it is ready. The only time they bring your dishes at one time is "if" you request it that way which never happens even if you request it that way. Last night we never requested our server to bring all dishes at one time. She was lying to our faces instead of taking care of us. At that point we got up and left as we were very hungry and had no idea if we were ever going to get our dishes delivered based on the attitudes and responses from the Manager & the dysfunctional server. The only thing the server did was open the door as we're walking out. I feel I have been a very good & loyal customer to Griffin's over the past 2 years. After going thru that experience last night I certainly won't be going back any time in the future. To many good restaurants in the Brea area to enjoy a good dinner at without experiencing poor ass service and management like this. read more

My family and I ate here recently and it was not good. I ordered a chicken salad. The chicken was rubbery and the dressing on the salad had a sour taste to it. My stomach bothered me for the next couple days. My son had the "Wagyu" burger. He said it didn't taste any different than any other burger he'd ever had. He added that the bun was inexplicably wet and soggy. My daughter had some kind of pasta dish, which she said was "ok, but not great". It was lacking in sauce and again her stomach bothered her the next couple days. Additionally, she ordered a lemonade and what showed up was a milky white liquid that tasted like thick, sugar water. I'm not sure how anyone could've poured that and not thought to themselves, "This doesn't look like lemonade." My wife was the only one who enjoyed her food. She had a steak with chimichuri sauce. Inside, it does look nice and has a lively atmosphere. We live in the area and sadly won't be back. read more

My husband and I shared their oxtail and gnocchi carbonara. Their oxtail was AMAZING so tender and fall off the bone! For those who cannot take the heat, the meat itself is not spicy so just make sure to avoid the red peppers but my god I was in heaven. And the gnocchi hit home, especially for my husband Italian side!! So delicious, definitely coming back! The restaurant is more for those who prefer cocktails, however my craft beer family have a limited selection but nevertheless it's great. Meh. Nothing terrible but just not great. Our server was friendly enough but not all that attentive. I would have had another cocktail and/or another glass of wine had she been on top of things. The ambience is ok. It's a bit dark and the table were a bit small but overall it was ok. The menu is short. It has a fair variety but I would recommend checking it out before going. It's also a little confusing. It isn't divided into sections, just one list of everything (salads, apps, entrees) straight down. The burrata was...fine. Nothing inventive. Just burrata and tomatoes. I'm not joking when I say I've taught my 6 yo to make this dish. The meatballs were pretty good. Large and my kids liked the sauce. Nice texture and good flavor. My steak wqs pretty disappointing. It was the right color but still had a lot of unrendered fat and connective tissue for medium. The seasoning was ok. Not terrible but just not a great steak. The pomme frites were excellent! Probably the best part of dinner. Just excellent flavor and texture. They had some he perfect crunch. I honestly gave an extra star just because of these. The wine menu is...not impressive. It's fine but nothing to get excited about. Maybe half a dozen reds and half a dozen whites. Mostly run of the mill stuff (Conundrum, Prisoner, etc.). Again, it wasn't terrible it was just...meh. "It was fine I guess" is the best way to describe it. Would I go back? Probably not. There are a lot of other places I would try first or pick over this one. read more

Ribeye w/ mashed potatoes 9/10 - the tiger chimichurri was AMAZING!
