I imagine the view in the summer is divine (as the place towers over the lake)... but this is not the summer so I am basing this totally on experience. I have driven by many times over the years (I had an account in Honesdale PA) and finally decided to stop on by (as it is usually packed... wallenpau-packed... wakka wakka wakka). This is the typical resort/shore type of place, and it was right in all those points. Parking is a bit strange being up and around the back but follow the signs and you will be fine. I sat up at the bar in the back as sitting alone at a table is a bit depressing (although I have done it). Service was great, the bartender was a pro and in her element, it was like she ran the place for the servers while maintaining her space at the bar effortlessly. I imagine she is a staple. The crowd, on this night, trended older.. nah, elder, I was probably the youngest chicken at the bar, and that is fine, no nonsense and mess, just people relaxing - mostly locals from the catch... and I learned more about pool filters than I ever wanted to know. So, a decent amount of craft brews on tap, I selected a Kona brew IPA without reading the board... it was one of those more "tropical" IPAs.. not my thing, not bad mind you, but not my thing. I ordered the "Seafood Cakes" which is an amalgamation of crab, shrimp and scallops ($22), salad comes with, and baked potato/fries/pasta.. I went baked tate. I have to admit I really wanted to order an app (french onion soup, mozzarella en carozza brick) but man the temptation to over eat on vacation just bit me so much lately... so I stuck with the entree only. The salad was nothing, your basic slap on salad with basic vinaigrette (served nice and cold though which I like). The bread...oy.. the bread with dipping oil plate loaded with shaved parmesan cheese in the middle... crunchy and you could taste the oven on each bite of loaf.. damn... I could have just eaten the bread all night (and to be real saved some for after the meal). My plate arrives (and I ordered a Great Lakes IPA to accompany my main, typical nice hoppy IPA)... underwhelmed, 2 hand formed sized cakes... some carrots, my tate in foil blanket, well, maybe the taste will blow me away. I sampled the first cake without the remoulade sauce... and found it OK, not bad, not great, just OK... the textures differed (which makes sense) but the overall flavor did not wow me. Add in the remoulade... and bang zip zoom... much better, but why cover the flavor? The remoulade was awesome but that is not what I want to taste but wound up dunking in every cake bite in it towards the end... so the main of my main was not great... bad? no, not at all. The tater was awesome, old school wrapped in foil with the sour cream cup on the side sprinkled with scallions... and a couple of those butter packets... man.. the memories, so spot on, and damn spudsy perfect. The carrots were cooked perfect, still had crunch, bland ? sure... but good when some pepper was added (and dipped in the remoulade). Not terrible for the price, a bit overpriced, but I get it, this place is an establishment of the area, a link to the past, a hallmark, a no BS place... it has it's place, overlooking the lake... I would bet anything you get is competent and maybe other things great, for me, this night, it was just good.. not great, but the service and location were... great. read more

Always had a good experience. Food very good, service friendly. Not much of a wine list but house red and white are adequate. Great decor and some decent views. It's a favorite go to place and we always have leftovers for lunch from their generous portions. Can't go wrong with their spaghetti and meatballs. Also like their eggplant parm. Not too many options in Hawley. We were a party of 8 and not to many places could seat us, so Greshams was our choice. The food was fair the service was cheerful but incompetent. The mandatory 15% tip may encourage this. A good place to drink or have a burger. We would not return. read more

I wanted to like this place. It certainly was busy. Our poor waitress was manning both indoor and outdoor tables which felt unfair so we just made sure we layered in some extra patience watching her have to move in and out. The appetizers we thought were very good. The calamari was well breaded and cooked well. The jerk chicken appetizer while lacking in presentation was also quite good. Unfortunately things fell apart after this. Wife had the mahi mahi special and was far over cooked. I had the NY strip steak which was flavorless and overdone as well. I do wonder if both entrees sat on the heater for a while. So perhaps during the week when it's less busy this could be an ok spot but I would t return here before checking out other local spots. read more

On vacation and went to Grisham's for dinner. Excellent & friendly service, food was very good. Reasonably priced. Braised short ribs were excellent. My wife had Mahi Mahi special which she enjoyed. Gresham's is definitely one of the better restaurants in the Lake Wallenpaupack area. I have been here many times and enjoyed each time! One or two times at most, I experienced some rudeness and unprofessional behavior, but it was not bad enough to ruin my experience. The bread with rosemary and olive oil is delicious and a great start to the meal! The menu is pretty extensive, but not the most friendly to vegetarians without some creativity. The food is good, service is pretty good, and portions are generous, plus I enjoy the Andes candies that come along with the check. It's a great steakhouse with a Gorgeous view of the lake. The staff is always friendly and helpful, my husband can never make up his mind and they help him choose. My favorite is the short ribs I get it frequently. We have always enjoyed every meal we have had there and I remember the night before thanksgiving we brought the whole family they were about to sit all 10 of us and everyone loved the meal and the sangria they made was very yummy. read more

Gave it 3 stars the food was 5 star and the place is reasonably priced. However the wait staff seems to have a bit of a attitude problem. The bartenders and bus staff were fine. This place has a great view of the lake. We had a party of 10 on a Tuesday night which is 2 for Tuesday. The bread and rosemary oil with Parmesan cheese was amazing. We had the potstickers, jerk chicken and the mozzarella block for appetizers. We had the Franchaise chicken, fried jumbo shrimp, seafood cakes, penne ala vodka, sausage and spinach cannelloni and two different pork dishes. All of the meals were great, but the highlights were the seafood cakes, the cannelloni, mashed potatoes and the mozzarella block. read more

2 Strikes and you're out. The first meal was 'okay'. Nothing special, but prices were high for what we got. Service was definitely sub-par for something as pricey. Went back a second night. Arrived at 8:30 and they close at 9:00. When we saw we were the only ones in the joint and they were wrapping up we repeatedly offered to go somewhere else. (I really don't want a pissed off chef who's already cleaned the kitchen making me dinner). But they assured us it was fine. I've never been so rushed. We were seated by 8:35. We had a drink, our appetizer and entrée and then paid the check and were out of there by 9:05. The waitress literally came over and asked if I was done when I had a mouthful of food, and took my plate away before I could even swallow or respond. Do the next latecomer a favor and tell them to go away instead. There are other, better, choices in the area. read more

Had the Eggplant Parmigiana with penne pasta and salad with their house vinaigrette. The salad was really good with the house dressing. The main dish came out hot with a large breaded slice of eggplant with a marinara sauce on top of the penne. This was excellent and I being vegetarian, I would recommend this to folks practicing that lifestyle. The only bummer was the onion rings I ordered and asked for a second time never found their way to me. Luckily they were not on the bill so I was happy with that. We have eaten here before the place is generally good and very busy. Last weekend there was a hair on the chicken Marsala. The waitress was apologetic, she was very busy and had not returned to the table for quite some time my wife had maybe 1/8 of her meal. The ownership stated they would take 1/2 off the dinner. My wife left disgusted and not satisfied. Finding a hair on a meal is just gross but can happen but caring little to take care of the customer well that is the point of the review. Food was an A+ and the service was fantastic! Why can't I give them 5 stars?!?!?! At the end of the meal they screwed up my check. When I pointed out the error they went to fix the check, brought it back and it was higher!!! How does that happen? So I ask for a manager. No manager! The server then took care of it. She was nice enough and apologized. But for a manager not to come out and offer an apology. That's a fail in my book! But like I said, food and service were both great, so 4 stars it is!!! read more

Italian dishes are good but if you go there it should be for the steaks. You'll pay $32.00 for a filet. The pork chop also tasty at $22.00. there are some lighter dishes ,like burgers for about $12.00. so even the smaller dishes are slightly overpriced. My wife and I had dinner here, about 1/2 hour wait which isn't bad for a Friday night. Calamari was very good the habanero chili dipping sauce was an exceptional addition. Ours salads were fresh and nicely sized. Make sure to get the dipping oil for your bread! My wife had the shrimp scampi over angel hair pasta which she said was okay, my braised short rib dinner was very tender and flavorful. My experience at Gresham is not what I expected. I must say the staff is excellent and very friendly. However the food does not match. Ordered a $37 NY STRIP steak medium. When I got it it was not charbroiled and fired like I thought and was Rare. I sent it back and was still rare and cut like rubber. I sent that back and ordered fried shrimp. My daughter also ordered the farrier shrimp. They were 8 large shrimp with a hard battered crust. Very well done almost burnt. We both peeled off the crust and ate the shrimp. Not good. When I go to Texas Roadhouse I order 12 ox NY STRIP and it cuts like butter. A place that has high steak prices better know how to cook them. I won't be going back. The only reason 2. Stars was the service by waitress and bus girl. The desk manager was also friendly. read more

Worst Chicken Marsala I've ever had. Have eaten here many times over the past fifteen years and the prices have gone up and the quality has gone down. Would have complained earlier but the server never checked on us. Told the server when the check was presented and all we were offered was a dessert which we did not accept. We didn't have a nice experience. When we came in we were seated right away. Everything we ordered did not taste good. Shrimp Scampi was a joke, as well as seafood cakes. Kids ordered pasta, which had no flavor and was not properly drained, so it was in the oily water and my kids refused to eat that. I did not realize how bad it was and I decided to take it home. My baked potato was served hardly warm. I don't know how it is possible, but my guess is that they just warm up what they have prepared from before???? But the most ridiculous thing they did that made me speechless, was when I asked to pack my kids unused meal to take home and one of the waitresses brought me the plastic container and told me to pack it Never in my life I saw such " wonderful" service. they didn't even bother to give me a plastic bag. The Resturant design with a view of lake is really beautiful. The service ( Amber) was right on- attentive but not overly so. The food was enjoyable- tasted well and good portions sizes however it wasn't quite as good as I had hoped. Salmon was slightly overcooked and the salad was small and plain. The best tuna steak ever! Cooked perfectly. Everyone else loved their meals too. Pretty reasonably priced too. $100 for 4 meals plus beers.

We were in the Poconos for a long weekend and were looking for a dinner spot close to The Hideout in Lake Ariel. Gresham's was about a 20 minute drive, but worth the trip. Clean and modern with good American fare, friendly wait staff and tidy bathrooms, we would return to this restaurant if we're in the area again. We sat inside, but had a nice view of Lake Wallenpaupack. Our waitress, Linda, was a true delight. We started with coconut shrimp which came with a tasty pineapple-horseradish dipping sauce. My bf enjoyed his bacon cheeseburger and onion rings and I thoroughly enjoyed my bruschetta chicken sandwich. Both came on yummy ciabatta bread. I subbed a skimpy side salad for my fries for an extra $1.25 and we both had cappuccino after dinner @ $4 each. With tax and tip, our meal was $50. read more

Normally this is one of my favorite places to eat at the lake. The past few times we have been there (3 times in July alone) the steak in our meals have been below standards. I think we will take a break and hope that the cuts they get in the future are above what we have recently had. Outside of this - all other food is amazing and the service is great. Just expect a better cut of meat from a Chop House. - Hopefully next time we go I can comeback with a better review. :-( read more

My wife and I have had the pleasure of dining at Gresham's on several occasions. On each visit we were well treated by hostess and staff. The food was terrific. On our most recent visit my wife had the shrimp over angel hair pasta. It was excellent. Accompanied by a wonderfully fresh salad she could not have been more pleased. I had the seafood cakes with caramelized carrots. While I thought the carrots were a bit undercooked, the cakes and salad were top shelf! This restaurant sits just across the street from Lake Wallenpaupack. It's exterior views and interior ambiance are wonderful and just add the icing on the cake. A great restaurant! read more

Let's start off with positive...service was wonderful. We had a wonderful waitress who was so sweet and attentive. There was a primarily 70+ crowd here and she was so concerned and caring for the patrons. I wish I got her name. Even the hostess was great about clearing dishes and asking if we needed anything. The food is where it goes wrong. We are from the metro NYC area visiting for a night and this place had great reviews. Well, their Italian food doesn't hold a candle to food where we come from. We both got the special for the night which came with penne alla vodka, chicken parm and lasagna. Ugh. Sauce was flavorless, penne was way over cooked with jar tasting sauce. Worst part was lasagna which was ice cold...not even room temp, in the center. Yuck. Screams refrigerated, old, cleaning out the fridge food. My kids had chicken fingers and didn't even eat them!! This place was amazing! We got there a little late on a Friday night so waited a little less than half hour. No problem. The band in the bar was super loud. That is the ONLY thing that wasn't awesome. I'm sorry I took no pics of the food. It was all beautiful and delicious! I got filet and my husband got the cowboy steak. Both cooked to perfection. Didn't have to wait very long be seated and service was prompt. Food was tasty, we got the cajun chicken pasta and delmonico ribeye medium rare. Ribeye wasn't anything out of the ordinary but it good nevertheless. For dessert, snicker brownie a la mode served in a cup and not the traditional plate, nice touch.
