Well, it breaks our hearts to update this review by downgrading our stars, but we had a really terrible experience here in the summer of 2026. Summer 2025 did not get a review, but it was great AND one of us even bough a Dairy Twist sweatshirt--that she will refrain from wearing again until summer 2027 when hopefully things improve. Our whole visit pretty much sucked from start to finish: 1) The girls working this year are snooty! So sorry to bother you with our orders. 2) The fried foods we tried for the first time this year are AWFUL. The "cauliflower wings" had a parmesan sauce that tasted like an odd hot sauce. The broccoli bites had 5% broccoli in them. The mozzarella sticks were hard breaded logs. The cheese curds were at least edible. 3) The soft serve that got the syrup flavoring were melting everywhere. Literally every person we saw who had a cone was dripping all over themselves and running back to get a cup. 4) The "waffle crumbs" that one of us ordered were MASSIVE chunks of broken waffle. Who wants that as a topping?? And they were so stingy with sprinkles. We were so shell-shocked to have such a bad experience here because this *was* our favorite ice cream place in the Poconos. We're settling on three stars instead of two because we are holding out hope that this was a fluke and that the love will return next summer. read more

Man...the Dairy Twist. Been here since I was a wee young lad. Got to stop by for a swirl, chocolate dipped cone on my last visit to Hawley. Delicious as always. Friendly girls working the window, and reasonable prices for the massive cones they serve. Must stop if you are in Hawley or near Lake Wallenpaupack. Hope this stays open until I'm old and grey (getting there already)! read more

Dairy Twist - Large swirl cone, dipped in chocolate. Great, as always! - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Hawley, Pennsylvania

Food is great for a quick bite to eat , ice cream portions are just right and the staff are always on point . The business is run by two owners with a bunch of regular school / college students who have been there season after season ! Ciara , Hunter , Lauren June , Paulina , Jojo and the owner Jade and the Watson owner rock ! Thank you for always making my ice cream the perfect end to my day of working hospice during the summer months read more

I have never experienced anything like Dairy Twist. This creamery has plenty of covered outdoor seating, a friendly and quick serving staff, REASONABLE PRICES, and they even sell seafood, during season. I noticed that they are ALWAYS busy and located perfectly on the busy Route 6. The portions are UNBELIEVABLE and the selections (hard or soft serve) are endless. Each and every one of our choices were creamy, delightful, and thoroughly enjoyed. I cannot recommend Dairy Twist enough. Please, give them a try and enjoy the sliver of time that you will spend in ice cream heaven. read more

Definitely try this place if you're in the mood for a dessert. Parking spots available, along with outdoor seating. The small size is rather big so if you don't want much, you may want to get a child's size. They did have a "no sugar added" option. read more

Great flavors of soft serve! Friendly staff! Wish I could go more often! So many flavors to choose from it'd be impossible to try them all!

Best ice cream around. Inexpensive for huge portions. Staff was fantastic. If your in the area this is the place...

We enjoyed our trip to Dairy Twist greatly. We came with our pup as they have outdoor seating. On the menu you can purchase a "pup cup" which is just a little bit of vanilla soft serve + a piece of puparoni. I got a root beer float and my partner got a massive ice cream cone. You don't want to miss the kind service and quaint ambiance. 5/5!! read more

My wife loves their softserve and says it is the creamiest every. But this is my review and experience, and I'm not impressed. This is the third time I've tried one of their custom softserve flavors, and I ordered the peanut butter and fudge brownie twist. Sounds great right? The girl disappeared for over 10 minutes working on mine so I don't know what complications or ran out of certain syrups, but the peanut butter tasted very washed out/weak, and the fudge brownie had absolutely no flavor at all but just a brown vanilla. Took two bites and tossed it. Very disappointing. There is another place in Honesdale, and their softserve actually has flavor. I'll keep bringing my wife back because she is a fan, but I'll going to skip or just go with their Hershey hard icecream. read more

The MOST ice cream I have ever gotten in a small cup. Very, very cheap for the amount you get. Lady was very nice and was very happy to help. All in all, I will be here again once I'm back in Pennsylvania. read more

I absolutely love the Capachino crunch with toffee and chocolate swirl! I must also say the small size is actually huge! We can't resist and we go there at least once a week! It is considered hard ice cream however it is so creamy it's kind of a perfect soft for hard. The Robust flavor of coffee and chocolate is so awesome! This is our favorite place to go! When Jake says let's go for ice cream I know we are going to the Dairy Twist!!! read more

Dairy Twist - Tiramisu IceCream !!! - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Hawley, Pennsylvania

Not my favorite place to grab a frozen treat with so many other choices in the area. I found the texture of the soft serve ice cream to be a little off - it seemed to feel a bit artificial as if it wasn't made from dairy products, but a chemical composition created to mimic ice cream. Don't know this for a fact, but it is the best way I can describe it. None the less it seemed a bit busy when I was there and they have a side window where you can also order food. So it seemed popular enough - just not the place for me. read more

Being a family of big time ice cream eaters, I feel as though we have insight into what separates the good from the great. The ice cream does not come close to the great designation. I agree with some other entries on yelp, that something is a bit off and artificial. Also, as others note, the hard ice cream isn't even homemade. Kouts is better! read more

nice place! the ice cream here is pretty good. they have SO many flavors in both soft serve and hard ice cream. the workers are nice and really fast and the portions are huge! especially big portions when it comes to the soft serve so you really get what you pay for. read more

Friendly staff and semi quick service, usually very busy but always a nice spot to satisfy your sweet tooth

The basic soft serve I would give the flavors a 8.0 out of 10. The ice cream is not fatty enough IMO and tastes a bit artificial. The toppings such as the pineapple tasted like candy pineapple that kids may like but not like a fresh ripe pineapple. The chocolate syrup tasted funky and I would stay away from it as I expect good syrup to taste like Belgian chocolate. The walnuts tasted fine but the whipped cream tasted like it was from a can as opposed to whipped heavy cream. In a pinch I would buy the basic soft serve flavors and just have it with walnuts. read more

Tons of soft serve and hard ice cream. The soft serve is mixed with syrup to make the other flavors. Fast, friendly service, but don't try to order anything too complex...I think we confused a few people ordering a twist. Check their Facebook for updated hours. I recommend the Dusty Roads sundae! read more

Have been going to this place for years and years and they're under new ownership. The people who work the front counter are very nice. We were served right away, if they saw a line they opened another window, and we were asked 2 times while we waited if we were being helped. Parking is much easier now and they do snacks as well. The new owners need to do a couple of things in my opinion. The sign says 24 flavors of soft serve, which they used to have and I loved, but now only have 3. (And one of those is chocolate-vanilla twist so it really shouldn't count) If they're not going to up the soft flavors they need to bring in more hard ice cream flavors, only had about 12 or so. I asked for black cherry which they did not have. They do however have some nice sundaes and specialty stuff for you to order. Also I never understood the fact that they sell "fresh frozen"(?) seafood there for you to take home and cook. Doesn't seem to make sense: Ice Cream AND Fish?? In my opinion just do the ice cream really well.....but what do I know. All in all I'm a fan of this great local place and go back with my family almost every night I'm in the area. read more

Wow! Delicious ice cream at this traditional road side stand. Amazing variety of flavors and options.

I came here while on vacation with my family. They have over 24 flavors of soft serve ice cream which is awesome. I got the peanut butter which was very good and also sampled my family's flavors including maple nut, peach, and blueberry. They were all very good. My only complaint was that I also got cookie dough topping on my ice cream which did not have much flavor. However, my family got other toppings that were good. Also, another unusual thing is that if you order the soft serve, they only sell it in the medium size. However, you can order hard ice cream in 4 different sizes. I thought this was weird because I would have ordered a small and thus ended up throwing some ice cream out. Overall, the ice cream was good, the staff was friendly and quick, and the price was right! read more

Lots of people here but very quick service. 24 flavors?!?! Amazing! Friendly staff willing to help a very undisisive group work their way through the menu. Yum! read more

I have had the ice cream a few times but I really stop for the lobster rolls. Great price and as good as any I've had in the city or more-seaside town. Don't know what they do but the seafood is surprisingly great! Also love that it looks like a classic ice cream stand. Nice work with the few hand-painted signs I've seen. Sometimes the parking area gets a bit messy with litter. read more

This is the best soft ice cream me , my wife, my son, his fiancee have ever had. We're jonesing some right now and just called up to make sure they're open As for the negative reviews wouldn't be surprised if they worked at one of the empty competitors down the road. Our only worry is they're for sale. Hope whoever buys it keeps the recipe. read more

The woman that waited on us was very friendly and helpful. The ice cream was so good! I would have given 5 stars but it's a little pricey for how much ice cream you get. read more

I agree with Mike S. I can tell everyone for a fact that this ice cream place does serve ice cream with synthetic ingredients and artificial flavors. Since I am someone who believes in all natural and organic foods, I asked them if they had artificial ingredients in ice cream and they said themselves it does contain monoglycerides and corn syrup, and the special flavors are artificial. Whipped cream I am 95% sure was out of a can with more preservatives. For those who are all natural and organic like me, do not go here. You are better off getting turkey hill or breyers all natural ice cream at the super market and flavoring it naturally yourself, since you are spending the same money anyway. My family thinks they are good, but I sincerely believe they are nothing special and the Whistle Stop in Waldwick NJ blows them out of the water. 1 star read more
