Stopped by for gas and saw the resturaunt right across. We were hungry so we stopped in. Everyone was so kind and understanding with whatever we needed. Prices are reasonable and proteins are huge! The ravioli was the best with beef and pork stuffed in them. The fettuccine Alfredo had smooth and silky noodles but the chicken was a little too dry/tough. We went there tonight, Wednesday, to have the pizza buffet. When we arrived, they had just brought out a vegetable pizza. Then very soon after that they brought out a pepperoni pizza and a cheese pizza. There were 2 kinds of wings on the buffet along with fresh garlic knots, soup and salad. Came here for some lunch while on a weekend away with my best friend. Overall, it was just ok. The restaurant appears to be a converted diner, but they have a lot to offer within the menu. Directly left is the pizza area complete with oven. Facing the rear right side is the kitchen, and then there's plenty of seating with tables and booths for the restaurant. If you go to the right through the main door, then you're in the bar, which I did not check out. I started with the spinach and strawberry salad with goat cheese and almonds. I think the spinach must've been on its last freshness date because it tasted bitter. The goat cheese was nice and the almonds were supposed to be toasted. I then had a meatball parm hoagie. I was very disappointed. I really need to start asking if the meatballs are homemade or not. These were definitely not. Four small Chef-Boy-R-Dee tasting balls in a hoagie roll that made them look even smaller. The roll was too soft and should have been toasted like a grinder. The sauce and pizza cheese were plentiful and made this sandwich. I only ate the meatballs and a quarter of the huge roll. I also had an Orange Creamsicle "drink of the month." This was nice and strong with the alcohol. My friend had a Stromboli with ham and peppers. Again, he was satisfied but not thrilled with it. He even got upcharged a buck for tomato sauce in a cup which he did not ask for. But it did improve the Stromboli. Pepsi products here. Ugh. With so many choices on the menu, I'm not sure if anything is a real winner or everything is just average. Overall, we were full at the end. $56 including tax and tip for one appetizer, one drink, and two entrees. The outside is not much to look at, neither is the inside really. The staff was friendly and very attentive, they definitely deserve more than two star. However the food was fair. To start the salad came very promptly, however the tomato vinaigrette was not tasty. My husband was unable to even eat it. The bread that came was also tasteless, however the breadsticks were very good. I had the chicken piccata. It was very tasty with a lot of sauce, a bit on the watery side. Served with fresh spinach and a side of my choice of a baked potato. There was a lot of chicken, enough for two servings. My husband had the calamari marinara. Stopped here for a late dinner because all of the other area restaurants were closing at 9:00pm. We ordered the French Onion soup, some wings and the baked stuffed clams. The French Onion soup tasted better than it looked. It was unlike any French Onion soup I ever ate. It tasted a lot like vegetable soup and all of the cheese melted and sunk to the bottom. I don't think I'd ever order it again. It was strange. The wings were decent. Not good and not bad. Nothing more to say. The baked stuffed clams were not good. Not sure what the stuffing was. Enjoyed all the food. Unfortunately did not get everything we ordered and could not go back. Ordered a pepperoni calzone and it was not in our bag. The food,otherwise was pretty good. This restaurant is located near Lake Wallenpaupack. We ordered strombolis, chicken roll (sort of a chicken stromboli shaped like a rectangle), garlic knots, and a cheese steak. All were somewhere between very good and excellent. Ordering by phone was very pleasant even though I could hear the other lines ringing and being put on hold. We ordered for pick up and they made sure that the order was correct and let us know how everything was packed. Parking was easy and it was ready exactly when they said it would be. Was told I would get a call back..never happened..3 1/2 hours later I was told I didn't get a call back because the li es were all busy... I told them to keep it....after 4 hours a manager called me back and attempted an apology. Ambiance/Decor/Atmosphere: Half diner-like and half pizza kitchen. It's pretty bare bones inside this place, but the staff does it's best to make it as warm and inviting as possible. And, the floors, the windows, the rest rooms all needed a good scrubbing. Noise/sound level: Average noise level, no reason to complain about it, and nothing that will ruin your evening. Menu: Too big; typical diner style of menu with an additional pizza menu on top of it. It will take some time to decide what you want unless you're set on a particular item or a regular and order the exact same thing every time. Service: I went on Christmas eve one year and the service was as good as it could have been given the holiday. The wait staff is attentive, friendly, and quick to check in on you. Food: Here's where John's goes down hill super fast. The food is seriously diner food; from a can, or the freezer, or a box, or a bucket, or something not freshly made, and even then probably nuked by Chef Mic. I ordered Veal Milanese because honestly it's not something I see often around these parts. It was paper thin, super soft, and super pliable. It was accompanied by graying "green" beans and canned mashed potatoes. I couldn't eat all of it because I was upset I paid for food I could have made at my own home. Bar: Full Price: Moderate, but considering it's frozen food the prices should be lower. Overall: This John's for some reason is always packed to the gills, but it fails uberly in comparison to the John's in Hamlin. The food is not good here in Greentown at all, and if you fall prey to the positive reviews that's simply because those people grew up eating in Greentown. Do yourself a tremendous favor and drive fifteen more minutes to Hamlin and enjoy the John's there. read more

Then the waitress walked us to put outdoor seating ((which was a tent right by the gas station where there were very loud smelly trucks just outside the tent). The waitress' mask was also only over her mouth. When I told her her mask was slipping, she laughed at me and made no effort to pick it up. We walked out. Came back and took our order .My friend got soup , which he said was horrible. He got his salad. I waited for my salad . Drink order never came. Another person came with our food. Lasagne and eggplant parm. I finally got a salad. Never got bread but they did bring butter. Finally drink order arrived.My egg plant parm came with pasta which was thrown together in the same bowl. From the outside and the inside, this place is a throwback to a long time ago. We went into the restaurant side of the building. There were 2 tables occupied with customers and one in the middle with 2 women sitting at it. One of them got up after a few minutes and sat us. I guess she was the hostess. She led us to a booth, but we asked for a table and then she became very friendly. Go figure. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. The have a semi-open kitchen and the cook was busy and looked like he enjoyed his job. I ordered a sandwich and my companion ordered a cheesesteak. Both had plenty of meet and cheese and the bread was good. No complaints. The prices were reasonable and average. I ordered Yuengling Draft and my companion had Heineken in a bottle.
