If I could give zero stars I would. First it took 3 hours to get our food and it was soft and soggy My sister threw up. It was so bad it took an hour and a half to get our appetizers. Do not come here!! We had reservations for 5:30 and were seated early at about 5:20. We then ordered our drinks and it was fine. Then we ordered our food and an appetizer. We waited and waited for about 1 hour until our appetizer arrived. Then we waited another 30 minutes for our food. The food came and my order was wrong!!! Then they brought a new dish and it was cold. I ate it and it was definitely not worth an hour and a half wait. We then had to wait another 20 minutes for our check. Also they dropped about 5 things of glass on the floor and one dish on a person. They gave us mints at the end and they were super sticky and inedible. Inconsistent with quality of haddock fish fry. Ordered in past, and quantity and quality great. Opted for cole slaw instead of salad or soup. Upcharged $2 for the substitution...beverage of diet coke and unsweet tea ordered. Refills provided and another upcharge. Our total for meal was steep. Servers need to advise customer of upcharges. Stopped by on Wednesday for wing night and thoroughly enjoyed it. At least six different types of wings available with both dry rub and sauce. All you can eat for 16$ plus you get soup or salad and there's a baked potato bar included with fixings. You can't beat it. But make a reservation or you can simply sit at the bar which has full service. Our bartender was very nice and attentive and the food was delicious. My husband and I have been to " The Hotel" more times than I can count. The food is always amazing really amazing. Service is fast.

While being there for a hour and a half we seen the waitress five times. The New York Strip steak is not recommended as it was not a New York strip cut. The meat was very light in color with no flavor. The fat content on the 14oz steak was ridiculous. Could not even chew the little bit I was able to eat. Went there last night for dinner. The food was very good. However, I order a drink (Grey Goose Vodka on the rocks) before dinner. When the check arrived I was very surprised to see a charge for $20.25 for my drink, which was higher than our dinner entrees. When I questioned our waitress her smart remark was that she doesn't set the prices. On our way out after paying our check i stop and questioned another waitress who explained that it was a double shot, which I did not order. Believe me this was no way a double shot. She explained our waitress made an error and my drink should have been only $14.00. I've been to many of the finest restaurants in Northeast PA. and no where has a Grey Goose on the rocks ever been $14.00. They refunded me the difference in cash and I told they to give it to our waitress. I will go back again for the food but will drink water with my dinner. Just be aware of their drink prices. read more

I can only review for lunch menu but the choices are endless. 50 sandwiches!! Plus many other selections. My one negative was the pulled pork could have used some barbeque sauce but knowing that will ask for it next time. The waitress was very nice and there was lots of seating for social distancing. Okay, just finished 18 holes at Skytop and looking for something to eat. Wandered around and fell into this place. In-frigging-believable. Even after the Covid scare this place has a 8 page menu. Service was outstanding. Bartender named "Latina" made my wife the best Cosmopolitan she's ever had. Local bar patron put on a comedy program from the Shecky Greene joke book. Wife had a roast beef sandwich with crabmeat and cheese. I had poutine and buffalo wings and couple of Molsons. Desserts were exceptional. We're going back for their prime rib and steak weekly specials. Outstanding. read more

Went to the Hotel for dinner on Valentines Day. We had just driven up and didn't feel like anything too fancy. The food at the Hotel has always been fine, not great, but good enough. WOW!! They must have a new chef, the food was fantastic! Special and varied menu offerings including an amazing Ahi Tuna salad! The soup was delicious and unique, plenty of vegetarian offerings on the specials. I hope some of these items are added to the regular menu, so we can become regulars. read more

My hubby and I came here while staying at the French manor. First the bartender, Madeline was extremely friendly and attentive. We decided to sit at the bar but note you need a reservation for dining room on weekends; it's a smaller place and they fill up quick. My husband had the balsamic chicken which was tasty, well presented. I had the prime rib special for 24 dollars which was cooked to my liking and flavorful. Great experiences and not too $$$. I was visiting the Poconos for a retreat with my sister and was looking for somewhere to get a satisfying lunch in a casual setting. After some research on Yelp I found "The Hotel" in Newfoundland. Over all really great experience. It's definitely locals place with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel like you're away from home in the country but home. The seating for dining includes comfortable, large booths adjacent to the bar with little windows that give just enough natural light. Lots to look at to occupy yourself and soak in. It took us some time to decide on our meal selections because there were so many good choices -- from big salads, to open faced sandwiches to a steak under $20. The best part other than the wide range of tasty sounding food, a great selection of beers offered as a flight and reasonable prices was the exceptional service. I'm not talking about Michelin star, "yes, sir" white or dark napkin blah blah, I'm talking friendly, happy people who like their job. There's no training for that, it is what it is. Our servers were genuine, patient and cared about our experience. They made sure we were happy with our meal from start to finish. This place just does it right. A spoon in my unsweetened iced tea to stir in sugar, lemons in the waters, extra napkins. It's the little things. The salad was massive and fresh, with perfectly cooked grilled chicken. Crunchy tasty fries were just what you'd expect and want, and my side of chili had hunks of tender brisket meat and a unique aromatic, spicy flavor with varied beans. I didn't get to try the seafood bisque because my fellow diner didn't give me the chance. I love writing good reviews for places that deserve it. Found a pretzel in my sandwich. Didn't mind until the owner came over and pretty much accused my family of putting it in my dish. Which could explain why the employees seemed abrasive as well. My steak sandwich was horrible, regardless of the extra ingredient added into it. My brothers burger was burnt. And my fathers steak extremely over cooked. Far better options for food in the area. Rocking bar / restaurant. When in this part of Pennsylvania, I almost always hit this place. They have great burgers and bar foods and the place gets to hopping at night. The crowd is definitely local- very casual. There is a pool table and they also have live music which really packs the place out. The prices are excellent and I usually get pretty pickled without breaking breaking the bank. The only downside is that they still smoke in bars / restaurants in PA and man you will choke if you are not used to that anymore. There is some limited parking in front and a big field out back - also it appears you can park across the road at night when the business there is closed. read more

After three years of driving past, My fiancé and I finally stopped here on our way to the GDS fair. We arrived around 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon, and the place was half filled but became packed by the time we left two hours later. There is plenty of table and booth seating as well as bar seating. The menu is fairly large. Tons of sandwich, wrap, salad, and entree offerings. They also have an impressive craft beer selection via cans and bottles. I think The Hotel would get different reviews depending on what your reasoning is for eating there. If you're eating here because you live in the area or if you just happen to be in the area and have nothing else to do, then this could be a great spot for you! Its cheap prices and decent beer selection, along with outdoor seating could be a combination for a great night. If you're from the area, you'll probably even run into many people you know. Now if you're just passing by and are looking for a quick bite like I was, then this might not be the place for you. We ordered a salad and a corned beef sandwich and it took upwards of an hour to get. The bartender, who was very sweet, made us wait even longer for the bill as she was chatting with another patron about tattoos or something. The salad was enormous, but not great, and the cheese slipped right off the corned beef sandwich before it even hit my place mat. Overall, I could come back for a drink and maybe some bar food, as long as I wasn't in a hurry! read more
