The service here was excellent. This was our first visit to Great Harvest, and they were very patient as we perused our options and placed our order. Their bread card (buy 5 loaves, get a free cookie; buy 10 loaves, get a free loaf) was explained and prepared for us to take. They also offered us a flyer explaining what breads/goodies are regulars, and which ones appear on certain days of the week or upcoming special occasions. We tried a lemon sunburst, a pepperoni roll, and a brownie for our first visit. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The lemon loaf was so fresh out of the oven that we were advised to wait 2 hours before bagging it in the plastic bag they enclosed, instead leaving it open in a paper bag to carry it home in. It was still warm when we had our first bites! The brownie was a huge square and full of chocolatey goodness. Parking is plentiful in the large shopping center lot. We're definitely curious to try more from the delicious flavor options, and those giant cookies also looked tasty! read more

Wonderful bakery in Upper Arlington! Came in on a weekday morning and was promptly greeted. Selection (and scents) were vast. I appreciated the offer for a sample of ginger cookie or pumpkin bread. I opted for the latter and it was INCREDIBLE. Insanely moist and soft. Outstanding flavor. Seriously delicious. We opted for a loaf of gluten free bread and garlic cheddar - $15 out the door. I made a special trip here for cinnamon bread one night last week. They were out of the extreme cinnamon, but I got a loaf of cinnamon chip, the cinnamon butter, and two brownies. Great customer service, and the best bread ever. The brownies were amazing. The cinnamon chip makes awesome french toast (with the cinna butter too). I've been here several times over the years and highly recommend a visit. My favorite is their White Chocolate Cherry, which is available on Fridays. read more

Went to pick up a order for the holiday. Employees are nice and speedy. I sampled the cinnamon chip bread and it was delicious! My garlic cheese bread was just coming out of the oven! I don't often get bread here, but I would like to advocate for the pepperoni roll. First of all, it's bigger than my hand. Get one of these fresh out of the oven and you have a warm and delicious meal (or two if you're like me and can't eat it all). Second, you can get it with or without banana peppers. I didn't discover this until recently and was pleasantly surprised as pepperoni and banana peppers is my favorite pizza combo! There's also cheese inside, but nothing that takes away from the amazing dough. They also make delicious chocolate brownies that have chips in them. I don't have a picture because I ate it almost immediately after purchase. I highly recommend getting one when they have it. They don't always have the same food every day but you can always preorder items. They also do a rewards card to get free bread. My mom has been bringing us here since we were kids. It is hands down the BEST bread in all of columbus, maybe the country, maybe even the world. They have so many different varieties, our favorites are the cinnamon xtreme and the Gluten Free cinnamon, but the whole wheat honey is also delicious. Each loaf is around $5.50 and they make great gifts- people are always delighted. When you go into the store, they will offer you a sample of bread with some spread (butter, jam, etc) which makes the experience even better. You can win a free cookie after 5 loaves bought, and a free loaf after 10 loaves bought. The only small disappointment is that the cookies are not as good as they look; I would recommend sticking to the bread. read more

The bread here is amazing! They have samples of a variety of fresh breads and butters to try, all made in the store. I tried regular white bread with garlic and herb butter, it was excellent. We purchased a loaf of the cinnamon bread, which was very delicious. They also have a variety of spreads and mixes in the store. There were a lot of customers coming in as we were leaving. The bread and bakery products here are outstanding. A short list of simple ingredients and fresh milled flour are key parts of what makes them special. The cookies are divine and delicious. The have a nutty depth of flavor with just the right (maybe too much for some) amount of sweetness. Expect free samples to be on the counter when you arrive. The bread is fantastic, I especially like the honey whole wheat. Don't stock up unless you've got a freezer...few if any preservatives in their products. Mixes are available for some products. If you're not too far away, I recommend supplementing your grocery shopping trips with a regular visit to Great Harvest Bread. read more

I don't really understand some of the other reviews of this bakery, Great Harvest doesn't make crusty types of breads, because its not what they do, If you want that you should head to Omega Bakery at the North Market. The menu changes every month and varies from day to day. I think my favorites have to be the golden wheat cinnamon chip and the cinnamon swirl, they are both great for breakfast. They also make slew of other items which are delicious, like cinnamon rolls, a variety of cookies, brownies, bars and scones. I don't think I have ever had anything bad here, plus you can always sample before you you buy. read more

I've been several times, and while they have a few decent things, for the most part, this is not the place to go if you like bread. It's all very soft, sweet and really doughy. They don't make any good crusty artisan breads. I don't think the oven temp is set very high and ALL of their breads are loaded with sugar. They do make really good cookies, but their brownies taste like they are made from a mix. They also don't make everything everyday, so you have to look at their schedule and plan ahead so you don't show up hoping to get something only to be told you'll have to wait until Thurs. They DO give out generous free samples, however they only really like to sample what's already on the board though so if you want to try something else, expect a few dirty looks. It's also pretty expensive. Expect to be pay $7 for a loaf of bread. I will occasionally stop in if I'm over that way and want a sweet fix, but this is not the place to get good bread. read more

I wanted a whole wheat bread with minimal ingredients. Since I was at the TJ Maxx, I decided to stop by here. The man at the counter was not friendly at all. They had samples, but he didn't offer me any. I didn't bother to ask for a sample because of his unfriendliness. (even though I absolutely love to sample free stuff!) Pretty sure the morning I visited I surprised the workers as I came in the door 3 minutes after they opened. Gotta get brownies for coworkers if you know what I mean! Anyway, I was greeted and helped quickly so that I could get on with my morning. I asked for 6 of the brownies and they were fresh and still hot when they were cut and packaged for my order. I have had several other sweets from here and they all have been wonderful. I would definitely come in and get the brownies again... they were fabulous! An EXCELLENT place for the carb-unconscious! (Read: me) Be prepared to get jealous looks from your Atkins-dieter counterpart stepping inside GNC next door. You've been warned. Bread menu changes day-to-day although everyday breads include: Honey Whole Wheat, Old-fashioned White, Ten Grain Whole Wheat, and the Pepperoni Rolls. With the exception of the pepperoni rolls, everything else seemed too plain for me, which is why I have always opted for other wholesome goodnesses such as: Cinnamon Swirl, Cheddar Garlic, and Cherry Chocolate Swirl. The Cherry Chocolate Swirl could easily be a dessert in of itself! Keep in mind that Great Harvest's definition of 'swirl' translates to thick layer. Other offerings at Great Harvest include deli sandwiches, scones, and cookies. Great Harvest also carries a wide selection of spreads and preserves. I highly recommend getting the cinnamon butter spread, which complements most bread options, as well as the pineapple preserve. I have been to this bakery a few times and I will cosign the sentiment that this is carb heaven. first off they let you sample the bread and they have multiple types of bread that you can try out and slather in butter...mmmm butter on carbs....the sundried tomato was my fave until i tried the super cinnamon one and OMG it's basically a cinnamon roll masquerading as bread. i tried it and immediately bought a loaf. I've also had a Choc chip cookie and a brownie which were good as well though nothing to hit the floor about. they have a ton of spreads/butters which I think are locally made though i haven't tried any yet. I have been frequenting this bread shop for years and the only time I am ever disappointed is when I get there later in the day and most of the bread is gone. Someone else mentioned they don't have any crusty Italian style breads, that is true. However, the breads they do make are soft and delicious. My favorites are the cheddar garlic loaf and the cinnamon swirl. If you get the cinnamon swirl look for the whipped cinnamon butter in the refrigerator to go with it.
