Anyway, my angel of a boyfriend brought me here for treats. We skipped in just before closing - as a bakery, they start early and close by 3. Immediately, the sights and scents take me back to a corner bakery on Long Island or in the city. I practically ran to the black & white cookies - a forever fave! We got cannolis and the B&W but I will definitely be back to try more things. The cookie was out of this world and just like from my favorite Manhattan corner deli. Walked in and was greeted quickly from someone in the back. I loved seeing the options on display and lots of signage, such a cute little space. The crust reminded me of a linzer torte crust from back in Germany which is made out of ground hazelnuts and no flour, this was very similar, very different from your run of the mill pie crust which I am not a fan of anyways. The pecan, nice and crunchy, sugary, delicious! Support a great cause and stop by here on the weekend, you will not be disspointed! The prices are also way better than at pattycake!

I'm gluten free, and my wife is gluten, dairy, and egg free so we plan as though we are on our own in the small towns we love to visit so much. Boy we're we wrong in Newark, OH! Madelyn's is a treasure. We tried the cinnamon roll bar (stocked at River Road Coffee), two different kinds of muffins, a jalapeño "cheese" focaccia, and homemade oatmeal crème pies. My only complaint was that the focaccia was a little dry. The oatmeal crème pies were so good! I'm sure they're even better when fresh. The shop is warm and inviting, and the staff were very friendly and helpful! Again, another place in central Ohio that we will be back to!
