Very cute bakery/coffee shop in Bexley. Some parking spots available right in front of the shop. The guys working inside were super friendly and took the time to explain what all the yummy baked goods were. I drove out of my way to visit, as this was on my list to visit. I got there about 10:45a, they didn't have very many items left. That was okay but there was no menu listed anywhere that I saw. There were no tags near the items saying what anything was. I asked the gentleman behind the counter was a muffin looking thing was and he said it was a citrus lavender muffin. I ordered that as I didn't want to ask what the items left were. I guess there were drink options too but again no menu to see what was available. The most disappointing part was I paid almost $5 for the muffin, took the first bite and was immediately thrown off by how dry it was. There was a light citrus flavor there but the dryness of the cake was disgusting. It tasted like it was many days old. I tried to take another bite and it got stuck in my throat. I needed water to help get it down. After two bites I decided it wasn't worth it to literally choke it down. What a waste of money. read more

My husband picked up an assortment of gluten free treats for my birthday. I would say for a gluten free item they were decent but you can definitely tell what you're eating is gluten free. The taste / texture gives it away for sure, but I've had things from other gf bakeries where I honestly couldn't even tell. We came in an hour before closing, but even with the smaller selection there were some great finds! We both had quiche which was delicious. There were wonderfully balanced notes of parsley and cheese that pulls like a TV commercial. The treat box we assembled included a chewy brownie, zesty lemon square, and a poppyseed muffin. I happened upon this gem of a bakery as it is a few miles from where I work on Fridays. The first thing I noticed was how friendly the staff was. They were also baking, which makes sense, as I was in a bakery, but these days those things aren't such a given. Anyways Cherbourg is a gluten free bakery and the lovely young women who helped me said that it is owned and founded by her mother. And they even have another location in Cincinnati. Because I came in after work, the selection was slightly limited but I picked up a few cheesy bites and sugar cookies with frosting. The cheesy bites are light, fluffy, and a nice alternative to a breakfast muffin or bread. And the cookies were nice a crisp with a creamy and full buttercream frosting. I had a chance to check out the menu and would love to come back and try the mini cream puffs or lemon bars. My mouth is literally watering just thinking about it. Definitely recommend this place! So.....I definitely had a different experience here than other reviewers it seems. To be fair, my expectations for a gluten free bakery are high because it is basically my idea of heaven. We arrived and there were five staffers working. Not one person greeted us when we entered (it is tiny inside) and finally one woman had to straight up tell the the staff to "please someone help these people." Not a great welcome. We asked if they had quiche and we got a terse "we sold out." OK. I also found it odd there is seemingly no menu available anywhere. You just have to ask what every item in the bakery case is. We came away with some cheese jalapeño bites and two kinds of donuts - coffee and chocolate glazed. The coffee donut was incredible. Like epically delicious. The other baked goods were dry and underwhelming. I think this was a one time visit for me. read more

Their caramelized onion quiche is outstanding. The lemon bars are divine. I gifted one in a nice box with their mini donuts in six different flavors to my colleague with Celiac disease. Really cute French atmosphere. Love that the baked goods come out in their original pans straight from the oven. The staff is pretty helpful with recommending items based on your preferences. Since they are gluten free and nut free, it's great for catering large parties. I have gotten items for a party of 100 people and they were extremely easy to communicate with start to finish. Love the s'mores bar, strawberry donuts, coffee donuts, lemon bars, strawberry scones, and blueberry muffins. The only negative is that they run out of items quickly. So you really need to be there within 1-2 hours of opening. If you go at noon there are slim pickings. read more

Baked goods? Delicious. Service? Room for improvement. As someone with a gluten sensitivity, I was excited to find this bakery in Bexley. The prices are no more outlandish than I'm used to paying for home baked gluten free, nut free options. And everything I've tried has been delicious! I've gotten used to the fact that things sell out fast because it's a small bakery. However, I've stopped being interested in coming to the bakery earlier because there's always a line. There doesn't seem to be any urgency on the part of the servers to assist customers. Last time I went in, someone's grandmother was visiting and half the staff was standing around talking. This morning, I was in line behind a group of 6 customers who were dithering over what to order. I just wanted a muffin. I asked if I could please cut the line since I was only buying one thing and everyone looked at me like I had three heads. Everyone has been very nice and welcoming, but I'd pass on the nice if the line could move along faster. read more

Rainy Saturday, 3 p.m. I needed a nap antidote. I asked the clerk what pastry she would recommend. "Everything." Fair enough. "People really like our brownies and lemon bars," she added. Simple enough. I sipped a dark roast coffee, expertly slow-brewed by the owner herself, and a moist, dark chocolate brownie while reading at one of the interior cafe tables. On a nicer day I would have chosen a table outside...for hours...with another cup of coffee and perhaps one of those lemon bars. read more

Navigating the flow of this little bakery is a bit tricky, and while nothing is labeled (it seems more local clientele based), the staff is happy to inform you of everything available. I got a few things, and among my items the favorite was definitely the buttermilk strawberry donut and their chocolate cheesecake cupcake with buttercream frosting. So good you wouldn't believe it's gluten free. Personally I have a wheat intolerance and finding bakeries of rapport are hard to come by, but I have to say I was really pleased with the options available here. I might recommend a better layout for the pastry window and labeling items. This could make the place a little more inviting to those coming in outside the neighborhood, and potentially help with the flow of the bakery traffic. Some of the best customer service here! All the girls working behind the counter were really nice, personable, and seem to love their jobs and the customers who come in! I came close to 1 on a Saturday to meet a friend who is both gluten and nut free. This place serves people with those exact allergies!! I've been to gluten free bakeries before but not everything is usually nut free. She could eat everything here!! When we walked in, there were a few people sitting at the tables. I saw Parents with their kids and I saw some young girls eating in here. There was a lady with her son picking up some pastries. Seems like most people pick up stuff rather than sitting in here. The space was smaller than I thought! Three tables at the front and some at the back (not sure how many since I didn't walk back there). There was outside seating too though. The table we sat at could sit maybe 5 people? Most tables were for about 2-3, but there was an outside table that could be for 4-5 people. They had a variety of stuff out: cheddar biscuits, lemon bars, cupcakes, etc. They eventually brought out cookies. Their selection seems to change throughout the day, so best you call if you're looking for something specific. I got a cheddar and jalapeño biscuit and a s'mores bar. My other friend also got the s'mores bar while another friend got the zucchini bread. We all got coffee. My friends got it hot while I got it iced. Everything was delicious! Well-made, not dry at all, flavorful. They did a good job with presentation. Every cup is made as a pour over. How nice that they take the time to make each individual cup! It tasted like a medium roast maybe? Not all that strong. I paid around $6, which was a good price. Bake Me Happy is a bit more expensive although their baked goods are much larger. Overall, seems like a fun work environment! It's fun watching them make the pastries. The played pretty chill music, some Jason Mraz and Ingrid Michelson. The small store front bakery had been in business about ten years (give or take). It's located near the residential area of Bexley on the end of Drexel. There is limited parking on the street right in front of the bakery. There's a few small tables if you wanted to sit in and enjoy your baked good. They have all kinds of goodies here. From breakfast quiche to apple pie bars. They are a bit pricey. Everything ranges from $2.50-$5.00+ each. I think the prices would be more reasonable if the sizes were larger. Everything they make is gluten free and nut free. But they do use coconut. The feedback that we got on the best items were there smores bars, cheddar jalapeno biscuits and apple pie bars. I tried the lemon bars. The shortbread on the bottom was amazing, the lemon was super tart. I know that you've earned some new customers. Welcome to the Friday bakery club! read more

The baked goods here are to die for!! My non gluten free people beg me to get them their favorites when I go stock up. Annoying that they are completely out of stuff by 1 pm on Saturday though. They might have 1 pan of lemon bars or key lime bars left.. which are wonderful, but I like to be able to choose a dairy free and gluten free treat. Cute place.. tables outside in sidewalk very nice. This is such a gem. I probably spent ten minutes staring at the pastry options before I finally decided. As others have stated, Cherbourg is gluten and nut free and they don't use any gums. There isn't a huuuuge selection of goods (at least whenever I come at noon) but everything they have is very enticing. I've tried the blueberry muffin - had the most blueberries in a muffin that I've ever seen - the s'mores bar, and the granola bar. Everything has been excellent. And I heard from my co-workers that the donuts are to die for. Don't expect these to be inexpensive. I paid $10 for 3 pastries. But these are quality products with quality ingredients so I don't mind paying a little more. I feel good after eating Cherbourg's and it makes me want to come back again and again. Not to mention, this shop is ADORABLE and it's located in a cute little strip in Bexley. The staff are also very friendly. P.S. there is parking in the back but it can be a little tight. I LOVE how many options there are out there for people with allergies and sensitivities! I've known people with but allergies and celiacs disease who were always nervous about where they can eat. This place is such a gem for those with food allergies! My only complaint is that you need to get here early for the best selection of baked goods, but that's pretty normal for bakeries. I can't say I've had anything that hasn't been delicious! I've tried the signature lemon bars as well as the cookies, and the most delicious granola bars! This is one of my favorite places! My two daughters and I had to go gluten free in June 2019-- one daughter and I being very reactive to gluten and my other daughter able to tolerate small amounts. As the granddaughter/daughter of a baker, it was torture having to give up all the things I knew and loved, so I did a search for GF bakeries and found this gem, which is pretty close to where I live and our first visit turned out to be last August after I dropped off my girls for their first day of school. SCORE! GF frittata, donuts, lemon bars, brownies and cookies! (oh my!) They even sell their own blend of flour and over coffee! Not much seating, which is fine since we took our box to go, as we had other places to stop off at. Their baked goods are made daily, are of a fantastic quality and very much NOT gritty, gummy, dry or blah like some of the stuff you find at the store or other specialty shops. Hours and quantities are pretty limited, so that's worth keeping in mind, but it's well worth the trip, we always go on a weekday in the morning for that reason. read more
