I was seeking a local coffee shop in the neighborhood to work from and this one fit the bill! I loved the neighborhood feel of it- lots of locals in and out, the staff seemed to know their regulars, and were equally friendly to this newcomer. The prices were fair and the place was comfortably and cozy. Seating is limited, but midday, I was able to grab a table. I could see it being questionable in the mornings when they're busier. I hung out until close on the day I came in, and didn't feel rushed out. It was a great place to grab a coffee and hang for a couple of hours. If I find myself in the neighborhood looking to hang for a bit and/or grab a coffee, I'll be sure to stop in again! read more

The sunlight coming in through the windows illuminates the place nicely, there is beautiful local art on the walls, and the music they played gave a soft touch! You're greeted from the street, the aromas are present from the outside in & began with a couple outdoor seating situated over a bright sunlight, no shade. It's welcoming upon entry. The interior has cool art attached to the exposed brick walls with a floor to ceiling storefront window, loaded with plants. The ambiance is moved by the great choice of urban music, a total vibe. With ample staff and a mere full house, I was able to quickly place an order that was swiftly made. They were out of an ingredient but offered to supplement it. Product was great with a fair value. Upper Cup Coffee at 79 Parsons Avenue is located at the edge of downtown and Olde Towne East (I'd definitely say it's an OTE business). The coffee is great, and it's just down the street from my apartment. Super convenient and friendly staff and good service. It has a great neighborhood coffee shop vibe. There's seating inside (and outdoors in warm weather), but I always grab mine to go. It's a popular spot, with people working on laptops or catching up over coffee. It's a great location and there are many business on Parsons and the surrounding area that you can stop into as well. Definitely recommend and worth checking out! I will say a very very nice first experience here. We were at a breakfast spot nearby and walked by. I had to stop because it is just such a quintessential coffee aestheric. You feel welcomed walking in immediately and can smell the coffee roasting. I ordered a vanilla latte customized with only 1 pump of vanilla (and they use MONIN which is excellent) and received it very quickly though they were steady. The Barista was a young woman and super friendly....and got my drink spot on!! It was delicious and even served with a cute latte design on top. I would come back to try more on the menu. I finally made it to the Old Towne East location of UpperCup and I'm so glad I did. I just so happened to be in the neighborhood and desperately in need of a pick me up and I got just that at this Black-owned establishment. For starters, they have a parking lot, which makes it so easy to run in and grab a cup of coffee. Once entering it's hard to miss the vibrant colors of the wonderful local art on the walls and the luscious plants soaking up the sunlight from the giant windows facing the street. They have upbeat music playing, a good selection of seating, and it has a whole vibe... I liked it! The service wasn't super friendly as I barely got a few words from the person that took my order, but my drink was delicious. I ordered a vanilla oat milk iced latte and I usually nurse my coffee, but I downed it much quicker than I normally would. Working in the vicinity of Upper Cup for the majority of my career has allowed me many of spiced Chai and on a rare past occasion, a seat on one their cozy couches for a meeting or to catch up on some paperwork. The vibe is chill, quiet, and cozy, with original artwork adorning the walls. They are always busy, but efficient, as well as friendly. The staff seem to be doing a great job with social distancing guidelines too. And the Chai served is not overly milky, and has a nice spice to it. Today I tried a cronut for the first time and it was absolutely heavenly. Basically the lightest, fluffiest, and most perfect glazed donut without being too crusty or flaky if that makes any sense. I enjoy small coffee shops, and Upper Cup is one of my favorites. If you are in the Old Towne East area I would recommend stopping in and checking it out! read more

As an avid coffee drinker and cafe aficionado, I would have to definitely say Upper Cup Coffee is one of my top coffee shops in Columbus. I haven't been to the Gahanna location yet for this location is the closest to me and my place of work. This shop is charming, chill, and definitely for eclectic people. I have met some of the coolest people through Upper Cup and the Old Towne East community seem absolutely awesome. They roast their beans here and you essentially get the from-roast-to-cup here on many occasions. I am a diehard fan of their caramel latte (w/ almondmilk) and its extremely consistent. There was a time that I would drive there everyday before I started making my own coffee at home. I still come here! It is a black-owned business which is great in and of itself. I found this spot on accident, and I'm not surprised it was listed as one of Columbus's Top Places to Drink in Columbus this Summer. The moment you walk in, the places has great vibes and good music to match. Not to mention amazing artwork all over the walls. It has a hip hop feel to it, and I really enjoyed the Aaliyah that was playing when I walked in before 9am. The cold brew is strong, and that's what I had. There was some slight confusion about how I wanted it, and at first they didn't add the half and half, but then corrected it. Because they hadn't left room for it at first then tried to add it, it came out a little stronger than it needed to be for me. Not sure why I put off going to this coffee shop for so long! I came on a Monday morning around 10 and the parking lot was full, so I parked just around the corner. It's easy to find free parallel around here. It was not super busy but there were a number of people sitting and studying, chatting, and coming in and out. The baristas were nice. They seem to know their customers. I love the high ceilings, natural light, African artwork and sculptures, and the pathos plants that had grown long vines of leaves! Beautiful. My friend got a decaf while I ordered a vanilla latte with almond milk. Yum!! This is my new favorite place to go in the city. Cheaper prices than most places. It also feels safe here. Not sure why, but it does. The vibe here is great too! Very low key with great music selections from black artists: Sade, and many more. They serve food. Mostly sandwiches. Not sure if they have pastries since I didn't see the milk sitting out. They also serve tea if you are not a coffee person. It got a bit busier as my friend and I left close to 11:30. Just a short and sweet review. Upper Cup Coffee is one reason why l started tidying coffee. I really hated the taste of coffee but whatever The owner if Upper Cup does to the beans is great, it's a smooth, silky taste but l really wanted to speak to the Spicy Turkey sandwich just the right portion of turkey to soft bun ratio with hot peppers and a dab of spicy. Seating was limited and I was lucky to get a chair. I got drip coffee and it was fine. It was fresh but the taste was generic. I ordered a mocha to take out with me. The inside is more charming and relaxing than any corporate coffee place. I had a latte with almond milk. It's about $3 for the regular size. This coffee was piping hot and tasted wonderful. It may not have been the fastest but it didn't really take all that long. They ground the beans freshly, and it involves more than just opening a bag so already they improve on several coffee shops. Quaint coffee shop in the heart of the city. This is seriously how a coffee shop should be. Simple menu, delicious coffee and drinks. Exposed brick walls. Ethiopian coffee made by Ethiopians with beans imported directly from Ethiopia. You can't get better than that. This is the only coffee I drink without adding cream or sugar, it is so good. But my favorite is their Chai. It leaves a spicy tingle in the back of your throat. I love it! The breakfast sandwich reminds me of New York City, served on a kaiser roll. It's good.
