Cute small place, very similar to One Line on the short north. However, it's in a quieter area and the inside only has about 3 places to sit, so as other reviewers say may want to take it to go. I loved the decorations and the menu was easy to read. I got a normal iced coffee with soy milk and the coffee itself was light. Staff was friendly, they forgot my soy milk but were more than willing to change my order. Covid- It's very clean, staff wore masks, I had no issues. It is small so if you sit there and feel like you're too close to people without masks (because they're eating) I would recommend taking it to go. read more

Walking through the door I knew this place was special from the wall art and decor, the music playing, and the selection of whole beans. I ordered the pour over with the Rawanda roast and let me tell you, this is the BEST cup of coffee I've ever had. I'm big into coffee drink it copiously, so this is a big statement for me. Just flew into Columbus, and popped in after searching for a barber shop and ending up with time to kill before getting my haircut, so decided to come5here to order a drink. The young lady who was running the register,seemed to be inconvenienced with my questions regarding your beverage selection, then made her lack of patience when I took a moment to select a food product. To add insult to injury- after she checked the gratuity on my receipt- she just rolled her eyes. I work service industry, and make a habit of tipping generously always and giving fellow Service Industtry workers the benefit of the doubt,(mybe she is having a bad day, or is tired, etc)2 however not allof your guests have this mindframe, and while I was satisfied with what I ordered and the general ambiance of your establishment, I feel that if one is to work in an industry where how guests are treated is paramount, some tact and a certain set of social skills are basic tools od the trade. Also on a side note...her language, which I couldnt help but overhear, was not establishment appropriate. This is my third review of this location of Upper Cup in four years, but for good reason. My prior review from 2019 was largely about the decline of staffing, but having visited at least twenty times since then (probably more), I can say that they got over that blip, and service is friendly and efficient as ever. I still think that Upper Cup has the best coffee in town, and when made well (i.e. by certain baristas), the caramel lattes are among the best coffee drinks I've ever had. That said, there IS still some inconsistency among the baristas, and every once in awhile you get a weak or less flavorful drink as a result. This location's decision to add cronuts as a fresh pastry item is inspired, as those things are dangerously delicious. I've also started buying Upper Cup's beans -- so far I've tried the Peru and espresso blends. Neither are quite as strong or bold as I had expected, but the flavor is great, and I find the beans work especially well when blended with something a bit darker. All in all, there's no denying that Upper Cup is my regular coffee shop. Despite the inconsistency, it's been my go-to for nearly four years, and that's likely not going to change unless/until I leave the area. read more

Is that I had this iced caramel latte there the other day and the damn thing absolutely blew my mind! I almost slurped the thing down as though it were a slushy. I love the authenticity of this place. The building, the environment, the staff and the people who frequent this esblishment are so honest. It's not one of those spots where people come to put on a front to be seen. It's where people who want an awesome cup of exotic coffee come to soak up the ambience and possibly be inspired without a care. The patrons that come here are very diverse. I love that about this spot. You'll have the ultra successful business person, all the way down to the starving artist. The different flavors of coffee they have available are dope! The ingredients seem fresh and untinted from commercialism and other factors that other businesses of such use to cover up the lacklusterness of the coffee itself. I was really happy with my visit to Upper Cup. I was excited to see the hand pulled shots, the Con Panna was really good. The space is very nice, good vibes and warmth to it with wood floors, the people, everything. If you have not already, come out and try their espresso, the fancy drinks, or a sandwich/pastry. Visited upper cup on a Sunday morning to get some work done. I was greeted with a smile and was given suggestions on what I should order, as I was a first timer. I decided on the cafe mocha and egg sandwich w/turkey. The baristas quickly prepared my coffee and I was able to find a table where I seamlessly connected to WiFi and began my work. This is by far the cheapest place to get coffee in the city. A large pour over is $2.50, which is incredibly reasonable. They roast their own beans in house and have several different selections to choose from. I got their Brazil pour over and it was delicious! I will be back! The shop feels like a neighborhood staple. Good coffee. I had their ethiopian pour over today and it was delicious. It was slightly fruity without a burnt/bitter finish. I really enjoyed the noise level as well. I came here to study today and I enjoyed the playlist they had going. There's also just enough noise inside for it to be comfortable, but quiet enough to work in. Other places (such as Luck Bros) sometimes don't have any customers around this time of day and no music going, which can make the environment a little uncomfortable to work in. Overall, their coffee here is great, however, I wish they had more artisan pastries. Their muffins and biscotti are basically just costco pastries and their tea selection is also meager. If you're trying to find homemade muffins and biscotti, I would definitely recommend another place such as Stauf's, but overall, I liked the vibe, the coffee, and the plethora of outlets they had. read more

Happy Halloween!! First and foremost, I'd never come back to this coffee shop again! The workers and the people inside were just rude and had bad attitudes. I guess they felt some type of way because I came in and was taking a few pictures. Well little did they know, I was here gathering content for a paid feature with another company on my blog page for places in Columbus. The guy who took my order was just meh. When I walked in someone before me was finishing up. The two workers started talking about something and I walked up and politely let them finish. They acted as if greeting the next customer (me) wasn't a priority. The guy taking my order wasn't that welcoming (same guy talking to the worker when I walked up). He just stood there and I said hello to him and then proceeded to place my order. I only ordered a 12 oz. Caramel Latte. The black girl (I hate to use race but there was two girls, so I want to be specific as to which one and the other employee (female) was nice) working with the guy had the WORSE attitude. It must suck to have to be dressed as a super hero working at a coffee shop. I don't know who pissed in her cherrios but she needs to work on her attitude and customer service. She fixed my Caramel Latte and just walked over and sat it on the counter and didn't make eye contact. I said, is this the Caramel Latte and her reply was yep and turns around and walks off! Smh! The latte itself was decent. It wasn't bad and because it was cold outside it was even better. However, the atmosphere was super awkward and the people had bad attitudes and weren't welcoming. They often have select snacks, too, which have always been good! I've never personally had the food there, but my friend has and she had only good things to say. The atmosphere is so lovely and comfortable. There isn't a whole lot of seating space, but it's a small shop, and they do what they can seating-wise. Came here with a friend around 1:30pm on a Thursday. Really impressed! Great customer service, the girl at the counter was very friendly. They have food there but I didn't see anyone eating. The coffee is bomb--probably the best I've had here in Columbus! I just got drip coffee for a little over a dollar, which is not a bad price. My friend got a medium iced chai and really liked it. The space isn't super large, but there were quite a few tables for 2-4 people and a couple comfy seats and a larger couch in the back. I really liked the two pothos plants hanging from the ceiling. Music was awesome and mostly by black artists. The owner of this shop is African, so there were some cool African masks hanging on the wall. Love seeing that this coffee shop attracts a lot of black customers! I often feel like I'm the only black person at the coffee shops here in Columbus, so it was nice to see where other black people hang! They have their own parking lot, but street parking isn't hard to find. I'd come back here again and again! read more

Been wanting to try this place for a while. There are a lot of coffee places popping up all over the area. On a Saturday morning it wasn't too busy but service took quite a while. The counter staff was not very welcoming and seemed like they were just going through the motions of being there. Little to no interaction with each other or customers. Prices were adequate for what you got and the area which is nice. We had a SF NF hazelnut latte. It was more warm then hot but had a great flavor. The coffee was definitely to my likening. I've recently become addicted to tea time. It's actually my favorite time of the day. I'm having it right now. I found myself this afternoon with about 20 minutes between meetings, and I needed a fix. I had Upper Cup bookmarked for about a year but never made it in... for whatever reason. I don't think I really knew where it was to be honest. But I hopped on the app and saw I was literally a two minute walk away. This is probably one of the coolest coffee shops around, and the folks in the neighborhood know it--it's been packed the whole time I've been here. The interior is gritty, and the people are very friendly... but not saccharin. My chai is delicious--with almond milk. And they were happy to making it scalding for me. I want my dranks as hot as humanly possible. The price? Like $2. There are a smattering of tables inside. It's great for sitting for a few minutes to chill, but I don't think I'd come work here for a day or anything. That's not what they're going for. I'll totally be back when I'm in the neighborhood and I find myself needing to feed my new habit. read more

First off, brick walls always catch my eye - for the good. This small coffee shop has been in Olde Town for about six years. Ask any driver, nearby worker, or foot traffic from the surrounding area, and they'll definitely admit that the road construction happening on Parsons Ave. is putting somewhat of a strain on Upper Cup, but the baristas working were happy to add that they have a pretty loyal local customer base, so they're not scrapping the couch for spare change just to get by. Winter hasn't picked up on the mass disdain for it's annoying lingering, so since it was 30-something degrees outside I opted to chill with a Hot Chocolate with almond milk. Not the best I've had, but still sweet and hot. The dollop off whip cream? Kinda an Americana necessity. Several places to sit, also a table lining the front windows, so you can work while glancing outside, or just relax and people watch. The anticipated conclusion of this road work will be great, come the warmer months. read more
