I finally stopped by here yesterday (Saturday) but at a bad time (4:00pm) because almost every baked item was gone. I was lucky because their famous lemon bars and granola bars were still available. Here is my take on the 2 items I bought: LEMON BAR: --sweet but maybe a bit too sweet for my taste buds --pairs perfectly with tea or coffee --you get that "ahhh" moment when you bite into these --gluten free --pure indulgence GRANOLA BAR: --a yummy breakfast item --perfect with tea --packed with protein (these have chia seeds in addition to granola and chocolate chips) --a quick afternoon snack option TIPS: --if you come on a Saturday then come early. I had no idea they would run out of items especially since I later found out that they close at 5pm on Saturdays. But, this is common for bakeries and donut shops who normally bake everything in-house and fresh --try the lemon bars --have a seat and savour all the good treats Overall, this is a cute little bakery in the heart of downtown Bexley. I learnt from one of the cashiers that the owner traveled to a town called Cherbourg, France a lot and that is where she got part of her inspiration to open up this bakery. Now there's a history lesson for you :) read more

Just had their butterscotch latte and really enjoyed it! Baked goods looked really good but haven't tried yet-

Gorgeous space, friendly staff and delicious treats. Tons of pastries available that change a bit everyday. There is also quiche and strata if you want savory. The pour over coffee takes some time but is worth it. read more

Sad I been there twice. I live an hour away. The first time I got there on a Monday and they are close. Came today. I got there at 1:35. They close at 1:30. Oh well I guess I didn't need it anyway. read more

This is one of my favorite gluten-free bakery shops in Ohio. They have sweet and savory options. They make a halfway decent coffee too.

We always see this place when we're in Bexley, but since we're night owls it is always closed by the time we get here. Met friends at Graeter's today and finally had a chance to stop in, just before they closed. They were out of a lot but had three or four options. We got a lemon bar and a carrot spice muffin (cupcake?) The lemon bar was fantastic. I am not always a fan, but done right they are good, and this was great. Not too sweet or super lemony, but enough of both to bring out the lemon flavors. Perfectly balanced. A little sticky and hard to eat, so have a napkin out or use a fork. The muffin was light and airy, and tasted like a cupcake version of carrot cake. Again, perfectly balanced flavors of spice and carrot, and the texture was amazing. It's tiny, service is great, and it's clearly a labor of love. There are a few tables I think, inside and out, or just get something and walk around lovely Bexley. And am I reading right that they are gluten free? Well, then these are absolutely the best gluten free treats I have ever had, and among the tiptop baked goods ever, GF or not. read more

Great place to go for GF treats. I love coming here with my sister for a laid back coffee and some delicious baked goods.

We didn't realize that this was a gluten free bakery until after we enjoyed the delectable offerings sold there. We were visiting Bexley, staying nearby and went there for breakfast every day. The little savory egg and cheese bites are magical, as are the doughnuts and quiches. The strata is luscious as well. They even have gluten free twinkies! You will not be disappointed at this elegant establishment and the uninformed won't even suspect that these delicacies are actually gluten-free. read more

Adorable quaint space with amazing gluten free treats that you could swear aren't gluten-free they're that good. I literally serve them at baby and wedding showers because they are so divine and it doesn't matter that they're gluten-free. Bonus is that if I do have a gluten intolerant guest I've got them covered! They are always ready with the last minute catering order or just walking in to get a cuppa coffee. read more

Best gluten-free bakery that I've ever been to! The staff are always incredibly friendly and there really is no other place like it!

Amazing! So fresh and delicious. We had the strata, a slice of quiche and a cinnamon donut. All gluten-free and you would never know! The staff is very friendly and doesn't forget one detail! Coffee is simple: pour over only. Also delicious. Will definitely be going back! read more

A hidden gem in Bexley. This little bakery is tucked back near the Drexel - but worth a visit! The space is small, but there are a few tables where you can sit. There are an array of baked treats from donuts to muffins to brownies. They are all gluten-free and vegan and have a yummy little twist on all of them! Coffee is good. They have one type of coffee that they brew pour-over. It has a bolder flavor and goes well with the sweet treats! The only (maybe) drawback is the price. Since they are some pretty specialty food products, the price point is higher per goodie than other bakeries. Personally, I think it's worth the splurge, but can be surprising if you aren't prepared for it! read more

Five stars for the lemon bars! Everything else is just... hmmm... "gravy" doesn't quite seem to work in this scenario. Whatever, you get the idea. In my 30s, my body turned against me, and wheat started making me incredibly sick for days on end. Seriously, one little bit of wheat and I'll still be recovering 3 days later. I try to avoid most grains altogether, but that can be especially difficult when you're on the hunt for a sweet treat. Ya see, most wheat-free baked goods are made with rice or oat flour. But enough about me... let's talk about Cherbourg! C'mon people - I have a gluten-free bakery at the END OF MY STREET. How am I not the luckiest boy on the planet? Wait, still talking about me... hrmph. Cherbourg offers a wide range of goodies from cookies to muffins to bread loaves. I have yet to try something disappointing. Sure, there are some things that just don't have the right texture, but that's what happens when you remove gluten. But for the most part, Cherbourg gets it right. Where they get it perfect is those damn lemon bars. Holy moly, they are rich, gooey, lemony squares of heaven. I get one every time I'm here. Another standout for me is the croissant. Let me tell you, these things are not pretty. In fact, they're downright ugly. But strangely they are buttery and addicting. If you're not used to GF treats, the texture might throw you a little bit. But if you're like me and haven't had wheat in a while - you'll love Cherbourg. read more

I have terrible timing. For the longest, it seemed like I could never get to Cherbourg when they were open. Not because their hours aren't reasonable or posted, but because I'd get a craving for delicious baked goods at the most random times. But when I finally got in, it was amazing! The bakery is small - make no mistake - but that only serves to help hold on to the delicious smells. You could really get full on just the delicious wafts of pastries baking, pour over coffee brewing, and all that goodness. My husband and I were smacked in the face by gingerbread smells when we stopped in right before Christmas. Turns out they were baking up delicious gingerbread donuts - we definitely had to try one. He chose a suite of donuts (chocolate iced chocolate, cinnamon, and gingerbread) and I picked out one of their monster berry muffins. We each also got pour over coffee. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The coffee was perfect. And the staff were really friendly and explained all the different pastries we were looking at. The icing on the cake is that everything is gluten-free. This may be TMI, but I have pretty bad IBS and my two main triggers are dairy- and gluten-heavy foods. I don't have to avoid them entirely, but if I go overboard, I will pay for it. Having a bakery that caters to those with Celiacs means that they are also friendly to me. Basically what I'm saying here is that I can eat way more delicious cookies from Cherbourg without feeling sick than I can from any other bakery, and that's really, really fantastic in my book! I will definitely be back! read more

This is such a warm and inviting bakery! I just love the atmosphere. Located in the heart of downtown Bexley is this wonderful bakery called Cherbourg. If you have a hard time finding it look at the other side of Greater's and you'll find it in between a boutique. I came here briefly before meeting up with friends a few weeks ago. I got the granola bar which was good. My friend brought the lemon bars from here the other night for my potluck. They were so good Vlad (my husband) ate the entire 5 bars for breakfast this morning. (Someone must have needed a sugar rush before work!) This guy isn't gluten free but he dam well enjoyed his treat this morning! Oh my god, so the other guy at my potluck tried this treat and you should have seen the expression on his face. I guess he wasn't much into the tart flavor of the lemon and his face turned bright red but he continued to eat the bars like we were making him do it! I'm like honey, you don't have to eat these if they don't please your appetite! There were plenty of other dessert options for him besides this. I will definitely be coming back here soon! I really wish I would have been here on Friday when a lovely 90 year old was preaching to my friends outside of here! My stance, you take Jesus, I'll take God! Amen! Cherbourg keep up those lemony bars you have a fan over in this household! read more

Gluten free options aren't the norm. Finding a local bakery that exclusively serves to the GF clientele is always a delight. And the bakers working here were a pleasant addition to the great snow day! Oh and everything is set out front - no hidden gems, nothing you can't visually see. Since my friend was craving some Jeni's ice cream, we didn't sit and chat. Actually, that was our luck because the few small tables and chairs were occupied. I decided on a tiramisu donut, and a lemon cake thingy. Tiramisu? You ask. How strange. Your loss! The small light filling dollop was so addicting! Just a small squirt, and it totally left my taste buds wanting another round. At first I thought the coffee taste was a bit too strong: was it going to linger in my mouth for the rest of the day? Nope. A slight sweet coating. Mmmm! The lemon cake/tart/bunt cakey thing (of course I forget what the lady called it) was outstanding. Moist. The lemon flavor (not just straight sugar rush). The small size of the cake was just the right amount to satisfy my sweet tooth. The icing drizzled on top was straight out of heaven. If I lived next to this establishment, I'd be in big trouble ;p read more

Cherbourg Bakery - Bakeries Near Me - Bexley, Ohio

This is one of my favorite places in Columbus. The staff is so friendly and the baked goods are delicious! The strata makes a great breakfast (or any meal really). The mini zucchini loaves are divine. The bakery often introduces new items, and very few disappoint. As most people know, gluten free products tend to be more expensive, and these confections are not cheap. However, they are worth every penny, and even my non-celiac friends really enjoy Cherbourg's offerings! In addition to being a dedicated gluten free facility, it's also a nut free bakery, and has been a great place for my friend to bring her kids with severe peanut allergies for a fun treat. read more

My first time in this cute little shop. I tried the sun-dried tomato strata. Very flavorful, even my baby loved it and kept asking for more. Make sure to have them warm it up for you. I also got the glazed pumpkin donut which was so moist and not too sweet, I should've gotten more of those! The first bite of the cinnamon roll was great but then it crumbled on me and became messy. My husband didn't mind and loved the roll. Definitely will come back to try their other pastries. read more

I love this place. If I could, I'd visit every day and just drink coffee, eat baked goods and eventually gain tons of weight. Who knew that gluten free could taste so good? I love the intimacy of this place. It's small, but in a good way. There are outdoor benches during the warmer months. The selection of baked goods varies, but every time I NEED to order a smores bar. Wow! Everything from cakes to lemon bars have been four or five stars. I also love the location - it's right around the corner from the Drexel theater. One of my favorite areas of Bexley and Columbus. One of the houses across the street had a rent opening...I was tempted to move in just because of Cherbourg! read more

One of our favorites, and a weekend staple in this house. Friendly staff and delicious pastries

This business permits dogs in the bakery so I can't give it 5 stars. That is very unsanitary. The staff can be quite unhelpful (won't open the door for a customer carrying many objects). Other than that, the treat they offer are unique and delicious. read more

I went back to Cherbourg again last night and was so excited to find many goodies left! I tried the Smores bar which was AMAZING! Thick graham cookies and not too sweet. The blueberry monster muffin was also the best muffin ever! the outside almost like a cookie, the inside soft and stuffed with fresh berrys! The Black tie Cupcake with cream cheese and chocolate chips also out of this world! The espresso Brownie has too much espresso for my taste but still very good ig you are a coffee lover. The only things I wouldnt get again are the madeleine and the carrot spice muffin because the madeleine was a bit dry and the carrot muffin lacking carrot but the rest is highly reccomended! read more

I am going to give this bakery five stars because not only are the baked goods and breads delicious but they are much healthier for us than the typical baked goods we Americans consume. So don't deprive yourself - just enjoy their goodies like the chocolatey Molten Marsala Cake and Lemon Thyme Polenta bread. Yummmmm. And now a word from my soap box: Gluten-free is the way we should all be eating anyway. Gluten overload (in most of our cereals, breads and baked items) can lead to heart disease and cancer, scientists tell us. I know, I know. This is getting too serious. Let's just say that I LOVE it that someone cares enough to offer us an alternative to the unhealthy oils and flour in our midst. So have another piece of that cake! Nosh on that zuchini bread and carrot spice muffin! Fear not. You too can be healthy and guilt-free. read more

Amazing food if you have family members that have gluten issues , I recommend t there jalapeño bread!!!

Having sampled Cherbourg's heavenly lemon bars at a recent gathering, I was smitten. Cherbourg is quaint and charming; the staff was friendly and helpful. Of course, I purchased more of their scrumptious lemon bars, moist and tart filling with a firm, sugary crust. And, given the season, the bakery had several pumpkin offerings, including pumpkin bread with chocolate chips. Delicious and moist, the pairing made for a nice combination. It's clear that lots of love and talent go into every delectable, tasty offering at Cherbourg. read more

I was so excited to find a dedicated GF bakery. And the options were amazing! I went twice during my stay, and loved every item I tried. Cherbourg bakery is a gem in Columbus and you must stop and try for yourself. This past summer my girlfriend and I were planning my birthday party and she knows I love lemon bars and after glowing recommendations from friends we were thinking about Cherbourg and the lemon bar cart for the party. It didn't work out on our end, however it opened our eyes to Cherbourg and the most deliciously tart lemon bars. My dad loves lemon bars as much as I do and for Christmas and his birthday we have ordered him a half dozen and he loves the gift. We have purchased other sweets in the past here and they were delicious as well, but nothing compares to the lemon bars. Make sure to call and preorder yours, last week we did and are glad that we did as they sell out. Parking is available on the street and the employees are very nice and friendly. I can't wait for Cherbourg to open in Cincinnati so when I visit my family we will stop there. read more

I stopped by Cherbourg Bakery today when I was in Columbus for the Gluten Free Allergy Fest. It is AMAZING and an absolute MUST for my gluten free friends. I picked out a chocolate chip muffin, a chocolate chip cookie, zucchini bread, pink lemonade donut, apple pie bar, and a cream puff. (I needed to sample EVERYTHING!) There was not a thing I did not like! Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS! The chocolate chip cookie reminds me of the ones I'd buy at the mall before going gluten free. Zucchini bread brings me back to my childhood. (After many failed attempts to make it!) Honestly, it's all amazing. You can't go wrong! I spoke with the future manager of their expansion... coming to OTR in Cincinnati! I am SO excited for this! She was absolutely WONDERFUL and her personality makes me want to come back! Yum!!! I was in to get some things to taste test, to eventually get a larger order. I wanted to see if the GF meant any sacrifice on taste, and no m'am, I wouldn't have known if I wasn't told. I'll be back! The chocolate donut has a cake texture with a sugar coating and then glazed with the perfect chocolate frosting. I loved the lemon bar, zesty and sweet, as they should be. The crust is thicker and sweet. Great overall treat. The S'more bar was for my boyfriend, but I tried a little bit...for the sake of a review of course ;) So this thing is gooey and sweet, very sweet. If you don't like super sweet, stop drooling at this behind the glass and fix your gaze on one of the other pretty treats! If you like blondies and loaded cookie bars, then this was made for you.
