The meal was a disaster from Appetizers to Entrees. I'm not sure where to begin. This was perhaps the most disappointing meal i have ever had. After having had an acceptable meal a few years back, my friends and I gave Grappa another shot this past weekend. Our appetizer selection included the Wedding Soup (how you can get away with calling those tiny lumps of meat actual "meatballs" is beyond me). Outside of the poor presentation, the taste of the "meatballs" left a lot to be desired. if there was a highlight from the entire meal, perhpas it was the broth of the soup. Perhaps. Another appetizer was the Eggplant Fondue. How about serving crispy eggplant chips with the fondue instead of bread? Burying the eggplant in cheese hides the taste completely. I'm not sure why this dish even exists. The entrees were a complete disaster. The chicken Saltimboca was served rollatini style over completely overcooked bow-tie pasta. The Osso Bucco was tougher than a dried steak. You had to actually cut it off the bone with a knife and fork. Good Osso Busso should fall off the bone! Fall off the bone, not have to be pried. The replacement meal for the Osso Bucco which was returned was a simple penne in red sauce. The penne was overcooked (as was the bow-tie pasta). How do you overcook a replacement dish. I'll tell you how. It was pre-cooked and sitting in water. The kicker... When I sit down to eat a meal with an average entree in the $40 range, I expect fresh grated cheese if that is what the meal calls for. Not the pre-grated store bought dried crap that they serve. Perhaps this is harsh, but hopefully this helps them in the long run. For now, take your money and appetite elsewhere, unless of course you like overpriced bad food. read more

I chose this place for our company dinner tonight and thought based on the reviews, this would be a special treat for our employees who worked hard all summer. However, not only based on my tastes, but from other comments around the table, the food was just ok, nothing spectacular and definitely not worth the $26 and above prices. The ambience, presentation of the food, and the waitstaff were all nice. If you are in Park City for dinner and decide to come here, I would recommend going on Mondays (locals night). They have a discounted menu (which in my opinion, matches more to the food/quality you get). If you have the funds to splurge on a really expensive dinner, go somewhere else. We got seated immediately. It was a fantastic table upstairs overlooking the hostess desk. We were greeted promptly by the waitress, but the overwhelming spell of alcohol that came from her breath took us by surprise. We ordered a flatbread app. It arrived and it tasted just ok; it was rather salty for our liking. The waitress, long ponytail, returned, took our menus, and did not return to our table, being VERY attentive to the other patrons around us. It was quite odd and we felt VERY uncomfortable. Ten minutes after we finished our appetizer, we caught her cleaning an adjacent table and simply asked for our check. It seemed to me that being tourists, we were alienated for some odd reason. The utensils are sticky and gross. Steak was horrible - salty and the potato gratin was awful too. Weird they put pesto sauce on the plate.....the lobster ravioli was not great either. Weird sauce with the ravioli. Cesar Salad was ok. The Bolognese Bianca was good not great. Service was good. The bread and the sauce comes with are the best part of the meal. Bill White had a promotion for buy one entree get one free - so we were choosing between his restaurants, and I landed at Grappa as my final choice. We parked in the pay-to-park lot adjacent to the restaurant. Approaching the place, it's adorable - situated at the top of Main Street up on a hill, their property is full of statues and lighting, plus an awesome outdoor patio. Turns out that they are stacked (literally), three floors high of wait service. We were seated right in the middle against the railing on the second level. Our server approached us and walked us through the wine list, and offered us either still or sparkling water (charged). We both opted for a glass of Italian red wine, and enjoyed the complimentary bread and dip while perusing the menu. Mom landed on the horseradish crusted salmon, while after seeing yelp photos of the Lamb tagliatelle I couldn't possibly entertain the idea of ordering something else. I was blown away with this pasta. It was very reasonably priced, especially juxtaposed with some of the other entree options. It was a great portion size (I couldn't even finish) and the homemade pasta was a perfect al dente. The lamb was delicious and the sauce was perfectly seasoned - if not a little salty. Mom was not nearly as impressed with her entree. The "crust" lacked any sort of spiciness or kick that fresh horseradish carries, leading her to doubt the freshness. It was more of a coating instead of a crust, and added no additional flavors to the meal. The fish was served on a arugula puree and had a few blanched vegetables on the side, but for about $30 she was disappointed in both the portion size (no salad or side at all) and the quality of the food. Overall, without the BOGO, I'm not sure the entire meal would have been worth what I paid, but my plate was outstanding, and the service was stellar. read more

Grappa is my favorite place to eat in Park City. The way it is lit up at night is stunning. The atmosphere is Tuscan cozy. It gets really crowded so make reservations. I like the second floor. The third floor is usually big tables and families so avoid that if you can. I had the pasta with meatballs Amatricana which sounds mundane but it was so delicious! Just the right amount if kick to it. Also fav is whole Branzino, a delicious fish from Greece. Wonderful every year when we visit Park City. read more

First course, second course, third course, and wine list all great. Dessert, however, was the worst I have ever had. The sorbetto was so disgusting I couldn't eat it. Tasted like it had been scraped off the bottom of the walk in. Even my 8 year old couldn't eat her favorite dish, tiramisu. Tasted like an old dry cookie salvaged from the cushions of a leather couch, stuck In between a pre-fabbed egg shaped chocolate from a 7-11. People who give this place a bad reveiw are crazy. Admittedly, we shied away from this place because it gets mixed reviews on Yelp. But then one Thursday night recently we wanted Italian in PC, and this place could take us, so we figured we'd give it a whirl. Grappa did not disappoint. The food was fantastic. Was it the best Italian food I've ever had in my life? No. But it definitely met my criteria for a great meal, particularly for Park City. The service was more than satisfactory too. Our waitress was attentive, our water and wine glasses were never empty, and our food arrived piping hot and as ordered. No complaints there. The space is very cozy, with big windows looking out on the snow falling on Main Street. We also had a great table right next to the fireplace too, which added a lot to the atmosphere. Grappas was recommended to us as a high end Italian restaurant that is heavy on the fish and light on the pasta. Perfect. As those traits more closely align with our vision of Italian food. We had a 7 pm reservation but we're an hour early. No problem. The austere hostess sat us on the 2nd floor where Sara took the best care of our dining experience. Truly when you have wait staff as caring and knowledgeable and professional as Sara, the term waitress seems woefully inadequate and demeaning. She new the menu, could speak to it and the specials with a knowledge only capable by someone who took the time and had tasted all the menu items. She was descriptive and passionate in telling us about the specials. Infinitive patient as we questioned her on the details. We took her at her word for her personal recommendations and we're not disappointed. We began with the mushroom soup and the red grapes with gorganzolla salad. The soup was rich and earthy, plenty of umani flavor without being to heavy on the cream. The grapes were sweet, the perfect counter part to the astringent cheese. Lightly coated with a nice vinaigrette. Rich nutty roasted walnuts. Excellent beginning. Next came our entrees. Osso bucco and red snapper. Both were as promised. The veal was roasted to perfection. Wonderful braised flavors and fork tender. The crisp green beans and creamy potatoes were perfect side items. The sauce was amazing. This is a dish where the time preparing it was not rushed. The 14 hour roasting process should be patented. The snapper was beautifully prepared and presented. The flavor was light and clean. The texture melted in your mouth. The detail obvious in the perfectly cubed carrots and celery only added to our appreciation of Chef and the entire cooking staff. We ended our meal with the classic tierra misu with espresso and biscotti. We could only manage a couple of heavenly bites before asking Sara to box it up for us. I would also add that Sara's timing in bringing our courses, refilling our beverages, answering our questions and clearing our table only heightened our experience. She was our culinary guide. I would also add that it was my birthday. We had traveled from Atlanta that morning, making our time from waking up to dinner 16 hours. I say this to underscore this review. That is a long day for anyone. If you have been there you know what I mean. I read some of the other reviews and am saddened that those diners did not share our experience. A well informed guest can best appreciate the work and care that goes into Grappos dining. The atmosphere and building were also appreciated. The details were present in every ceiling joist and bathroom fixture. If i could make one suggestion, it would be to offer a half portions option. The food was plentiful. Being over full at the end of the meal is not pleasant. But it was all so wonderful that we did not want to waste a single mouthful. Please note that this is a high end restaurant. I really wanted to be impressed by Grappa - I'd heard good things and the restaurant itself was gorgeous. Unfortunately the food was just okay. No one at my table was wowed by any of it. I had the pasta bolognese, which they were able to substitute gluten free rice noodles. It was a mix of lamb, beef and pork. I'm not a fan of lamb but couldn't really taste it. The food was okay but I was still hungry afterwards. I had ordered a side of veggies because my dish didn't come with any - it was mostly carrots and they were still hard and coated in oil. Not too enjoyable when you have to wipe your food off. My husband had the steak - the mashed potatoes that came with it were really good. Crispy on top and very flavourful. He also had hard oil coated veggies on the side. I can't quite remember what the others had. One ordered the duck while was a super oily dish that she barely ate, and one ordered osso bucco which was deemed poorly made and inauthentic. The service was ok but she took so long to bring our credit cards back with the papers to sign. Overall it was a very blah experience. Don't think I'd return. read more

Was in town for my brother's wedding and my wife and I wanted a nice, romantic place to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. I chose Grappa because my wife had never been there and I knew the outdoor dining in the summer would be wonderful. Our server was outstanding. He knew the menu well and even helped me navigate my first experience with grappa....the drink (word to the wise, it's strong stuff but totally worth a try after the meal). We shared the lobster ravioli as an appetizer and it was fantastic. Great sauce, FULL of lobster meat. Would work as an entree with a nice salad. For entrees my wife had the scallops - excellent. I know because she didn't want to share. That's a sure sign. I had the seared duck and risotto. Also amazing, and very filling. I had to take some home. We finished with the chocolate tartufo for dessert and some excellent coffee. Perfect finish to a great meal. read more

My husband I have been to this restaurant several times and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time. The atmosphere is homey and the service has always been great. My husband had the horseradish crusted salmon which he raved about. It was cooked perfectly to his liking. I had the scallops served over a pepper relish. Very good. The grape and Gorgonzola salad is delicious as well as the beet salad. This is one place to add to your list of stops. It's a little pricey so beware of that. We came here during Sundance this year. I would say the food is good but the value is not. It was pretty expensive for what you get- $45 for truffle mac n' cheese? $15 for a boring mixed green salad? I realize Park City is expensive, but come on... On the plus side, the service was really good and the setting is somewhat romantic. The seating is a minus, the tables are uncomfortably jammed in there and they put us on the 3rd floor next to a kiddie table even though we'd had a reservation for weeks. They will definitely look you over at the front desk and figure out where you "belong." read more

Some goods and not-so-goods... First off - our waitress Shelby was one of the best servers ever... We had some special requests and allergies - and the place was slammed with celebrities and their entourages (Lindsey Lohan at one table and Ann Hathaway at another, to name a couple) - but Shelby nailed everything, at one point bringing the chef out to confer... Shelby's busser was hilarious, too; great guy. The service overall was just outstanding. I wish I could say the same about the food. We spent $500 for 4 of us, and the meal was just okay... Not great. The chicken was over-marinated and greasy... The pasta average. Part of this is consistent with a ski town - they can get away with it. Ambiance, service and food preparation all came together perfectly at Grappa. Our waiter, Steve, was friendly and quite attentive. The ambiance is "Tuscany comes to Park City" and although all the outdoor tables were full, we were seated in a cozy spot on the first level. The food was fantastic! We started with a cold soup and flat bread for apps with a chianti. The highlight was my husband's entree of osso bucco. It was slow cooked and literally fell off the bone. The polenta and sauce was a perfect complement. My scallops were sweet and cooked just right...not rubbery like many other places. The sauce and caramelized veggies also complemented the scallops. Excellent experience from start to finish! My fiancé and I were celebrating our anniversary and were seated at an intimate table for two overlooking Main Street. We started off with the ciopinno and perfectly fluffy focaccia bread with the addictive balsamic dipping sauce. I had the Mushroom lasagna with vodka sauce- holy crap, so yummy! And my fiancé had the NY dry aged steak with red wine Demi. Very romantic spot, strongly urge you to sit outside on the main level. That way you can see downtown Park City. I gave it three stars, because the food was just okay for the price you pay. Stalwart restaurant resting on its heels. Bill White has been a fixture in the Park City dining scene for decades. The place is still sooo beautiful and has aged like a truly fine wine. The food and service however, is totally forgettable. With new generation of restauranteurs upping the game there's easily a dozen better options than Grappa, Washo, and their ilk. If you're a tourist with money to burn and a palate informed by Olive garden, you will be happy. Serious gourmands beware. read more

The food was very good, as it has been the last two times I've visited, but the service is just OFF. Our reservation was for 8 pm; we weren't seated until 8:20. The hostess appeared harried and cool rather than cordial or apologetic. (Sorry, but I'm a big fan of a genuine, warm welcome.) There was no bread for our table ... until we were literally finishing our meal. We had to ask twice for spoons for the coffee. Too bad, as the place is visually lovely (all those little white lights) and the food is generally very good. I had the salad with the grapes, greens, candied nuts--absolutely delicious--and the goat cheese cheesecake was spectacular. If you want to sit outdoors, which is pretty, be sure to bring something warm for the evening--and they do supply blankets if you ask. read more

What a truly amazing experience! Grappa is the finest restaurant you can go to in Park City Utah, and as far as I'm concerned, in Salt Lake City. It's beautiful, with the finest service, and the most unique and delicious food. We had a delicious parsnip soup with pork belly and apple, a divine cioppino with the most awesome bread, and I had the pork chop with ravioli and greens, and it was exquisite. My boyfriend had the salmon and omg. So tasty! We had coupons from Bill White so one entree was free and so was the corkage of the bottle of wine we brought. Read some of the previous reviews and almost didn't go. 4 gentlemen from Los Angeles went and all agreed it was one of the best meals we ever had. What really made it special was the attention from our waitress,Saphraine, who suggested the wine and was just a lovely person. I know now why it's so highly rated and busy.
