Popped in for an impromptu meal on the way to an event, so we hoped to eat quickly. It was early evening, and already packed and reserved. To get a table, we agreed to be finished before they were fully booked which was a win-win bc we had a shared deadline. Waiter was awesome, delivered our Vodka Pepp pizzas quickly and remained attentive. For me carbs are a luxury and gluten is a rarity, so I thought I'd have a slice, maybe two... Lies! We had traveled half way across the country to celebrate our daughter's birthday with her and her husband. She picked Matilda, made reservations and told us how excited she was to try their halibut. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. The waiter was knowledgeable but felt a little pushy. The first two beers they guys ordered were out of stock. We ordered the flatbread with beets and walnuts and also the olives, cherries and feta.. Excellent and thoroughly enjoyed the combination. We also ordered the gnocchi to share which we all enjoyed. When we went to order our main course the halibut was gone. Our reservation was at 7:00 so not very late in the day. We ended up ordering two pizzas. The vodka pepperoni was delicious; the funghi was rather tasteless. If we hadn't had a delicious mushroom pizza earlier in the week in SLC that was full of flavor, we might have thought that that was typical of a mushroom pizza. We chose not to order a dessert as we had been disappointed in our experience. But serves as a good vehicle for scooping up the stracciatella (YUM!) or olive tapenade. Baby green salad with tender asparagus and golden beets is a nice way to get some veg. The charred hipsi cabbage with miso butter and ponzu sauce was tender and tasty, if an unexpected menu item. Enjoyed dinner while visiting town with my husband and parents. We ate breakfast at Five5eeds that morning which we loved and were excited to see it was the same ownership. I've had a house here for 20 years, how have I not know about this gem until now!! It's the local go to spot. Forget going on Main Street, this is where you want to be. Service was amazing, our waitress was so nice and friendly. I wish I caught her name. I just know she skis at Alta and lived in Hawaii for a bit. The food that we tried was delicious. I can't wait to go back and try other dishes. Prices for Park City are reasonable here. The ambiance is perfect for a date night or a get together with friends. We thought we closed down the restaurant but when we turned the corner there were two other tables. The staff didn't kick us out either nor did we feel pressured to leave. We spend a couple of weeks each summer up in Park City, Utah, and I saw that a new restaurant called Matilda had recently opened. I decided to give it a go, and Matilda ended up delivering one of the best dining experiences I've had in years. This place has impeccable service and delicious food that's clearly crafted with high-quality ingredients. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a bubbly, welcoming hostess. The dining room was bustling yet cozy, and beautifully decorated. The main kitchen is literally open and right in the middle of the dining room! I LOVED this, because I could watch the chefs cooking and crafting everyone's meals. The restaurant was bustling, yet the staff was plentiful (perhaps it's fair to even say it was overstaffed) and a lot of employees just stood by the kitchen waiting for something to do. Our server, Keiffer, set the tone with a warm, professional introduction. He was a terrific waiter from start to finish, providing service that was extremely attentive without ever feeling rushed or intrusive. Despite the crowd, our hard-to-get 5:45 reservation was perfectly timed and the pacing of our meal was outstanding. Keiffer's instinct to check whether we wanted to relax over our appetizer before ordering entrées was a classy touch that elevated the whole experience. Plates were cleared only when appropriate, our water glasses stayed full, and service was prompt and efficient. Honestly, it rivaled or surpassed the service I've received at fine-dining landmarks like The French Laundry. The menu at Matilda is small, focused, and gourmet. We started with the stracciatella and flatbread appetizer ($20 in total). The flatbread (essentially pizza dough fired in the oven) arrived a bit overdone (would've preferred it to be more golden browned than blackened). It still tasted good, especially when paired with the outstandingly creamy, high-quality cheese. The wine-by-the-glass options like my French red ($16) complemented the meal beautifully, and my husband's Old Fashioned cocktail ($16) was also well-crafted. I will say that the wine pours were very small and I would've appreciated a bit more in my glass. But you know...Utah (sigh). For our main course, the pizzas were enormous. We should've shared one, except my husband wanted Calabresi (ricotta, hot honey, and salami) and I wanted a Margherita (basil, mozzarella, tomato sauce). Note that there aren't a lot of vegetarian options here, and the kitchen didn't do substitutions (maybe because the place is still so new, I don't know). Each of us came home with more than half our pizzas as leftovers. The ingredients stood out: rich, creamy cheeses, bright and tangy tomato sauce bursting with fresh tomato flavor, and generous whole basil leaves. My husband loved his pizza but wished they offered chili olive oil for dipping the crust. We were too full to try dessert. While the restaurant is tucked into an unassuming strip mall, the interior is classy and inviting. It's mountain casual, but definitely the kind of place where you might want to swap your T-shirt for a nicer top if you're dining in. With operating hours from just 5-9 p.m., snagging a reservation can be tough, but it's well worth the effort. Pricey, yes, but every bite and every moment of service justified the cost. I have eaten at Matilda twice in the last month or so; since I have always enjoyed Five5eeds, I had high hopes. It did not disappoint; they did a beautiful job with the decor, there's a really good vibe in the place, the service was friendly and prompt, and of course most of all the food was delicious. On both visits so far, we have gotten the amazing flatbread along with a few different things to dip/eat it with. We have also shared small plates and a pizza, but not an entrée yet. MATILDAS SENT ME TO THE HOSPITAL. They were given advanced notice about my 1 ingredient food allergy multiple days in advanced (I was dining with them for a large group dinner with a pre-set menu), and then I reminded them about my allergy when I arrived. They confirmed every thing being served was safe. They then served me a dish which had my allergen in it and the manager tried to gaslight me into thinking that my reaction was "an anxiety attack". The kitchen then confirmed that the dish did in fact have my allergen. But it was too late and I had to be rushed to the hospital. No one has reached out to me from their restaurant - I emailed them, but no response. Very disappointing. read more

One star and I never ate a bite. Heard a lot of differing opinions on this new PC hot spot so after an early show at the Egyptian we headed over to try it. When heading for dinner at a new place we always check the online reservations to get a feel for how busy they are. The system showed openings all evening long, every fifteen minutes. So feeling comfortable that we could get seated we headed over. I will also note that the web site "encourages walk-in's." Upon arrival we were told that walk in traffic was limited to the bar area. We looked in and saw two open seats at the end of the bar so we gave the hostess (who was extremely) busy a thumbs up and waited to be seated. Nope, not gonna happen any time soon. The two seats sat empty, just beckoning for us to come and sit down. Finally as we approached the half hour mark I got a page and approached the hostess again. Note that we were standing in front of her the whole time. She asked what she could do to help me and I told her that we had been paged to sit down. She had no clue as to who we were. Off we went to the same two seats at the bar that had been empty the entire time. Also note - there were quite a few empty tables further inside the restaurant, and yes, I know they could have all been reserved. It's possible that the place could have been completely booked solid in the time between when we looked online and the time we arrived, but I kind of doubt it. Upon being seated we did just that, sat and waited. And waited. No water, no waiter, no "be with you in a bit" - just two hungry patrons abandoned at the end of the bar. After waiting for several minutes with no acknowledgement of our existence, much less getting any service we quietly stood up and left, walking past one of the owners on our way out, not even receiving the infamous head nod that guys do to each other. Will we go back? I really don't know. Perhaps we will try it again next May after most of the tourists leave, making sure to make a reservation to improve our chances of actually seeing someone besides the hostess. The pizza here is on another level. As someone who's been to Italy and New York several times, their pizza is on par with the best quality pizzas in these locations. No flop, crispy, yet fluffy dough with the right amount of char. These pizzas are in the high 9s and that is a score I use only given out 2 times. Pepperoni pizza with vodka sauce was phenomenal and the ranch pairs so well with it. Margherita pizza was classic and done right with the perfect tomato sauce and cheese ratio. Service was fantastic and they comped our appetizer for a slight wait. Atmosphere was buzzing and there were several different groups of people. Don't know many places that left me this satisfied. We were excited to try a new addition to Park City with our family, but I doubt we will be back--one of the LEAST family-friendly restaurants in the area. Beyond the usual kinks of a newly opened location, we were taken aback by the heightened priority of online orders over on-site patrons. It took 44 minutes for our food to arrive, and when it did, it was disappointingly wrong, and items were missing (Caesar salad and one entire pizza were missing). They don't have a kids' menu, and when we asked if one pizza could be modified for one of our kids (e.g., removing a couple of ingredients so it could be cheese and sausage), we were told, "The chef has declined to do it; he prefers to keep his recipe as is." We ordered the Cured Meats platter with the sourdough bread (mostly mortadella with some salami and prosciutto, and the "sourdough bread" was their pizza dough baked and puffed up). Now, onto the pizzas: We tried Hawaiian, Calabrese, and Sausage (they were okay; the honey was a nice touch on the Calabrese). The atmosphere is excellent, with tasteful decor and carefully curated accents throughout. A spacious private dining room is in the back, and bar seating is available for walk-ins. I'd heard great things about Matilda, and so we finally got to walk in and sit at the bar during PC's slow season. Pizzas were awesome and all the hype of the new restaurant from the Five Seeds folks did not disappoint. Like others, I believe the Matilda pizza is the best I've had in Utah. Pizza is one of the toughest things to make at altitude and I'm impressed. A couple suggestions would be more flexibility on the menu. My partner and I are both vegetarian. I ordered the mushroom pizza which was too cheesy for my partner's taste. They offered him a margherita with a mushroom upcharge. Unfortunately the mushrooms on his pizza were completely chintzy compared to the abundance of mushrooms on my pizza. Also, I'd love to see a cider on the menu and a N.A. beer option. read more

If you get a chance, get the stracciatella with the caviar, and don't sleep on the chicken liver parfait. After a great experience at sister restaurant Tilly's Charcoal Chicken the day prior, we decided to try Matilda on our last night in Park City. So glad we did! The restaurant is beautifully designed and well lit. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated immediately for our 6:30 reservation. Despite a full restaurant it wasn't too loud. Tables are well-spaced and our server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. All of the food was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the Miso cabbage appetizer, which was unique and phenomenal. Then we also enjoyed a Marinara Pizza (no cheese but very light and flavorful) and a Hawaiian Pizza (perfect ratio of ingredients, and the ham in particular was a special high quality cut). The crust on both pizzas was perfect. It's a sourdough crust and really flavorful. The two cocktails I had were also well done. A highlight of the meal was the Tiramisu. You don't want to skip dessert at Matilda. It's a heaping portion of tiramisu, and perhaps the best I've ever had (even in Italy). I VERY highly recommend Matilda. read more

We ordered a dish off of their summer tomato menu and it was really fresh, and we also ordered an appetizer with peaches that were perfectly ripe! Also came with a flatbread that was MUCH larger than expected, but no complaints about that! All the pizzas were great -- my favorite was the caramelized onion. My only minor critique is that the pizzas didn't come out at the same time, and we were waiting awhile for them to come out. We had a walk in came in a bit after 8 pm. Hostess Angie was so very nice and put us on the waitlist (estimate was 15 min) and took us next door to a waiting area . We didn't get seated until 9 since there were many reservations. When we walked in from the waiting area with the very nice hostess we were stopped by a very RUDE hostess Marisa , that had seen us prior and said they were closed and not seating anyone. I said we had been here waiting since 8 ish. She continued telling the other hostess no very rudely right in front of us .
