Had an awesome power lunch at Apex with Lynn and his son and enjoyed a great Medium Rare Burger with large square fries. The menu was simple but cooked and taste to perfection. We did not go for the Buffet but it looked fantastic. (It closes at 3pm). The service was friendly, dedicated and secured by a mosaic of international students. Here at the montage to ski and celebrate a birthday! The restaurant and lodge are amazing. Pictures don't do it justice. Beautiful place. The dinner here was exceptional and the sea bass and Cesar salad were delicious as was the warm bread with the honey butter! Our server was so friendly and wonderful and took such good care of us even tho it's the day before the actual birthday. Amazing service, ambiance, food--quality, presentation, taste! The desserts alone rival those at Michelin restaurants. Everything from the bread service to the dessert was incredible. This is a beautiful restaurant with attentive and kind staff. You get a nice view of the ski lifts during the winter. The skier's buffet is good, though a little pricey. In terms of dinner, I was blown away by their homemade bread and apps. However, the sides and entrees were just OK (lacked seasoning) though the steaks were perfectly cooked. Friendly, professional and had wonderful recommendations. The complimentary bread and butter were fantastic. The bread had a thin and crispy crust with a fluffy warm interior. The butter was beautifully shaped into a honey comb with honey filling some of the combs and rosemary. Delicious! The starter was a delicious shrimp and mushroom dish that was light but had a surprisingly differently flavor with almost every bite. As the main course I had the 8 Oz Waygu Filet Mignon (Medium) with a side of Mushrooms and Mashed Potatoes. Everything was phenomenal. Cooked to perfection. My college friends and I stopped at Apex for some apres drinks so I cannot say anything about the food, but the drinks were amazing! We had the best bartender, Derrek, who make us off menu drinks that were so yummy that we had to write a review just for him and his drink. We named the drink "The Derrek" and we highly recommend all Deer Valley skiers skip the champagne and head up to the Apex and try "The Derrek"! read more

Went to Apex for both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast wasn't anything to write home about, but their dinner was outstanding!! Our waiters were fantastic (especially Lauren!) and the food was delicious from start to finish. Their complimentary wheat bread with honey butter was amazing! We also had the gulf prawn appetizer, mushroom risotto, hanger steak, and potato side dish, all of which were some of the best dishes we've ever had in a restaurant. The food was also very good BUT the reason for 3 stars and hopefully was a fluke is my lobster tail tasted like detergent or bleach I can't put a finger on it but something was wrong. Without a doubt the worst meal I've ever had at a hotel of the caliber of the Montage. What was meant to be a special AND tasty birthday experience for my mom turned into a foul culinary and service experience. To begin with, we ordered two appetizer salads and a seafood platter; the platter was good because it was basically untouched by the chef. Hard to mess up two oysters and some crab. The salads, however, were an abomination. The citrus and heart of palm salad was a total miss- the heart of palm was tough and the avocado pieces were black. For Caesar salad you are infinitely better off going to the Wendy's. No anchovies, no salt, no dressing, no anything really ! Moving on to the entrees... Yikes. As you can see in the picture, we ordered an alleged risotto with "lobster"...hmmmm not what we received! Overcooked mushy oatmeal rice with an abundance of parmesan swimming in butter is a more accurate description. We would have been better off eating the Oreos we brought on our road trip in our hotel room. Finally, service was appalling, to say the least. We complained about the offensive Caesar, which clearly pissed off our already annoyed and disagreeable waiter, which set the precedent for the remainder of the night. We were ignored, dirty plates were left for over 30 minutes in our faces, and we had to summon several staff to clean things up. Overall, this experience was shocking and disappointing, especially for a special night. We will proceed to book our future luxury resort stays at the likes of the Aman, St. Regis, and Four Seasons. read more

It was my first time at this hotel and restaurant so I'm not sure if it's just one of those restaurants that has fallen off due to covid or if it has always been this bad, but it was very disappointing. When you see a nice steakhouse menu with high prices, you tend to expect a lot. I did notice some not too good reviews from this restaurant but I decided to give it a try anyways. First off, I tried to book a reservation here on open table, yet there were no times available for the whole night on 9/4. I know open table isn't always accurate, so I tried to call the actual restaurant 5 times, and no one answered. I even left a message like the machine said to and didn't get a call back... not surprised. Yet somehow we just show up around 6/7pm on the same date that open table said they were completely booked, and they were able to seat us right away. Not the greatest first impression but still willing to give it a chance. Well, this restaurant did not live up to its expectations. We ordered the Caesar salad and toragashi tuna to start. The Caesar salad had great flavor but the tuna was flavorless, and the size comparison between these dishes was comical. The Caesar salad being huge and the tuna being tiny. Then, my boyfriend got the elk, medium-rare as suggested, and I got the bouillabaisse. The elk (pictured) to me looked completely raw, like not even seared on the outside. But my boyfriend gladly ate it, just slyly mentioning it's under-preparation. Now I could be wrong, but I don't think medium rare elk should look dark red... I've never had bouillabaisse before and was very excited to try what I've heard is a flavorful dish. However it also was bland, and the lukewarm temperature of the seafood kind of scared me as well. For sides we got the potato purée and the mushrooms. Mushrooms had decent flavor on some but were lukewarm as well. Potato purée was not too flavorful. I hate to complain especially when I'm expecting a lot from a restaurant that looks this nice, that is located in a hotel this nice. But this place is really not worth your time or money or palate. Anyways, a $250 birthday dinner later, and we're opting for room service instead! read more

We have been to Apex before for dinner but our experience this time was excellent. The server was great, very friendly, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations. We had the creamed spinach, with cheese, and crab for a side dish was very good. We ended our meal with a chocolate cake and it was fantastic. We will definitely be back. Mark the banquet manager seems to always be around to make sure that everything goes to the best. We had a fantastic meal and even better service. This is a high end resort so expect to pay 4-5 times the price of wine, but the service makes up for it. Came here for lunch post-massages with friends. They seated the 4 of us at a table by the windows, it was a gorgeous view. We ordered a ton of food: the wings (delicious), wagyu beef nachos (must order, and it's a HUGE portion), and a salad. Then 2 of us split the chicken schnitzel and salmon, the other 2 split the schnitzel and tacos. The chicken schnitzel was so good. Definitely order this! This used to be a great spot for lunch after a hike. Now it is just overpriced and disappointing. It took ten minutes to be seated because there were two parties ahead of us. (?) They seated us at a high top with a sticky surface. The coffee was burnt and old and I had to ask for a spoon to stir it. The turkey club was mediocre with wilted lettuce and processed turkey; there was a silver cup with ketchup, though I had greens instead of fries. The Caesar salad was a huge pile of romaine with a gooey overly salted dressing. And it took 30 minutes to bring our food. Got through to Concierge once but they were not very encouraging, implying that unless you stay with the Hotel exclusively, they likely won't take your reservation. Great place!! Dinner was delicious. I ordered the Moroccan Chicken and my mom had the Filet Mignon.. both were delicious. The bread was great - some kind of cheddar popper. Also, the compliments of the chef was good - it was some kind of salami w/ garlic and bread sticks. They also gave us some butter, pepper and black sea salt for the bread. My mom and I loved the sea salt - literally could just eat that by itself haha. For the appetizer we ordered the crab cakes. It was yummy. They definitely did not skimp on crab. For dessert we ordered two crepes - rhubarb & peach, and the dulce de leche chocolate. our waiter Christopher was great. Good customer service and very knowledgeable. The manager also came out and made sure we were doing good. The ambiance is good. We sat in the room with the fireplace - very cozy and elegant. Lighter colors and carpeted floors. There is another room where the bar is and it is a little different. Wood floors and a little darker look. There was a third room, but it was closed off - since we went during the not so busy season. A strange and rude experience from the Apex/ Burgers and Bourbon manager...and we are Park City locals. What a strange and rude experience from the main hostess- did not get her name-but a brunette female who works the check in desk for 2 restaurants-Apex and Bourbon and Burgers. So check this out..we are Park City locals and normally our establishments will be courteous with us as it us locals that support local business 365 days a year. At any rate, we called ahead and said we wanted to have casual dining at Burgers and Bourbon. We were told to "Get there before 7 and it should not be a problem". We got to the restaurant check in desk at aprox 645PM where we met the not-so-nice brunette female manager. She was determined to not be helpful. First she said it would be aprox an hour wait (hoping us locals would just go away...it was clear from her rudeness, body language, and hoity toity attitude. So we said, "Great we can wait one hour...". Almost immediately she THEN CHANGES what she is telling us, "Well, it could really be a 1-2 hour wait; and I can't really guarantee if even then...". It was transparent that she did not want to accommodate us AT ALL. Then...this is hard to believe- 2 nice guys from Atlanta (hotel guests) overheard us and our dilemma and they said, "Hey, we had 4 people bail out at the last moment...why don't you just join our table". While this was a very generous and creative solution, the brunette female manager was not happy with this (Again, you could just TELL she did not want us LOCALS dining there for whatever reasons we could never figure out). You would think her attitude would have been (should have been), "Great, lets make that work". But nooooooo. Instead she still questioned heavily if this could be done. She literally asked, "Well, will you all be ordering at the same time?". She even had the gall to ask one of the Atlanta gentleman, "Will your wives be OK with this"? She was simply- AWEFUL, rude, and non-accommodating. Pardon the length of this....but this is too rich. SO.....we finally get into the Apex restaurant and join the Atlanta (very kind) group. We all had a blast. But, as we sat there for the next 2 hours, running up a $500+ bill, we noticed the restaurant was NEVER packed, and several open 4-tops were present the ENTIRE time we were there. So, basically she could have accommodated us; and given these facts may have been simply dishonest about how "booked" they were/are. Also, given our figuring out she was very likely not completely honest about how "booked" they were...we wandered into the Burgers and Bourbon area 3 times throughout the evening and there were PLENTY of open tables the ENTIRE night. (Remember, she told us a 1-2 hour wait...etc). The stupid thing about this- 1)Obviously I am not happy and taking the time to write this negative review. 2) We are locals and are normally treated much better 3)Her hoity-toity rudeness was so transparent 4)Given the facts, she is likely simply a liar 5) This whole experience did NOT represent the Montage organization well. 6)We ended up leaving behind over $700 by the time we ate there, tipped, and had some drinks in the main lobby bar. If I owned the Montage and knew this rude brunette female was "running off" the locals and knew how hoity-toity rude and non-accommodating she was...I would either fire her, or get her further better customer service training. Sad and unnecessary rudeness. Heck, the group we met from Atlanta could NOT have been NICER....so we think we made some new friends .That was the best part in the end. read more
