After dealing with a family health scare, we were understandably anxious about dining out. For anyone caring for a loved one, it can be difficult to want a sense of normalcy and go out as a family while still managing their needs. The way Chimayo accommodated my family is something I will never forget. Our server Jared, the hostess up front, and the manager are incredible people. We asked to move to a quieter spot after being seated next to a larger group that was getting loud, and they immediately accommodated us with such kindness and understanding. Chimayo has always been a family favorite because the food is consistently delicious and top tier. However, after today, the food is simply the cherry on top. The compassion, attentiveness, and genuine care shown by the staff are what will truly stay with me. Exceptional customer service paired with incredible food. This place is special in every way.
This place was good, but I think it's expensive for expensive sake. If I'm gonna pay $50-$65 for a meal, I expect five stars. This place was a before because the flavors didn't quite hit as much. The duck enchiladas were just OK. The appetizer was probably our favorite part with the guacamole and tuna. The bread was also tasty with its dip. We got this to share for two people. I love the water cups. They're really fun.
This place was awesome! Came here for a group dinner the night before Valentine's Day. Kent was our waiter. Everything was awesome. Margaritas were strong and delicious. The bread at the beginning with the dip was the perfect starter after a long day of drinking we started with the el trio and it was delicious. Then we all ordered different entrees and were all impressed! Would definitely come back here again
Finished out our trip with a delicious dinner. We had a party of 15 and ordered a various selection of appetizers. The El Trio and Queso Fundido were my favorites. For my main course, I split the Tierra y Mar (steak and lobster) and Trout Fajitas.The lobster was incredible. Everyone at the table seemed to enjoy their food. Our server Matt was great and didn't miss a beat. I didn't like my margarita and he got me and my friend a new one, and also helped me organize a birthday desert for my friend. This was a great spot for a nicer group dinner
We made a reservation at this popular restaurant highly recommended in the MY Times. It is a southwest theme & we are sure to believe we are somewhere else. The wine & tequila lists are extensive. Cat waited on us & started with icy cold goblets of water, warm bread & a cilantro spread. She was so accommodating and told us all about the ingredients in our fabulous dishes. The entrees run $50+ and the glazed ribs are not to be missed. We started by sharing the Aztec nachos with ahi tuna with capers, avocado, pistachio pesto & a mango sauce. The portion was generous and sweet, salty creamy, just wonderful. Next came the ribs they were indescribably beautiful, unique & delicious. They were Instagramable! Chef Gudrun Thorne-Thomsen did an exceptional job!
We loved our experience here. The Chimayó beet salad was vibrant and well balanced, and the mains really delivered. The herb-crusted Chilean seabass was perfectly cooked and flavorful, while the blackened Wagyu sirloin had great depth and a beautiful sear. The vegetable enchiladas were comforting and thoughtfully seasoned. Tasteful, flavorful food, a cute and inviting interior, and attentive service made the whole evening feel easy and enjoyable. Would definitely come back.
We tried this restaurant for dinner and noticed right away that the prices were pretty high. We decided to order the Duck Enchiladas. The dish looked great when it arrived, but it was a too salty. For the price, we expected it to taste way better. Our server was very friendly and knew the menu well,However the food took a long time to arrive. The atmosphere was really nice. It had a cozy, castle-like design , and even the cups and plates matched the medieval theme. Overall, it's a ok place

Inside of the restaurant is also very cool has a rustic Spanish vibe to it.
This restaurant has friendly service, classy atmosphere, and photogenic plates. Everything feels so grand here-- from the chalices you drink from to the spiral staircase leading you to the downstairs bathroom. I ordered the chicken relleno and it was a large portion and tasty. I thought the garnishes here were over the top, but that could be nice if you're looking to celebrate something special. I would recommend this place for a small group or date. For a party of 3, we spent around $250.

A beautiful fountain right outside the entrance can provide great entertainment for children while waiting for food. :) As with all of Park City, prices are steep. It's easily the most expensive Mexican restaurant I go to. Most entrees are in the $50- $60 price range. Despite the steep prices, Chimayo is a great place to eat. The service is great and the food is quality. The wagyu beef fajitas were easily the best fajitas I've had in my life. Freshly made tortillas with beef cooked perfectly on top of a delicious bed of melty cheese and veggies. The sauce on top was umami central. This was a special menu item, and I highly recommend ordering it!! The scallops were cooked perfectly, the beet salad was refreshing with lovely sugared pecans, and the potato served with the wagyu sirloin was also the best potato I've eaten in my life. The skin was crisp and salted, so I happily ate the whole thing. The bathroom is downstairs and is clean and decorated. However, a diaper changer is missing and would be appreciated by parents.

I waited and waited to eat here. But I will not be able to recommend the food to anyone. Hannah our server was the best part of our meal. She was attentive, caring and really took great care of us. But everything was so ordinary. The trio platter was the only thing I would say was good. But the hummus was too salty and aesthetically having chips on the side was just odd? The mains- the Chilean sea bass was flaky but the sides were underwhelming. Everything was bland. My husband got the duck enchiladas. They were strictly ok. The tees leches cake was a couple leches missing :) Vibe was great. Service great- but our family wouldn't come back. read more

The best! Came here with a group of 6 ladies and we were seated in a large round booth, which was perfect for us. Our server came quickly and helped provide us recommendations and answer any questions we had. The starter bread was lovely, and my Vegetable Enchiladas meal was amazing! We wrapped up dinner with the Churros, which were sooo delish! Another aspect to note: They had a free coat check at the door! This was super helpful as we had large coats. read more

Very unique dishes and pretty tasty. There weren't many people there when I went so the ambience was very chill. However, the staff gave good recommendations and guided us through the menu. I enjoy the experience and would go back. read more

It really depends on what scale you use to evaluate high end restaurants when comparing reviews. That is why Chimayo, and all the high end places on Main must be compared to each other, not what you can get near you if you live in or near major cities. For instance, in San Diego area, this place is a 3 star driven primarily for price to food quality and wine list. It is 4 in Park City because they get a lot right, like service and presentation of dishes. The watermelon salad came with sour cucumbers so I manned up and sent it back. It took a while, but apparently the chef agreed and sent out a plate of cucumbers. The fact that I was already 3/4 done the salad, with a pile of cucumbers on the side of my plate, seemed not to matter. The surf and turf came with underwhelming shrimp on top. The potatoes on the side were a little greasy. The elk was very good as was the potato augratin side. Without that dish, this place rates a 3. read more
When you go to a Bill White restaurant, you are probably going to get a fantastic meal. At some of the restaurants, including this one, you may have to take out a second mortgage, but you will have a fantastic meal. Everything on Main Street is expensive, so there's kind of a relative value here when the food and experience is so good. We have tried to go to Chimayo for a few years, but always wait too late to get a reservation. This time I planned ahead. Beautiful restaurant inside and out. Service was excellent. Tyler was our waiter? Taylor? He was great. I had one of their spicy margaritas upgraded to mescal. Excellent. My wife had the pomegranate margarita, which she liked, but was too sweet for my taste. Came in a strangely tall glass. We split a beet salad for a starter. They served it on separate plates, and the portions were huge. Very tasty. I splurged and got the elk London broil. I was really balking at the $65 price tag, and frankly there wasn't a whole lot of meat there, but it was delicious in every way and, when combined with sides, was quite filling. My wife got the ribs. See the photo - it was an incredibly inventive preparation/plating. Looks like a meat tower. Delicious and filling. The waiter said Bill White likes vertical presentations. Decent corkage fee policy too. $35 fee, which is kind high, but they comp the fee if you order a round of drinks. So we were happy to oblige and benefit. read more

This restaurant is located on the popular area of Main Street. It is on a corner and there is parking on the street or in the parking garages out back. Our group went for an early dinner (5pm) a couple weeks ago on a Friday. There was no wait, but it is also a less busy time in Park City. As time went on the restaurant filled up. Our waiter was knowledgeable and was well mannered. The restaurant is two levels - street level and a basement. The food was good, but overpriced in my opinion. It's southwestern food with a unique twist. We had the Queso Fundido as an appetizer. It was good, but the cheese was so stringy. I think we were supposed to stir it more (maybe?), but no one told us that. For dinner I had the Ahi Tuna Taco - which was a huge single taco. I did take some of the filling out to eat on its own since the taco was so big to pick up. It was yummy and the sauce was good. Still think it is over priced. No one ordered dessert, but the churro looked good! Also - the drinking cups made me feel like I was at medieval times haha. read more

Ambience and service were excellent. Really beautiful inside and our server was very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We ordered based off recommendations from our server. I had the scallops which were very nice size and came with potatoes. My only complaint is that the dish was drowned in a tarte sauce. It would have been tastier if the sauce was just slightly drizzled on the dish. My husband ordered the elk. It was good, not delicious, it didn't particularly jump out as outstanding. Had such a great meal last night at Chimayo This is not your ordinary Mexican restaurant and that is a very good things. They start you off with a delicious bread basket that includes a cilantro creama sauce that was good enough to make you want to lick the bowl. One taste and i knew we were in for a great meal. Got the el trio for an appetizer, the hummus, guacamole and salsa were all outstanding. Next came the corn soup and let me tell you....this was one of the best bowls of soup I've ever had. It was smooth and silky almost velvety if that makes sense. It had such a depth of roasted sweet corn flavor and a nice subtle crunch from the tortilla chip garnish that was on top. I'll be dreaming of this soup for months. My entree was the chicken fajita and this was worlds beyond a basic onion and pepper fajita. There was corn, beans, hatch chilis an amazing dish. This will be must stop if I ever find my way back to park city. read more

Second time here and it only gets better. Staff and ambiance great. Food is flavorful and creative. We got the duck enchiladas this time and it was not an ordinary enchilada. Full of flavor and the piece of duck leg was crispy and delicious! The beet salad was bursting with flavors. The pomegranate seeds and pecan added to the salad. Aggressively average food for almost comically high prices. This is squarely aimed at the more-money-than-taste crowd. Duck enchiladas were actually cold inside when they arrived. Chimayo is a beautiful dinning experience in downtown park city, Utah! Fantastic food and drink options across the board there is clearly something for everyone to experience here showing they have been around since the 90's for a good reason. Now, while I thought our server was good and the ambience was top-notch I did feel the place is a little cramped and maybe not the best restraunt in terms of value. Overall I did very much enjoy my experience and definitely recommend going here! Drinks: First the drink list is spectacular! they have a great Malbec and a killer modern-styled Rioja Reserva for reds with St.Suprey being a stellar Sauvignon Blanc option along with the Albariño for whites. The cocktails are well themed and the house margarita is clearly great! But what stole the show for us was the liquid desserts.... My gosh that Chimayo Coffee is ridiculously good, once I order one the whole table got one it was so delicious. Food: Surprisingly one of my favorite dishes was the soup of the night; Chicken Tortilla Soup. The soup was so creamy making it really stand out being possibly the best tasting I've ever had, it's absolutely not your average version so I highly recommend trying it, because this soup is truly on another level. Secondly, the waiter had told me the ribs have been on the menu since 1996 and I see why because they absolutely stole the show as the best Entrée. It was so much food and the whole presentation just makes your eyes open wide haha, I didn't expect it. That chipotle glaze is so great and I only wish the hominy Salpićon had that glaze all over it. Admittedly my Buffalo was served a little rare but had so much flavor and the Cumin-chili pepper sauce is ludicrously good, I wish I could take it home personally. Also the sautéed Green beans were fantastic with the mushrooms, very well done. I think the weakest dishes to me were the steak dishes... (Wagu surf & Turf / Blacked Wagu Sirloin) this did surprise me as the Wagu while perfectly cooked and both accompanied by wonderful sauces just felt overpriced being not as tender or flavorful compared to other steaks I've had at Twisted fern and Blind Dog ect... the sides are great and they clearly are well put together entrées but ultimately there are better options here other than steak. Dessert: The dessert wine list is also amazing and really appreciated that they offer the vintage port options with the Vieira de Sousa 2017 (top vintage 98pts) being delightful and went incredibly good with the flan. I loved their take on the flan, while admittedly being more of a traditionalist I was impressed as the fig worked surprisingly well with the orange Carmel. I did wish there was a little less orange so the flan could shine more but was very happy I ordered it because it disappeared quite quickly! Overall Very Solid restaurant I understand the high ratings just don't go here for a steak... get something unique, see what they specialize in and you'll leave understanding why they have been around awhile as well as the high praise reviews. Chimayo is a southern Mexican/Utah restaurant so order the food they do best and those are the original dishes with the most flare, you won't be disappointed. read more

This place is adorable and I loved the atmosphere here. We had a later reservation 8:45pm so there was zero wait for the booth. Our waiter was extremely attentive, the amount of refills I got for my ice tea was unreal. We started with the Queso Fundido. The cheese was melted to perfection and it was very tasty. We also tried the elk skewers, this is my first time trying elk and I will says it's interesting. Not sure I'm in love with the type of meat elk is more of a chew to it than I prefer. I had the vegetable enchiladas for dinner, it's more of a flautas dish than enchiladas. I liked the guac they added to the top of this, I would probably ask for sour cream sad I didn't do that. The quinoa was a nice side and I can say I was definitely full. read more

Food (1.5/2): Had ceviche, duck enchilada, elk london broil, and crown roast spare ribs. The ceviche was great, as well as their complimentary bread. Wasn't quite sure if it was because we were hungry waiting or genuinely good. The duck enchilada was amazingly soft and creative--duck with the fried leg and "burrito". Definitely unique and tasty. Likewise, the elk's flavor came out and vegetables complemented the flavor incredibly well without hints of "gamey-ness". Disappointingly, crown ribs were alright. It was melt-in-your-mouth tender but the flavor was rather standard: sweet, with a hint of tanginess. Service/wait-time/cleanliness (1.5/2): Service in general was amazing. Server was very friendly, attentive, and active in ensuring our satisfaction. Wait time however was incredibly slow (had to wait ~45 min for the entrees). Ceviche was quick but this is likely because it requires little-to-no-cooking. I'd give a bit of the benefit of the doubt due to crowd and possibly long cooking preparation. Our server was very on top of it by updating us on how long the food will arrive (granted it kept getting delayed). Place is kept well-cleaned, though a bit too noisy--it does add character though. Price (0.5/1): For the portion and price, it was quite worth it. However, I think it's a tad bit overpriced on some of the dishes. Elk was worth it; ribs was worth it. Everything else, I would say a tad bit on the expensive side? Rounded to 4 due to overall great experience. read more

Wanted to like this place more, but the food really wasn't anything that special - especially for the price. The best thing we ate was the dip trio, the hummus and salmon dip were amazing. Tortilla soup was pretty average, same with salad. The steak was average, but the double stuffed potatoes was amazing. It was super busy on NYE and the staff was running all over the place. It's a small restaurant, don't go if you don't like tight spaces. read more

Me and my family had a long day of traveling and had reservations at the Chimayo. It did not disappoint, but for your information I have to eat Frosted Flakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner now. To start off, the service was very attentive. I could not find anything to complain about. Something always good to have in a restaurant like this. Next, the food was amazing. We as a family had the corn tortillas soup. The soup was very good and pair with the complimentary bread, perfecto. For my entree I ordered the Wagyu Serf and TERF. It did not disappoint one bit. The steak was amazing and the lobster. My parents shared the Buffalo flank steak. They said in unison "It was flavorful and juicy." (Don't tell them, but I snuck a bite and I would agree.) Finally, the Ambiance was busy and had an old eclectic vibe. The interior was made up of brick wall and had several stoneworks and glass artwork. It also had a soothing smell and chatter. In conclusion, my experience at Chimayo was amazing and had a great dinner with my family. Everything about this place was amazing from the food to the service to the ambiance. Had an amazing (and extremely filling) dinner. Started off with the elk skewer and the stuffed avocado. Both were delicious and perfectly dressed with fresh herbs. Also had the trio sampler of soups -awesome! Then for the buffalo skirt steak entree -perfectly cooked with a little spice in the sauce. Also have to recommend the sangria -very unique and delicious. We put our name on the waitlist for a 2-3 hour wait where the latest we would be sat was 8:30pm, sure no problem. We don't hear anything at 8:30 so we walk back over to see how much longer it would be, the hostess was extremely opinionated and told us that "most people make a reservation for the time they want to eat". Obviously, we just wanted to dine here and were even willing to wait. She then told us we could "make a reservation" for 9:15.... It was now 8:45, so we decided to do that. We went to grab a drink at Alpine Distillery, and then got a call at 8:59 that our table was ready and she would hold it for a minute.. after some discussion with coworkers she said she could hold it for 5-10 minutes and we asked if they could just honor the 9:15 reservation, she said sure. Anyways, on to the food. Everything was absolutely horrible. 3/4 of us didn't eat more than 1/3 of our entrees. We took it home because we don't like food waste. I don't remember a single notable dish that we ordered and we all collectively lied to the server about how everything tasted because it was 10:20pm and none of it was particularly her fault because at this point our time was money and it's time to just move on. We tipped her generously and went off on our ways. How is this a highly recommended place in Park City? The entire experience was so sad except the wine, and that has nothing to even do with the actual restaurant except the fact that they had to stock it and open it.
