My husband surprised me by bringing me here for our two-year anniversary. As we stepped inside, we were led through a shadowy corridor to the back of the restaurant--a secluded alcove whispered to be reserved for lovers. A bottle of crimson wine, which my husband had so thoughtfully requested when making the reservation, awaited us like a silent sentinel on our table. The moment the wine kissed my lips, rich and velvety like a dark secret, I knew this night would etch itself into the marrow of my memory. Surrounding us was an enchanting gothic ambiance: flickering candlelight cast trembling shadows upon the stone walls, and the air was heavy with the heady perfume of roses and aged wood. The entire room breathed intimacy, like a cathedral of indulgence. Upon first glance at the menu--gilded and inked in an elegant, archaic script--my mouth watered with almost sinful anticipation. Everything looked positively decadent, but alas, I knew I must show restraint, lest I be consumed by my own ravenous desire. Our waiter appeared--Gehrig, a vision of aesthetic perfection, with cascading brunette curls and eyes that seemed to hold ancient, knowing mischief. He recommended that we begin with three to four plates. We chose the baked brie, lobster ravioli, Eva's steak, and Eva's pizza. Each dish arrived like an offering to some delicious pagan ritual, and my husband and I devoured them as though spellbound. With each bite, we released low, primal murmurs of pleasure--"mmmmmmm"--echoing like chants in a haunted chapel. For dessert, we indulged in the crème brûlée, its sugar crust cracking like old parchment beneath our spoons, revealing the creamy, golden heart beneath. Beside it sat a decadent marvel: a dark chocolate cup filled with warm, molten ganache, crowned with scorched marshmallows that looked like ghostly little clouds singed by candlelight. As I took a bite, the toasted sweetness gave way to a rich, velvety darkness that coated my tongue like a forbidden spell--smoky, sweet, and utterly divine. It was less a dessert and more an incantation, casting a spell that sealed the evening in delicious eternity. Throughout our two-hour reverie, sweet Gehrig floated in and out of our little sanctum, always arriving precisely when needed, as though summoned by some invisible incantation. His enthusiastic spirit and hauntingly bright smile elevated the evening to something almost supernatural. Eva wouldn't be Eva without Gehrig--our charming guide through this gothic culinary dreamscape. My husband and I agreed that all future anniversaries must be consecrated at Eva. After the dark and stormy year we had endured, it was this night--bathed in candlelight and cloaked in enchantment--that rekindled the sacred fire between us. The energy that the environment creates is one that feels classy and mysterious. The staff was excellent and very kind upon entrance. The menu had a large variety of items that were specific to one "type" of food ! I loved that there were so many options to choose from. This is a restaurant that is a small dish/appetizer kind of place ! We had a great evening, enjoying different dishes in this small gem. Some food - like the meatballs - came out a bit cold which did diminish the deliciousness of the dish. However, dishes were not insanely unique, things you could find at other places. For the pricing, I would say the dishes could have been more interesting. For starters this place was really cute. The ambiance was moody and a great place to talk and hangout with friends. It's a fairly small space but with reservation there shouldn't be an issue getting a spot. The food was good. I wouldn't say it was amazing by any means however the Fig pizza was a personal favorite. The plates ARE SMALL, yes they advertise as a small plate establishment but we were surprised by all but the pizza. So come ready to but lots of options to share. Such cozy vibes with relaxing music to boot. The space was thoughtfully decorated, intentional and minimal. The perfect spot for a meal to unwind. The food: Quality fresh ingredients (best watermelon salad I've had, and crispy trout that made me say: "yummmm"). Delicious cocktails. My go to is always a gimlet (refreshing and light) so I gave their garden gimlet a try. Did not disappoint. While these may be listed as small plates the portions are generous compared to other experiences I've had. Price point is great too! Expected to pay much more. This restaurant is LOVELY. From the food, to the service, to the setting, we LOVED Eva. I have been dying to go here for years now and finally got to try it while celebrating my birthday. We got to sit at the table closest to the kitchen which was a fun experience as well. Eva is a well-oiled machine and these guys know what they're doin!! The food was beautiful and delicious. We went to Eva Restaurant SLC for our 15-year anniversary and they did not disappoint. We started the meal with a few cocktails (Bees Knees, Forêt, and the Player Piano special) and some of Eva's Bakery Bread. I really enjoyed the Bees Knees and my husband loved his Forêt. The Player Piano was super bitter and unique. Our small plates came out in a rapid fire way, which was fine because we were grazing on them all together. We got the Slow-Roasted Tri-Tip Bruschetta, Fig and Pig Pizza, Charred Beets, and Shrimp and Grits (which my husband wasn't a fan of). The servings were bigger than expected. The server comped a Warm Banana Bread Pudding to celebrate our anniversary, which was alright but needed more ice cream. Overall the service was amazing and the food was reasonably priced for the small plate sizes. Sadly the beautiful open patio was covered due to the weather, but the atmosphere was still good. My friends and I chose Eva's Pizza, Brussel Sprouts, the Lobster Ravioli, and the Bread and Butter. While everything was tasty, I'd have to say the Lobster Ravioli was my top favorite. HUGE shout-out to the lovely Emily for giving me a table tonight when I walked in, solo and sans a rez, to try what turned out to be one of the best pizzas I've ever had - the perfect Fig & Pig. Picture it: arugula pesto, mozzarella, prosciutto and fig jam. It is rare that I finish a whole pie by myself but when the food is THIS good, you simply must savor every bite. My friends know I'm a CA foodie and took me to EVA. Right out of the gate everything was well thought through. Nice seating. Attentive service. Chilled atmosphere. But in the end it's all about the food and this was the best food I've ever had in Utah! Definitely give the charred carrot and the beet dishes a try. Unique and superb. Four friends and I visited Eva to share some outstanding tapas, and Eva did NOT disappoint! It was difficult finding a time that worked for all five of us, so we ended up doing a walk-in for an early dinner; we were seated without a wait, and then the venue filled up quickly. We ordered quite a number of small plates to share, and asked our server to bring them whenever they were ready.  It was obvious with all the food that all the ingrients used were carefully selected and fresh, and everything was totally delicious! Tip: The portion sizes here are quite a bit larger than many of the other tapas restaurants I've visited previously Having tried quite a good cross-section of Eva's menu, I'm pleased to report that it's pretty difficult to go wrong with whatever you decide to try.  I especially enjoyed the cauliflower and the pizzas, with honorable mention going to the bread and "The End" dessert as well. Eva definitely lives up to the hype. You know when you go to a restaurant and have to read their menu four times because there are no options that look good? I had the opposite problem here, I got hooked on every menu item because they all looked like things I would eat. AND all the specials looked good. Service was fast and friendly, we were seated nearly right away on a busy Saturday night. The pricing is very reasonable for the high quality of food, the table settings and atmosphere aren't overly fancy; it's a good balance that makes this an approachable yet indulgent place to eat. The cocktails here are great, I particularly liked the Bee's Knees here, it's very floral. I'd also recommend the asparagus, it's just the right combination of everything. A few tips: - Definitely worth making reservations, this place is very popular! - If you have leftovers, this is the type of place that boxes them for you (there is nothing I love more than this!) - The Basque cheesecake is good, but it's a different flavor and texture than an American or New York style cheesecake. The interior is very cozy and warm, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. As you can see, the food was extremely good, hence why there are zero photos. We got (in no particular order of tastiness): - sautéed brussels sprouts (fantastic dish - I have a newfound respect for shredded Brussels sprouts) - cheese board & crostini (given the excellence of the other dishes, I felt this didn't match up to the rest of the dishes) - eva's bakery bread with regular butter and herb butter (who doesn't love warm bread and tasty butter?) - spanish meatballs (I wanted a smidge more flavor but still pretty good) - harissa carrots (the dukkah and the harissa flavoring was magical) - togarashi fried chicken (the peanuts on top add another dimension to the crunchy exterior. Very tender on the inside) - slow roasted tri-tip bruschetta - eva's steak (perfectly done medium steak) - spinach & potato gnocchi (very good, no notes) - lobster ravioli (a true winner - we had 2 rounds because it was that good) - charred beets - grilled lamb chops (perfect seasoning, extremely tender, and fell off the bone) - chocolate pot de créme (basically a deconstructed s'more) - warm banana bread pudding For drinks, I tried the nonalcoholic nai-tai and the salted Meyer. Cute little place downtown near plenty of parking and amazing city views. Make sure to grab a reservation a few days in advance. Seating is tight but they make it work and there is plenty of room on the modest tables for several different dishes. We started with a few cocktails and we loved the Tigersmilk the most, it was a little tropical and not overpowering with alcohol. The Desert Sage was also very refreshing and not overpowering. Moving on to the small plates, we started with the beet salad and cheese board. The beet salad was delicious, served warm and with a little bit of mint. The cheese board had some great bread and cheese and some unexpected but delicious cherry jelly. Next we tried the cauliflower which was very lightly battered and garnished with a flavorful caper-raisin vinaigrette. The last thing we had was the Vegan pizza, I really liked the squash purée and all the veggies they included. The balsamic reduction made a perfect topping and it was the perfect sharing size. We really enjoyed this quaint little downtown spot, it's a great place to grab a bite before hitting one of the many bars within walking distance. It was All-Star weekend and SLC was BUSY! We stumbled upon Eva after the celebrity game. The host of the night was awesome! He immediately welcomed us in and didn't ask the extremely hostile "dO yOu HaVe A rEsErvAtIoN?" When we were clearly just looking for a quick bite to eat. Eva's vibe is super fun. Dim lighting. Close tables. Fun decor. And the whole place is a lot bigger thank you'd think. Dishes ordered: pizza, fries and calamari. Great shareable plates for 4 people. I rarely write reviews on yelp but Eva truly is THAT good that I felt the need to do so. After living in nyc for six years, one of the things I missed the most in Utah was the big city restaurant scene. I am here to say that Eva would absolutely hold its own amongst the best of the best in any major culinary city. Every time I come here I am blown away by the service, the quality of the food and drinks, and also the diversity of menu items. I literally dream about the "Eva's steak" and would come here just for that on its own. With that being said, every item I've tried on the menu is delicious, and you truly can't go wrong with anything you order. Additionally, the prices are phenomenal and I'm always shocked at how reasonable the bill is based on the quality and experience that you receive here. Eva is a cute and unique little restaurant. There are not a lot of tables in there, but they use their space well. Clever and stylish decor! The food is the highlight and definitely worth the wait. Things come out slowly, sometimes VERY slowly. But it was melt-in-your-mouth yummy! We shared bread, rosemary fries, fried chicken, Eva's pizza, and banana bread pudding. Everything was perfect. I think the chicken was my favorite! The only drawbacks were how slow we got everything. It took 90 minutes to get in and out, which was stressful because we were trying to make something at Eccles Theater. Perhaps if you had 2-3 hrs to enjoy the pace, it would have been more enjoyable. Went to Eva on a Friday night in SLC, after about 45 mins of waiting (this place was packed). Unfortunately their patio was closed since there was rain and thunder but the wait was worth it. We ended up getting: Spinach and potato gnocchi - I really liked this, very soft and came with peas and mushrooms which added a great sweetness Togarshi fried chicken - the fam didnt love this as much it was pretty simple but I liked the congee it came with. SLC has a loooooooong way to go to catch up to the food scene of their big brother Denver to the east. I was told by multiple locals to try this place and I couldn't be more disappointed. First, the welcome and seating was not pleasant. There were a number of us in line waiting to meet the host as there was no one at the host stand. When I was finally greeted I was told, "this is a tapas place, you'll like it". When I was being seated I was told, "this is kind of like a danish tapas place". When the server first arrived he told me, "we do Spanish tapas here". While they do have a "appetizers" approach, in no way is it tapas and in no way is it Spanish. The menu is a bunch of small plates American style. The food was bland at best. The server was good but nothing above average.
