One of the best restaurants I've been to in a while! Was looking for casual patio drinks and did not know what I was getting myself into. I got an orange wine and my friends got drinks as well. They have a VAST wine menu. The food was even better. We stuck with the tapas and the Tosta de Cecina was the best steak food I think I've ever had!!! So flavorful and perfectly cooked. If I didn't know better, I'd think this magical corner of the 15th and 15th area was plucked right out of Europe and dropped here. The patio...the lighting...the landscape and bricks....it's all so magical. And I have only seen it in the dead of winter-I can only imagine and anticipate how breathtaking it is in the summer months. They have high quality food that's all lovingly made-small plate style. I enjoyed everything are, patatas bravas and mussels were our favorites but didn't have a bad bite with all the food including tortilla espanola, lamb skewer, and bacon wrapped dates. With the mussels I loved the broth it came in including the chorizo, yum! We also enjoyed a couple glasses of wine each from the wine by the glass menu, they are all very reasonably priced and high quality. I especially enjoyed my glass of cava. The pacing of the food was perfect, we got a dish or two at a time. For dessert, we had churros, honestly this was probably my least favorite, I would have preferred them more crispy but still good none the less. Finca is a good option to enjoy some Spanish cuisine in an intimate atmosphere. The food was satisfying, and our server was nice. I especially enjoyed the croqueta. I did, however, think the paella de valenciana was lacking some flavor. Their wine by glass selection was not as extensive as I was expecting, but the wine we did have was good. One other thing I noticed was, when we first came into the restaurant, there were only a few other parties, and the dining room itself was very quiet other than the conversations of the other diners. It felt a bit awkward to talk as it felt as though everyone else could hear you. Once the dining room filled up with more guests, that feeling did go away. To be honest, I think I like the idea of Finca more than the execution, and I would only really come back if someone I was planning to dine with really wanted to come here. read more

It was too chilly for the patio (which looks amazing), but we'll definitely be back for that. The hostess was lovely, and our server asked if it was our first time (it was!). He walked us through the menu and shared a few of his personal faves--much appreciated when the tapas options are endless. We started with our usual: a glass of white for me, red for my other half, and then dove into the menu. First up: Jamón Serrano. When they say it comes with chips, they mean it literally--it's served in an actual bag of chips, brand and all. A+ presentation and even better flavor. Next: Tosta de Camarones. Grilled bread topped with a very generous portion of shrimp. We used the leftover chips from the first dish to scoop some up, and the combo was unexpectedly perfect. Then came the Mejillones (mussels). A must-order for us whenever it's on a menu. Huge portion, perfectly cooked, and served with grilled bread to soak up that crave-worthy broth. Last: Patatas Bravas. A classic, but Finca nails it. Crispy, spicy, addictive. We were full but tempted to keep going. Finca may be small, but it brings big flavor and cozy charm. La Finca is a tiny place set inside a house. It feels very cozy, but there is not much space. Service was fine and the pacing of the food was good. The wine list is long, though there is not much by the glass. The reds we tried were good. The Crianza was my favorite, young and light but still flavorful, with a subtle dry finish. We ordered tortilla española, torta de cecina, patatas bravas, mejillones, and pinchos morunos. Everything had great flavor. There was some inconsistency with temperature. The patatas came out just warm, while other dishes were very hot. The pinchos morunos turned out to be more like a meatball on a stick. That may have been my misunderstanding, but when I see lamb pincho I expect grilled pieces of lamb. They were tasty, just more basic than I expected. For dessert we had churros. This may be personal preference, but I like to pick up a churro and dip it in chocolate without it breaking apart. These were more like a fried cake in the shape of a churro and required a spoon. They also have what looks like a very nice patio for good weather. I would be a bit concerned about speed of service if the patio is full, since the kitchen seems quite small. Finca Spanish restaurant in Salt Lake City As someone of Spanish descent and has lived in Spain, I was genuinely excited to dine here. While I wouldn't describe the experience as bad by any means, I did leave with some mixed feelings. The restaurant itself is charming, with a lovely patio and great ambiance. This is a great place to bring a date. The staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout the evening. The food was decent overall, though I do have a few critiques. We started with the croquetas (ham and cheese fritters) which were just okay. I found the pile of cheese on top and the accompanying dipping sauce unnecessary. For me the croquetas lacked a sufficient amount of ham and had too much cheese. The croquetas were decent, but they lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. They were okay, but I've definitely had better The tortilla española (Spanish omelette) had good flavor, but I was surprised--and disappointed--to find whole, small, unpeeled potatoes inside. In Spanish tradition, serving unpeeled potatoes, especially in a tortilla, is considered impolite and unrefined. While the taste was acceptable, the unpeeled potatoes were off-putting and hard to overlook. The patatas bravas (Spanish potatoes) also featured unpeeled potatoes and were slightly overdressed with sauce, though they were otherwise enjoyable. The albondigas (meatballs) were moist, well-seasoned, and flavorful. However, once again, there was an unnecessary addition of cheese, and the sauce leaned more Italian than Spanish in flavor. Still, they were one of the better dishes we tried. Next, we tried the gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp). This dish is usually simple yet flavorful, typically made with olive oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, parsley, lemon, and sometimes white wine. However, these seemed to be cooked in ghee rather than olive oil. While the shrimp were well-cooked and tasty, the richness and heaviness of the ghee overwhelmed the dish and left us feeling too full to continue. We had planned to order several more dishes, but the excessive greasiness put a stop to that. I even found it difficult to wash the oil off my hands afterward. We also ordered the churros, a dish I've seen my grandmother make countless times and one I've enjoyed many times during my visits. Traditional Spanish churros are typically no thicker than a finger, have a slight curl, and are known for their light, crispy, and airy texture. They're usually only lightly dusted with sugar. The version served here, however, closely resembled the Mexican-American churros, I've had in Los Angeles--thick, straight, and heavily coated in sugar and cinnamon and more of the texture and consistency to a cake doughnut. While they were undeniably delicious, they were not authentic Spanish churros. Overall, the experience was pleasant, and the staff was truly fantastic. The food, while tasty, fell short in terms of authenticity. As someone who grew up eating traditional Spanish cuisine, I found this disappointing. That said, if you're unfamiliar with Spanish food, you'll likely enjoy the flavors and the ambiance. It is good food just not authentically Spanish like I was hoping. I do plan to return and explore more of the menu, as I'm hopeful there are other dishes that might capture the authenticity of Spanish cuisine that I was looking for. Booked online very easily and had a nice table in the corner with my friend who was excited to get her bottle of wine opened. Penny sensed her enthusiasm and got us moving into wine and a starter right away. The table was small and we had a lot of dishes coming but the staff really stayed on top of things despite a full restaurant on a Friday night. I also love being offered a fresh plate while eating tapas. Every dish was well seasoned and the shrimp were gigantic and juicy. The mussels in my paella were a little chewy but honestly I have no clue how the magic of paella works to get everything to the right level of doneness. Paella de mariscos- this would be my last meal if I was on death row, easily. Bistec is amazing, could compete for best dish on the menu. The seared Wagyu was slightly more well done than we hoped and didn't wow my girlfriend, but I liked it quite a bit. I like the lamb skewer but it isn't a must have compared to the amazing other offerings. Cazuela de mariscos is a must if you like seafood. Get the churro, even if you're stuffed. The inside seating is quite small and cramped or intimate depending on how you look at it. This spot is a gem! After trying out Table X the previous night, this place was a nice upgrade. Went as a group of 3 after snowboarding and before my flight. The wine choice is solid as hell (Spanish wines) and both bottles of tempranillos we had were amazing and very affordable (one from Rioja region and one from Ribera del Duero). As far as the food, everything was delicious, including the citrus and arugula salad! A must order is the tosta de cecina, that was a appetizing starter and I am so enamored by it. I would want to incorporate that as a wine bar dish. Along with a mussels dish, a chicken paella, and a seared scallops dish, the food we ordered was just the right amount and again, SO GOOD! It didn't take too long to get a seat (expected since we had a reservation), but then we sat, at a table with nothing but water and menus, for 20 minutes! They seemed busy, but not overwhelmingly so. And several servers walked by us - but none of them even made eye contact. We were just about to get up and walk out when our server finally arrived. She was nice enough, but not very attentive for a tapas restaurant. The food was good, but not amazing. It did arrive pretty quickly after our order was put in. The food runner seemed to be doing most of the work that evening! We would have ordered more and been happy to do so, but we had to wait SO LONG for the server to stop by our table each time that we finally got tired of waiting, paid the bill, and left. A few of her friends couldn't make it and then we ended up having to change tables which lead us to sitting inside rather than out. I absolutely loved Finca when it was located downtown, so I was unbelievably thrilled when (to my surprise) I found it on OpenTable for reservations! Now located in the 15th & 15th area, this location is tucked away almost down an alleyway just next to Mazza. It makes you feel like your going on a little adventure in order to reach the entrance. Once inside, the space almost feels like a warm hug - it gives off the feeling of being in a rustic home kitchen and presents you with a very intimate dining experience. My husband and I went there pre-Valentine's weekend, so they were fairly busy but it still did not take away from the atmosphere. Part of my enthusiasm about going to Finca for the first time in quite a while was discovering new menu items, but also seeing which items they had retained from the original menu. Patatas bravas - To my excitement, they still had the Patatas bravas! This dish was a consistent favorite of mine from the original restaurant. The simplicity of crispy potatoes with their bravas sauce and aioli - we ate it so quickly that I didn't even take the time to take a photo! Ceviche - This dish was SO FRESH. It made me feel like I was on vacation. The citrus was so lively and I, myself, am partial to spicier foods, so jalapeño and pickled habanero added some flavor notes that I couldn't get enough of! Not too spicy, just right. Gambas - the garlic & chili oil that these shrimp were cooked in was absolutely to die for. It wasn't overwhelming as far as oiliness and complimented the shrimp so nicely. Croqueta - I'm a pescatarian so I didn't indulge in these, but I can confirm that my husband loved these. They're friend ham & cheese fritters and they appeared to be cooked beautifully. I did try some of the dipping sauce it came with and - YUM!! Tosta de Setas - another item we ate so quickly that I didn't get a photo of it. Grilled bread with confit mushrooms, braised leeks, herbs and olive oil!? I couldn't get enough. The bread had the perfect crisp and it was so flavorful. Churros - we ended on a high note with these. We don't typically go for the dessert at the end of a meal, but we had to with these. I can confirm that it was not regretted. It was the perfect close to our meal and really was the cherry (or in this case churro) on top of the entire meal. All in all, my anticipation and excitement was not let down after visiting Finca. This fairy book like gem is tucked away in between Mazza and King's English Book Store. Took a chance to book my Birthday dinner with friends here and so happy I did! The setting is small & cozy, so lovely with Ivy growing everywhere, string lights, and flowers. We originally started off with outdoor seating for 10, a storm rumbled in with rain and thankfully they were able to accommodate us in a adorable little cottage room area. My partner and I came here for a little anniversary dinner and it was not quite the ambiance we were looking for. It felt more casual, but that is on us not the restaurant. Inside, it was quite cramped, which I understand needing to do in order to seat enough people with how popular the place is. Also, it being the cold season, the patio isn't really an option in the evening. That being said, it felt like we were on a double date with the folks at the table next to us. I felt we couldn't have a semi-private conversation because of the tight nature of the space. Thankfully, there was a wall on the other side of our table. Also, another downside was that one seat for our stretch of tables was actually a church pew. My partner said it was not very comfortable and made it hard to sit up and eat. Ask for a table with two chairs instead! The space itself is the biggest ding for our experience. However, service was the best part of the whole ordeal. Our server Jackson was attentive enough that we never had empty plates--we ordered a dish at a time to get a feel for how big each dish was--but not so attentive that we couldn't maintain a conversation. This earns a tip in my opinion. Lastly, the food was good and came out fairly quickly. We started with the cheese plate; crostini are not my favorite bread product, but they worked well with the fruit spread and the hard cheese. We shared the patatas bravas, which I will be dreaming about recreating for the next month, and my partner had one lamb skewer. He said it was the best skewer of his life, so definitely try that and the potatoes! We then split the vegetarian mushroom paella. It was a little greasy and not quite crispy on the bottom the way I like it, but the combination of flavors was impeccable. I had the sparkling wine and he had the fancy gin and tonic, both of which were quite good. For our dinner with one drink and no dessert, I found the amount we spent to be reasonable. On New Year's Eve, my dad (visiting from out of town) and I were grateful to get a table in Finca's warm and cozy house nestled behind a few shops. The inside was charming and intimate. It would be a perfect spot for a romantic evening. Unbeknownst to us they had a special fixed menu. Not all the dishes were worth mentioning but I thoroughly enjoyed all the wine pairings. Light and on the sweeter side. Each course came out in a well timed manner. Our waitress was great, bubbly and radiated charisma. My Dad was floored by the bacon wrapped dates filled with blue cheese covered with a spiced honey glaze. Smokey and textured to perfection. The patatas bravas, smashed crispy coin sized potatoes were delectable and enhanced tremendously by a garlic aioli. More aioli certainly wouldn't hurt. The braised short rib was unfortunately too well done and not as tender as it could have been. The butternut squash purée was a creative complement for the color and earthy flavor. The seared halibut was fantastic and paired nicely with a refreshing citrus salsa verde. The salsa was so good I could have eaten it alone, in a bowl, with a spoon.
