Recently I had the opportunity to go 'bowling' at Granada. I use the term bowling loosely since I did more 'drinking' than I did bowling. If you like a good Bloody Mary then this is the place for you! And don't get me started on the French fries. Crunchy on the outside and like a mashed potato inside. I know...huh?! This is supposed to be a review for a bowling alley not a pub. Granada reminds me of all the bowling alleys that my parents drug me to when I was a child and they were in leagues. Now that I know they were probably sippin a few beers the number of hours we spent there makes more sense. When it isn't league night or some other event that takes up all the lanes this place can be a lot of fun for families with children of all ages. Oh yeah...the scorekeeping is all electronic so you don't have to try to remember how to add a strike to a spare and a gutter ball. Is that 10, 19, or 29 points? The prices are decent and you can book a lane for a couple hours with six or seven people for about $50. I haven't been there for midnight bowl but it sounds like fun. Imagine, you can bowl, gamble, and enjoy some snacks, and a cold beer while your children are playing video games and buying cheap toys out of the machine, or bouncing their bowling ball off the bumpers. This is a pretty decent bowling alley & if you're in good ol' Livermore, it's the only game in town. Cosmic bowling is a welcome event for those of us that aren't serious bowlers. For Cosmic bowling they turn the lights down low & crank the music up. Since I haven't bowled a score above my own weight since I was a kid, I appreciate that the bar here is cheap. It helps make bowling more entertaining. Sometimes you'll even get a bartender that knows how to make a drink or at least adds a lil extra booze to make up for it. This place is the site of one of my greatest memories. I'll never look at cherries again as just a garnish to a girly drink. I need to go bowling again soon! read more

I love, love, love this place!! I'm not big on bowling though, I find this place incredible fun and charming! I have been here several times with my boyfriend and we always have an incredibly fun time. This place looks as if it has not been updated since the 80s, which is why I love it!! Outside is extremely run down though, the inside is very spacious, extremely clean and very well kept. They have specials going on a lot. We usually do the one on the weekends between 1-3, I believe its $12 a person. But whats the coolest part of it is, is they turn the lights out between those times and neon light up the place!! Its soo cool and totally reminds of the 80's, back when I was kid going to roller skating rinks and similar bowling alleys...Its just brings out the kid in me : ) They also have a little food joint there with some basic food options along that with full bar. Was pretty good overall, priced well. I had mixed feelings about staff, some were really helpful and courteous and others perhaps need to learn the meaning of customer service. Patrons ordering from the bar should not be asked " can't you read?" Granted it's not a 5 star resort, but a little class and respect would be appreciated. Lanes were clean and well kept. Kids loved the arcade. Didn't try the food, would probably return and perhaps try food then. read more

Awful service. The employees don't seem to care or greet any customers that walk in. We only had our masks off for 10 seconds and the lady immediately gave us attitude. Seems like this place didn't want us here. We then left soon after she had a temper tantrum for arguing with us and no business should have that look whatsoever. I also noticed this woman making dirty comments about us as we left. Real mature. 0/10 not planning on coming here anytime soon. :( Highly recommend Earl Anthony's Dublin Bowl instead. read more

Came here to waste a Saturday afternoon and lucked out. Turns out at 3pm they start a deal. 2 hours of bowling with shoes included for only$12 per person which is so awesome. We took a lane on the left half which was great only 3 other lanes being used and mostly adults. Unfortunately they came over quickly thereafter to tell us we had to move so they could oil the lanes. Promptly sticking us in the 'kids' sectio. With 2 birthday parties and all the lanes booked. Also unfortunate was our lane glitched twice. And both times the call for service buttons failed and I had to go to the desk and wait in line for help. read more

Granada Bowl was a shocker! Seedy on the outside clean on the inside. I'll admit, over the last 6ish years we've lived in Livermore, I was always suspect of the Granada Bowl. From the street, the building appears outdated, and occasionally the lot is filled with shady characters who linger near the poker room. Because of this, we have traveled all the way to Dublin just to bowl a game or two; however, today we decided 'let's go to the Granada Bowl...it's only a mile away'. We arrived at 3pm on Sunday. Since I'm being honest here, I'll tell you, the parking lot is as it appears. Outdated. Lots of parking slots, but the pattern an be difficult to navigate. It would be better if the stalls were perpendicular, not slanted. Once inside, i was shocked. Completely updated. The ominous odor of bowling alley grub was not the only thing that made me happy. The interior was completely updated from the carpets, to the lanes, to the automatic score keepers. The prices you ask? Industry standard. $5 a game with $4 shoe rentals or $30 for an hour of family fun which included up 6 people with shoe rentals. This would have been a great deal except we had to chase our youngsters back to our lane while they were exploring the various video games and vending machines. As straight forward as bowling is, customer service was fantastic. The woman at the front counter pre-programmed our lane to set up and take down the bumpers with the respective bowlers. Super friendly. I appreciated the set up within the actual lane area. Each lane had it's own patio-style table which would allow food and beverages. The constant nag at other bowls is the constant 'to and fro' between your lane and the observation deck where you were forced o keep your snacks. Update the parking-lot, and trimming the trees will give a better first impression and will probably pack the business. 4 out of 5 stars...we'll be back. In conclusion, I haven't been to many large bowling venues, but this place has that 'big-bowl' feeling. Bowling, tavern, poker, cafeteria, an more. Great spot for family and friends. read more

This place was terrible my child went to a birthday party and he won some tickets but it got stuck in the machine. After spending 40 dollars, he won the jackpot of 500 tickets. The tickets got stuck in the machine and I asked them to get it out but they said no. Then I asked for a 5 dollar refund but then they also said no. I had my brother and sister with me this weekend. They were so bored hanging out at my house watching me watch tv and catching up on my stories. They wanted to go to the mall - I said Nah, I am at a mall everyday, They wanted to play Life - we did but that was totally lame. Then Monopoly - nooo, takes too long. Scrabble - Nooo, thats for old people. Fine - movie? Ok! No, I don't want to see another naked Will Ferrel. So I get "Well, Livermore is boring!" See, it was raining. They are 16 & 18 yrs old. And their chargers to their cells were at home - HA! So I took them bowling! THANK GOD! They had fun! We all had fun! So Thank You Granada Bowling for reinstating my cool older sister cred! Let's start with a disclaimer of Granada Bowl is one of three things to do in Livermore after the sun goes down, the other two being In N Out (yes it's an activity) and the bars aka High School reunion. I haven't been to Granada Bowl in at least 5 years and was surprised to see they have done quite a bit of renovations since my last visit - new carpet, new layout, and new tables... sadly the music mix at the Cosmic Bowling didn't have a renovation and was somewhat dated. If you are sitting at home saying there isn't anything to do in Livermore, I say get up and go to midnight bowling. It's fun, silly and a super easy way to make fun of your friends. $15 covered shoe rental, the lane, and unlimited bowling during the late night session. They have food and drinks available, not sure of the quality, but it is there. read more

I think we were going to go play golf... But instead we ended up here on a weekday afternoon. My BF and I were the only ones bowling for a while. It was surreal. To have the whole place, to see only your crusty 9 pound bowling ball meander it's was past the little arrows on the lane. "Woo Hoo" He says, as all the pins go tumbling down. All I can do is look over my shoulder to see if the guy working there is watching us. After 10 frames, I decide we need a beer. The Bar-Lounge is nowhere near open yet, so I order from the snack bar. I'm afraid to order anything but Bud, and I order two of them. I mean, who goes around asking what's on the beer menu at 1 in the afternoon?!? Two long-necks appear from the back room, and game two is on. By now, a few others have joined us, be it far far away, on another lane. But I can hear their "woo hoos" too, suddenly, this is a very cool place on a weekday afternoon. I wonder what kind of beer they have? read more

I have edited this review 3 times now! I guess I am getting wishy-washy in my old age!! Or, it could be that this place in undergoing changes and my opinion is accurately reflecting this (yeah, that sounds good). So, as I said in my last version, the regular bartender (Corrine) is the star attraction of this place!! She is on top of drink orders; friendly; and makes a killer drink. My bf and I initially started going here just for this, but over time we became bowlers too. I continue to have mixed reviews for the rest of the staff as I am met with different attitudes depending on what day of the week it is...who's working, etc, etc. I actually avoid going on nights Corrine is not there because the other bartender is a total pain, lazy, cannot remember drink orders, & makes crappy drinks! The other issue is the "manager" working the front desk. His mood can be inviting & friendly at times, yet can easily switch to being sarcastic, rude & utterly annoying other nights. I will say that things have gotten better around Granada Bowl in the last month though- new food cafe & ongoing renovations including new bathrooms. Looks like someone is paying attention to reviews & handling business over there. I recommend going Tue-Sat, paying the bartender Corrine a visit & tipping her well cuz she's a rock star!! In a city that has little to offer it's residents, this is nice to have ;) 2 extra points: 1- FIX THE BAR DOOR! People like to smoke when they drink & the door exiting the bar has been "out of service" for too long! 2- Give that Eric kid working in the alley section more shifts. He is young & eccentric, but friendly & heart-warming. I think he is special & respect business that hire special individuals. read more

This place reminds me of the bowling alley my parents bowled at, and took me to for league nights in the mid-70's back in Ohio. Racks of house balls, pro shop at one end, pool room with bar, separate from the main bowling area, snack bar and video games. The decor may be from the mid-late 90's, and the house balls are a bit beat up, but the alleys, returns, and scoring system is in good shape. For a family outing, you can't beat it. One hour, 3 people, including shoe rental for $30. If you bought it at the per-game price, that would be $42, so it was a good family deal for a Sunday afternoon. At least half of the alleys have bumpers, and if you aren't sure you need them, you probably do. :-) Turning them on made it a lot more fun for my 8-year-old. The dollar-games-on-Sunday deal is over for now, but check their web site as it looks like they often have deals on other days. There were multiple birthday parties while we were there, and it sounded like Radio Disney blasted from the sound system. That loses a half star in my book, but definitely makes it kid-friendly. read more

First the service. B!tches working all the counters with no personality and who genuinely hate their lives it would seem. Second the lanes. The lanes were fine but the bowling deck is so tacky that there is ZERO slide when bowling. Really it's a pretty bad joke. Third the other bowlers. Maybe not their fault but with all the other lanes open the front desk geniuses put "semi-pros" differently next to us. Very rude and snobby and made the evening. I was told by some friends this was a great place to take your teenagers to have a good time enjoy and unwind this was Not the experience we received after being harassed by the general manager and older overweight old lady that was dead set on not letting my daughter and her cousin play bowling if they required the bumper bars on the side because they were taller than the required 52". Please help me understand how does it hurt the bowling alley by being taller than the required measurement she made it a point to lecture us in front of other customers about the rules and regulation and enforcing she's the manager very badd customer service I don't understand how the owners employ someone with this subpar qualifications. read more

Every time I've gone to Granada Bowl with family &/or friends, I have fun! 5*++++! Plus, the Fanucchi family is very giving & supportive to the community. They even give a free game/ day Summer pass to every student in Livermore. They host many fundraising activities towards various causes, especially for Hospice. It's wonderful that Granada is family-owned because the town is changing and the "Bigger" businesses are closing down many of our traditional businesses that have supported Livermore for many, many years! read more

The pros -good beer selection and plenty of lanes. The cons -food is mediocre. We had the fries, chicken strips and buffalo chicken. Equipment and screens can be faulty, resets were often required. Service was not consistent between the front counter, food counter and bar. The person at the food counter was friendlier and more helpful than the other staff. Granda has the potential to be much more and enhance the bowling experience. I want the frills -but they can start with better service and a better menu. read more

I have not been to a bowling alley in ten years or more. I was pleasantly surprised when we had an after work activity here. The place is nice, clean, well stocked. There is a separate area for the bar, and a separate area for kids and their Arcade games. We bowled a few rounds and ordered food. Again the food was actually very good. I had fries, onion rings, salad, and Italian Club Sandwich. It was delicious. The rest of the group had various other items we shared, like nachos, and chili fries. The service was great, fast, and accurate. We ordered a few pitchers of beer, a Shock Top and Stella Artois, a few others but I only remember these. The food came out a little staggered but I wonder if that was my group's fault in ordering. read more

I am dissapointed that they are closing... I truly hope that they don't put more housing in there... do we really need more housing in this market these days??? The problem was the bowling socializing - there was a table for one team and a table for the other team and with that the two shall not mix! What were they thinking when they remodeled a few years ago? And the chairs at the tables... well if your short like me... they snapped back and whaped you in the knees... what a bad design. There's something about bowling that makes me want to put my hand over my heart as I listen to the National Anthem. It's just so American or something (maybe it's not ... I don't know the history of bowling). But you gotta love Granada Bowl. I was sad to learn a week or so ago that this place is closing in another year -- summer '08. It's such an essential piece of Livermore. I'm not good at bowling ... if I get into the 90s, I have to pat myself on the back (and that doesn't usually happen). But it's always fun to go ... even if I do get bored halfway through the second game. I took bowling classes here through Las Positas College and I used to come every now and then for midnight bowling on the weekends. It'd been a while since I stepped inside, but when I went this weekend the bowling alley smell was like a familiar friend. This place may be old, but it's upkept well. Even the old school bathrooms with carvings on the stall walls (stuff like "I (heart) Rocky") are still clean -- and that's what counts. Shoe rental is kinda high at $4, and I wish there were some more pretty-colored balls (pink or purple, man!), but I won't dock any stars for those complaints. My first bowling experience was here back in the 70's and Tom Crane gave me my first real job here as a porter. I'm glad to see it's still open and going strong. While I don't get down to Livermore as often as I like, this would be a great place to go for "Pin Therapy" or any family outing. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

Don't be fooled by the looks of the bowling alley from the outside. It looks older, but the inside is very nice and up to date. The employees are very nice and friendly. The snack bar is nice and has more than just greasy fried food with reasonable prices. The bar area is huge with friendly staff and good prices. If you love video games it has a game area with a lot of games and you can win tickets to turn in after for prizes. Bowling alley has a pro shop that has a great guy running it and will help you with all your needs! Just fix the front doors already. Those doors open so slow that you literally have to stop before you walk in. read more

The staff is extremely unfriendly and makes the experience horrible. Our keyboard entry for our bowling lane did not work. Shoes we're old and very overpriced to rent. When you go for bowling experience you go to have fun with your family, but with rude staff it makes the experience not so much fun. The family I had a fun time here last Friday afternoon. The place is clean and well organized. It's not overly crowded (this was middle of a week day but also during spring break for the local schools). The service was friendly and efficient. We ended up a waiting list but did not have to wait more than fifteen minutes. The four of us played two games of bowling on one lane. We rented shoes along with use of the lane. We all had a very good time. We did not eat food on this trip, but I have tried their pizza before and it it quite good. I prefer this location to the bowling area in Dublin. Granada Bowl has good accomodations for little ones/novices as well with bumpers that can come up and down for a single player. They also had one of those dinosaur ball rollers so a little one could roll it from on top of there. Several families were bolwing with young children. They also have blacklight bowling on the far side of the alley. This place seems like a great location to relax a bit and enjoy a few games of bowling! read more

Terrible Customer Service!!! Called to ask about bowling a couple games. They said come on down and we will get you rolling. So we loaded up and we there within 20 minutes. When we got there they told us someone called in before we got there and reserved the last 5 lanes. What? I told them we were the ones who they told to come on down. They told me I was toast and could wait for 40 minutes to see if they showed up. Then have a lane if the others were a no show. What? If the take reservations why the heck didn't they let me know? The more I come here, the more I like this place. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is fun. I brought my daughter here on a Thursday afternoon to redeem her free game of bowling that she won as part of the summer reading program put on by the local library. The fact that they partner up with the library for these types of "rewards" for their community is great! On this particular day & time, it wasn't busy, we got to play right away, and the gentleman who checked us in was super nice and friendly to my ever so shy 5yr old. We finished our game and headed to the arcade, where you could spend hours in itself! There are plenty of games that keep you busy, and they reward you with "ticket" amounts, but they are loaded on the game card. You can then take the game card to the prize booth and choose a prize based on how many "tickets" you have won. We'll be back here soon for more fun! read more
