Sure, we spent $50 for a full basket of coins... but it was for fun and we ended up donating the 10 stuffies to his school for the prize closet. The claw does pick up the stuffies, but falls before it gets to the drop area. So it's an adrenaline rush. But by the three grab, you'll be able to win it! If you like to gamble, don't come here. LOL! We got sucked into playing the Labubu machine. We grabbed the box a couple times. So close! But that machine was more coins than the regular. And after 5 tries each, we realized we were burning through the coins quick. Definitely coming back with the whole family and deeper pockets... Hoping for different selection of stuffies next time we come, so we aren't trying to win the same ones again.

What a wonderful experience for me and my kids!…read more It's hard to imagine distinguishing arcade-like experiences, but this place is really a cut above. From the moment we stepped in, I could see it was going to be a good experience. We were greeted warmly and the various options for tokens were explained to us. My kids received red pockets as it was Lunar New Year. The space is well-lit and clean. The machines were all in good working order. There are a variety of options to choose from in terms of type and color of stuffed animal to try for and all but the Lobubu one was a single token per play. My kids were having a great time and won a stuffed animal. As we were running out of tokens, the worker came by and gave my kids some tips that resulted in the getting more stuffed animals and an overall better experience. Honestly, I went there with low expectations. It was one of those rainy days where I was looking for any excuse to get the kids out of the house, but between the cleanliness, the kindness, and the overall experience I am convinced that we will be back.

Came here to bowl and it was still early (11:30am) and it was not busy there were only two other lanes taken. The bowling set up is nice, many options on ball size and weights and it is super clean and organized. I had went to the bar and was just standing there waiting for someone to help, and finally someone came and told me to come back later cause he cannot pour. So I went back to bowling, when coming back to bar they said they cant serve until 12pm. Good beer options. The service overall was good, nice friendly young staff. Pricing is on the higher side but man those claw machines are a bust, we kept trying and could not win anything, it seems to barley even grip. It's better off buying the stuff animals at a stand they have in the mall. I am pretty shocked this place has bad reviews because I really enjoyed my time here.

They are a scam now, with $100+ , you will win 1 toy if you are lucky, when I was there I overheard some guest talking to one of the employee, complaining that they have been trying this 1 machine for quiet sometime and the machine still did not give them a win after swiping 8 times! and the employee herself admitted that they were calibrating the machines and most of the machines are not ready for a win even after 8 or 9 swipes and to remind you 1 swipe now is 14 + points.. This place became so greedy. To be honest I gave it a chance , before this review I gave it a shot because I came here DEC, Jan and finally this was the last straw, during dec. I understand maybe they needed the extra revenue that's why they purposely mess up the calibration, so it won't pay out a win after a certain amount of swipes but now it's just ridicules. so please I'm warning people to please to do not come to ROUND 1 SOUTHLAND MALL. try other location maybe they are better. I'm just being honest with this review and like I mentioned, I use to love going here and spending $100+ and win a good amount of toys but now it's not worth it. I won't be coming back to this location for sure and it's a shame because this place use to be fun.

Great addition to downtown Hayward. Perfect for kids - it a smaller version of chuck e cheese…read more I love this place and want it to succeed. Hayward is an underdog city - and this is such a unique space. If I was the mayor of Hayward I would shine a light on this place as I think its an important piece of the city. I live just 2 blocks away and have never gotten any note on my front door or advertisement or coupon. I think that is a shame. If I was head of marketing for this business I would place a flyer under every door mat in a 5 or 10 block radius. This is a missed opportunity for core customers. There are new high rise buildings also popping up - a huge senior building - why not a special flyer offering seniors discounts if they show up for an early bird dinner? Often times you can also tell if kids live in any given home in the neighborhood. There are kiddie pools, tiny shoes left out front, bikes thrown around in the front yard - these homes should be targeted even more aggressively with fliers and some sort of incentive to come in. Another huge problem with this place is the lack of emphasis on ease of 'searchability' of the place. I had lived so close since 2016 and had not known about the place until maybe 2020 during the pandemic. How is that possible? It's all about not knowing this is an arcade. Sector 19 doesn't mean anything to me. It should be called 'Sector 19 Arcade' so that people can find it with a Google or Waze search. The arcade is clean and bright and fun for little kids. Its a safe place too - where parents can hang outside more in the restaurant part and not worry they wandered off - there is only one way out. The arcade needs to be front and center - this is why people come. Pizza House or Susie Qs have no competition in this arena.... so lean in on this. I will say that a Susie Qs has an edge with food quality - so again, more reason to make the family friendly atmosphere the center of attention.

Sorry, I can't remember anyone else's names. Puzzles are both clear and challenging at times, the narrative is very interesting and provokes discussion both during and after, and the prospect of decisions affecting later Chapters is very interesting. One of the most engaging and interesting Escape Rooms I've ever done. Although you might find cheaper Escape Rooms out there, Off the Couch Games offers a more unique experience that I think definitely gives you plenty of entertainment for your dollar. I eagerly await Chapters 4 and on. Only room for improvement I can really say is signage. If you miss the banner and front door on your way into the parking lot, you may get confused, especially at night.

The staff does a really good job introducing you to the game, providing context, and giving an overview of the rules. Additionally, they mentioned that we'd receive a discount off our total based on how quickly we finished, which was extra encouragement for us to get through the game. You immediately get immersed into the game before even walking into the actual room and once you're in Occam's Apartment, it feels even more real. The room itself is well decorated, with nice details scattered around the apartment. I loved every minute of the escape room experience and felt challenged throughout the time we were there. We did ask for hints throughout our time there and the answers were often given through directional questions. What I liked most about the Off the Couch set up is that the escape rooms are all a continuation of a storyline, so it makes you feel invested in the experience. I'm looking forward to the next escape room!

Key Points: - Nostalgic Family Fun…read more- pizza was meh. - "Famous Thick Shake" was huge, but more like soft serve than any milk shake. Came here with the Fam for a birthday party for one of the Little One's school friends. I swear I haven't been to Golfland in probably 20+ years (maybe even closer to 30. That's how old I am). Glad to see it's still up and running and still a lot of fun. Young children are still a bit too small to really enjoy mini golf, or laser tag, but they had a blast running around and playing the video games. It's great to see that some things about this place haven't changed. The host of the party also purchased game cards for everyone, and each card came loaded with 100 credits. Dang! that's a lot. They were only valid for the video games, and none of the ticket or prize games, which honestly makes sense, as buying in bulk probably comes with a big discount, and no arcade wants you racking up a mountain of prizes off a party package. Still, it worked out fine because the little ones had a blast on the video games, and I even snuck in a round of Space Invaders myself ;) Even for Golfland, I can't write a review without mentioning food. Yes, it was party food, but I'll try to be nice: - Pizza: Cheese, chicken, and Veggie. Choices were great. However, the pizza quality was pretty mediocre. Akin to Little Caesar's. I'd say Chuck E. Cheese, but honestly I've never tried theirs so can't really say. - "Famous Thick Shake": I did go rogue a bit and purchased my own order of this shake that they advertise on the posters. First thing you notice? The size. It's huge! They offer a small and a large, but the "large" is about three times bigger for just $1 more. And that's how they get you to buy the large. At $9 vs. $8, of course you wouldn't order a small! The "shake" is really more like soft serve ice cream in a cup, almost like a McFlurry. I wouldn't try sucking it up through a straw though. That's futile. You get to choose three toppings. I went with two: cookie dough and coconut, which kind of makes a coconut chocolate chip cookie? It was pretty good, though way too much for one person. The Mrs., The Little One, and I together couldn't even finish it. Of note: the receipt labeled it as an "IG Thick Shake," which made me curious. I assumed IG meant instagram. So I hopped onto Instagram and searched "Golfland Thick Shake" to see what the hype was about. Let's just say the search results ended up being NSFW. Not what I was expecting. Overall, Golfland is still a solid spot for birthdays, family fun, and nostalgia. The food isn't why you come, but the golf, games, and sweet treats definitely make it worth the trip.

Checking in was fine, except I was asked to fill out a paper version of something I already filled out online. I had pre-ordered shirts for us, and they had my son's no problem. My shirt couldn't be found, and after having me wait for 30 minutes while they organized the shirt pile I had to demand one of the "same day sale" shirts because they were about to sell out and no one else thought of that solution. We finally get into the event and its dark. Its hot. We aren't allowed any outside drinks, not even water. Every game that wasn't broken (a lot were) seemed to have a line, and no one was in a hurry to let others play. There was no communication that there was a 2nd room with driving/flying games, we stumbled on that ourselves. We gave it 4 hours, and at the end we just left. I was told by staff that they weren't expecting this many people so they were completely in chaos. It really showed.

They work hard to bring it all together, but this year may very well be my last…read more I consider there to be three major Pinball Tournaments in Northern California. They are held at California Extreme in Santa Clara, Golden Gate Pinball Festival in Lodi and Pin-a-Go-Go in Dixon. California Extreme is not exclusive with Pinball Machines. There are also tons of arcade games for those who enjoy them. We have enjoyed attending these events whenever we're able to. In the past, our work schedules often got in the way. Now that we're retired, our vacation schedules often cause conflicts. The people who run this event have always done a tremendous job of getting others to bring their beloved machines, set on free play, for the masses to play. In return, they get free admission. A substantial number of volunteers are also needed to load-in, load-out, wipe down, perform minor repairs, scorekeepers, registration, check-in, etc., etc. We attend to see Pinball Machines that we've never seen before, to play with machines that are hard to find, to play new machines, but mostly to play in the tournament. Yes, there are cash purses and trophies or plaques to be one. Bragging rights galore! But for players at my level, it's mostly about WPPR Points that affect your International Flipper Pinball Association Ranking. As I write this review, I am 8640 out of 103,576 players in the world. Does it mean anything? Only to my ego. At one time, I was sub-3000. I simply don't play in enough tournaments to keep my ranking. This year's tournament entry fee was $2 per game. That is not particularly expensive BUT there was no limit to the number of entries that one could purchase. This changes that tournament of skill and luck to one of skill, luck and DEEP POCKETS. In my opinion, there should be a single buy-in. Everyone plays the same number of games on the games that are available. Yes, this will reduce the prize money but so what? Whatever happens, happens. If you have a great day, congratulations. If you have a lousy day, better luck next year. But under the unlimited buy-in, you just keep putting out money until you have a few good games to tie together for your final score. What? The tournaments almost over but you're in 11th place and only the first 10 places are in the money. Well, play some more and hope to improve your score and win! Anyway, without the tournament to play in, I will either only attend California Extreme one day only or skip it all together moving forward. Additionally, this year, for the first time, the Hyatt is now charging $40 to park overnight. This was either not disclosed at the time of booking or I somehow missed it. When I complained, it was discounted $20 because I was staying there for California Extreme and another $10 because I'm a Hyatt member. I was told that, "all the other area hotels are charging more for parking and the Hyatt is just trying to catch up." There was a 49ers exhibition game on Saturday, August 19th, and parking was expected to be at a premium and traffic would be a zoo. To counter that, we arrived way early to get a space. We arrived at 8:30 for a 10:00 opening. Because we left the house so early, we didn't have time to eat breakfast, but we had plenty of down time in the hotel (check-in was at 3:00pm), so we opted for breakfast in the hotel (see our review for Evolution). Breakfast Buffet at $28 per person vs Continental Breakfast at $22 per person. So, while California Extreme is still lots of fun, between the costs and the crowds and a Deep Pocket Tournament, it may be time for us to move on.
