Had our wedding at Nella Terra Cellars on September 21st and it was the best choice we made when venue touring and was the perfect place for our wedding! We booked Nella Terra over a year in advance and worked with Kendall and Whitney. They were both amazing to work with and answered my many questions, gave me multiple quotes so I can see how many guests I can have to work with my budget and they even sent us a bottle of wine when we were getting closer to the date! The team was very very patient and worked with me with everything I was envisioning to happen. Wedding day was amazing, guests complimented the beauty of the hidden gem , the bar tending services, our wonderful onsite shuttle driver for family members who had trouble walking down the stairs and especially the welcoming champagne. It was truly a magical experience for everyone at the wedding. Everyone had the same comment of "when driving to the venue, it was confusing as if you're in the middle of no where , but once you make that left turn going to the parking lot you are in awe and excited to go down the stairs". As for the wedding party, the bridal cottage was a great area for the girls to hang out, take pictures and drink champagne. I loved how there was a secluded bathroom there too for the awkward dress holding time when needing to use the restroom - tons of space if you have a long train dress!. The groomsmen enjoyed the bocce ball court area as well and got to play. Walking around Nella Terra alone just makes you feel like you're far away and in a magical place. Everything catches your eye from the vineyard , the stairs, the water fall, palm trees and even the beautiful white tent for reception. You feel and see the love and beauty the place holds because of its up-keeping and how the team there is beyond welcoming to everyone! This was a lot of firsts. First time as the plus one, first winery, first only Indian food wedding. Anyways, my better half received a wedding invitation and off to California we went for the weekend. The wedding itself was held at the gorgeous Nella Terra Cellars located in the mountains of Sunol. The wedding venue at Nella Terra Cellars offers space for a small to medium sized reception and wedding, with a picturesque water feature, a stairway through the winery, a babbling brook, multiple foot bridges, an assortment of flowers, a waterfall, a huge "Love" sign and a large tree strung up with led lights overlooking the large pond. Plenty of areas to get gorgeous photos but without being tacky in a way that scream "we did this for likes on Instagram." There's also a large tiled space for a party tent, along with space for vendors and portable bathrooms, along with fire pits, and sofas. It is an active cattle ranch with at least one llama. The location can be fairly warm during the afternoon in early May as shade can be hard to find and then cools down dramatically once the sun sets. Parking is extensive in the upper lots. As for nearby hotels, there are a bunch in Fremont which is about a 20 to 25 minute drive from the location. read more

We had our wedding at Nella Terra Cellars in Sunol this May, and it was truly everything we dreamed of and more. From start to finish, the entire experience was seamless, joyful, and so well-executed thanks to the incredible team that helped bring it all together. Kendall and Whitney from Nella Terra were so responsive and kind throughout the planning process. They answered every question, big or small, and made us feel confident and supported every step of the way. The venue itself is breathtaking--rolling vineyards, lush greenery, and in May, the weather was absolutely perfect. It felt like something out of a fairytale. From the beautiful landscaping to the reception tent, you can tell how much intention went into making this venue what it is today. Our wedding day was no exception to that as well. Bethany and the Nella Terra staff all were so kind and helpful in executing our vision on the day of and answering all of our questions and concerns prior to. I can't thank and recommend Nella Terra enough. All of our friends and family still rave about the venue and our wedding day. Nella Terra helped host my June wedding and I could not be happier choosing them for the big day. My husband is not a man of many words and he even voiced that he was extremely happy with our choice as well! From initial inquiry to the day of, Nella Terra was on top of everything. Their required vendor for wedding planning (Simply Lovely) and catering (On the Vine) made the coordination of all the details seamless. They are chosen for great reason and the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies perfectly. All I had to do on my wedding day was show up and enjoy the day. That's literally it! Every detail large and small was planned before and they executed perfectly on the day of, I never worried or stressed about the details. The venue is gorgeous if you are wanting an outdoor wedding. So many unique areas to take pictures from. We did our first look at the botanical garden, family portraits under the staircase surrounded by vineyards, and then had cocktail area right outside the reception area which is under a beautifully prepared white tent. I have lived in the Bay Area my whole life and had no idea this gem of a venue existed. We got so many complements from guest about how beautiful and elegant the venue felt. 2022 Estate Sauvignon Blanc - light and fruity with a buttery finish like a Chardonnay 2012 Estate Viognier - Floral and dry with a slight butter finish 2020 Estate Pinot Noir Rose - A lighter version of Pinot Noir. Soft and fruity with a crisp dry finish. 2021 Gold Medal Winner 2021 Estate Pinot Noir - Soft and fruity berry, medium body, and a hint of pepper. Dryer finish than most Pinot Noirs. At $48/bottle I feel it was a bit overpriced for an ok Pinot. In my opinion price should be $35. 2021 Estate Rubertino Red Blend - 50 Zinfandel and 50 Petite Syrah. Medium body, dry wine, slightly acidic, spicy. Table wine would be good with Italian pasta dishes, pizza, Asian and hearty beef comfort food. Would not recommend with lean beef like a filet or NY Strip but could be good with a Ribeye or a sirloin. $46/bottle for a table blend seemed overpriced to me. In my opinion price should be $32/bottle. Good service, seating area with shade, and view of the Viognier vineyard. There was a nice breeze coming over the mountain for a perfect summer day with a glass of wine. Recommended to come on a Sunday afternoon at about 2pm for less crowds. And if they have a wedding finishing up you get music in the background for your tasting. Tasting fee $25 waived if purchasing over $125 in wine. read more

Our niece and her fiance got married here this past weekend and it's beautiful and intimate and met their needs for a safe wedding, as the wedding ceremony and cocktails was outside and the dinner was in the large white tent with air coming through. It was very relaxing and pleasant. Bathrooms are located in the trailer at the back of the tent and are clean, but alittle dark inside the bathrooms. The floor seems to be slightly tilted as I felt like I was on a cruise ship. There was an open bar and banquet tables were beautifully decorated. The bride and her father came down the beautiful staircase that leads to the venue. Some of us went down the stairs to get to the venue, but if you aren't mobile, there is a shuttle that can take you down to the venue. It was a very sunny and hot day (90's) at 5 pm during the ceremony so bring a hat and sunglasses! The food was a delicious buffet that had servers at the buffet line. The only con I see is the distance as it is a long drive from Oakland to Sunol and the winery is not near the freeway but a long drive on a two lane road that seemed endless. Nella Terra Cellars was the perfect venue for our dream wedding. It is a little gem tucked away in Sunol and looks like it is right out of a fairytale- the grand stair case makes for a beautiful grand entrance, the pergola is the perfect backdrop for the ceremony, the garden is so well maintained with a bridge that is picture perfect for a first look, and the tent is so dreamy. In addition, the bridal cottage is newly renovated and a spacious area (with AC) to prepare for the wedding festivities. There is also a shuttle that takes the bridal party and guests from the parking lot to the ceremony spot which is a nice perk. We worked with Bella and she is such a pleasure to work with throughout the process; she is responsive to emails and genuinely wants to make your wedding day so special. The day of the wedding, Cre helped to ensure everything ran smoothly, and it sure did! We cannot recommend this venue enough and it was everything we were looking for and more. Review for wine tasting and an informal, self guided tour of the grounds. The wine tasting consisted of both whites and reds. It was all prepaid when you make the reservation. Just an FYI. I'm not sure if they take walk-in wine tastings. I really enjoyed our experience at the winery. I liked that the winemaker gave us the story behind each wine. It was different than other wine tastings in that he didn't tell use the flavor notes that we should taste. I appreciated that so I could try and explore the flavors on my own. The property is absolutely gorgeous. It's up in the hills so the view of the mountains is stunning. The event area is also gorgeous and well thought out. For those that are looking at wedding spaces, the ceremony area is so beautiful with a variety of options for backdrops. The cocktail hour area is cool with some lounge areas and area for games. We had made online reservations 3 days before our Saturday reservation at 2:45pm. We decided to add on 2 charcuterie boxes with crackers for $25 each. We didn't know the portion size of 1 box was actually good enough for 4 people as a snack. We didn't completely finish the 1st box either so we took leftovers and the other box home. The charcuterie box was nicely presented. Tasting fee was $25 for 5 wines. We loved almost all the wines we tried. Especially Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot noir and the Red Blend. The only staff who worked that day was friendly. A little too friendly when he talked really long with another couple towards the end and a couple of wedding guests left after waiting a while without being helped to get a drink. We had really bad wines at Elliston Vineyards before coming here the same day, which is also in located in Sunol. Glad we ended with delicious wines. 1 shared restroom. There were 1-2 wasps that kept trying to bother us since we got wine and food. No outside food or alcohol allowed. Online Sales are final and non refundable. It was 93 degrees but it was bareable with the umbrella shade and breeze. read more

We started planning our wedding after the pandemic had already started. Some key elements for us included having an outdoor venue, having an intimate wedding option as a plan B (if needed back when we were planning Alameda County had a lot of restrictions), while finding a beautiful place that we wanted to get married at. Nella Terra was already a venue on our list we had attended a wedding here before in 2019 and loved it. We initially worked with Sharde from Nella Terra and then the second half of our planning worked with Isabella (Bella). Bella was wonderful she was always very responsive and came up with ideas when I panicked about 92 degree weather on our wedding day (a heat wave in October). Everything turned out perfect while the ceremony was warm guests said it didnt feel like 90 (we took our bridal photos at peak heat but luckily did it in the shade by the garden so it was never unbearable). By cocktail and reception it had cooled down but was never too cold (another concern we had with our outdoor reception would the tent be too cold). We kept the tent panels up the whole time and it was fine! There are so many things we love about this venue from the pergola surrounded by the big wispy trees, the large staircase amidst the cascading vineyard, the small walking bridge with tropical plants and a mini waterfall in the back garden. The cocktail patio with the big LOVE sign, views of the hills, and the spacious tent (market lights come inside but we added draping to bring it together). The venue also had furniture and accessories we were able to use like wine barrels, large baskets, etc. There are vendors we had to use booking this venue but we loved them all especially Lindsay from Simply Lovely who was our coordinator and was key in making sure everything went smoothly (given how spaced out the venue was this was a necessity), On The Vine Catering (they did a great job accommodating our vegan guests even made a small amount of vegan Mac and cheese for our Mac and cheese bar), and Fantasy Sound. Since they all had experience with the venue they were able to guide us through our decision making with helpful tips when needed. Overall our wedding was perfect and I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a venue near the Bay Area that is outdoor friendly. read more

Went to a wedding here recently and it was an absolutely gorgeous venue. The wedding was outside and was so pretty to see the views of the vineyard as the beautiful bride and her parents walked down the steps for the vows. They used tiny unobtrusive microphones so that everybody even in the back could hear. As a backdrop, there was an idyllic pond and water feature behind where the wedding took place. A pretty bridge to the right to walk across. After the ceremony, the guests went up to the terrace for delicious appetizers and champagne while the family was getting photos taken. Next we were led inside a very spacious tent romantically lit with plenty of room for dining and dancing. Dinner was absolutely delicious and everything looked so elegant. There was a fire pit outside after it got dark, too. It was one of the most gorgeous and fun weddings we have been, too. Nella Terra enhanced that evening. Nella Terra is a beautiful venue that we and our guests really enjoyed, especially the out of town visitors. The staircase, water features, and vineyards (and cows and llama!) make for a memorable experience. The tent helps navigate unpredictable weather. If you are considering this venue, do note that certain choices will be a bit limited - for example, your default hours onsite don't start until 3 pm, and you have to choose a DJ from a short list of options. But these constraints are all stated very clearly throughout the process. All being said, we had a great experience. We were able to bring in some outside vendors and personal touches to make the wedding feel like ours. The team that runs Nella Terra communicates well and just fantastic to work with. The wedding venue is stunning and holds 150+ people. Or wedding day was even better than we imagined! When we first stepped onto the property we were just in awe with how beautiful it was. Kendall gave us a tour and we had plenty of questions that she was more than happy to answer. Our main question was the best month to get married which she told us June. So we chose June 17th, 2023. During June the grapevines are full of color that coexists with the beautiful golden hills that surrounds the property. This gives you the best of both worlds for amazing photo opportunities. The ceremony area is magical with tons of seats to fit a large party. It has a pergola that can be filled with flowers and has a beautiful pond and garden in the background. The Grooms getting ready area has a fun bocci court and shed that was filled with glasses and champagne while the Brides get a beautiful cottage that was freshly remodeled with beautiful décor. The brides cottage has a kitchen, huge bathroom and getting ready room. They have a huge tent for the reception which was a perfect choice during covid. The tent can be decorated with drapery which makes the whole place come together and would highly recommend. The venue provides a shuttle that goes around the property from and to the parking lot to the ceremony/reception area which was a huge benefit for our grandparents and guests with less mobility. Kendall, The fact that you and your small family owned business held on to ALL of our money ALL summer long, even months after our wedding date had already passed in May 2020 is what made me feel resentment and bitterness towards your company. We've had phone calls and e-mail exchanges with you and Whitney, only to hear the same thing you just responded here on Yelp. Brian and I felt alone until one of the other couples reached out to us. And I'm so glad they did. Together we were able to go to ABC7 News. Nella Terra caused us so much unnecessary heartache and stress for months during this pandemic. All we wanted was to reschedule to another Saturday in 2021 without being charged a new $9,000 deposit fee when your own contract stated that if an Act of God were to occur, Nella Terra would reschedule the event pending availability at no additional cost. Your family owned business held on to all our money, therefore I couldn't reschedule ANYWHERE or continue my wedding plans. For months, I held off my wedding. For months, I could've rescheduled somewhere else for next Summer. Can you just imagine how I felt? I don't want another bride to feel this way with Nella Terra. This venue is no doubt a beautiful one... That's the only thing I'm not denying. The grand staircase is just beautiful. But Nella Terra's business ethics, however, is questionable. We found Nella Terra Cellars on Theknot back in 2019 for our original wedding date which got cancelled due to covid. Whitney was compassionate, fair and kind, accommodating to our changes! Since we lived in Hong Kong at the time it was difficult to arrange weddings with the time difference but Whitney was very accommodating! The venue is AMAZING! All our guest made comments about how lovely, beautiful and spacious the venue is. Usually at a vineyard wedding you don't get to see the grapes as it's out of sights to guests but at Nella Terra Cellars it was right there! read more
