So I have very mixed feelings about this place. Some things are incredible. Some things are not so great. I am a member of the "Legends" club. So that to me means it's top of the line membership as indicated by their pricing and what we get. So I feel I should get top notch deals, pricing and service. Turns out, we get the same shaft as the lower club members. Starting with the good, the location is pristine. Nice area with lots of room for kids and adults to mingle and play. The wine is also pretty darn good. Of course there are some better than others but I enjoy most of their wine. The service is also for the most part very good. The waitstaff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. Their food is also pretty darn good. It's not incredible, and a bit overpriced but it's fine enough. Their wine pricing is also fair (but of course with the highest membership we get the biggest discount). My biggest complaints would be the price gouging and lack of communication. We made arrangements on a Friday to show Sunday with 6 and asked for the "VIP space upgrade to lounge or upstairs Vista Patio Lounge (when available)". They said no problem. When we showed on Sunday they said it was closed with no notice. Just a sorry. OK whatever. We sit inside (6 people and 2 children) and they charge for 2 children a "non drinker" charge of $10 ($5 each). A head count charge for non-drinkers? For children? Total nonsense! I am spending over $1,200 a year here and you want to gouge me for someone's kids? Their tastings are $40 a pop which is really crazy. Our price is waived on this so that's fine but if you are not a member you are paying a lot for a little. The wines do take a bit of time to come and they don't give you a lot. Kind of a bummer waiting for the taste. We ended up with 4 appetizers (sliders $24, Charcuterie $25, Tater Tots $12 and Pretzel Bites with Grilled Sausage $16) 2 bottles of wine and $4.25 for water and the bill was over $250. Oh and top that off, with 6 people, they charge a mandatory 20% on the bill for a tip and are basing that with taxes (as the button default), not the actual sub-total so they are actually getting about 23%. All in all, I am not sure that the cost is worth what you get. I mean we are giving them a lot of money just to be members and then having to pay more and more for anything else that really should be included (like water and kids) makes this place just a bit too over-rated for me. Probably end my club membership in the fall and go someplace that doesn't place money first. read more

We were invited to join for some wine tasting. It was the first time trying wine in Livermore. We typically go to Napa and Lodi. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the check-in staff, and we were given a glass of white wine, which was refreshing. I was pleasantly surprised to see the beautiful grounds. They have plenty of patio seating with umbrellas, grass area for kids to run around in, an inside space in their barn, looking building. I say that loosely because they had Chandelier's hanging from the inside. They have tasting areas inside of the barn as well as a space in their upstairs area which looked more private. They also have an upstairs terrace patio with plenty of seating and bathrooms nearby. The wines were refreshing and light. I typically go for Red, but the white was very crisp and refreshing for a hot day. They offer food to order. The food was really good. We had the sliders, the charcuterie with the tots, and the pretzel bites. The sliders were juicy and so flavorful. Must try them. I feel like the service lacked a bit because there were times when we had to go up and look for our server to order another bottle or ask for a menu. I wasn't as bothered with it because I'm sure she was really busy, but I noticed other people looked frustrated. read more

Very beautiful winery. The truffle tots are nice to munch on and I saw other peoples food looked good. Wine was good -- came for a tasting on a friend's membership. Our waitress Vanessa was efficient and knowledgeable. Sometimes tastings can drag on too long, but this was a good time. Outdoor seating is gorgeous. Indoor is nice too. They also have an upstairs tasting room. I am not a big wine drinker myself but will totally come back on a friend's membership, or would consider my own if I liked wine that much. After the Camp Yelp event and getting introduced to Livermore wineries, I stumbled upon his place. This is a smaller winery than Concannon and Wente with a cute little outside patio and a nice sized barn for hot days. Our wine server was great and informative, she did not make us wait for our next pour, she was attentive and sweet. This winery is actually owned by Wente but they have their own grapes that they use here. The reds are not as robust and dry, they are lighter and easier to drink. This is usually my preference so I fell in love with many of their reds. We got ourself a cheese plate to pair with the wines and it was perfect. Overall it was great. I love that they have a list activities/experiences throughout the year. Also if you are a member here, you can get free wine tasting in Wente (in certain months, ours was in September) and you have access to Wente events as well. read more

I've been here a handful of times and majority of those I've had a great experience. Food is delicious, must get the tots! The venue is beautiful and dog friendly. They even brought out heat lamps when it got chilly. And the wine is also great. Service wise, we've had mostly hits and just one miss in between, but most recently, we had the best time with Rob. He treated my guests with the absolute care and shared all his knowledge with us without seeming rushed (even though I know he's busy). I now remember why I loved Murrieta's. Murrieta's Well offers plenty of spacious seating and a charming atmosphere, especially inside the old concrete barrel room. The décor strikes a great balance between historic character and relaxed wine country comfort. Even on a rainy day, there was no shortage of inviting indoor seating, and it's easy to see how the outdoor areas would shine during summer and fall evenings. Lynette, our hostess, made the experience stand out. She was courteous, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the winery's history. Her insights added depth to the tasting rather than feeling scripted, which made it far more engaging. We opted for the white wine tasting and ordered the margarita flatbread. The flatbread itself was solid--good sauce, fresh tomatoes, and a balanced amount of cheese. However, the pesto was overdone. It was oily and layered heavily over what was already a complete dish. About 30% of that amount, dotted instead of spread thickly, would have elevated it rather than weighed it down. As for the wines, Lynette brought out a special Sauvignon Blanc that was 100% stainless steel--light, fruit-forward, crisp, and refreshing. That was the highlight. The rest of the lineup--Rosé, The Whip, Blanc de Blanc, and the estate Sauvignon Blanc--were all pleasant, easy-drinking table whites. Good, dependable wines, but nothing particularly memorable. The grounds are beautiful and well laid out, with multiple seating areas inside and out. It's easy to picture a wedding reception flowing seamlessly while the tasting room remains open. Overall, Murrieta's Well delivers a polished, enjoyable experience with strong hospitality and a lovely setting. The wines are solid, and with a few small tweaks to the food execution, the experience would move from good to exceptional. read more

Just beautiful property, super friendly staff, and lovely wines. I always enjoy myself when I come, but I seem to have a better time at other wineries. I think the prices are a bit high for what you get. And while the scenery is beautiful, there are so many other wineries in Livermore that deliver just as a wonderful experience. Murrieta's Well Winery is undeniably a beautiful venue. The scenic views, charming architecture, and peaceful setting make it a wonderful spot for a relaxed afternoon or special event. The ambiance is one of the highlights - elegant yet laid-back, with a rustic sophistication that really sets the mood. That said, the experience was somewhat let down by the service and the wine itself. The staff, while polite, was very inattentive, resulting in slow service and a lack of attentiveness throughout the visit. It took quite a while to get our tastings, and follow-up was sparse. As for the wines, they were decent but nothing particularly memorable. A few had potential, but overall the selection felt underwhelming given the reputation and setting of the winery. The tasting was $40 with only 4 wines. The first pour was a Rose which was terrible. It had such a harsh bitterness that made it unbearable. We just poured it out. The 2nd pour was called a zarzuela. It was dry with high tannins and very earthy and grainy feeling. It wasn't a pleasant wine either. I ended up pouring mine out too. Merlot was the 3rd pour which was better but it was a very heavy bodied merlot and more like a cabernet than a merlot. Last pour was a cabernet sauvignon which was probably the only decent wine of the tasting. It had good body and balance. Smooth texture and medium sweetness. Overall was a decent wine. If you're looking for a picturesque spot to unwind or host an event, Murrieta's Well delivers on atmosphere. But if you're there primarily for a top-tier wine tasting experience and excellent service, you might find it falls a bit short. read more

I had reservations for two on July 4, 2025, the winery was busy. The tasting menu offered 4 red wines for $40, as well as a splash of their white wine upon checking in to be seated. My friend and I were surprised by only 4 red wines being offered, especially since we prefer white and sparkling wine. Our server was kind, hospitable, and understanding in changing our minds. The property is lovely and their staff considerate and friendly. I wasn't feeling it and only having reds was a turn off, our server did offer some white wines she could serve us. I came to this beautiful winery completely blind on what to expect. It was my first time, and coming in alone, I was very nervous. But it turned out to be a wonderful experience! I've visited Murrieta's Well twice: once with friends (we sat inside) and once with family (we sat outside). This was my first time experiencing a winery with a membership, and overall, it was a really nice experience. The staff were all incredibly kind and attentive, always making sure our glasses were full. The food is pretty good, though I do wish the cheese and charcuterie board came with more crackers or at least offered a refill option for something crunchy to balance everything out. How have I never been to Murrieta's Well?! Truly a beautiful winery. It's also so spacious. There's tons of seating outside around their lawn. Then there's even more seating inside the main barn area. Then there's even MORE seating upstairs. But on a hot livermore day, you definitely want to be inside. My friends and I visited for a tasting on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy (no surprise!). Luckily we booked a reservation online ahead of time so our group of 7 was seated immediately. We were also welcomed with a welcome wine (I wish I remembered what it was - def one of my favorites). I was grateful that we were able to order different things at our table, aka we didn't all need to do the wine tasting. Half the table did the wine tasting flight while the other half of us got glasses. The seated tasting flight is $40 per person, so a little on the higher end in comparison to other wineries in the area. I ended up getting a glass of their dry orange muscat. I wasn't sure what to expect with this, just hoped it tasted like orange since that's usually my favorite. Sure enough, it had light hints of orange and I found it refreshing! My other tablemates also got their frose which was perfect for the hot day. I appreciate that they also offer food here. My favorite was their truffle tater tots ($10). I know tots are tots but these were really good!! Plus the lemon aioli it came with was perfect. I could take home a bottle of that. Hot tip: Every Thursday in September 2025, they're offering a complimentary order of truffle tater tots for two with the purchase of two tasting flights. We also got the cheese and charcuterie ($25 - good but expensive for the amount) and crispy brussels sprouts ($10). Service was great as well. Everything came out quickly and our glasses were never empty for long. Definitely recommend stopping here on a tasting tour (or you could even have it be your one and only stop)! read more

Quality/Quantity - 5 stars. We always get the flight (free for members and their guest), $40 for non members; see menu picture. No more food, well a charcuterie plate if you are interested. We just had lunch, so no thanks. I really miss your flatbread. Atmosphere - Reservations and walk-ins now available again. Indoor/outdoor seating - No one in the heated outside patio. Which is my preference, but I did not want the employees to get cold just because of me. They also used to host many events: weddings, corporate events, etc. It is the holidays now, so I am sure they are hosting many events. Service - 5 stars. Service is always good. I used to come here so often that the team would remember me, but with my travels, I rarely visit now. They are back to greeting guests that walk onto the property with a glass of wine. Typical reservations are 90 minutes. We were here for over 2 hours catching up, and never felt pressured to leave. Actually, they gave us additional samples of open bottles. Price - Complimentary today due to the membership. When they open the kitchen again, we can/will spend more $$$$. Owner Suggestion - Congrats on your success since 1884. 1940 - Wente Family purchased, and the 5th generation Wente's still currently owns and manages this business. All I want for Christmas is a holiday party at this venue! I made a reservation for a seated tasting for two with my friend on a Saturday at noon. It has been nonstop rain the week prior, so we hoped they would have a cozy interior space for the tasting (as I had only ever been seated on their outdoor terrace for tastings in previous visits). Not only did they transform to accommodate tastings, but the holiday decorations were absolutely magical! We were blown away with how festive and cozy they were able to make the lofty space. For a tasting, you select your preferred 5 wines and they bring you a small pour of each. My favorite pours were the Tempranillo and Zarzuela - both of which featured notes of dark berries, earth and a hint of baking spices, but were surprisingly light for the deep ruby colored reds! I will definitely return, the ambience and quality wines make Murrieta's Well a cornerstone of Livermore Valley wineries. read more

We went on a Friday at 2pm. Our first impression was that staff was pre-occupied and uninterested in our presence. We soon discovered the reason. A wedding was scheduled for a bit after 4pm, and they were more concerned with setting up for that occasion than attending the few wine tasting reservations they had. However the specific guy attending us was pleasant and relatively attentive, and watching the wedding set up preparations was somewhat entertaining tho not what we had imagined for a relaxed tasting. They kept rolling equipment right by our table, quite often bumping our chairs as they passed by. At 4:15pm they hustled us out, didn't even ask if we wanted to buy some bottles. We knew our tasting needed to conclude at that time but talk about the hard boot. The location is pretty and does have potential for a relaxing tasting, but I'd definitely verify if they have a wedding scheduled before you go--that's if you can get them to pick up the phone cuz we had no luck with that. This venue is a sister to the Wente brand, so the wine is fine. It's just more of their wedding venue location. I wish I had understood that better beforehand. Lovely springtime tasting here- they pass the vibe check in a big way - the kids loved the grassy area and had a ton of fun counting tadpoles in the pond. Recently did the sunset hike with the hubby and had so much fun! The hike was relatively easy, although would def. Recommend wearing sneakers due to dirt roads, gravel, etc. We started off at the main barn and waited as everyone made their selection for their bottle. The guide then started us off together - walking through the vineyards and seeing the vines and actual grapes was neat. Our guide was also very informative and gave us time to ask questions as well as take pictures, and simply enjoy the view. Once we got to the top there were seats set up with the bottle you selected + individual charcuterie picnic sets. It was a beautiful vibe, as we sipped away, mingled, and watched the sunset. Since my previous visit I was invited back to Murrieta wells winery and had the opportunity to enjoy the terroir to table and wine experience with a guest. Started off in the vineyard learning from Suzie about the different types of grapes and vines and how that affects the flavors of the wine. We start off tasting a variety of the vineyards most popular wines 2024 Rose. Then we were seated in terrace, which was shared; and given four course meal with specific wine pairings and were explained to what meals to us as we went. Food was great and I especially liked the lemon garlic shrimp course paired with the 2018 Blanc de Blanc. The seating was super comfy and I had a great time enjoying great food, great wine, and great conversation with the other guest of the event. I am incredibly thankful being invited to take part in terrior to table event. Suzie was such a gracious host and always made sure that everyone in the event was well taken care of. I would highly recommend anyone interested in wine tasting in Livermore to come to Murrieta wells winery; specifically the terror to wine experience! read more

We enjoyed six pours that were catered to our group's interests and also ordered the cheese and charcuterie board, artichoke flatbread, and Brussels sprouts. The wine bottles were fitted with special stoppers so each pour was exactly the same and was a bit more than an ounce so we didn't benefit from any heavy pours. Our server was attentive and quite funny in addition to being very knowledgeable about the history and folklore of Livermore wines. I'm not too familiar with wine tasting prices (this was $40/person) but the food was on the expensive side. Overall we enjoyed our experience with the wine, food and staff! read more

The service here is always great but we are so disappointed about the food. The kitchen has been closed since April with no exact date to reopen so we will be canceling our membership. My wife and I have been members for over a year and a half and absolutely love this place. We have been to many wineries in the Livermore Valley, and without a doubt, they have the best ambience, wine, and staff of all the places we've been to. We are both retired and enjoy going there at least once a week. Within the last month or so they started offering a great menu, which is available six days a week (they are closed on Wednesdays). I recently photographed a wedding here. Venue is gorgeous, so picturesque! The only con I have is that they don't stop the tastings early for weddings. Which puts the ceremony right before sunset and then you are rushing to get sunset photos post ceremony. And if you get married when the sun sets at 5, you are basically having your ceremony and all portraits in the dark. But they prioritize tastings over the weddings, so I understand why they don't close it down. read more

Went there the other day w a party of 4 and it was great. Tried to plan to have a casual tasting of 12-16 people come and enjoy tasting and food and it's as if I was asking to rent the whole property. I started six weeks earlier and trying to plan the day. I was shuffled around multiple times by many different people in order to make this reservation. I emailed the manager, Cory multiple times who never got back to me. Went to the winery to set the reservation and they told me I needed approval and that somebody would get back to me, whom never did. My friend who is a wine club member could not even get approval to have 3 to 4 tables, because she waited, what was supposed to be three days, over a week until she finally called again and they still hadn't given her the approval. Then someone very nice finally told us it would be $40/head on top of what we are paying for wine and food, plus gratuity to have a larger group. I was literally trying to give them my business and it was so difficult and such a hassle that they completely lost my business. A word of advice from one business owner to another, when people are trying to give you their money make it as easy as possible to get it. At the bare minimum call the back. read more

I can't say enough good things about Murrieta's Well! I've been here many times for wine tasting, as well as attended a wedding here earlier this year (which was absolutely fabulous!) and now hosted our company holiday party here. We decided to host our company holiday party here and it was perfect! Everyone we worked with, from Dominique the catering manager to Brandon the event captain were all wonderful! The venue its self was absolutely gorgeous and decorated beautifully (and tastefully) for the holidays. We didn't have to bring in any additional decorations. The food was fantastic, the apps and mains were all wonderful (also the cookies at the dessert station were incredible!!!) It's actually a 3.5, but no half star options are available. Tbh we visited Murrieta's Well after a visit to Wente Vineyards, and I discovered I like the wines at Wente a lot more. That said, the location is lovely and the outdoor patio is great on a pleasant day when it's not too hot. The server was on her own the day we visited, so she was really having to hustle to cover all the tables, but she did so with humor and friendliness, and everyone seemed content to wait and enjoy the ambience. We tried the seated wine tasting flight, with one of us having just a Pellegrino (second winery, driving over Vasco Rd..right??). We didn't order any of the appetizers but several tables near us did, and they seemed happy with them, despite a fairly steep price for each. It was interesting to learn about Murrieta's speciality--the Cab Franc, and the server was quite knowledgable about the wines and the winery. read more
