Nice winery in Livermore - we stopped by after lunch at the Garre café nearby. We didn't do any wine tasting this time, but admired their many award winners, proudly displayed. We also walked off our lunch wandering around the shady grounds, watching families and wedding parties enjoying themselves on the outdoor patio, and appreciating the neat rows of Merlot, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapevines. I've been here a few times since for lunch at the cafe with colleagues. This review is for their Father's Day event with my family, and overall, we had a really nice time. I had emailed them beforehand with many questions about the event, and the person I was corresponding with was very responsive. We went back and forth a bit, so I really appreciated how helpful and communicative they were leading up to the event. One of the things I liked most was that the event felt pretty no-fuss and relaxed. We had looked at a few other wineries in the area that were hosting events for Father's Day, but some of them had really strict policies for their special event like charging an exorbitant amount just to reserve a table, PLUS requiring a minimum 3 bottle purchase and limiting the number of people per table. It all felt a little too controlled. This place was much more laid-back, which I really appreciated. No reservations were needed, no minimum bottle purchase, and no headcount limit/table. There was also a car show going on, which was free to attend. It was nice to walk around and check out the classic cars, although it was very hot this day too. They had some local vendors selling arts and crafts, shaved ice, coffee, and snacks, so there was plenty to walk around and check out. It was hot out, so the shaved ice was really tasty! The live music was also really nice and added to the atmosphere. For food, you could either dine at the restaurant or get the BBQ being offered on the lawn. The BBQ wasn't actually cooked on the lawn, it was already packaged in to-go boxes, brought over from the restaurant by golf cart, and kept warm in insulated containers. The BBQ was **VERY delicious!** I believe the meal was around $35, and it fed 2 people well. We had leftovers. It came with BBQ chicken, potato salad, cornbread, a slice of watermelon, and a cookie. You could also add tri-tip, which we did. Everything was really flavorful. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the tri-tip was just as good, juicy and nicely seasoned. The sides were also very good. And I love cornbread, so I was definitely happy about that! The one area I think could use some improvement was the payment process for the BBQ. Since I was paying by card, they didn't have a card reader at the BBQ setup. I was told they didn't have one, which I found a little odd since they had a wine table set up on the same lawn where people were able to pay by card. Because of that, they had to take my card back to the restaurant, which, if you're familiar with the layout of the property, is a bit of a walk. Some people were waiting there for the worker to return with their card so they could sign the receipt before taking their food. I decided I didn't want to wait around because I was ready to eat, so I gave them my card, took the food, and went to our table. The worker later came and found me at the table, returned my card, and had me sign the receipt there, which worked out fine. Still, I think having another card reader specifically for the BBQ area would make the process much easier and more convenient. The wine table on the lawn also seemed to have a bit of a slow start. From what my family noticed, the event had already started and they weren't quite ready to go yet, so the staff seemed a little flustered at first. My family purchased a bottle to enjoy at our table. Seating was open and first come, first served, although there were some tables with reserved signs on them, possibly for wine club members? We arrived at the start of the event, and we ended up getting a great table in the shade, so no complaints there. Better than the reserved tables too b/c those had umbrellas but the sun kept moving so they had to keep moving the umbrella accordingly. You could also bring your own lawn chairs, which was something I had specifically asked about in my emails. We brought ours just in case, but ended up not needing them, so they stayed in the car. One of my questions was regarding the food options and they did state that outside food was not allowed, which I completely understand since they were offering food on-site. However, I did notice several families at tables near us who had brought their own food and coolers. That was a little frustrating to see because, had we known it wasn't really being enforced, we probably would have brought some of our own food and wine as well. Despite a few things that could be improved, overall it was a really nice, laid-back Father's Day outing with the family. I liked that there was plenty going on: the car show, vendors, live music, food, and wine without the event feeling overly structured or restrictive. The relaxed atmosphere was probably my favorite part, and the BBQ was definitely a highlight! read more

A lovely afternoon sipping on their sparkling, this one is on the drier side. The other sparkling they serve is sweeter. Their winery is a part of the wine trolley with a stop here and two other wineries. Their staff is friendly and hospitable. Their tasting room was decked out for Halloween. This is a cute winery in Livermore along Tesla road, where there are dozens of other wineries. This one is rather rustic, and they have a large outdoor patio covered by umbrellas. On this Sunday, there's live music with a country singer. Tasting is $25, and their wines are pretty decent. The view from their patio is really nice with the vineyards in the background. We dropped by Sunday around 1:30pm. It wasn't busy at all. There were only 2 other tables taken inside. It was windy so we sat inside the tasting room. They have a spacious outdoor patio. $25 tasting fee of 5 wines. The wines get better as you go down the list. You start with lighter wines and go to a bit bolder. Went for a tasting in the afternoon and they have a pretty outdoor seating area and the overall tasting experience was really good! I'd say the only downside is they don't have any finger food at the actual tasting site, but you are allowed to purchase from their restaurant down the road which is approx a 5 min walk away and the food their is tasty and pairs well with the wine! read more

If you are a future bride looking for a winery wedding venue (that can hold up to 300 guests), I can't recommend Garre Winery enough! My husband and I booked the venue with Irene Williams (she is absolutely lovely and very informative) in March of 2024 and we were married in June 2025. Our guest count was 250 and our guests are still raving about the food and ambiance. We had an outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception and the service was spectacular. I'd like to personally call out Lindsay Besser from Garre who was our day of coordinator. From start to finish Lindsay was responsive, professional and a joy to work with. Her years of experience showed through and she wasn't afraid to make recommendations for our vendors and our day-of timeline. She was proactive in helping me get things done (I decided to not hire a wedding planner) and between the two of us, we were able to plan and execute the day perfectly. Garre's wedding package includes silverware, tables, table cloths, some decor items, food, beverages (people loved the wine and champagne), an open bar (a must for our group) and even late-night eats. There is also an outdoor section of the venue that is beautiful during golden hour. We booked the florals, dessert and music (dj/emcee) separately. I attended a wedding at this place. It was hella hot out but there was some shade on our side so that was nice. The outdoor setting is really pretty. After the weeding we went to their hall area. It was really nice and big. They do have an outside area with Astro turf. All of our event was inside. To hot. They had an open bar but 'WELL' only . Wow I have some friends that own bars and the Well here was totally no name. Which is about 2 dollars a bottle. I couldn't drink it. They did let me buy my own drink from the rest of the bar. Thank the stars hahah. I got Remy XO at 27 a glass. They bartender poured me heavy which I loved. Tipped him well. The food was surprisingly good. They had short ribs and salmon as the mains. I recently stopped by to pick up a year's worth of wine, only to learn that my membership had never actually been charged due to an expired credit card. Fair enough--I wasn't aware, but I appreciated the clarification and asked to cancel the membership since I hadn't visited in over a year. At that point, things took an unexpectedly hostile turn. Despite the fact that there had been no charge, and I had received no wine or benefits, I was told I would need to pay for the full year in order to cancel. When I expressed confusion--given that there had been no transaction--they suggested I had a "character flaw," accused me of being "unethical," and even likened the situation to "stealing." That was... surprising. Especially since I had come in specifically to resolve the issue transparently and in good faith. I ended up paying the $75 cancellation fee just to put the experience behind me. Ironically, I had just thad my birthday lunch which was lovely (and expensive) on the property--without using the membership discount--because I didn't want to be accused of "unethical" behavior while canceling. The setting is undeniably beautiful, and the restaurant is wonderful, which makes the interaction all the more disappointing. It's a shame to leave with such a bitter taste, but I suppose some lessons are worth the cost. I sincerely hope others have a more gracious experience. read more

This is a great venue for any large party/ gathering. The food was excellent and the bar is professional. We were gathered there for a high school reunion of approximately 160 attendees. The facilities are easy to get to and was beautiful. this is a perfect place for a large wedding reception or an anniversary party. This has been our go to spot for years to have our Mother's Day brunch. This year was lackluster. The food just wasn't good. The salads were boring literally just leaves and dressing. The eggs Benedict had NO taste. The hollandaise sauce was so thin. It just overall sucked and that's usually one dish goes well. There was no carving station, no bread. The coffee was gross. It was disappointing. I will say the shrimp cocktail, the omelette station and the fruit were good lol. Would we come here again? I don't know. The place is nice. The service is pretty good but I don't know what happened with the food. We were waiting for the menu to be posted online like usual but they didn't do it this time around. This place is beautiful, I'll give it that. The dining room is gorgeous, perfect for a small wedding or event, and the views were wonderful looking over the vineyard. The campus around the restaurant was awesome for walking around with beautiful details all over. We had late lunch in one of the dining rooms. It was pretty empty, which was nice for COVID, and the waiter always had his mask on, so we felt very safe. The bread was awesome, as well as the appetizers (the spinach dip was amazing!) but the main meal left a lot to be desired. Most of us weren't impressed (dry sandwiches, my carbonara was fishy, the ravioli was more spinach than cheese), which was disappointing compared to the lovely atmosphere and the prices we were paying. I think a stop in here for the views, a tasting, and some appetizers would be well worth it, but I'm not sure it's worth it for the whole dining experience. read more

Bottom line, we had a lovely time. We sat outside at the cafe. We ordered a ton of appetizers plus dessert and all was quite tasty, no complaints. Also, ordered Garre champagne and wine which we enjoyed. All in all, Garre Winery is excellent. It's nice to feel like you're in the wine country without driving to Napa/Sonoma. My sister and I celebrated our birthdays at Garre's winery this weekend. Because of the rain we couldn't be seated outside. Raquel was able to book us at one of their tasting rooms. She was super sweet. She also suggested for us to book at the cafe after for cake and dinner. Carlos, who works at the cafe was able to book us for a party of 12. Their service is great, the ambiance is nice. I'm so glad and thankful that I didn't have to cancel my birthday plans because of this weather and they were able to accommodate us... will definitely be going back. It was like a the warmest HUG. We ordered Easter dinner from Garre. It had been our first drive in the car since this whole quarantine started. Just the drive from Concord to Livermore, I realized how much we take for granted. Being able to just pull our car up, the staff greeted us, all organized and dropped our lovely wine and gorgeously prepared and wrapped food into the trunk of our car. We took a little stroll on the grounds of freshly cut grass. I was suddenly reminded, that simple things are so important. With a tear in my eye writing this, I cannot thank Garre and staff enough. But it got really busy, & had to wait for our server to come check with us. I came her for the Ribeye, cuz they only serve it on Fridays & Saturdays. For the Price $72, It was Not worth it at all. It was a Cheap, Low quality Cut of Meat. But, the Jambalaya was Good, & so was the Artichoke Dip. The Mussels Apetizers was lacking in flavor. And my Favorite Dessert, Tiramisu, was a Total Disappointment. It did Not taste like Tiramisu at all. It did Not taste like any kind of dessert.
