Went to check out their new location, but it was disappointing. Check-in was confusing, the hostess was unclear, and we ended up finding our own way to the other side--as there are 2 tasting rooms. . We celebrate the bride to be with a traditional bachelorette party at concannon this weekend. It was a blastttt. The wine was amazing and I really enjoyed the prepackaged snacks they offer. From sparkling whites to Zinfandel the wine was pleasing to my palette, spicy, not too tannic, fruity aroma, the Mothervine Cab was spicy and not tannic and the lastly the Captain Joe's Petite Sirah, fruity aroma, and tannic. When we arrived at Concannon winery, we realized we were the only people tasting on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. What a treat that turned out to be! We had absolutely attentive service from a great wine tasting Steward/ host. He was not only knowledgeable about the wine, but also about the winery, the history of the area, and many other parts of the wine industry. Came here for a Yelp event and honestly wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. First off, it's tucked away in Livermore which makes it way more convenient than driving all the way out to Napa--and honestly, the wine here is better than a few places I've been to in Napa. Service was great. The man helping us was super friendly and gave such fun history facts about the winery. He answered all our questions and made the whole experience feel casual and not intimidating, which I appreciated since we're still kind of new to wine tasting. The ambiance was beautiful--super peaceful, with a really pretty outdoor terrace and plenty of space to sit, sip, and just chill. We ended up grabbing a few snacks and leaving with two bottles of wine, so clearly we were into it. Already thinking about coming back on a weekend for a more laid-back visit outside of the Yelp event. My first winery visit in Concannon Vineyard, Livermore was absolutely amazing! My girls and I wanted to spend a Saturday afternoon wine tasting and was able to get paired with Barry as our wine man! He was really informative and had shared the best jokes! The wine itself here was super yummy and had many great options! I loved that they had small bites we could purchase, and we ended up getting crackers and a spinach artichoke dip which paired really well with the wines we tried! I was so excited to visit for a tasting after trying one of their wines at an event in downtown Walnut Creek. Sadly, the experience did not live up to my expectations. Cons - our server asked to see our IDs immediately (which is not a problem as I always expect to show my ID). The problem happened when the server was adamant my partner was "not the same person" on the ID. He then pulled out a second government ID and she was insistent AGAIN that it was not him. At this point it was already an awkward beginning and she had to get another person to check BOTH his LEGAL IDs to make sure it's him. That was a weird start to the tasting. - the pours are very small. I realize it's a "tasting" but I have been to many places where they give you twice the amount of wine -we bought a bottle for home, but once we got home realized it was not the correct one (this is partially our fault because we did not check before we left) -outdoor seating can be a little chilly because not all seats have heaters Pros - we had a reservation on a Monday afternoon which was easy to make and we were sat right away - you get a welcome glass of their sparkling wine - Mondays are 2 for 1 tastings, so a great deal for a casual weekday outing - all the wines we tasted were great read more

The wife and I brought 2 other couples with us that are not big wine drinkers for a tasting on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated on the patio and the day was pleasantly warm but not too warm. Concannon has a couple of refrigerators in the main area of the tasting room where they have various meats and cheeses. We bought some of these to enjoy with our tasting and they really elevated the experience. Our host was very friendly and knowledgeable and all of our group had a great time. We had a wonderful time with our server who was knowledgeable and had some facts about the vineyard itself and the wines. Unfortunately, I forgot her name. These are the wines we tried: - 2023 Reserve Rose of Petite Sirah: delicious, light but flavorful and dry. - 2021 Reserve Chardonnay: Semi buttery, tastes bright - Assemblage Blanc: tasty but light - 2020 Reserve Stampmaker's GSM: tasty every day red, didn't seem to stand out at all - 2019 Reserve Assemblage Red: tastes fruity with a slight peppery note at the end - 2017 Estate Cab Sauv Red Blend: bold and slightly smokey - Cab Sauv Mother Vine: Tastes jammy to me and delicious - 2017 Reserve Petite Sirah: decadent and deep flavors, dark. The grounds are pretty big and lots of seating available. It's cool that they have adults only on the weekends but difficult for families to come enjoy some wine. Next time might be a good idea to bring a picnic on the lawn area and enjoy a nice bottle. Overall their prices on bottles are a spectrum of around $30-80. Slightly on the middle to higher end which may not be your thing. Overall through the tasting, I'm not sure anything wow'd me that I would pay too much for a bottle. Wines were delicious and our server, an older gentleman, was very knowledgeable about the grapes, vintage, and history of the winery. He answered all of our questions thoroughly. The patio seating was very relaxing with a great view of the vineyards. There's also a lovely fountain that we took photos in front of. We chose this specific winery because we were allowed to bring dog and our 6 month old (children are allowed on specific days only). The check-in process was a little clunky, especially with many people checking in right at opening time. We became members because on our first visit we were told Concannon was very kid-friendly and that children were welcome, even on weekends in the non-patio area. Based on that information, we purchased a membership. When we returned on a weekend with our toddler, the experience was completely different. We felt so unwelcome that my husband took our toddler and left so I could finish my tasting. That was not how we expected to spend our visit after being told families were welcome. On a separate weekday visit, our server, Ann Marie, was not friendly or welcoming. We left feeling uncomfortable because the service was cold and uninviting. We also found the older, tall manager to be unfriendly during our visits. There are many great wineries nearby that are more welcoming. If you have young children, I would think twice before purchasing a membership here. We joined because of what we were told, but our actual experience was very different. read more

I've been a member for quite some time now and the three stars provided reflect solely on their service. The charcuterie type food is common as in any other winery. The ambiance is good. I don't frequent often, we make it out at least 4x a year. This last year, the times I have been there, service has lacked. Simply put, they are not accommodating and are not willing to try. As a comparison, I've gone to several neighboring wineries where the service is a 5+. I am a loyal customer however I am strongly considering taking my business elsewhere. read more

I have the 2024 Livermore Wine Passport and a friend and I decided to go on a Saturday afternoon. We got there around 3:15pm and the parking lot was almost full but we were able to find a spot. They have several parking lots but they also tend to be quite popular. We had to wait about 10 mins to be checked in and since there was no outside seating (the weather was perfect), we were seated in smaller room in a barn like building. Beautiful structure. There were about 5 other tables filled and by the time we left at 5pm, the room was full. Our server, Jim was great. He not only talked about each wine that he poured but when he learnt that I don't care for whites, he got me a taste of Rose that was not on the tasting menu. The tasting comes with 6 pours with an extra. That was too much wine for me and I did not try the last surprise pour but my friend loved it and even bought a bottle. It was busy so Jim took some time getting us waters. In the meantime, we walked up to the counter to ask the other server, a woman for water and also if they had any corks they could spare. Even though she was not busy, she asked us to ask Jim for water and for the corks. She is the reason for 1 star missing. They had cheese, crackers and other food for sale even though we did not buy anything. The location and vineyard are beautiful, the wines were fantastic, especially the Sav Blanc and Chardonnay and our server Jim was a joy. He not only gave me a wine bag full of corks but asked me to come back with a big box because they had a barrel full of corks and I think I will! Great experience! read more

Great experience. All the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. We arrived 30 minutes early and expected a wait however they welcomed us in to a clean table pretty much as soon as we arrived. We enjoyed the drinks and the server was able to answer all questions and make the experience great. The views were great of the vineyards, garden, etc... This might be the worst winery I have ever been to. I want to preface this review with how I learned of this place. In one of the Elite Events, Concannon was one of the vendors that was doing some wine tasting. I tried their red blend and I loved it. I loved it so much that I planned my birthday weekend to visit this winery. I went on a Saturday and made a reservation for 11:30am. We were a bit early so we waited in the car until they opened. As we walked in, an older couple were helped and then it was us. The hostess greeted us, gave us our welcome wines and seated us outside in the patio overlooking the garden area. That is when the service ended. We sat and waited for someone to start our wine tasting, and nothing. Staff walked by us, while we patiently waited. People before us and after us were going through their tastings and we just sat there, looking dumb and unwelcome. I told my bf we will keep waiting until 12pm and then if no one says a word to us, we are walking out. 12pm strikes and we stood up and went to the front. I was greeted by someone who looked like a Manager, and an older lady who was actually in the Yelp event. I mentioned we are not serviced for 30mins so we are leaving and this man says "did you check in?" I took offense but said "yes we did." He apologized and asked what they can do for us and we said nothing and we are leaving. My experience here left a very sour taste in my mouth. It was a beginning of a celebration that ended poorly. I am so glad the rest of my day in the other wineries were amazing. I say skip this one. Livermore has other amazing wineries with great wines. read more

A pretty nice wine tasting experience from Bay Area without doing the Napa drive. This place is big, has super views and lots of outdoor seating. As it was windy, we chose to sit inside. Great place to have picnics in Summer as their lawns are big. We visited with friends and I highly recommend making reservations if you wish to spend sometime and hit up the wine tasting. Beautiful, delicious, amazing! My family and I were served by Ashley and Trevor and were amazed at their knowledge! Ashley had a food pairing for each wine we tasted and Trevor was a joy to be around. We also enjoyed the snacks they sell onsite with the charcuterie box having everything you need. The winery is gorgeous and the tasting spaces had copious amounts of shade. The Victorian home on the property is so cute and Ashley knew the answer to every question we had about it. While I don't have too much experience with wineries, I have to say that my experience here was very enjoyable. The staff was extremely friendly and personable, a big thanks to Ashley who made our time here something to remember. Coming into the winery we got a little lost as we accidentally entered through the service entrance but we eventually found our way to where we were supposed to go. We found ourselves outside a very well refurbished barn looking structure and were checked in and seated very quickly. Our tasting room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated, just a fun place to try some wine. For our tasting today we had the library flight with a chocolate pairing and we were very happy with what we got. The experience came with three chocolates and 6 samplings of wine and each seemed to be better than the last. The chocolate complimented the paired wines extremely well and the finish of a sweet port was a great way to end the tasting... Or so we thought as we were surprised with a final Cab to really finish off the tasting. The wine was delicious in addition to the chocolate pairings, the atmosphere was warm and comfortable, and all the staff was warm and friendly. On Mondays they have a special, 2 for 1 tasting price, otherwise it is $30/person. Trevor greeted us kindly at the door and was our wine expert throughout the tasting. We sat outside under the pavilion and Trevor told us all about their different wines. There is lots of seating both inside and out. Trevor was very knowledgeable and friendly ! I made a reservation for my group of 6 for a Sunday. Originally for the terrace but it was changed to the pavilion because it was not available. They do say to wait for a confirmation email so that tells me they can't guarantee your booking. The change was perfect because the terrace was all shaded and dark and it was a beautiful sunny Sunday! When we come back we will pick the pavilion again. The terrace would be nice for a really hot day. Our host, Luella, was wonderful! She's very knowledgeable in her wines and was just so nice, fun and friendly. Sure there was some upselling but we never felt obligated. It's $30 for 6 tastings but currently, if you check in on Yelp, you get 2 upgraded tastings! So 2 more not from the list. Also depending on the purchase amount of any bottles from them, they will take off a tasting price. We ended up buying 3 bottles to enjoy on the lawn afterwards. If you want to picnic, you can only do so on the lawn and not during the tasting. They also have a lil shop selling jams, and other picnic items but it's limited. The grounds is beautiful and it wasn't crowded at all. Our friends who've been here before says it's less crowded than Napa and prefer coming here instead. Terrible experience. Appalling service. My friend pays for the premium wine club membership. She invited me to visit as I was interested in buying the membership. The pours were miniscule and they couldn't locate a bottle listed on the flight. 30 minutes before they closed, they told us we had to leave at 5:00. We lightheartedly joked asking if 5:05 would be acceptable. In an unexpected exchange that began friendly, the man serving said rudely and sternly that he "decided when his tables are cleared". My friend then asks to order two glasses of wine and add them to the bill. The server said we would "need to chuck them back fast". He returned with two glasses with a quarter fill of wine in each. He said he "adjusted the amount in the glasses to a smaller amount because we couldn't drink them in time" along with the bill for full charges for two glasses. Nightmare cut short, we leave at exactly 5:00 pm. As we get in the car we see and count 6 tables full of relaxed guests, some with feet up, laughing, drinking wine and not one even close to preparing to leave, with children playing on the grass uninterrupted. Their own marketing often emphasizes: * "Family legacy since 1883." * "Picnic grounds and heritage estate for everyone to enjoy." * Large open lawns and a tasting patio where people often bring food, friends, and yes -- kids and dogs. In fact, if you look at Concannon's website and social posts, they: * Encourage visitors to "enjoy a relaxing day on the estate grounds." * Have hosted family-style events (Easter egg hunts, outdoor concerts, seasonal photo sessions). * Explicitly welcome dogs on leashes in outdoor spaces. So, turning away families with kids -- especially without signage or clear policy -- directly conflicts with how they publicly portray themselves. read more

The winery is beautiful and the outside area was a great place to relax, lay on the grass, and take photos with the bushes and plants near the walkway. The wine was delicious and the gentleman taking care of us was kind and attended to us. The experience was so good, we took home a bottle.
