I found 3 Steve's Winery and I was so delicious. I love big bold reds and they had the wines to scratch my itch. Heaven!! I was taken care of by Liza and she was a hoot! Some were helpful, others poured and left with no interaction. We like learning about the wine. We got 2/5 explanations. My husband asked a question regarding the 3 cabs pour but the server answered it while walking away. Pours were also inconsistent compared to other tables, and we noticed differences in how guests with children were treated. At the end, one server's only interaction with us was to scold our well behaved child. Overall, good wine, but uneven service and value.

One thing I'd say since I do quite a bit of wine tasting is that the people we had pouring wine weren't as friendly as what I'm used. We were at another winery right before this one and the entire staff was super friendly and we had a blast. Since my friends are members here, I'm sure I'll be heading back there the next time I'm in town, hopefully they have friendlier people working.

Not entirely sure. We found the barn closer to the back. Tha barn was on a neat location, it has a little patio area outside overlooking the vineyards. If it wasn't hot I would have stayed outside instead. The barn was cool, there were small tall tables and chairs and lounge are with sofas. We were asked what tasting flight we like to try and we went with the red and whites. We paired our tasting with cheese and chips. I laughed when they handed us the cheese which was a block of wrapped cheese and a bag of chips. I was fully thinking it was already prepared, cut cheese and a bowl of chips. I did not mind though. I would be happy to take cheese and chips home too. lol Wines were good. I have noticed in many wineries here in Livermore, the reds are lighter bodied and not as dry as the ones I had in Napa or Paso Robles. We also ended up taking a bottle home. Overall cool area, good wines. Would definately go back to see what else they offer.

We even got an extra tasting of a Bordeaux cab to compare with the regular cab. Generous pours. Wines were Bordeaux style. Bold, smooth, and mostly fruity. Right up in our alley! There was one red that was earthy. They have a big outdoor area for seatings. You can bring outside food and it's pet friendly. Great service from the staff. Everyone was so friendly. Our guy was very knowledgeable. Needless to say, we became members! Now fast toward of being members for a year. Sad to say, but the wines went down hill for us. They didn't taste as good and flavorful for us anymore. And we have been back several times. I've only been to one wine release party in June. It was a sausage and wine pairing event. But service has always been good and you can always revisit the wines. It's a nice property with plenty of indoor and outdoor space.

They were able to accommodate us, I think also in part probably because it was blazing hot this day, so perhaps they weren't as full as they usually are for a Saturday, but great for us! I think it's great that they allow you to bring your own food, though I wish we had known ahead of time, (again, last minute decision so I didn't do my research) we definitely would've brought some snacks since they do not sell food. It was a hot day, and Brent promptly brought over a carafe of water, which we appreciated. The winery is intimate, but it has a lot of character. On the west side, you can overlook the vineyards, which was lovely. Since it was a hot day, not many people were out there on that side, so we had that side of the house to ourselves. The tasting included 6 wines, a mix of whites and reds. Since I'm more partial to whites, I asked if I could swap some of the reds for more whites instead, and Brent happily accommodated me. He was kind and friendly throughout. I also love bubbles, and at first he mentioned he didn't have an open bottle, but I said I would still buy it anyways. But later he found one and poured me some of their sparkling, it was delicious! I should've bought 2!! He asked us what we wanted to re-visit and my husband picked the Fat Boy. We picked up a bottle of that one too. I will be coming back for another sparkling or two! Overall, a great experience thanks to Brent. Next time we'll definitely bring some snacks to enjoy alongside the tasting!

My wife and I stopped by Mitchell Katz on a 100-degree day, but sitting outdoors under the deep shade of their trees with a gentle breeze keeping us cool was incredibly comfortable. It actually transported me right back to the magic of school summer breaks growing up in India. The wine flight itself was an absolute treat. We started with the "Sunshine" Sauvignon Blanc, which was the perfect, crisp welcome pour (honestly, it would make a stellar candidate for a sparkling wine!). While the '22 "Wet My Lips" Rosé was just okay for us, the reds and the sweet finish completely blew us away: * '22 Casa de Vinas Merlot: This completely redefined what a Merlot should be. Incredible spicy richness with a beautiful, lingering finish. * '21 "Fat Boy" Cabernet: Lush, velvety, sweet, and tangy with a gorgeous hint of spice in the aroma. It is exactly the bold, unapologetic "Fat Boy" Cabernet Mitchell envisioned. (I was in heaven, though my wife found it a bit on the sour/tangy side!) * '21 Livermore Cabernet: A crowd-pleaser that my wife highly approved of--it carried a touch more sweetness to perfectly balance out that vibrant acidity. * '22 Mt Meanao Late Harvest Zinfandel: Liquid summer. Reminded us of plum, pluot, and honey married with sweet orange marmalade, leaving a gorgeous, spicy fruit finish that just stayed with you. If you are looking for an unpretentious, high-character boutique winery with phenomenal reds and a relaxing outdoor vibe, Mitchell Katz is a gem. This was hands-down the best summer late afternoon we've spent in the valley!
