Almost Famous

Almost Famous is my favorite live music venue in the East Bay. The acoustics in the theater are fantastic, the crowds are fun and the wine selections are excellent. I'm also very impressed with the staff who couldn't be nicer, especially Karen. Karen is a warm hostess and sweet wine-tender. I recommend Almost Famous to anyone looking for a good time.

Wonderful little venue. Great place to enjoy wine and hear live music with friends. Many seating choices. Friendly people.

Wow!! Another fantastic event at Almost Famous Wine Lounge to hear Rick Estrin and the Nightcats! This little gem of a showroom is our favorite venue to enjoy music in an intimate setting with excellent sound. There are small tables on the floor and more seating behind. The entertainment lineup features our favorite blues bands and a variety of musical offerings. Almost Famous is one of the many great wineries that are in the Livermore area, and they sell their wine by bottle or by the glass. There are also non-alcoholic options.

After a day of shopping (Outlets), dinner (Posada) we attended a concert show at Almost Famous Wine Lounge in Livermore. As we approached the venue we noticed the area has a bunch of wineries, tasting rooms and brewery-tap rooms. For sure an area to visit and spend some time in Our first time at Almost Famous, arrived 30 minutes before the show and found our names on a small sign where our seats were. A nice touch instead of searching for your seats. The venue is small and intimate, perfect for viewing a show. The sound was also set up perfectly, the setting is essentially a warehouse so getting the sound right is critical. There is a bar just to the left of the concert area which is very convenient to grab a glass or bottle of wine. There is a wide variety of local wines at reasonable prices. I wasn't sure of the wines, no problem the bartender took the time to answer my questions. Over the years we've been to numerous bars-clubs to see shows, Almost Famous Wine Lounge is one of the very best. Will be back whenever we are in the area. Best of all the Tommy Castro show was great and for the encore Tommy's brother Daniel came onstage and played guitar! Awesome night!

Bought reserved high top seats and they were 60$ per. The venue is intimate, sound was great. They did have some basic non-alcoholic canned drinks available- think kombucha, sparkling water, light sodas. Parking is difficult. We parked down the end of a road around the corner. My main complaint is the seating is crammed together and you are shoulder to shoulder and the back on the bar stool is almost non-existent. My friend and i had problems sitting in these seats for any amount of time . I would go again for another band i love and would buy table seating or even stand. I recommend they do NOT cram 4 stools to a section, it would improve the experience for those of us over the age 50.

Various wines at the wine bar.

This tasting room is a nice change from the rest in the immediate area. Not only are the wines of great quality, but they have amazing charities that benefit from the sales of the various bottles and varietals they sell. Manager, Kirsten is a sweet gal that is easy to talk to and recommends a tasty glass of whatever's your type of wine. In addition to the wine and tasting room, this place also has a second room that provides evenings of entertainment on the weekends. From live music performances to comedy shows, a small, intimate venue is the perfect place to spend an evening with a good glass of wine, a date, and a show!

Ask the Community - Almost Famous Wine Lounge

When they have music and bands is there dancing and a dance floor or are they more like seated musical events?

There is generally some room for dancing, especially on the bigger events, but in general, all of the shows are ticketed, where the guests buy tickets at either tables, or high-top chairs on a high-top drink rail. The lounge also has a screen that… Read more

Do they serve beer?

Due to licensing, they only serve wine and soft drinks. But you can pop in to Altamont before the show!

Is there food available before and during the shows? I'm planning on going to a few events.

The venue offers cold food options like salads and sandwiches, as well as charcuterie. You are able to bring outside food in, or, there are normally 2-3 food trucks in the lot immediately behind the venue and across the street at Wood Family.

If we don't bring food whats the menu?

There is no menu, you need to bring your own food.

What is the capacity for the live music part of the lounge?

Capacity is 160 persons in the stage room and another 40 people can be in the lounge area that opens directly into the stage room through two large barn-style doors. In the stage room, the table seating capacity is approximately 90 people and… Read more

What are prices for wine tasting and bottle prices?

Build your own tasting flights at $5 to $10 per 2oz pour. Bottles range from $30 to $60 per 750ml and the 6oz glasses are between $10 and $20 each.

So I have very mixed feelings about this place. Some things are incredible. Some things are not…read moreso great. I am a member of the "Legends" club. So that to me means it's top of the line membership as indicated by their pricing and what we get. So I feel I should get top notch deals, pricing and service. Turns out, we get the same shaft as the lower club members. Starting with the good, the location is pristine. Nice area with lots of room for kids and adults to mingle and play. The wine is also pretty darn good. Of course there are some better than others but I enjoy most of their wine. The service is also for the most part very good. The waitstaff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. Their food is also pretty darn good. It's not incredible, and a bit overpriced but it's fine enough. Their wine pricing is also fair (but of course with the highest membership we get the biggest discount). My biggest complaints would be the price gouging and lack of communication. We made arrangements on a Friday to show Sunday with 6 and asked for the "VIP space upgrade to lounge or upstairs Vista Patio Lounge (when available)". They said no problem. When we showed on Sunday they said it was closed with no notice. Just a sorry. OK whatever. We sit inside (6 people and 2 children) and they charge for 2 children a "non drinker" charge of $10 ($5 each). A head count charge for non-drinkers? For children? Total nonsense! I am spending over $1,200 a year here and you want to gouge me for someone's kids? Their tastings are $40 a pop which is really crazy. Our price is waived on this so that's fine but if you are not a member you are paying a lot for a little. The wines do take a bit of time to come and they don't give you a lot. Kind of a bummer waiting for the taste. We ended up with 4 appetizers (sliders $24, Charcuterie $25, Tater Tots $12 and Pretzel Bites with Grilled Sausage $16) 2 bottles of wine and $4.25 for water and the bill was over $250. Oh and top that off, with 6 people, they charge a mandatory 20% on the bill for a tip and are basing that with taxes (as the button default), not the actual sub-total so they are actually getting about 23%. All in all, I am not sure that the cost is worth what you get. I mean we are giving them a lot of money just to be members and then having to pay more and more for anything else that really should be included (like water and kids) makes this place just a bit too over-rated for me. Probably end my club membership in the fall and go someplace that doesn't place money first.

The entire place was very pretty, clean, and organized. They had an outdoor fire pit and kindly turned it on for me since I was cold--it definitely helped keep me warm along with the wine! The dip and crackers were so good--I especially loved the creamy cheese dip. We also ordered the chocolate lava cake; it was okay... but I have to say, Domino's lava cake might still be my favorite lol. Overall, we would definitely go again!

Our jaws were dropped and we vowed to never judge a book by its cover again LOL We got a Groupon for wine tasting for 2 with 2 charcuterie boxes. That's why we drove to Livermore to visit this tasting room. We were blown away for sure! As soon as we walked in, staff Tammy greeted us and let us pick our seating spot. This tasting room opens at 1pm and we were their first customers. However, it was filled up fast. Tammy greeted everyone and it seemed like they were all returning customers. Though the tasting room got crowded later, we all had our own spaces and privacy and the entire experience felt very intimate. We love the outdoor and barn vibe! Occasionally we forgot that we were inside. Tammy slowly introduced us to a flight of 6 for our wine tasting. She explained the wine itself, how it was made and its origin. Out of the 6 wines that we tried, we loved the Cabernet Franc from Dublin the best! It's so light, oaky and has a nice finish :) Each of us got our own charcuterie boxes which were made fresh and delivered the day of from Pleasanton, according to Tammy. So everything felt extra special because they were sourced locally. One thing that touched us the most was that Tammy, though being very busy herself, took time to sit down and chat with us. She told us about the history behind heart logo and the touching story of the owners Phil and Debra. That Phil had the tattoo of the heart logo on his arm so that he felt Debra's presence with him. Debra passed away due to cancer a few years ago. Our pup Butter also had a wonderful time being at home here at the tasting room. We will definitely be back soon!
