"Creative outdoor fun" I love everything about this placeI I went out of my way to revisit this business after a respite of many years. It was even better than I remembered. They have added some infrastructure improvements such as a large grass area for kids, plus a nicer interior, including bathrooms. The friendly bartender Maddy, explained some of the improvements. The owners obviously take great pride in this location. On a pleasant spring afternoon, there were tons of people gathered around. You can bring your kids, your dogs, even grandpa and grandma. Don't forget to check out the trolley car, which is a tap room for private parties. Today was a perfect day for a brown ale. Just what the doctor ordered! I felt very sorry for the band that was playing in the sun and a dust devil came along and wiped out the stage. Everything went flying! In the before times, I didn't care if it was indoor or outdoor seating available, but in the current times, I'm interested only in outdoor seating. We stopped at a different brewery first, but inside was packed and outside was taken up by families. That's how we ended up at Homegrown Hops Brewing. It's all outside. Plenty of parking for the amount of seating available. Some fire pits. Lots of picnic tables. A lawn busy with dogs running around and people playing cornhole. I had some of the porter. Tasty. I tried a sip of the blackberry seltzer, which was delicious and dry. Would sip again! There are bathrooms available, but it's one accessible and one standard portable toilet, with foot-pump activated handwashing station between the two. Rotating food vendor on-site. It was Ominous Burgers the day we ate there. Bring your sunnies, maybe a hat or sunscreen, but also a warm sweater or jacket for after sunset. Great place for groups and families! read more

There was a holiday fair "shop the hops" with a variety of craft goods, an enjoyable selection of music from the band, samples of their ciders, and tasty food for purchase. It was cold, wet, and drizzle of rain but an enjoyable time. The selection varied from homemade jewelry, to succulents, to fashion accessories for your pets. My friend and I split a mushroom burger that was tasty with fries, they were seasoned well but could have had a little bit less salt on them. Overall an enjoyable afternoon. If you like IPA's and assortment of beers check this place out. For a newbie the samples I received were a hit. Came here for the first time today. I've been trying to visit as many wineries and breweries in Livermore as much as possible. The location was perfect and the atmosphere was so fun and inviting. They let you reserve a train car and games for parties and what not. They have music; both recorded and live depending on the date and time. The beer was good. We got flights which was nice and got to try the 6/8 beers they had on tap today. The beer was good and I would come again but I purposely chose not to get the stronger IPA and the Sour as I tend to not like those. Really fun vibe at this place. Families, dogs, large groups. Great setting. It's a big open lawn with some corn hole games, bocce courts, and plenty of picnic tables and heaters. Surrounded by vineyards, they are doing their own thing with a hopyard. Beyond that there are hills and vines stretching out into the distance. Some top notch food trucks too; great barbecue the day we were there. We tried four of their beers. The porter was good, on the lighter and sweeter side. The hazy IPA and double IPA was pretty solid. I love coming here. It's great that they have activities for the kids so the adults can relax and hang out. Only 4 stars because the price of food is way too much for what you get and cook on Saturday 3/9 was useless. There was maybe 50 people in total. It wasn't busy at all, and tickets were taking well over an hour. Everyone who ordered food was angry and frustrated. The cook was rude and disrespectful. He kept blaming things on the "new system." He was just extremely inexperienced. Also, only one bartender on a weekend is totally lame. The lines were long all day. One person to serve, change kegs, clean glasses is ridiculous. Great little spot nestled just outside of Lake Del Valle and in between a bunch of Livermore Valley's wineries... perfect for grabbing a couple of cold brews with family, friends, and/or pets. Bocce ball courts, corn hole, picnic tables, fire pits, food truck on site, clean porto potties, plenty of room for the kids to run and play and I believe there were TV's too. We wanted to get out of the house so I stumbled upon this spot on yelp. Decided to take a drive to check it out, found a table right away with an umbrella, tied the dog up, laid out a blanket, took out snacks for the kids, I ordered some beers, wife ordered some food, and the kids played corn hole. OK. This spot is the, you know what! Can't count how many times I've passed this up going to Murrieta's Well for wine tasting. This spot was packed each time. Finally had a chance to go last night to what I thought was just watching people playing cornhole and having fun. Ended up subbing for my buddy last night. I had a blast and the vibes at this place is perfect. First looking at their website for beer it seemed small but once you get there you will see a lot more beer options. I only had the hazy which was very good. But I was eye balling their tripple which people rave about. So the beer here is very good. What was a nice surprise was their food. I felt like I was eating from a really good food truck. Made to order which is nice and you get a buzzer when the food is ready. For how many people were there last nigth bathroom was pretty clean. Nice spot for a get together in Livermore. I stopped by this place with co-workers after work and it was a nice spot to enjoy a drink and hang out. Very casual and chill atmosphere. For beer they had a good selection, it looks like it rotates pretty frequently so looks like there is always something new to try. The outdoor space is very spacious (lol) with many cornhole game set ups, two bocce ball courts, and a few fire pits to sit by. As for food, it looks like various food trucks rotate the space so the food offerings vary depending on the day you go. Outside food was also allowed, so that is another plus. Super chill place, exactly what we like. Order your beer at the counter and then sit wherever you want. Bartender was super nice and offered tasters so we could decide what we wanted. (No flights atm). They had 4 IPAs when we went. Pints are $8. Six Shooter IPA - Both our favorite of the night it was super flavorful and just a great IPA. Wet Willy IPA - Apparently this was more of an experimental flavor and it was very weird but kinda good. It almost reminded me of gin or if you mixed a sour beer with an IPA. My second favorite, the husband's least favorite. Hopalong Hazy IPA - We both love hazy but weren't fans of this one, it just didn't have enough flavor. The owners did this one right with tables around the edge, bocce courts, cornhole, and a grassy area for chairs and blankets. I stopped in for my first visit due to the live music. It was already during COVID measures and it is really easy to comply so long as the weather cooperates. The only thing that the place needs: more parking. I've never had any complaints about this place except for they used to not have "real" bathrooms and I wasn't sure when weather was crazy if I'd head out there (due to it being an outdoor only space). Love this place! We've been going here for a couple years and always love it. I should have written this long ago, but tonight was extra special. They recently opened a small *indoor* tasting room...with board games!!! Usually it's an epic outdoor beer garden with bocce, cornhole, outdoor fire pits and epic views but tonight was extra special because it was freezing and we had our two young kids (3yo and 5yo) to hang out outside in the cold all bundled up. The nicest employee lit a fire pit, was so friendly, our kids got their endless energy out and hubby and I were able to relax. Don't get me started on beautiful summer days with live music outside and the perfect ambiance...probably why I haven't written a review before (I don't want you knowing about this gem!). I was really excited to try this place out for a few reasons. For starters, I've seen the hops growing on the property for at least a couple years and been waiting to see what was going to happen. Second, I'm always a fan of small, local businesses. It seems like the business is by far in its early stages. Their taproom is a parked trolley with some bench and barstool seating in it. Very squishy and unaccommodating to guests. They mentioned they were still waiting on permits to open the taproom, but regardless, this isn't a great intro to what their business will be like. The bathroom situation is just a portopotty on the side of the future taproom. I got a flight, $9 for 6 beer tastings, which is a pretty good deal. However, the style of the flight was one at a time and the woman just kept refilling the same glass instead of giving me a clean glass, which I wasn't a fan of. I didn't really like any of the beers. They were all slightly bitter, insanely foamy, and something just tasted kind of off about them. I'd be willing to give them another try when they open a proper taproom, but for now, I probably won't be returning. read more
