But don't think they are affliliated as the signages seems pretty separate. Balls dispensed through a machine that can take cards. Slightly better value than in my area, where I can get about 10 extra balls for the same price of $11 for a medium bucket. My area gives me 50 balls, here I got 60. They have both grass and mats here, which caught me by surprise as I haven't seen a grass range in over 10 years. They are just much more maintenance for a place to have, and my area for sure no longer have them. So I applaud them for having them here. But on an early weekend morning, that grass area was completely full, with people in line even for the stalls. There were only 10-12 stalls, so I'm pretty sure that the demand exceeds the space. The matted area was another 30-40 yards away. You're hitting into an open field facing the freeway. There are many palm trees out there so I did find targets to go for. Except there's no yardage postings, so I was going by feel. The whole point in going to a driving range is so you can work on your yardages, so I dock and reward ranges that may or may not give you this benefit. There's a small chipping area that also gets occupied readily. I may have to check this place out on a weekday mid-day sometime. The putting green was just okay, decent to work out some basics, but nothing like a course you'd play on. I had a decent practice session here, except in the summer morning I went, the matted area was very wet, probably they hose it down to clean it, which is fine. But my matt was pretty saturated so not sure on how it affected my contacts. Also when I left and got home, and because I was wearing shorts, I had several insect bites around my ankles and calf areas, on both legs. I'm assuming mosquitos because everything was so moist and wet, but left me itching and scratching for several days to follow. I hardly ever get bites even during camping, so to get them from a driving range, makes me weary on returning.

But in my first 5-7 years on taking up the game (95'-02'ish), we played here often, as this is a great course to learn on for several reasons. 1) It is only 9 holes, so you don't have to commit to a long 5-hour round on a big course. And when one is a beginner, 18 holes can be grueling. 2) The course is wide open, lots of room to err, without much penalty areas. Now there are areas you have to watch out for, but still much more generous than most other courses. 3) Lots of other not-so-good golfers here. So even if you suck, you won't really be holding up snooty better golfers, who will often press your pace. So be prepared for a slower round here, can't be in hurry here. 4) Cheaper green fees. Currently in 2026 it was $20 to walk on a weekday morning. Not sure what it is on weekends. It doesn't get any cheaper to play, especially out here in the Bay Area. Now for better players, this is still not a bad place to practice and hone your short game. I took my regular Monday crew here, as 1 of them had never been, and the other golf mate hadn't been in a long time, just like me. And we had a great time. For a 9 holer, there are 3 short par 4s. The rest are par 3s and they are really not that easy. Some of them are longer like 170+ yards, and almost all the greens are bowled/raised so it looks like a turtles hump. So a little tougher on getting your ball to stick to your target. You'll be doing a lot of chipping and pitching, which is all great practice for your short game. This course is in the middle of horse racetrack, at the Alameda Co. Fairgrounds. Great way to make use of otherwise dead space. Now when the fair is going on during the summer, I'm sure this course will close down. But the rest of the year, it is open. There is also a driving range/practice facility. But haven't used those yet. Locals seem to use it. And since it is inside the racetrack, in order to get inside, you'll have to drive under a one way tunnel. Which used to be scary back in the day, as you had to honk to warn the other direction that you were going through. Now there is a traffic light that directs traffic, which eliminates guessing and having to back up inside a tunnel. A nice course that has stood the test of time and is still serving a very specific purpose...to teach and prep newer golfers by providing a relaxed and beginner friendly environment. I was impressed, but too far as a solo parent and work/obligations to make it worthwhile for us with the cost. We were VERY happy with the move to Livermore. I figured since we have our own 55' batting cage in our yard, the Classic membership would be awesome.. get a discount on private lessons and some take home skills to work through via the app... Well, twins... homeschool PE became anything but baseball in the backyard so we switched to the "Elite" program. Initially was discouraged as the classes were always full and had scheduling issues. However, a year+ later I'm very happy with class availability and the addition of classes when needed. It's hard to reach anyone by phone at the business number early in the day as they open for classes after 3 pm, but leaving a voice message, email or using text message is pretty responsive... so they ARE there, just not physically in the building. My boys enjoy the classes and feel they are honing skills and developing new as well. It's great for me as a homeschool parent as someone else is now in charge of "PE". I do wish there was more space inside so parents could pop in and watch now and then but definitely no room for one parent of each player in a class.. and also, it's less distraction. You will see many parents in cars outside multi-tasking while kiddos are inside. It's a great time to bring your pup and take a walk too! If you have any ballplayer - baseball or softball, and any age, I encourage you to check this place out at least for the assessment you will get with a video and very valid comments on hitting and pitching to keep whether you continue on or not. The staff is great and has been easy to work with even as I had billing questions.. it's about the experience first and can work through anything else! Cost is pricey along with everything else these days, but worth it. For us, changing from Classic to Elite made sense.

The quality largely depends on who the instructor happens to be. The private lessons were very helpful albeit very expensive. For the group classes some of the instructors are very good and some don't offer much instruction at all. They don't seem to limit the size of the class so at times there are way too many kids for a single instructor to be effective with. As a result kids just go through the drills with very little to no individual instruction. They seem to struggle with keeping their accounting accurate have had a couple issues with that and it took a lot of time to straighten out some erroneous billing on their part. Overall though they have a good program but it could be better.

We live in Saratoga, and while there are a few places nearby with golf simulators, they're usually attached to golf stores, have very limited bays, or don't provide the kind of private environment where you can really focus on your game. Even though this was more than a half-hour drive, I was glad we made it. From the moment we arrived, everything felt well thought out. Parking was easy, the facility is in a quiet location, and the atmosphere immediately makes you want to stay awhile. The simulator bays are spacious, separated well enough that you don't feel like you're on top of the next group, and the TrackMan systems are outstanding. The feedback is incredibly useful if you're working on your swing, and it's just as much fun if you want to play a famous course with family or friends. One thing I really appreciated is that the experience comes first. There isn't a lot of retail clutter or distractions. You check in, head to your bay, and enjoy golf. That's exactly what I was looking for. I also spent a few minutes talking with the owner and his son. Both were incredibly friendly, approachable, and genuinely interested in hearing ideas for making the club even better. It's obvious this place was built by golfers who understand what other golfers want. While we were there, I noticed several families enjoying themselves, which reinforced my impression that this isn't just for serious players. It's equally great for beginners, families, and anyone looking for a fun indoor activity. I truly hope Under Par Golf Club is successful because it's exactly the kind of place our area needs. I'll definitely be coming back, and if they ever open a location closer to Saratoga, I'll probably become a regular. Until then, the drive is completely worth it.

We had not played virtual golf before but the proprietor was extremely helpful in getting us set up. He also provided several helpful tips to make the experience more enjoyable. It's great that you can bring your own clubs or they have clubs you can use. We chose to play Pebble Beach but there appeared to be 100s of courses to choose from. Even if you have never played golf before, I think you would have a good time at Under Par!
