September 2026 Sunday Fun day and Buffet Day! Went with some friends who invited me to join them for a Buffet to catch up on old times. We did two per table since their big tables were taken up with parties of 8 or more, and since we didn't want to wait we split our party of 4 into two smaller tables. I didn't know they had a Buffet here, so this was news to me. Our server was amazing, we gave him a 30% tip. Super on it, was running around getting his steps for sure. I thought the food was fresh, and good. Don't expect amazing food, just decent food. Highlights: the roasted chicken and the make your own omelet was great, the very fun chocolate fondue tower, and great brussel sprouts. Not so great: the salmon lox was very fishy, couldn't finish it. Lettuce was limp, and the prime rib was dry and the ham was even drier. Pizza was meh, and the mimosas I heard had really cheap champagne and tasted awful. My friends and I decided to try Pinstripes brunch and it was just ok, nothing to write home about. We came at around 11:30, and it wasn't too busy and we were sat right away. It was typical breakfast fare offerings, like bacon, sausage, eggs etc., and they had some higher quality protein items like chicken and prime rib. They also had roasted veggies that I really enjoyed, but other than that, everything was pretty subpar and mediocre. Since it wasn't busy when we went, I felt the food wasn't as fresh since they weren't being refilled frequently. The service was just okay. There were a lot of larger parties, and since we were a party of 3 it felt like we were a bit overlooked. It's good to try, but I think I'd rather go to an a la carte brunch place over pinstripes next time I'm feeling brunch food read more

My husband surprised me with a reservation at this location. My whole family drove out from San Jose for brunch and bowling/bocce. He made this reservation the week before and made sure to make it before 3pm so we could do their brunch menu. He confirmed the activities were open during brunch as well. The day of we were running about 10 minutes late from San Jose so I called to confirm it was okay to which the hostess said they had actually stopped brunch early since it was slow. I had called at 2:10pm and brunch was supposed to be done at 3pm. We were still going and decided it wasn't that big of a deal. Once there they told us our table still had the party before us eating so they'd have to make a table somewhere else. So not only did you give a big table away to someone else knowing our reservation was there but you also stopped brunch early without contacting us to tell us our brunch reservation was changing. Ok no big deal... Then the service. The waitress was okay. She didn't smile, didn't know the flavors of drinks, didn't know the specials. We had to ask the gentleman cleaning tables to have her come back so we can get dessert. On top of this, they told us we needed to be done eating and out by 5:15pm but we can't do this if our waitress keeps disappearing and doesn't ever bring our check. When they did come back our card was not in the check folder. When we asked them where it was they said they had to look for it. Suspicious if you ask me. My MIL works at a very fancy Santa Clara restaurant for over 30 years. She has never been so unimpressed that she wanted to speak to the manager. When she did he also seemed like he didn't care, didn't offer any other help and said they were all busy upstairs for a party. Not an excuse. Then tell my husband they don't have reservations for us if you don't workers or space to properly serve us. Will not be back again. 3 stars because the food was good. That's it. read more

I reserved a patio table for eight at Pinstripes San Mateo for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25. There was a DJ K-pop concert scheduled that evening, and we were looking forward to enjoying the event from the patio. When we arrived, however, we were told that all of the patio tables were fully booked. The hostess explained that our reservation was for the "terrace" on the second floor, rather than the downstairs patio. She offered us a terrace table upstairs. There were two tables set up overlooking the courtyard that appeared to accommodate approximately eight people each, but naturally, those tables were already reserved. She then suggested another table behind the bar, toward the back of the restaurant with no clear listening access to the music in the courtyard. However, we noticed that there were no place settings prepared for a party of eight, which made us question whether that table was actually intended for our reservation. The situation was quite confusing. Ultimately, we decided to sit outside in the courtyard so that we could still listen to the music. I later took another look at how I had made the reservation. The reservation page on my iPhone clearly showed Downstairs, Patio, Terrace. There was no option to select a second-floor terrace. I showed this to the Pinstripes manager, who explained that, on their internal reservation system, my reservation was listed as "terrace." I asked why there was a discrepancy between what I selected on the customer-facing reservation page and what appeared in their internal system. The manager acknowledged that this was an ERROR on the part of Pinstripes' reservation system IT staff. As a former Oracle Solution Architect, I understand that technical issues can and do happen. However, a discrepancy of this nature in a customer-facing reservation system can have a significant impact on the customer experience and, ultimately, customer trust. My wife and I have been frequent and loyal customers of Pinstripes since its opening in 2019. We have regularly visited Pinstripes with our friends and family over the years, which is why this experience was particularly disappointing. I understand that there has recently been a change in ownership. That said, I can speak to the fact that the prior operation was consistently very customer-focused, and that level of service was a significant part of why we continued to return and recommend Pinstripes to others. Nevertheless, the experience was disappointing, avoidable, and embarrassing for my guests. I hope Pinstripes will investigate this reservation-system issue and take steps to prevent other customers from experiencing the same confusion in the future. We hosted a private event at Pinstripes and were blown away from start to finish. It was my first time playing bocce ball, and it ended up being an absolute hit with everyone...easy to learn, super fun, and a great activity for groups. Rules posted on the wall. They were also incredibly accommodating, even handling same-day additions to our food order list without any added hassle. Our semi-private space was spacious, comfortable, and perfectly situated within their beautiful two-story venue. The whole place was decorated for the holidays, and the added bonus of a live DJ made the atmosphere even more energetic and festive. Huge shoutout to Gabe and his team!!! Truly a pleasure, they were stellar all night, attentive, friendly, and always a step ahead. And Alyson, our event coordinator, deserves special recognition. She's truly top-notch: organized, responsive, and an absolute pro at making everything run smoothly. I do wish there was just a few more items to select from on appetizers and for variety for our vegetarians. Particularly around the holidays but still all around great experience and people. They had customizable omelet station , waffle station , carving station with prime rib , salmon lox , shrimp cocktail , pizza , eggs, sausage , chicken apple sausage , salad , fries and chicken tenders , ciopinno, pasta, cheesecake , rice krispy , chocolate fondue station. This review is for the weekend brunch buffet. I love me a buffet! We went in Sept for my bday. There was a carving station, a lox and bagel station, healthy options, and omelette station, chicken and waffle station, chocolate fountain, and pizza. So many options! See my video! The chilaquiles station made a massive plate. If you're like me and want to try everything ask them for a 1/4 size serving. Everything was fresh and delicious since we went right when they opened. Best part my 10 year was free on Sunday! The location is right by where they have the huge Christmas during the holidays and the kids love to run around the fake grass outside and play on the rocks. Came here for a birthday party and the brunch buffet a few weeks ago and I gotta say, I enjoyed myself. The food was really good and I've always wanted to try prime rib, even more so when it's all you can eat. I was here during the holiday season so this place was decked out in the festive decor and Santa taking pictures with customers which was cool. I would absolutely come back here again on my own or with family just to eat. If I wanted to complain about something, I didn't think the desserts were that great. But y'know, it's whatever. I'm not a huge dessert guy anyway. There was a chocolate fountain though and I always think those are cool. But stick with the savory stuff for the most part. Side note, there used to be a Pinstripes in Walnut Creek that closed a few months ago. It didn't even last a year and I was disappointed that I never got to go. This used to be a great place to go. This review is mainly about their Sunday brunch food and service. We came over the weekend to celebrate my daughter's birthday. This used to be her favorite spot, so coming here every year had almost become a tradition. We made a reservation online and even noted that we were celebrating her birthday. So far, so good. We arrived and were seated in a timely manner, but that's where things started to go downhill. Our waiter didn't greet us, and nobody came by to take our drink orders. I saw several people get seated after us, and they were greeted and had their drink orders taken promptly, but no one came to our table. I eventually had to flag someone down just to get some service started. We also noticed that the food selection was not what it used to be. Many of the dishes seemed to have been scaled down or were missing altogether. I also overheard that they have new management, so perhaps that has something to do with the changes. Unfortunately, the birthday celebration was another disappointment. No one acknowledged my daughter's birthday, even though we had noted it on the reservation. They usually offer a sundae with a candle, but that never happened either. Finally, when we were ready to leave, no one came by with the bill. I had to find someone and ask them to track down our server. Even then, it took a very long time to finally get the bill. It's disappointing because this used to be one of our favorite places, especially for my daughter's birthday. Pinstripes is in a beautiful bustling location right next to San Mateo hillsdale mall. There is an ample amount of parking spaces right behind the restaurant. The restaurant itself is a two story structure downstairs you have the formal and causal indoor and outdoor seating. Upstairs you have a full bowling alley where you can order from the menu while you play. This place serves your typical burgers , pizza etc but also has some more unique options. I truly enjoy there happy hour menu they have great food options here to choose from. They get busy so service is a hit or miss but most of my experiences have gone well. read more

I can't believe I haven't written this review yet -- I've been to Pinstripe at least a dozen times, especially on Tuesdays (that buy-one-get-one entrée deal is chef's kiss). Our absolute favorite is the Superfood Salad -- the combo of kale, figs, and Humboldt Fog goat cheese is just perfect. Easily one of my all-time favorite salads anywhere. I ordered the Maple Glazed Salmon and my partner had the Spaghetti and Meatballs. Everything was delicious! The salmon dish was definitely the standout for me - salmon was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and we loved the seasoned vegetables and mediterranean grains on the side. Service was exceptional. Located outside the Hillsdale Mall. We dropped in for the Happy hour (Mon-Fri 3-6) on a Tuesday around 5:45pm. It wasn't that busy. Plenty of spots open at the bar. The Pinot Grigio from Canyon Road was really good. It's quite hard to find a flavorful Pinot Grigio. The Chardonnay was decent too. The reds like Cabernet and Pinot noir were too light. There were like 5 beers on tap. We tried the Drakes Juicy Hoot hazy ipa. It was eh. Not many beer options that we like. Didn't get to try any cocktails and appetizers on the happy hour. This place is bustling with birthday and reunion parties going on all day in their various ballrooms and for both bocce and bowling. 1) First kudos to the owner who actually read my last review when I commented on being charged for the birthday dessert that's normally complimentary for the birthday person. Thank you owner for giving us an hour of bowling and the complimentary birthday dessert. 2) Service was great. We had water glasses in our lane. Menus by each lane if you want to order food. Hand sanitizing stations available too. 3) Bowling: ramps for kids if needed are nearby and easily moved around. Variety of bowling ball weights to pick from. Timer is posted on the scoring screen to tell you how much time you have left. The lane shuts down when your time is up. Staff helpful when the bowling bins got stuck. Additional note: we received a phone call hours after we left asking us if we left an ipad there. No we did not. So glad I found Pinstripes to host our shower. Everything went smoothly from booking to the day of our event. We rented Ballroom A and it was perfect. Food was great, especially the calamari, bruschetta and lemon roasted chicken. The catered lunch was managed well and we didn't run out of food. Service was great. I had been here few times for their dinner specials which was a great deal and tasty. The Sunday prime rib night was great, 12oz for only $30.00! It's a huge bargain! But the negative was they don't offer rare cuts, only have medium rare, but very thick cut and rib was juicy, tender and tasty with all the seasonings. We also had their $75 with 1 appetizers, 2 entrees and 1 dessert. My hubby's steak was too raw but he ordered rare, but manager apologized and cooked a new piece of steak for him. Unfortunately, this time was too well done, but hubby ate it anyway because he's tired of waiting. When manager came to check if steak was okay, we showed her the steak which was almost well done. - My 150-person Wedding Review -- Ultimately...3.5 stars Honestly I thought long and hard about whether this would be helpful to anyone but decided to post this for anyone else looking for wedding / event venues that wanted my experience! TLDR: Having a wedding at Pinstripes was nice due to the convenient location (mall/parking), ceremony, restaurant/bar built into package, unique excitement of bowling/bocce to keep guests having fun throughout the night. However I don't think that they were used to having large weddings like this of 150 people which cost $30k for us --For the amount we paid, I would have expected them to be more anticipatory about the starter food running out, having the guaranteed bowling socks for all my guests, etc. If I didn't have my private day-of coordinators advocating for us, there would have been a lot of issues. PROS: - Location--easy parking at a mall, ability to have the ceremony and all the events in one place on the second floor of the restaurant - Starters: their apps such as bruschetta and tenderloin sliders, in addition to their fettuccine alfredo were delicious both at our tasting and also our wedding day-of! - The sales coordinator Mariela was quite patient and able to answer most of our and our day-of coordinator's questions during the tasting as well as via email leading up to the event. - Our guests really loved having activities such as bowling/bocce! - The bar did a great job of taking orders ahead when they realized how many people were waiting for drinks; they were able to accommodate our signature cocktails with lychee calpico and vitasoy lemon tea with $500 upcharge. CONS: - We were nervous because their company went bankrupt about 6mo into our wedding deposit and closed their Walnut Creek location; apparently the San Mateo location gets a lot of revenue so they assured us they weren't closing their location. - There is no official get-ready room at this event space; they were nice enough to let us use their sales office - They were also nice enough to let us drop supplies off the day ahead; one of the best men dropped off something the morning-of the wedding and got a bit of attitude...possibly from stress? - For our 150 guests, they ran our of buffet-style starters that we paid for within the first 20min and didn't have time during the 1hr cocktail time to refill so half of our guests weren't able to enjoy them. - We were assured that there would be bowling socks / shoes provided for all our guests; they ran out of bowling socks within the first 10-15min so some people were not able to get them. Especially the females in dresses. The sales coordinator had to run around just to find some for me, the bride. - We paid extra for our vendors to have our buffet style-food and saw they were ordering separately on the menu at the end of the night. - We selected chicken parm as our entree and it did not come with the tomato sauce (that we tried during the tasting prior) on the day-of, so some guests thought it was a bit dry. - We were also assured we would be provided to-go boxes just for our outside cake (per contract not for the buffet food for clear reasons), but at the end of the night, our day-of coordinator was finding other makeshift boxes to put cake into. Ultimately I had the best time at my big day because of my friends, private wedding coordinator team handling issues, and the fact that everyone had a good time from all the activities that were planned. It took nearly two years, but we finally made it back again! Pre-Mother's Day Brunch the week before the mad rush. We arrived at 10:30, which is when they open the doors on weekends. Our group was 3 seniors, 3 adults and 3 kids, ages 9, 11, & 13. While there is no discount for seniors, the price is still quite reasonable at $38 for adults. They weren't quite ready for service when guests began queuing up for food as some dishes had not yet been delivered but no one complained as there was still plenty to choose from. Service was pretty good. Our server and many others were "Johnny on the spot", taking away empty plates pretty quickly. Our water glasses were kept full, and mom got her cup of hot water. I did have to ask for a refill on coffee and when the original coffee was delivered, it came with sugar on the side as well as an empty cream dispenser. Good thing that I don't use cream. The layout of food is okay for the space but if all the guests got up at the same time to get food, there will be traffic jams. Most of the items had signs that accurately described the dishes. I didn't see signs where the biscuits were, not on the sausage gravy next to the biscuits. I take issue with the dish labeled as Cioppino. To me, Cioppino is a rich tomato-based broth with an assortment of seafoods such as fish, clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari and crab. Of course, every recipe is different based on tastes and availability of ingredients. I got a bowl early in the day and the only seafood in it was mussels. I dressed it up by adding in some peel and eat shrimp. Later, when I passed the Cioppino, I noticed clams, calamari and fish along with the mussels. The Prime Rib was super tender as it was last time. I appreciate that the peel & eat shrimp had been cleaned. It's a good thing that I didn't find the Biscuits n Gravy straight away or I may have filled up on that. I see that they haven't taken up my suggestion of soft-serve ice cream as there was none to be had. I did ask our primary server if there was ice cream in the house and he said that it was on the dinner menu and couldn't be served. I asked if it could be ordered if I wanted to pay for it and he said no that the chefs would get mad. It makes no sense to me that a business would have something in stock and not want to sell it, especially when desserts are usually such a high-margin item, but that's just me. Had a chance to experience their BOGO Tuesday specials. We were lucky as they said they were changing their Tuesday special to not include certain items, but we happened to get it with everything. The wings were good (preferred the sweet chili glaze over the BBQ). The full rack of ribs were surprisingly meaty and good. The salmon was perfectly cooked and not overdone. It's a really nice hang out space for a quick drink and bite. They also have brunch buffet over the weekend. We came in on cinco de mayo and got to try the $5 margaritas, it was very refreshing. Love the splash of pomegranate. The happy hour margherita flatbread and calamari were yummy too. Happy hour is 3-6pm on weekdays. Service was alright, most of the staff were pretty nice. read more

We visited Pinstripes for Mother's Day brunch and unfortunately it wasn't the experience we were hoping for. The restaurant seemed very understaffed, and throughout the two hours we were there, many of the food items stayed empty for long periods without being replenished. Since the buffet was split between two levels, our entire family, including those helping with a newborn, constantly had to go downstairs just to find available food, which was also limited at times. The protein selection felt pretty minimal with mainly prime rib and ham, while most of the buffet consisted of carbs and desserts. On top of that, three of our family members ended up experiencing stomach issues afterward, which we suspect may have come from the chocolate fountain area. We've celebrated Mother's Day here before and were really looking forward to coming back, so it was disappointing to leave feeling let down. Hoping this was just an off day, but sadly we probably won't be choosing Pinstripes again for future Mother's Day celebrations. read more

Nice venue for a party! My friend had a kids party here on a Sunday. It was really good brunch food which included Made to order omelets, variety of pizzas, salads, chocolate fountain, prime rib and assorted meats, pasta, Brussels sprouts, chicken and waffles, sliced watermelon, seafood stew, smoked salmon etc. a very nice spread but nothing that stood out. Most people had an ayce option rather than a sit down Chinese meal which I wholeheartedly agree. Staff were very courteous and professional. We had a room upstairs with 7 tables for 50ish people. tl;dr One of the best deals for families on Sunday night! (kids eat free, $30 prime rib dinner). For some reason, I always equated pinstripes as more a bowling joint then a restaurant. However, decided to make a reservation after hearing about their Sunday deal. Easy to make reservations for large groups and family friendly tables. Kids menu has your usual items (pizza, noodles) and also comes with a drink and dessert. The $30 prime rib comes with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. I had low expectations given the cost and experience at HOPR, but was pleasantly surprised! The temperature of the prime rib varied across the different orders (medium well to medium), but the flavors were solid and for the price, it was quite delicious. It will definitely be on my list again for Sunday meals! read more
