Recently we had the occasion to venture away from home to see a new movie at the Livermore 13 Cinema West. Here are my impressions: First, I got an offer from Fandango to attend a screening of the new Wicked film, Wicked for Good. Without reading the fine print, I clicked on the accept button and found myself committed to driving from Modesto to Livermore for the show. That's OK as we enjoy the nearby Cattlemen's Restaurant and so went there for dinner beforehand. Life was good. After dinner, we scooted over to the parking near the theater and heading to the entrance. Unfortunately our Google took us the long ways around (when going from the parking to the entrance, cross the street, then turn LEFT to get into the place. Right works but will double the time and steps. From the start, we found the staff friendly and quite helpful, the automation to convert our printed code to actual tickets a little challenging at first but if we came a second time, we would have it nailed. The place was well run, clean, (bathrooms and theater) with the quality of the sound system spot on, and the screening, state of the art. ....please read this! Went on a date with my wife last night to 730pm showing of "Rental Family" in theater 9. The sound system was horrible during the early trailers and I was hopeful that it would cut over to better speakers for the movie...especially since the screen did some big full screen "Dolby Atmos" notification as the movie was starting. 1: sound system is obviously blown and audio garbled. Get some professional resources in there to evaluate, not an employee making popcorn. Invest some time and care into your product and presentation. I walked out as it was so bad. 2. Disappointed to see other reviews in same thing a month ago? What the hell? Close theater 9 until it's fixed or offer a disclaimer to patrons. This is just poor business to keep selling tickets with a known issue that you said you'd look into. 3. To me, this feels like your revenue in theater 9 is more important than doing the right thing. We came here to watch "The Housemaid." The ticket buying process was relatively easy, except I find the whole "scan the QR code to download the tickets" deal to be a hassle. Just print them without prompting me, please. The theater does show some signs of age, as well, but the seats still recline and remain comfortable. They're also nicely spaced out, so as to minimize noisy neighbors. Overall, solid movie theater. read more

Came here to watch Heretic on a Saturday night, and had such an awesome time. Not only was the movie really good, suspenseful and unique, but the theater met and even exceeded all of my needs for an ideal movie-going experience. The lobby was clean and modern looking, and the concessions stand had plenty of options on the menu for snacks and drinks, and no lines for waiting. I got some nachos, and they gave me the option of cheese poured over the chips or served on the side. I opted for the latter, and was able to enjoy a sealed bag of tortilla chips with good-sized sides of nacho cheese and jalapenos, along with a box container to mix it together the way I liked. Everything was fresh and tasty. The staff at this theater worked efficiently both at the ticket booth and food counter. The seats inside the auditorium were comfy and reclined to almost a full lay-flat position. In addition, swivel tables at each seat, lots of space in each row, great sound and picture on the screen, and comfortable temperature inside the theater on a cold November night put me in a state of contentment. So I've been going to the theater for a very long time and a few years back I would've given it five stars but I think I have to give it a 4 for right now The staff is always very kind and amazing and I think that we should support local theaters But something in the screen quality has aggressively changed for the worse It's hard to describe but a lot of the screens seem to be darker and the way that they've positioned some of the seats force you at the top row to look at this large wall that blocks part of the screen Like it's a good theater but you really do have to figure out which auditoriums have better screens and that's a little bit of an annoying process Also there seems to be an issue with the overall lighting where it doesn't go all the way down during the previews and even when the movie starts sometimes you have to go tell someone to turn the lights off read more

I love coming to Livermore 13. The theaters are nice and the smaller ones have reclinable seats. They serve beer and wine and plenty of other (usual) snacks and drinks. The location is right downtown, in fact, it seems to anchor the eastern end of first street. The staff are kind and I the variety of films is great. I have never been to such a dirty theater, floor l/counters filthy everywhere, bathroom filthy, maybe they are short staffed to not have someone dedicated to keep up the cleaning throughout the day, I can't image the theater at night after a full day of being open! This theater now officially sucks. We just waited 20 minutes to get scanned in with prepaid tickets and never got concessions because they "changed the system" and can't do a damn thing. When things like that happen in business you close down and not try to make money giving your customers a bad experience. I asked to talk to the manager and was told he was too busy and it wasn't his fault. Everything here has been getting worse at a steady pace. The seats are comfortable and there's ample room to stretch your legs. Parking across the street is easy peasy. Get a free membership card and earn point for free goodies. Never been to this movie theater and my best friend and I wanted to catch a movie. We wanted to watch "Flash" the movie, parking was free on the street or at the parking lot is free as well. I went with my son to see a The Trap and did not realize my wedding ring was loose. I have to say the folks here were SO nice. They helped me look for my ring so thoroughly. They were so kind. I can't imagine a nicer bunch of people. I wish I had not lost my ring, but if I had to lose it, it was very nice to meet these lovely people and have them try to help me. I also like the theaters very much and never go anywhere else. It's so nice to have a theater so close to home- and one that is so comfortable. Seats are confutable, theater rooms are small and I consider it nice. But what really gives this a 2 stars, well I watched the movie Kandahar last night, it was there last show time at 10:30pm, the screen is not align with the projector. The keystones are way off. I will have a picture posted of the issue, the top arrows indicate the distance between the projector view and the actual gray screen. You can see that it looks like the projector is at an angle, the bottom of the screen view is closer to the gray screen. I run a Sony projector in my house as my everyday tv experience, it's the $14,999 that I purchased in Japan last June so it's not you can tell me that I don't know how they work or try to give me an excuse about how there was an exit door and they removed it like the excuse the manager was giving me last night. I know my projectors, I also know my audio gear, So I know this is not normal but I feel like they don't maintain there projectors that often. Literally looks better in my house then the cinema. Assuming the equipment they use is over 50k dollars but it don't look like it. read more

I chose not to stay for my showing in theater 3 because I noticed several bright green spots that persisted through the preroll ads. I snapped a clear picture to bring to the attention of the staff. They knew about it, we worked out a refund, and when I asked how long it's been an issue for them they told me "a few weeks". Yikes! I also noticed as I was walking out that I was shorted a few bucks on the refund, but the staff working was understanding and made it right- I guess the fees aren't refunded by default. So if you go to theater 3, change your mind because of the green pixels, and take a refund, double check your receipts. I'll be back eventually, but probably not for Alien Romulus this time around. read more

This theater isn't run down at all- all the seats are the fancy recliners, and there's more than enough room in each row for everyone to fully recline and still be able to walk past. Each seat does have a little swivel table for food/drinks, which is either a pro or a con depending on if it annoys you. Concessions are expensive but def not more than any other theater, movie theater concessions are just expensive. The $5 Tuesday movies are a bargain and a great way to get people going to the movies. read more

Livermore 13 is a good-sized, independent movie theater (i.e., not part of Century or Regal) that's conveniently located right off a freeway exit and right across the street from a free parking garage. We came here since we wanted a theater with reclining seats for the 2.5-hour Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Our usual go-to theaters were sold out on a very hot Saturday. Theater 1 does have electric reclining seats, along with a movable table for food. However, only the first three rows from the front have this feature. I found the sound system good but man watching a movie from the third row still seemed too close! Note also that the theater is old school in that you still need paper tickets. I bought online using Fandango and you still need to show your credit card to get a ticket. This theater lacks a scanner which is really unusual these days. Overall a solid theater - big and clean. However, I prefer Century Blackhawk where all seats are reclining and Regal Dublin for sheer size and modern features. Livermore 13 has the advantage that tickets seem to be cheaper here and parking is so convenient. read more

Nothing bad to say about this place. Always clean and decent. The chairs are pretty nice and comfy.

This is my go-to place for movies. It's clean, and the aisles to go into theaters are very clear and easy to see and maneuver. The staff has pretty much always been nice too. Plenty of parking in the parking structure just across the street as well. I recommend buying the tickets online before going in though, just to reserve a spot. I saw the new Mission Impossible movie this time and it was a great movie but it felt like the audio was a little muffled coming out during the movie as well as some of the teasers prior to the film. Also the chairs are very comfy and some of the theater we even have reclining chairs which is amazing, but there were more than a few very squeaky chairs that could be heard across the entire theater we were in. Every time someone shifted positions there was an intense loud squeaking noise, including my own. Besides that, great experience! read more

I am giving a one star because of the way the manager on the night of 9/3 handled a concern. The movie volume was really loud. The staff person was not surprised and had been hearing this and said she would have it turned down. When walking out the movie my ears were ringing. I asked to speak to the manager and all she said was they show movies and must keep volume at the movie studios requirements. This is not true. She clearly does not understand and maybe not been informed or trained by Cinemark theaters about how film makers are not regulated. Film maker/ studios are abusing digital technology and creating movies with dangerous volume levels. Theaters can turn the volume down. This is a gem of a theater. I love that the seats are recliner and have little trays for each seat. This makes for a good movie theater if you are bringing kids. It wasn't overly crowded, lines were short and went quickly, staff was friendly. Popcorn was also very good. Def recommend this location. read more

Movie theater is great facility wise but the reason for low rating is staff. I came in today with my 2 autistic kids and it was a special treat for them. We went to order food and my kiddos don't like anything with carbonation so we wanted to get waters. Cynthia at the concession stand gave us little styrofoam cups. I asked for lids for them so they wouldn't spill on the kids. She said she didn't have lids. She said she would have to charge me $6/cup since they "take inventory on them". Such a bummer as we live in the town and we will be going to Dublin moving forward. Very disappointed. read more
