Awesome breakfast place. We hosted a work breakfast at this place and they were so accommodating and good to us. Everyone was happy with their food and the service provided. I got the breakfast burrito and honestly couldn't finish it. It was a lot of food and very reasonably priced. The oatmeal was very good too. I ordered a scramble with ground beef and it was basically a hamburger patty that was not chopped up very well. The waffle had an excessive amount of confectioners sugar on it. Once we asked for our check the prices were different than what was on the menu. When we asked about it the waitress indicated they had lowered there prices and likely didn't change it in there register system. She did give us the credit but overall I don't think that it was worth $50 for two people when I just had breakfast for 2 in PB for $80 with alcohol included. read more

5 stars all the way!! If you stay in any of the hotels nearby I highly recommend you stopping by and dine here. From the moment you enter you are greeted with a big friendly smile. They are fast taking your drink orders, checking on you frequently if you have any questions about the menu. I also appreciate that they have great selection on kids menu with the option of fresh fruit as well! The interior is bright, open and clean. And also even though they were only two servers on the floor. We never felt we had to wait on anything whether for refills for our drink, food, checking on us or the bill. Stellar service!!!! Hubby chose their baby back ribs and I chose their salmon. I do appreciate their dishes. Being on vacation you miss good homemade food that's hearty, fresh and just good. This place all delivered it. Looking for a quick dinner and we came here which was 3 minutes from our hotel. It's such a cute little spot! The food was delicious, I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and I asked for broccoli to be added (they don't always have it but they did tonight) and it was soooo good! My hubby ordered the special and it was the halibut with mashed potatoes and veggies. 11/10 recommend! I really wanted to try French onion soup, and to try this restaurant for the first time. Along with the soup I ordered the garlic fries. Some of the best garlic fries in the area. Perfect crunch and smothered in garlic. My nephew got the chicken tenders, he loved the batter. It was like fish n chips batter. Atmosphere was cozy, and service was quick and delightful. I went through the Yelp reviews on my visit to Monterrey, and the stroganoff sounded really good, so I thought I'd give it a try, but when I went in, they had a Paella special going on, and I am a sucker for Paella. The paella was excellent. I ate every bit, including all of the broth. I also had the lentil soup, which was very flavorful. So, since I didn't get the stroganoff, I went back the next night. It was everything the reviews said. Overall, I would give the entrees a 5. I would have liked a bit of spice in the soup, but not enough to downgrade the food. The one thing that would have made the experience outstanding would have been a piece of garlic bread to sop up the remaining broth from the Paella, because I felt just a tad too guilty to lick the plate clean. Nothing short of a spectacular meal from start to finish! The beautifully grilled artichokes were the best I've ever eaten. Charred to perfection, incredibly fresh. Seafood Linguine was equally amazing. Super meaty clams ( the excellent server said they come from Morrow Bay) perfectly cooked salmon, shrimp and mussels served in a light tomato sauce with linguine-a meal you search out and dream to find. Loved the large serving starter appetizer of clams, mussels in a remarkably seasoned broth. The garlic bread is also worth a loud mention-fabulous. Service was top notch. Update since 2016 this restaurant has really gone down hill. Picked up eggs benedict this morning with a side of bacon. 1. Never watch a bitter chef prepare your food, the way that he slopped everything into the container was awful (see picture) 2. Who prepares eggs benedict without a buttered and toasted english muffin, apparently Googie's now does. I don't mean it was lightly toasted, it wasn't toasted at all, pure raw english muffin. 3. Bacon tasted like dirty oil. I know why as I watched the cook take the bacon out of the deep fryer. This left a terrible dirty oil taste to the bacon. 4. About the only thing good in this was the hash browns, the hollandaise sauce tasted bitter and not smooth, sort of chunky. This was on the Classic eggs benedict. Can only give them 1 star now unless they get their cook to start producing food like they did in 2016 read more

Our service took a long time and we had a party of 6 but our 2 kids didn't eat so it was really just 4 plates of entrees we were waiting on. I ordered the corned hash and the portion for that was large that I really think you can share the corned hash dish. Anyway, it is not your typical corned hash. The slices are big and the potatoes are halved or quartered potatoes. My husband's country fried steak was kind of soggy by the time he got it. If you want something fast, order the beignets to share first. I probably won't come back here. The servers were hard at work and tried their best amidst slow food service. They charged an automatic 18% gratuity charge on our check for a party of 6 so look out for that! read more

Over the years I had gone to Googie Grill a few times for breakfast and it was good. Consistently good benedicts which is what I usually order for breakfast. Any one establishments breakfasts are never enough to lure me into complete loyalty because there are many many fabulous breakfast places on the peninsula. In the last couple years I had been going to Googie more regularly for dinner with friends because it's close to our houses and it quickly became our favorite. Every meal I have had at Googies (except for one) was delicious. I have tried about a dozen meals and overall have really enjoyed them all. My favorite go tos are the Beef Stroganoff, the Frikadeller, the salmon dinner and there's a pasta dish that's to die for but it is VERY rich. For lunch the hamburger, french dip and Asian Chicken salad are my favs. My friend swears by the fried chicken. I see it ordered all the time and they are often sold out of it so I trust it's fantastic but I'm not a big fried food fan so I haven't tried it. The only miss I had was with the one time with the Sticky Asian Drums and Wings. Sounded like a great combination but it came out too hot (temperature- wise) to eat (and I was hungry!) and the chicken skin of that particular order seemed unusually thick and I am not a fan of chicken skin. I would probably give it another shot tho. read more

They do have lunch options as well, burgers, sandwiches and other items.We ordered 4 different things and everyone left happy. The food: I ordered the breakfast burrito with chicken and it was huge! I wish they could have put steak in it but that was not an option. The chicken did suffice. The potatoes on the side were good as well. My wife got the salmon eggs Benedict and enjoyed it as well. This place is a pretty small restaurant that stays open during the times that normal breakfast/brunch places closes (after 2:30 pm). They have a selection of burgers, sandwiches, and even breakfast items at lunch. Beignets are apparently only available during breakfast before 11 am, so if you come here for that, gotta come early. read more

Went there about a little more than two weeks ago when they were renovating their kitchen, 1. We called the number on their regular location and no one answered, 2. the website did not say they were renovating the kitchen but they were temporarily located at the Moose Lodge. Driving wasn't the inconvenient but rather the lack of proper communication and no one answering the phones. My hubby and I took the chance to go anyway in the hopes that it would be opened fortunately it was. The host waited for us to come to the front instead of greeting us for starters. I ordered their regular burger--Googie burger with cheese onions etc and a side of sweet potatoes. My hubby ordered their fish and chips. The host stated it would be a wait which was fine. What I found to be unprofessional was him stating that his cook was behind because "it was his fault he wanted to cook on his own today and I told him it may just get busy". Terrible. This should not solemnly fall on the cook, the cook isn't the owner. This sort of verbiage should never be expressed to the client it is very unprofessional. We waited, finally obtained our food. The host emphasized he gave me extra sweet potatoes which I sincerely thought how sweet and so I responded "aww you did not have to thank you" he tried to be funny and hip I guess, which seemed more cringe and stated "woman I can do whatever I want!" Um yea not funny just weird. Let me just say my hubby does not even call me that either it felt like he was doing the most. Anyway we finally got home, and I took a bite of the burger it was greasy as could be I had asked for it well cooked-- it was not, the sweet potatoes tasted old. Let me just say when you cook at home often you know the difference between new fries, one day old fries, and old day fries with old oil. Pretty gross. I did not end up finishing the burger and I certainly did not eat the remaining sweet potatoes fries my stomach hurt immediately. My hubby's fish had a consistency to that of calamari I have never tasted a fish with so little batter in the style of "fish and chips" and with a squishy texture. I can tell you an hour later I truly got sick. It is because of this I will definitely not be eating meat anymore. I could not down anything for two days. I will certainly not be going back at all not sure how anyone can eat there. Please know burgers aren't supposed to taste like that or worse make you sick. I have never had this issue with in and out or island burger. I will definitely stick to simply cooking my own sweet potatoes now or just go to island burger. read more

Found this place on Yelp after getting grossed out with what was placed out for breakfast at the hotel. My spouse got the Irish Benedict (had large chunks of corn beef instead of the traditional Canadian Bacon) which she enjoyed. I got my usual breakfast fare of Chicken Fried Steak and eggs. The eggs were cooked to a perfect over easy and the Chicken Fried Steak was thick and flavorful. We also tried the beignets and really enjoyed them. This place is good and has alot of potential however there are some things that should be addressed to stay as fair as possible. THE SERVICE : one of the best experiences I've ever had from a server , the gentleman was very relatable and very knowledgeable about the menu . Always made us feel heard and made sure our cups were never empty and kept our table clean (removing used dishes without request always a plus ). This would be the saving grace and what will keep me coming back. THE FOOD: I ordered the sand dab and it was really good just wished the portion was a little bigger for the fish. The rice was over powered by the lemon juice , I dont know if the chef squeezed one over the entire plate but lemon sand dab and lemon rice was was a little over the top for me . In Monterey and accidentally found this place near our hotel. I am not a breakfast person at all but here we are. I ordered the shrimp and avocado Benedict. OMG! This dish could turn me into a breakfast person. The hollandaise sauce was the best I've ever had. The eggs were poached to perfection and the baby shrimp were tender. I opted for the fruit instead of potatoes. Hubby ordered the corned beef hash with poached eggs on to and the Googie potatoes. He said the bell pepper was crisp and harder than the corned beef! This means the pepper was perfect and not soggy and the hash was super tender. It melted in his mouth. They were real chunks of corned beef not from a can. His eggs were poached perfectly too. His wheat toast was an inch think and he was given2 slices with a little container of blueberry jam which was excellent. This place is a keeper! Thank you Googie! read more
