Came in a Sunday, 9/6/26 for early brunch for 9ppl. I made reservations online through Yelp. When I arrived, I checked in and they said that we will be seated shortly. Waited for awhile and so I walked inside and there was a kiosk to show who's next and saw my name with 16 guest. Came to talk to the hostess and she was like someone called and said you had that many guests, I told her I only had 9ppl and they are all here. She was very nice and said we actually have a table ready, we will set up and you can be seated. Seated and our server (forgot his name) was nice. What we ordered: Chicken and waffles- was ok French toast with 2 eggs and bacon- French toast was eh, not fluffy as I would like. Waffles with 2 eggs and bacon- and ordered a fruit bowl on side - was good Biscuit and gravy - was good Chocolate banana bread French toast- was good with fresh bananas Bloody Mary drink- was good Overall good was ok. Server was really nice and attentive.
While spending a few days up North, breakfast time rolled around, and thanks to the Yelp community, we found Butter House. It's a nice little spot across from all the auto dealerships with a welcoming, family-style atmosphere. The staff was friendly, the customer service was good, and they have plenty of breakfast options, including breakfast cocktails. Everything is made to order, and our food came out hot and fresh. There were so many good choices that it took us a few minutes to decide. We started with Mimosas. My wife went with the Carnitas Scramble and hash browns, while I ordered the Breakfast Fried Rice with ham. Both dishes were on point, and those little hash brown cakes were delicious! We enjoyed it so much that we had to come back a second time. This time, my wife ordered the Pork Belly Fried Rice with hash browns, and I went with the Carne Asada Fried Rice, plus a side of pancakes. Once again, everything was good. The only hiccup was that my wife's pork belly came on the side instead of mixed into the fried rice, so she had to cut it up and mix it in herself. The pancakes, though? Perfectly cooked. Nice crunchy exterior with a soft, moist center. Just the way I like them. Overall, Butter House is a great breakfast spot with good food, a nice atmosphere, and friendly service. The fact that we went twice during the same trip says a lot. Next time I'm up North, Butter House will definitely be on the breakfast list!
A cute spot for breakfast or brunch with the family, friends or even by yourself too. We tried the famous lumpia, which is massive compared to other lumpia we've tried. The portions are also massive, which just means more leftovers for the next day (which tastes just as great). Our server was friendly, quick to refill our coffee, and provided great service on a busy Sunday morning.
So on the last day of my 36 hour Monterey golf trip,the boys and I needed a breakfast spot before we teed off and they mentioned to me this bomb Filipino breakfast spot and I just knew we had to check it out. We headed to The Butter House on Fremont Blvd, in Seaside. The parking at this lot was substantial as they share a lot with a few other businesses-so that was great. When we arrived it was a large room with many customers. There was no wait for our party of 6 due to the size of the restaurant with many tables in the room. Once I took a look at their menu,I was a bit overwhelmed with the sheer volume of choices but I decided to try something I would truly love,as I'm not overly familiar with Filipino breakfast items,but what Ive had so far I've truly loved. I went with Marciana's Breakfast Fried Rice ($16.50) and a single lumpia($3.05) The lumpia was just super delicious-it featured ground beef,onions,carrots,green beans,bean sprouts, and was served with a sweet chili sauce on the side. It's a great item,as many in my group ordered them and some even ordered extra to bring home. Now the fried rice dish featured butter fried rice with bacon,sausage,& ham,It also included soy sauce,onions,garlic and topped with two eggs served over-hard. I loved this dish so much that it's irritating. I'm irritated because I know this menu is full of banger items too, but I may never find out because I can't imagine ordering anything else--that's how much I enjoyed this dish In closing, if you ever find yourself in the Monterey area and want to try an awesome Filipino breakfast--get down to The Butter House-their quality is super high.
I was down in Monterey house sitting for a month so wanted to try a local spot for brunch with my wife for our 10th Anniversary celebration weekend. The reviews are great. Maybe a little too great because the experience left me wondering if they were all posted by a marketing agency. The photos on the reviews are all a little too perfect imo. Conspiracies aside, the food was awful. I just don't get how this many people could share amazing post after amazing post and jive that with my in person experience. We ordered the corned beef hash. It needed salt. How?!!! Plus they basically only used beef and potato?! The menu said it had peppers and onion so when we asked, they brought some out on the side?!! Terrible. I mean it made it taste a little better but it was still not good. Then, the "lumpia" was more like an oil soggy egg roll. Too oily to even eat because literally it was dripping oil. So gross. Clearly someone not from the lumpia making culture made these. I do not recommend this place at all. Even the coffee was terrible. Only saving grace and the second star comes from the fresh squeezed orange juice. Delicious but come on ... smh ... does not save this place at all. Sorry, I really wanted to like this but this was my experience. Hopefully it was just a weird day.
9/7 Visited this spot today my first time here while in Seaside Ca. I made a reservation before going up there. The wait was about 30 mins not to bad it was busy a lot of people. We ordered the shrimp and grits, Colorado omelette and all meat scrambled and a pineapple mimosa. My boyfriend and his father liked their dishes my dish shrimp and grits w tomato sauce it was different was t a fan of the tomato sauce. Other than that the food was good, inside was nice and clean and the waiter was good.
Decided to try this place out the morning after visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Overall decent, nothing out of the ordinary. Personally tried the chicken chilaquiles. Unfortunately the chicken was very bland, the salsa was very tomato like and not spicy at all. Kids had their waffles with eggs and sausage which they loved.
The service was fast for this place! The moment we ordered it was 5-10 minutes and the food was out! I would recommend getting on a wait list during the weekend because it was packed and super busy.
We were up in Carmel/Monterey for graduation and ended up at The Butter House twice that's how good it was! The first time, there were 11 of us and we ordered different things off the menu, but what stood out as one of the most delicious things was the 'pork belly fried rice' it was so delicious that we went back a couple days later and order it again! The pork belly was perfectly cooked and some of the very best I ever had; it's crispy around the edges and melts in your mouth. We also ordered the "Elvis" sandwich; peanut butter, banana, bacon, and honey. A few ordered loco moco, and a few ordered pancakes. Their cinnamon roll is gigantic and about six people shared one of them! To be honest, everybody raved about the food and drinks. We had mimosas with guava juice and a bloody mary with gin and it was ALL excellent! We went back the second time and ordered more of the pork belly fried rice and a cinnamon roll.

this place was definitely one of my bf's and my favorite meals in monterey since everything was super yummy! we came here on a thursday morning and the place was crowded but there was no wait. also, the waitresses were so kind and attentive despite it being so busy, continuously asking us if we needed anything else or refills for water. much appreciated !!! foods: - lumpia: came out HOT and crispy! we had to cut it to let it cool down, but it was really good and crunchy and paired well with the sweet and sour sauce! it can get a bit oily, and we did see a bit of oil just pooled on the plate, so i'd probably limit to just one if you're not a big fan of oily foods. - pork belly fried rice: the pork belly was crispy and savory and paired so well with the fried rice and egg! the fried rice has bell pepper in it, which surprised me bc i'd never eaten that combo before, but i still enjoyed it! this was my bf's favorite dish and he kept talking about it the rest of the day LOL - lemon curd & blueberry pancakes: i absolutely LOVED this !! i'm usually not a big fan of sweet breakfast items, but this one was perfectly not too sweet and the lemon curd added such a nice tanginess that helped cut through the sweetness. i also loved how the pancakes were filled with blueberries and had more blueberries on top, so there was no skimping! we were surprised that we finished it all bc we usually don't eat all of our pancakes, so that really says how yummy it was hehe.
It's a bit tough to describe this place. Overall, I'd consider the experience positive with some important things to note. This place does breakfast, and the American side of the menu which I got to taste, was executed well. I'd go back for that. For those curious about the Filipino aspect, I wouldn't have high expectations. Their lumpia wasn't super special. Compared to the thousands of lumpia I've had in the US and across the world, they were just OK. For the price they were charging per piece, I wasn't the biggest fan. They didnt blow me away in flavor. They were also a bit burnt/ over fried for my liking. I also ordered the pork belly fried rice. Definitely Filipino inspired, with the adobo inspired sauce. Both the pork itself and the sauce were sweeter than I expected. The fried rice as well was disappointing. It was neither Filipino style for breakfast (sinangag) or a typical Chinese fried rice. It was an Americanized heavy-on-the-butter style. When it comes to viewing with a Filipino lens, it was a bit boring. I dont mind twists on Filipino food. There's plenty of it and plenty I've enjoyed, including on my numerous trips to the motherland. Unfortunately, the ones here were a bit underwhelming. I'd go back here for the amazing staff and limiting myself to the American traditional breakfast. For those hoping for a Filipino breakfast that shares more authentic flavors, I'd keep very low expectations.
What is it about this spot that people like? Because, for me, it just isn't the food. We've been here a few times now, and every visit has been pretty much the same. The food just lacks flavor, and there's nothing that really stands out. Honestly, it's the kind of breakfast I feel like I could make at home. The pancakes were just okay, and while the French toast was probably the best thing we tried, it was way too sweet for my taste. The portions are pretty good, and the service has always been friendly and fast, which I definitely appreciate. But overall, I just don't think it's worth the wait or the price. I really wanted to understand the hype, but after giving it multiple chances, it just wasn't for me.

A few weekends ago we were on our way to the Monterey Bay Aquarium but we were unable to get a table because there was a long wait and we had hungry kids. We stayed in Monterey this weekend and were able to come again but at a different time with no wait time. We are really glad we came back to try it. It is so cute inside! Everyone who works there is so friendly, they seem to really enjoy working there. The food was really good, way better than the pictures. Very cute and would love to come back again when we are visiting to try something different. If you come and there is a long wait, there is a reason for it. read more
2nd time here and still good Got the Filipino Breakfast (spam, Portuguese sausage, eggs, and fried rice) with a side of brown gravy. All was very good... but... the fried rice was not like the "Filipino" garlicky fried rice I grew up with. I would probably pass on that next time and just get plain. Service was the same as last time - excellent. Everyone there is super nice, friendly, and attentive. Cesar O was our greeter and server and he was awesome! It is a pretty big place - good for groups and there is ample parking, both lot and street. Last time I was here I had the Loco Moco - I didn't do a review back then but I'll tell ya... that was the best !! All in all good food ... great venue... nice staff. Would I go back? Sure read more

It took a long time to get in, however the service was consistent and quick. The coffee was amazing. Shortly after order the food maybe 3-5 minutes it was already at our table, and it was amazing. I never normally order a sandwhich for breakfast but I'm so happy I did. It was flavorful, fresh, soft and more importantly cooked to perfection. It was so juicy and pulled apart like nothing. The cinnamon was great, just be aware there is a lot of frosting so if you don't like cream cheese frosting it may not be your cup of tea. read more

I was in the area for a girl's trip. And this place popped out to me as I was looking for something tasty for breakfast. This place definitely satisfied my breakfast craves. We got the Marciana's breakfast fried rice. It was absolutely delicious. The perfectly cooked spam with the savory fried rice hit the spot. The pork belly fried rice was amazing. The pork belly was crispy and tender. The lemon curd and blueberry pancakes were yummy. The lemon curd is house made and it was sweet and creamy. The service was good. The ambience provides a spacious breakfast vibe. It can get packed quite quickly. This is a must breakfast place if you are in the area. read more
The shipping and grits were delicious and I loved that they have a wide variety of mimosa flavors during brunch. I had the peach bellini and my friend had the lavendar mimosa which were very good. The service was great also. read more
Delicious Filipino breakfast. I had the eggs and fried rice since I don't eat meat but it was delicious and I enjoyed my watermelon mimosa. Big portions and staff was friendly and attentive. Food tasted fresh and authentic. My husband enjoyed his meal and so did everyone at the table. Would eat here again read more

We really enjoyed our breakfast at The Butter House. Cozy ambiance and the staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The menu offers a great blend of classic American breakfast with a Filipino twist. Also loved the butter theme because who doesn't love butter. They have cute stickers and apparel. "You're my butter half" stickers are too cute. I had the breakfast burrito- I'm vegetarian, and they were so thoughtful to swap in avocado and mushrooms instead of meat, absolutely delicious! The breakfast potatoes hit the spot. My friend had the pork belly fried rice and loved it. A satisfying meal to fuel a day of exploring Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey Bay. Highly recommend if you're in the area! read more

Hey there Party People The Butter House is a place that is unassuming and has that neighborhood diner feel. It should be featured on Guy Fiery's "Diners Drive-ins and Dives" The place is always packed so we joined the "wait list" online while we were driving in When we got to the restaurant we only had to wait 5 minutes. Our waiter Cesar was great, very personable as well as efficient. The food came out quickly and was paced well since we had an appetizer. Started with the Lumpia which is basically a Philippino style egg roll. Super delicious and very large so you only need to order one trust me. I had the Carne Asada Fried rice. Their Verde sauce was nice and tangy. The meat was seasoned very well and there was a ton of it on the rice. I great dish I would order again. Hubby had the French Dip sandwich. He said the bun was nice and soft and the sandwich was wonderful. The meat was very lean, which he is very picky about. The fries were off the hook just crunchy enough and not over salted. If you're in Monterey and looking for a great breakfast to get your day started this is the place to go. Be kind to one another read more

I was visiting the area and came here for brunch on a Tuesday. I was looking forward to try their garlic rice as it was suggested while using AI. The food was okay but my pork belly fried rice was too salty. It wasn't the rice that was salty; it was the pork belly. The lumpia was okay as well. For me, I felt that it missed the mark as filipino cuisine. I'm willing to try again but for the American breakfast. read more

Stopped by The Butter House in Monterey for brunch and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The place was busy, which is always a good sign, but service never felt overwhelmed. Staff were friendly, attentive, and kept everything moving smoothly. Here's what we ordered: California Benedict Rich and satisfying with perfectly poached eggs, creamy avocado, crispy bacon, and a well balanced hollandaise. The side potatoes were seasoned well and had a great crisp. Corned Beef Reuben Golden and crispy on the outside with tender corned beef inside. The ratio of meat to sauerkraut to sauce was on point, and it paired perfectly with the side of soup. Waffle Light, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. A classic done well. We also had two mimosas, blueberry and peach. Both were refreshing and not overly sweet, which made them easy to enjoy alongside the meal. Came here before hitting Monterey Bay Aquarium. Wait time on a Saturday morning was from 30min to an hour. The food here is really good. Love the pancakes is probably one of the best dishes they have. The rice as well is good wish they would just add more veggies, and it would be a solid 10/10. My boyfriend and I were looking for something quick to eat for breakfast on our way back home, so I placed an order for scheduled pickup. We got the croissant sandwich with the longganisa substitute, and it was sooooo delicious. It was pretty filling and came with crispy potatoes. Got here around 10a. It was busy but we were still able to get seated right away. Our server was on top of it and was really friendly. I love that they also bring out complimentary waters without being asked to. The restaurant was very clean and I love that they have open beams which made the restaurant seem more spacious. The restroom was also clean and smelled good. Their food is very delicious. I got linguica with scrambled eggs and country potatoes. Love that the linguica had nice char marks and the potatoes were cooked to a nice brownish/caramelized consistency and not pale white like other breakfast places. The Apple waffles is really tasty. Nice and fluffy and not overly sweet, also a big portion. The cinnamon apples with maple syrup just pairs well with it. Love that they also have fresh pressed apple cider from Gizzdich! I definitely recommend getting your breakfast at The Butter House. Despite being fully occupied with customers, our food was ready in 10 minutes. Both of the fried rice were balanced in flavor! Adobo pork belly was perfectly "adobo-y" salty, sour, and crispy. It was served as a large piece, I had assumed it would come cubed in the fried rice, but was a good portion size. Chicken and waffles were tasty. They fry the chicken thigh so it stays nice and juicy. The gravy wasn't my favorite, but everyone has a preference on their breakfast gravy, I'd prefer more salt and heavier on the pepper. Lumpia was alright, assuming it was deep fried because it was soaked in oil. Ground beef and bean sprouts, so a fairly traditional mix, not the skinny Shanghai ones. We will all say our Lola's is better, but it wasn't bad. Looking forward to trying the lemon curd pancakes and traditional Filipino breakfast the folks next to us had. We will definitely be back. Saved the best meal for last. My wife kept asking where we were going to eat before the long drive home. After some searching, I came across Butter House and man, this place was a hit. I got the Pork Belly Fried Rice and it was amazing. The pork belly was tender and came with a sour vinegar sauce that paired perfectly with it. Ask for extra sauce. My wife got the Lemon Curd Pancakes and we shared Marciana's Breakfast Fried Rice. Both were excellent. The lumpia was a little greasy, but still tasty. My daughter got the pancakes and immediately gave them a thumbs up. By the end of breakfast, both my wife and daughter were giving me kudos for picking the spot. Doesn't happen often, so I'll take the win. Great food, great service, and the perfect way to end our trip before the drive home. We'll definitely be back. read more

I am sure if you ask for both without Pork they can make you each to your preference keep in mind the Fried Rice has a lot of Butter to the taste

I'm a Vet and didn't see any discounts offered. They don't have any outside area for dining, so my dog stayed in my truck.
I see absolutely ZERO vegan options on the menus (except for maybe juice). Even the salads are full of meat. Exactly what vegan options are available here?
Go outside and eat grass then. Nobody is forcing you to eat here and nobody is forcing you to be vegan.
Can you bring back the chilaquiles?
They’ll be back soon! Our current special is Huevos Rancheros which will be around through May then transition to Chiliquiles
Is it possible to get a virgin bloody mary or is there alcohol in the mix?
Yes. We have a non alcoholic mix.
Is there adequate parking at any given time of day?
We have ample street and lot parking but can fill up according to what day and time. Weekends are obviously busier.
