So on the last day of my 36 hour Monterey golf trip, the boys and I needed a breakfast spot before we teed off and they mentioned to me this bomb Filipino breakfast spot and I just knew we had to check it out. We headed to The Butter House on Fremont Blvd, in Seaside. The parking at this lot was substantial as they share a lot with a few other businesses-so that was great. When we arrived it was a large room with many customers. There was no wait for our party of 6 due to the size of the restaurant with many tables in the room. Once I took a look at their menu,I was a bit overwhelmed with the sheer volume of choices but I decided to try something I would truly love,as I'm not overly familiar with Filipino breakfast items, but what Ive had so far I've truly loved. I went with Marciana's Breakfast Fried Rice ($16.50) and a single lumpia($3.05) The lumpia was just super delicious-it featured ground beef, onions, carrots, green beans, bean sprouts, and was served with a sweet chili sauce on the side. It's a great item,as many in my group ordered them and some even ordered extra to bring home. Now the fried rice dish featured butter fried rice with bacon, sausage,& ham,It also included soy sauce, onions, garlic and topped with two eggs served over-hard. I loved this dish so much that it's irritating. I'm irritated because I know this menu is full of banger items too, but I may never find out because I can't imagine ordering anything else--that's how much I enjoyed this dish In closing, if you ever find yourself in the Monterey area and want to try an awesome Filipino breakfast--get down to The Butter House-their quality is super high.

I was down in Monterey house sitting for a month so wanted to try a local spot for brunch with my wife for our 10th Anniversary celebration weekend. The reviews are great. Maybe a little too great because the experience left me wondering if they were all posted by a marketing agency. The photos on the reviews are all a little too perfect imo. Conspiracies aside, the food was awful. I just don't get how this many people could share amazing post after amazing post and jive that with my in person experience. We ordered the corned beef hash. It needed salt. How?!!! Plus they basically only used beef and potato?! The menu said it had peppers and onion so when we asked, they brought some out on the side?!! Terrible. I mean it made it taste a little better but it was still not good. Then, the "lumpia" was more like an oil soggy egg roll. Too oily to even eat because literally it was dripping oil. So gross. Clearly someone not from the lumpia making culture made these. I do not recommend this place at all. Even the coffee was terrible. Only saving grace and the second star comes from the fresh squeezed orange juice. Delicious but come on ... smh ... does not save this place at all. Sorry, I really wanted to like this but this was my experience. Hopefully it was just a weird day.

What is it about this spot that people like? Because, for me, it just isn't the food. We've been here a few times now, and every visit has been pretty much the same. The food just lacks flavor, and there's nothing that really stands out. Honestly, it's the kind of breakfast I feel like I could make at home. The pancakes were just okay, and while the French toast was probably the best thing we tried, it was way too sweet for my taste. The portions are pretty good, and the service has always been friendly and fast, which I definitely appreciate. But overall, I just don't think it's worth the wait or the price. I really wanted to understand the hype, but after giving it multiple chances, it just wasn't for me.

this place was definitely one of my bf's and my favorite meals in monterey since everything was super yummy! we came here on a thursday morning and the place was crowded but there was no wait. also, the waitresses were so kind and attentive despite it being so busy, continuously asking us if we needed anything else or refills for water. much appreciated !!! foods: - lumpia: came out HOT and crispy! we had to cut it to let it cool down, but it was really good and crunchy and paired well with the sweet and sour sauce! it can get a bit oily, and we did see a bit of oil just pooled on the plate, so i'd probably limit to just one if you're not a big fan of oily foods. - pork belly fried rice: the pork belly was crispy and savory and paired so well with the fried rice and egg! the fried rice has bell pepper in it, which surprised me bc i'd never eaten that combo before, but i still enjoyed it! this was my bf's favorite dish and he kept talking about it the rest of the day LOL - lemon curd & blueberry pancakes: i absolutely LOVED this !! i'm usually not a big fan of sweet breakfast items, but this one was perfectly not too sweet and the lemon curd added such a nice tanginess that helped cut through the sweetness. i also loved how the pancakes were filled with blueberries and had more blueberries on top, so there was no skimping! we were surprised that we finished it all bc we usually don't eat all of our pancakes, so that really says how yummy it was hehe.

Food was delicious! Definitely recommend the lumpia and the lemon curd blueberry pancakes. The lumpia were fresh, crispy, full of ground beef and the lemon curd blueberry pancakes were the best I've ever had! Moist, lemony deliciousness with lots of blueberries, both on top and inside the pancakes. The service was good, although we felt like were forgotten in the corner booth. My husband ran out of coffee and we were both out of water at one point. It was very busy when we went so we decided to give them a pass on that. Will definitely return to this restaurant next time we're in the Monterey/Seaside area.

I was in the area for a girl's trip. And this place popped out to me as I was looking for something tasty for breakfast. This place definitely satisfied my breakfast craves. We got the Marciana's breakfast fried rice. It was absolutely delicious. The perfectly cooked spam with the savory fried rice hit the spot. The pork belly fried rice was amazing. The pork belly was crispy and tender. The lemon curd and blueberry pancakes were yummy. The lemon curd is house made and it was sweet and creamy. The service was good. The ambience provides a spacious breakfast vibe. It can get packed quite quickly. This is a must breakfast place if you are in the area.

Delicious Filipino breakfast. I had the eggs and fried rice since I don't eat meat but it was delicious and I enjoyed my watermelon mimosa. Big portions and staff was friendly and attentive. Food tasted fresh and authentic. My husband enjoyed his meal and so did everyone at the table. Would eat here again

I had a okay experience. The service was okay, we got seated after 10-15 minutes. The food was okay. I got the Marciana's Breakfast fried rice and lumpia. The fried rice was okay, nothing really special. The lumpia I'm kind of disappointed, it has too much vegetables... it reminded me of lumpiang ubod. The atmosphere was okay, and the staff were friendly.

It's a bit tough to describe this place. Overall, I'd consider the experience positive with some important things to note. This place does breakfast, and the American side of the menu which I got to taste, was executed well. I'd go back for that. For those curious about the Filipino aspect, I wouldn't have high expectations. Their lumpia wasn't super special. Compared to the thousands of lumpia I've had in the US and across the world, they were just OK. For the price they were charging per piece, I wasn't the biggest fan. They didnt blow me away in flavor. They were also a bit burnt/ over fried for my liking. I also ordered the pork belly fried rice. Definitely Filipino inspired, with the adobo inspired sauce. Both the pork itself and the sauce were sweeter than I expected. The fried rice as well was disappointing. It was neither Filipino style for breakfast (sinangag) or a typical Chinese fried rice. It was an Americanized heavy-on-the-butter style. When it comes to viewing with a Filipino lens, it was a bit boring. I dont mind twists on Filipino food. There's plenty of it and plenty I've enjoyed, including on my numerous trips to the motherland. Unfortunately, the ones here were a bit underwhelming. I'd go back here for the amazing staff and limiting myself to the American traditional breakfast. For those hoping for a Filipino breakfast that shares more authentic flavors, I'd keep very low expectations.

Hey there Party People The Butter House is a place that is unassuming and has that neighborhood diner feel. It should be featured on Guy Fiery's "Diners Drive-ins and Dives" The place is always packed so we joined the "wait list" online while we were driving in When we got to the restaurant we only had to wait 5 minutes. Our waiter Cesar was great, very personable as well as efficient. The food came out quickly and was paced well since we had an appetizer. Started with the Lumpia which is basically a Philippino style egg roll. Super delicious and very large so you only need to order one trust me. I had the Carne Asada Fried rice. Their Verde sauce was nice and tangy. The meat was seasoned very well and there was a ton of it on the rice. I great dish I would order again. Hubby had the French Dip sandwich. He said the bun was nice and soft and the sandwich was wonderful. The meat was very lean, which he is very picky about. The fries were off the hook just crunchy enough and not over salted. If you're in Monterey and looking for a great breakfast to get your day started this is the place to go. Be kind to one another

I was visiting the area and came here for brunch on a Tuesday. I was looking forward to try their garlic rice as it was suggested while using AI. The food was okay but my pork belly fried rice was too salty. It wasn't the rice that was salty; it was the pork belly. The lumpia was okay as well. For me, I felt that it missed the mark as filipino cuisine. I'm willing to try again but for the American breakfast.

This is an amazing amazing wonderful place to eat pricing is well it is a little bit high but then come to think of it it's more than reasonable portions are pretty generous diffusion Filipino American Mexican is perfect it just tastes so good you won't go wrong with any dish I think our large party ordered one of every different item and we shared I had a suggestion that they offer some type of Ube dessert to pay homage but they do have a variety of cakes for dessert parking can be challenging and street parking is also available

My boyfriend and I were looking for something quick to eat for breakfast on our way back home, so I placed an order for scheduled pickup. We got the croissant sandwich with the longganisa substitute, and it was sooooo delicious. It was pretty filling and came with crispy potatoes. Next time I'm in the area, I'm definitely going to dine in.

Do they offer military veterans discount? If they do, what’s the %? Also ate they dog friendly or have outdoor seating?

I'm a Vet and didn't see any discounts offered. They don't have any outside area for dining, so my dog stayed in my truck.

I see absolutely ZERO vegan options on the menus (except for maybe juice). Even the salads are full of meat. Exactly what vegan options are available here?

Go outside and eat grass then. Nobody is forcing you to eat here and nobody is forcing you to be vegan.

Can you bring back the chilaquiles?

They’ll be back soon! Our current special is Huevos Rancheros which will be around through May then transition to Chiliquiles

Is it possible to get a virgin bloody mary or is there alcohol in the mix?

Yes. We have a non alcoholic mix.

Is there adequate parking at any given time of day?

We have ample street and lot parking but can fill up according to what day and time. Weekends are obviously busier.

Do you have a locals menu?

    Yes they do

A Veterans Discount provides a resource to ensure Veterans, a rare 7% of the population, the opportunity to participate in the American Dream their sacrifices have made possible. How much is this business' Veterans Discount?

I don't believe that they do (no reviews mention it) but you could call and ask. :)

Do they have any vegan options?

    Yes they do

Do you serve gluten free breads or gluten free pancakes/waffles? Thx!?

We have Gluten Free bread, and Gluten free French Toast.

What kind of cold brew coffee is used?

    The delicious kind.

Yes indeed we do. Saturdays and Sundays are our busiest days so please add your party to our waitlist. visit the website at least an hour before to be seated. www.thebutterhouse.com pr you can do it through the Yelp app.…

Does this establishment offer any military discount?

No, I don't believe so, but it does not hurt to ask if you go.

What items can be made gluten free?

They don't answer the phone:(. Maybe to busy on weekends.

Can you seat a party of 18?

What day and time? If it’s today we can’t guarantee everyone seating together. But we can seat you.

    Are you guys pet friendly?

Service dogs only and must be on leash.

    What are the vegan options?

We do offer vegan sausage patties and vegan chicken, both absolutely delicious! We can tailor our salads to remove cheese or meat and great replacement for meat is black beans which we carry. Your server is always willing to change things around to…

Check-in was easy and prompt. It was quite busy for a Friday check-in but there were 5-6 workers checking people in so it went pretty fast. They were providing water bottles to those who were waiting, and also let people know that there were s'more kits to use at the outside fireplace facing the golf course. You may have to drive to where your room is as there are various buildings in the hotel, so perhaps wait to get your luggage out of your car until after check-in. There looked to be quite a few kids at the property as well as they had some ping pong tables and life size chess available near the main building. The room itself was really spacious and clean. Nothing was really wrong in the room. Perhaps the AC wasn't the best (maybe we were using it wrong), but there is a fan right above the bed which was VERY cool/strong once turned on. We drove up and arrived around 9pm after several hours on the packed road. I was so excited to stay at this property. Upon arrival I asked if Hyatt members received perks. Instead as my card was charged $700+ I was told we get two free bottled waters and 5 points toward the stay. We were then told to drive to our room carry our bags in. No bellman no assistance nothing. We were sent to the farthest room in the entire establishment, in building Z by the loud freeway on the first floor. The room was awful. We were met with a cracked sink rusty bathroom fixtures hair in the shower and wifi that did not work. The bed sheets and comforter were thin the wood was chipped. I called the front desk and spoke to Priscilla who was very kind and completely understood and was empathetic. She moved us to another room and said security could help us carry bags. By the time new keys and security came it was 10:30pm and we were sick and exhausted. We went to our new room which wasn't much better. There was something on the wall the sink was rusty but the worst part were the kids upstairs making noise all night. Someone called security around 11;30pm/12am I did not get to sleep until 12:30am. Unfortunately we were then woken up by the same kids very early. I called down to front desk again. Taylor was the front desk supervisor at the time and she apologized and asked me what I would like her to do? Did we want coffee? No we want to get out of here and be refunded for this completely stressful and disappointing trip. We could have stayed in Calabasas for this. I truly hope someone from Hyatt makes this right. I would hate to leave a review for my large social media following and never stay in a Hyatt again.

All searches for a breakfast/brunch place led us here. We were staying in Monterey, and when…read morelooking for recommendations this place kept popping up. There's ample parking in the plaza, so it should not be a concern. We went on a weekday morning, so it wasn't crowded but the looking at how at the familiarity between the staff and some of the customers, it seemed like a local favorite. The staff was very sweet, and place seemed very chirpy, the place reminded of a good old diner. All the staff was very sweet. We got the Quintals omelette, and it was my first time trying refried beans in an omelette and it was definitely something we'd try again. We also got French toast with fresh fruits and it was delicious too.

My husband and I stopped by The Breakfast Club on our final morning in town. It was a busy morning,…read moreand while the staff was genuinely friendly throughout our visit, the service coordination and overall meal quality were a bit hit-or-miss. The Experience & Service: There was some noticeable confusion when our meals were served. A food runner brought out my husband's plate first, then turned to me and asked if I had ordered anything. When I told her I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict, she asked if our server had mentioned they were out of it and if I had picked a replacement. He hadn't told me anything of the sort. A few minutes later, our server came by to reassure me my food would be out shortly, bringing a small bowl of fruit to tide me over. My plate did eventually arrive, but the miscommunication up front was a bit awkward. The Food: Crab Cake Benedict: Unfortunately, the dish was just okay. The crab cake itself tasted like a pre-breaded, frozen patty rather than freshly made. Smothered under the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, it was fine, but nothing special. Omelet & Home Fries: My husband really enjoyed his omelet. However, his side of home fries was a letdown--they weren't cooked through properly and had an off-taste of old fryer oil. Final Verdict: The staff is nice and trying hard during a busy rush, but given the service hiccups and average food execution, I'm not sure we would return if we're in the area again.

Second time eating at Wave Street Cafe, and it definitely won't be our last!…read more Overall, the food was amazing. My husband wasn't a fan of the grilled chicken, but everyone else's meals were delicious. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, the eggs were great, and the thick-cut toast was fresh and so tasty. But the real star of the meal was the Cinnamon BUN Pancakes... WOW. They were absolutely delicious! Soft, flavorful, and honestly some of the best pancakes I've ever had. I couldn't get enough of them. The prices were also very reasonable, especially for being so close to the beach. Great food, great location, and a place we'll continue coming back to. Highly recommend! My picture does not do it justice

You waited for things but not long at all. The food is very good for what this place is. The corned beef is shredded and the flavor is excellent. It is not greasy or wet. My wife asked for poached eggs and they came out perfectly done. The tuna melt was very good as well. The bread seemed house made and had the perfect crunch, the tuna was the show, clearly fresh with not too much mayo. Had a little dill, celery and some tomato. Very nice indeed. Even the onion rings were above average. I certainly will recommend and return
