Kauai Combo
Amy L.

Not bad! A popular spot in Carmel, we were lucky enough to get seated immediately (by the time we left there was a wait). I believe they are most known for their eggs Benedict's (they have a ton of variety) but my husband and I aren't fans so we ordered other items. I ordered the Kauai Combo - I did enjoy the pancakes. The pineapples in the eggs were interesting but not my favorite. My husband ordered the corned beef hash n eggs which were fine. Giving it a 3/5 overall because the food was just fine - though portions are large, service was okay and the space was a bit cramped. I wouldn't avoid it but I wouldn't seek it out.

Traditional Belgian Waffle Breakfast

Katy's is a super tucked away little restaurant! Perfect for morning breakfast or brunch. Incredible service, all of the staff was so kind and we were seated immediately. (We came on a Sunday morning about 11am) Portion sizes are great, homemade juices and fluffiest waffles I've ever had. Feels like you're eating breakfast at grandmas house but in the best way! Check it out if you're in the area. But bring CASH. They are CASH only :)

It's a solid no frills breakfast joint. Food quality was good and service was decent. Pancakes are so simple but a lot of places are a let down, but the pancakes here were spot on!

Ham and cheese omelette

What a hidden gem in beautiful Carmel by the sea. My friend and I arrived right at opening, we received the menus and had our drink order taken quickly. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette with a side of sourdough toast. The omelette was cooked perfectly, it was fluffy with the perfect amount of ham and cheese. The toast was toasted a little too much and the pieces were small. I normally have extra bread when I have breakfast, here I actually wish I had more. The menu is full with options, the only reason I didn't give five stars was because we go offered more water right before asking for the check, I could have used more water before. I will be back for sure to give them a second chance and try something else in the menu

Lobster Benedict

The lobster benedict was very good and tasted fresh. It's a cozy spot right in Carmel-by-the-Sea, with a great atmosphere for breakfast. We enjoyed everything about our visit and will definitely be going back. This will be our go-to breakfast place on our next trip to California.

Carmel Joe's Special

Katy's Place in Carmel offers a cozy breakfast spot with friendly, attentive service. The New York Benedict was a standout--perfectly cooked and packed with flavor--while the Carmel Joe's Special was just okay. There's plenty of seating, but the tables are packed in tight, so expect a bit of a squeeze. Overall, a great spot for a satisfying breakfast. They are cash only though!

Mushroom omelet that comes with toast and potatoes, also a side of more mushrooms

Tasty and a cute little place in Carmel for breakfast. It had fast customer service and refill of water. Lots of cute decor that makes you feel like eating at your Grandma's house. A key tip one must know before sitting down is that this is a Cash ONLY restaurant- they do have signs for it but yes. Will be eating here again when in area (:

Corned Beef

Food is delicious and fast. Katy's has a huge variety to choose from. All kinds of breakfast and lunch items. We came for breakfast - the taste and portions were 4-star. The service was excellent - very kind, attentive, and friendly, 5-star. The prices and the fact that they only take cash are the reasons I removed 1 star from my original draft, which was a 4-star review. We ordered a whole bunch of food: Bay shrimp benedict, Classic benedict, a cheeseburger, the Country omelette, Corned beef hash and eggs, a side of biscuits and gravy, a single french toast, and a cup of lobster bisque soup. Everything came out relatively fast. The food was fresh and very tasty. The corned beef hash is brisket that is wonderfully cooked and full of flavor. The biscuits are fluffy and delicious. Both of the benedicts were perfectly made and packed full of flavor. My nephew is a big eater but he couldn't finish the cheeseburger - he said it was excellent. We usually tip between 15-20%. Our total bill with the tip was $240. It is a bit pricy but worth the try and we will be back. I do recommend giving this place a try. It is a bit tight inside - they offer outside seating as well. The staff is very friendly. Make sure you bring good ole hard cash because they don't accept credit cards. There is an ATM machine nearby - staff will tell you the location.

Lobster, crab and shrimp, avocado omelette.Get this!

I always recommend this place to people visiting Carmel! It is a cozy classic and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu! I love the seafood options for omelettes and if tge calamari steak is on the specials menu(don't forget to check the chalk board) that is a perfect option ( so much more flavor than fried calamari!). The berry pancakes are fantastic as well( if there are more than four at the table get an order to share as a decadent side dish. My go to is the seafood special omelette resplendent with lobster, fresh crab and shrimp with large avocado chunks and jack cheese. This is a spectacular value at $34, which sounds steep, but the amount of fresh seafood packed into this dish is impressive. Service is friendly and large groups can be accommodated! Don't forget to bring cash.

This place is a staple if you are in Carmel for breakfast. Know that it is cash only, so be prepared. Usually there is a wait to get in. They have the most amazing selection of eggs Benedict. Food is definitely comfort food. portions are good-sized too! I can usually never finish anything on my plate. It is a small little place so you are packed in, but that's part of the charm. While not exactly super friendly, the waitresses have always been efficient and pleasant. They definitely work hard and earn their pay! Will continue to keep this place as a regular stop when eating in Carmel.

Corned beef has and poached eggs (added an extra egg)
Mark B.

I am always on the lookout for a good breakfast place, and Carmel has a lot to offer. After doing some research I thought Katy's Place looked like it had good corned beef hash. And my research paid off! I had corned beef hash with 3 poached eggs. The hash was homemade and delicious and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The style of the hash was more of a shredded brisket with some veggies mixed in (I think there may have been some mushrooms in there). Not a lot of potato or other "filler"...mostly meat. The flavors were great. My wife had French toast and scrambled eggs. They were also very good. Highly recommend a stop at Katy's if you are looking for a good, "classic" breakfast option.

Wonderful spot for breakfast! This cozy, quaint and simply adorable restaurant was the perfect spot for a casual morning meal. It had an old school indoor dining room and a little outdoor patio that was situated under a big tree. The menu had an all-day breakfast and lunch menu. All of the standards were available. We ordered veggie omelette plates with potatoes and bread. Our food arrived quickly, and was in good portion. The omelette was packed with vegetables, hearty and flavorful. Service was excellent. Our servers were welcoming, friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our time here and would visit again for breakfast. If you decide to visit, make sure to bring cash since it's cash only.

Good breakfast, high price.

Service was fast, and the food was fresh and amazing. Note that it's cash-only, but the place has a cozy, old-fashioned, homestyle feel.

Do they still have gluten-free pancakes or gluten-free waffles?

Why do you put this as dog friendly ? That sounds like false advertisement?

Their website states "Dog Policy: service dogs only." So this is not dog friendly unless your dog is a service dog.

We were seated right away without reservations. The place looks smaller than it is - they have a bunch of outdoor seating. It is a typical diner style establishment. And I'm not sure how accessible it is unless you know exactly where to park - there's a lot of stairs around. But it is a really cute location with lots of nice flowers and landscaping around. I can't remember our servers name - but he was really wonderful & had a great attitude. I ended up going with a custom skillet & my partner chose the biscuits & gravy and brisket chili. My custom skillet was super yummy & I was pleasantly surprised they had vegetarian sausage! It was well seasoned & the mushrooms were thinly sliced & cooked to perfection. I actually really enjoyed this meal. My partner really enjoyed his biscuits & gravy and thought it was one of the best ones he's ever had. He also was starstruck over the brisket chili, so I would definitely say to get a cup of that if that sounds like your thing. I would definitely stop back here on my next visit to Monterey/Carmel. I usually drive out to Carmel when visiting Monterey just because I like the food options more.

It was quite busy outside, but we found a nice spot in the shade. Once we started to order, a lot of the people started to leave and there was only a couple other parties outside. For once I was hungry AND actually able to order while thinking about portion sizes. Normally my eyes are more hungry than my stomach! I had one banana walnut pancake and still couldn't finish it. My partner ordered the breakfast skillet with chorizo, mushrooms, and avocado. Both were exceptionally delicious, and the skillet especially with their homemade bottled pepper sauce. It's available to purchase but they ran out when we were visiting. The pancake had bananas or walnuts in every bite, if not both. The maple syrup was also heated up so it made for a very pleasant experience. I'm normally a savory breakfast gal, but this called to me, and I'm so glad I went with it. And the skillet wasn't that spicy but packed tons of flavor. I could taste some smoke paprika, garlic powder, and a pleasant amount of salt and pepper. We enjoyed our time here, and since the business was slowing down, we were able to chat with our waiter and get some ideas for local spots to try. 10/10, we will be back again! :) Thank you so much!

This place does breakfast, and the American side of the menu which I got to taste, was executed well. I'd go back for that. For those curious about the Filipino aspect, I wouldn't have high expectations. Their lumpia wasn't super special. Compared to the thousands of lumpia I've had in the US and across the world, they were just OK. For the price they were charging per piece, I wasn't the biggest fan. They didnt blow me away in flavor. They were also a bit burnt/ over fried for my liking. I also ordered the pork belly fried rice. Definitely Filipino inspired, with the adobo inspired sauce. Both the pork itself and the sauce were sweeter than I expected. The fried rice as well was disappointing. It was neither Filipino style for breakfast (sinangag) or a typical Chinese fried rice. It was an Americanized heavy-on-the-butter style. When it comes to viewing with a Filipino lens, it was a bit boring. I dont mind twists on Filipino food. There's plenty of it and plenty I've enjoyed, including on my numerous trips to the motherland. Unfortunately, the ones here were a bit underwhelming. I'd go back here for the amazing staff and limiting myself to the American traditional breakfast. For those hoping for a Filipino breakfast that shares more authentic flavors, I'd keep very low expectations.

It is Michelin Guide-recognized, but it does not feel stiff or overly formal. It feels like a family-run European bistro that has earned its reputation over many years. The restaurant is small, warm, and busy, so getting a reservation can be difficult. Since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were spotted there, it has definitely become even harder to get in. Reservations can be weeks out, but my advice is not to give up if you are already in Carmel. Put your name on the list, stay close by, and be flexible. There are cancellations, and if you are within a few blocks, you may get lucky. They do not really have a bar area where you can sit and eat while waiting, so planning ahead helps. The food is the reason people keep coming back. Everything tastes ingredient-driven, fresh, and well executed. The Ensalada Rosa / Rouge Salad was beautiful and balanced, with the beets, radicchio, herbs, and creamy dressing all working together. The Champignons Provençale were rich, earthy, and comforting, with that deep garlic-herb flavor you want from a European bistro. The Ossobuco Piemontese was tender and satisfying, the kind of dish that is perfect on a Carmel evening. The Lobster all'Amatriciana was also excellent, with the pasta, lobster, and sauce coming together in a way that felt special but still rustic. One thing people should not overlook is their flatbread/pizza. Their wood-fired pizzas are excellent and have that Neapolitan-style feel: a light, chewy crust, a little char, and clean flavors. You could honestly go just for a salad, one of their pizzas, and a bottle of wine and still have a great night. The service was also great. Even though the restaurant is busy, the staff was welcoming, professional, and attentive. You can feel the family history behind the place, including the connection to Casanova down the street, and that gives the restaurant a sense of Carmel tradition that is hard to duplicate. La Bicyclette is not a place to rush through. It is small, it is popular, and it takes some planning, but that is part of what makes it feel authentic. Between the atmosphere, the quality ingredients, the wood-fired cooking, and the customer service, it remains one of the true staples of Carmel-by-the-Sea and one of the restaurants I always recommend.

Oof... I hate to say it, but we had quite a poor experience here…read more I was with a group of four this past weekend for a Sunday brunch, hoping for a nice bite before we traveled back home from our Carmel weekend. We found Hidden Gem through Yelp, and arrived as a walk-in. While we would have loved to sit outside in the warm weather, the patio was full and we were seated inside the restaurant. For all the cute restaurants you can find in Carmel, Hidden Gem is... not one of them. It felt oddly stripped down and incomplete inside - almost like they were redoing the interior and hadn't finished the job yet (perhaps they are?). While the restaurant was relatively full, I wouldn't describe it as packed. But from the time we ordered our food to the time the last of us received our food, it was a full, legitimate, 1.5 HOURS (I timed it). During this time, not once did anyone from the staff ever come up to us to address the excruciating wait, apologize for the delay, or even provide any sort of update. We were left waiting with no clue what was happening. Even getting a refill on our water or coffee proved difficult - it was hard tracking anyone down, and it usually took at least two follow-ups for it to actually happen. And when we did finally receive our food, it was incredibly underwhelming. We ordered an eggs benedict, two breakfast sandwiches, french toast, and the skillet. Virtually all the meat - most notably the sausage and the bacon - was burnt, with a charred taste masking any potential for flavor. The potatoes were wet and undercooked. The french toast was soggy and flavorless. Sadly, the best part of our entire meal was the bread on the sandwich and the side of toast that came with the skillet. I'd also be remiss not to mention that every single one of us felt nauseous or unsettled, and some of us borderline sick, after the meal. Given how many positive reviews I see of this place, I'm thinking we must have come on a really, really bad day. This gives me hope that our brunch was simply a one-off and that it's not usually like this. But everything, from the ambiance, to the service, to the food, was incredibly disappointing.
