I had a lovely five star dining experience here with my husband for our anniversary. Rumor is that Taylor Swift ate here, but that's not why we tried it out. La Bicyclette showcases very high-quality French cuisine that is not too heavy and hosts guests in a light and airy environment, that is very comfortable and reminiscent of a home kitchen. While I forget the exact names of the dishes, the mushroom pizza was delicious and I would highly recommend it if you are a mushroom fan. We also had steak and a lobster tail pasta, which was delicious with the suggested wine pairings. Truly a lovely location for a special date or special celebration.
Cute establishment! Definitely recommend making a reservation before you come especially if you have a big group. I was able to walk in and make a reservation for 2 and wait for about 1 hour. Recommend the pizzas here! It's a thin crust and use that hot chili oil on the pizza! Will come back again with friends and recommend.
We came here on a Saturday afternoon with no reservation and somehow there was a cancellation and we got seated right away. We saw that the callback list was pretty long and was happy that they sat us. The place is small and cozy. We got a pizza and a salad to share. The pizza was really good!

The food was truly chef's kiss..you can taste the care, quality ingredients, and love that goes into every dish. It's the kind of meal where you take a bite and just look at each other like, "Wow." Every plate felt thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The cozy atmosphere made it even better, especially on a super rainy day. It honestly felt like the perfect little escape, and now I'm wishing I could eat here every single day. My only wish? Craft cocktails! That would take the experience completely over the top. But even without them, the food absolutely speaks for itself. If you appreciate high-quality food made with serious TLC, this spot is a must-try. I'm already looking forward to going back.
We came around 2:45pm for a party of 3, but were told that they were closing the restaurant in 30 min, and we could only be seated if there were any cancellations. We decided to order to go. We ordered the Gnocchis Parisiens (entree) and the Champignons Wood-Oven Fired Pizza. It was ready in about 10 minutes. The pizza was yummy with the nice, soft crust, mushrooms, and the caramelized onion-truffle purée! The spinach gnocchi was so soft and pillowy. Both were so delicious!

Delicious spot! We gotta the Margarita and truffle mushroom pizza and the gnocchi. My favorite was the gnocchi, it came so perfectly soft paired with this delicious creamy sauce. The pizza was also great! The mushroom one was a bit heavy and creamy while the Margarita one was lighter. The wait was also 1 hour during an off time on a weekend. Try to make reservations in advance
Came early, right when they opened because my daughter wanted the bread pudding but their dessert menu has changed since the last time we were here. We had pizzas and dessert and everything was excellent just like our past visits. We especially love their crust. This has become my youngest daughters favorite restaurant that she made sure to take her older siblings.
So excited to finally try La Bicyclette the restaurant is so charming instead it felt like a mini carmel instead of the restaurant with the cute little houses with tables in them I'd love to dine in one next time. My waitress was so wonderful hand great recommendations and was so nice the oysters so delicious the flavor of the harissa butter with the oysters was a great pairing. The pizza was the perfect among of crisp and not heavy or overly oily. I have the affogato for dessert which was also delish. My only feedback was the hosts were not very friendly and gave the impression that they were annoyed I was interrupting their conversation. Otherwise the experience once I was seated was great
Lovely ratatouille french vibes especially seated in the side room. Rustic home feel was cozy and welcoming, friendly service! - gnocchi : smooth soft pillowy gnocchi in a scrumptious cream sauce, really wanted soak every bit of the sauce with the bread - arancini : a special of the day. perfectly crispy exterior and a hefty ball of an arancini! - ossobuco : a delightful surprise, the pork shank was tender and juicy, well cooked! Sat atop a bed of polenta and carrots - very comforting - mushroom pizza : loved the amount of hen of the wood mushrooms on this! Good crispy crust and bottom, nice garlicky paste as well
We attempted what we'd heard was the impossible: a Saturday night walk-in at La Bicyclette. Instead of being turned away, we were warmly offered a table an hour out--and given recommendations for nearby bars while we waited. We chose Terry's at Cypress Inn, just around the corner and, to our surprise, received a text within 30 minutes that our table was ready. We were seated in a slightly larger than closet sized, tiny room that was once their non-smoking section--perfect for us. It felt like a fairy-tale cottage meets teeny tiny clubhouse. Think Snow White's house, but with excellent food and wine. The atmosphere was calm, a welcome contrast to the Saturday night energy outside. Service was personable, professional, and attentive. For food, we tried their mushroom pizza with manchego and truffle (earthy), a full order of gnocchi (pillowy and creamy), and their risotto and prawn appetizer--which eats like a full entrée. Everything was beautifully prepared and satisfying. We enjoyed some nice red wine by the glass, but a pro tip: try the beer--it comes with complimentary farmhouse cheese. From the hospitality, to the ambiance and food, La Bicyclette lived up to their reputation. We enjoyed our experience, and hope to return.
Every time I'm in the area, I do everything I can to stop by. Monday night, I showed up by myself with no reservation and they were able to seat me right away, never felt so lucky. I really enjoy how the menu changes with the seasons -- and while I always order the gnocchi because I actually can't help myself -- the carrots were truly a delight. It was a dish made, basically, entirely of carrots but had such a wealth of flavors I almost picked up my plate and licked it. Sweet, sour, savory, a hint of bitterness. Not to mention the variety of textures, smooth puréed carrot, carrots you could sink your teeth into & the crunch of the garnish? Not going to reiterate how good the gnocchi is, I think everyone knows and has said how good it is. Just get it.
This is a very Parisian style restaurant small insides but amazing flavors. The service is excellent and attentive. This will definitely take you back to one of the side streets in Paris. Almost every dish I've tried has always been good. They have excellent pizza traveling those beans served in Rome or in Florence.

La Bicyclette is one of those restaurants that still feels like classic Carmel-by-the-Sea. It has history, character, great service, and food that feels thoughtful without trying too hard. It is Michelin Guide-recognized, but it does not feel stiff or overly formal. It feels like a family-run European bistro that has earned its reputation over many years. The restaurant is small, warm, and busy, so getting a reservation can be difficult. Since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were spotted there, it has definitely become even harder to get in. Reservations can be weeks out, but my advice is not to give up if you are already in Carmel. Put your name on the list, stay close by, and be flexible. There are cancellations, and if you are within a few blocks, you may get lucky. They do not really have a bar area where you can sit and eat while waiting, so planning ahead helps. The food is the reason people keep coming back. Everything tastes ingredient-driven, fresh, and well executed. The Ensalada Rosa / Rouge Salad was beautiful and balanced, with the beets, radicchio, herbs, and creamy dressing all working together. The Champignons Provençale were rich, earthy, and comforting, with that deep garlic-herb flavor you want from a European bistro. The Ossobuco Piemontese was tender and satisfying, the kind of dish that is perfect on a Carmel evening. The Lobster all'Amatriciana was also excellent, with the pasta, lobster, and sauce coming together in a way that felt special but still rustic. One thing people should not overlook is their flatbread/pizza. Their wood-fired pizzas are excellent and have that Neapolitan-style feel: a light, chewy crust, a little char, and clean flavors. You could honestly go just for a salad, one of their pizzas, and a bottle of wine and still have a great night. The service was also great. Even though the restaurant is busy, the staff was welcoming, professional, and attentive. You can feel the family history behind the place, including the connection to Casanova down the street, and that gives the restaurant a sense of Carmel tradition that is hard to duplicate. La Bicyclette is not a place to rush through. It is small, it is popular, and it takes some planning, but that is part of what makes it feel authentic. Between the atmosphere, the quality ingredients, the wood-fired cooking, and the customer service, it remains one of the true staples of Carmel-by-the-Sea and one of the restaurants I always recommend. read more
One of our favorite French restaurants in Carmel . It is nicely decorated and great service . I love it that we got tiny dainty room that fit two small takes for 2 and 3 guests . Class silverware , ceramic plates with matching napkins . They are famous for the wood fired pizzas and mushroom caps with hazelnut/ garlic butter . Still my favorite restaurant in Carmel By the Sea. The food quality and presentation is impeccable. I love the quirky decor and the feeling of being in France. The Beet salad was delicious as well as the pepperoni pizza. The warm olives had a bit of spice and sweetness. And the gnocchi is made from a recipe they had been in the family for thirty years. It's a must try! Breakfast is easy to just stroll into but lunch and dinner most certainly require a reservation. Bon appétit! read more

Went here because my wife saw Taylor Swift ate here. And I can totally see why! The vibes are amazing. Transporting you to a small French villa. The food was incredible. We got the pizza. So good. There's so much to do in this amazing town and going to La Bicyclette should be top of your list read more

Make the reservation and go!!! As a solo traveler I don't always call ahead but happy I did. I was visiting Monterey for the weekend and could only get a reservation for lunch. When I arrived, there was already a long waitlist but I got right in. The staff was amazing and super friendly. I felt like I was a special guest in someone's home. I had the winter citrus salad which was unique and very refreshing. Since it was lunchtime, I decided to go with the margarita pizza which was one of the best pizzas I've had, the crust was perfection. The only downfall is I don't live close enough to go more often. read more

We were visiting Carmel-by-the-Sea on a weekend getaway and made a point to stop in to La Bicyclette for dinner. We made reservations way in advance, but were still only able to snag a 5 PM on a Saturday night. Be warned: you need to have a reservation. Service was great, casual. It felt very European. The food was anything but casual. My husband and I split a lot of food, including a pizza, the steak, a salad, and of course, the gnocchi. The pasta was absolutely our favorite. Get the bigger portion you won't regret it. If we could've dined here every night of our trip, we would have. Make a reservation!! And enjoy!!! read more

Ate here for lunch a few weeks ago since they didn't have any evening reservations available. We ordered the margarita pizza and Autumn salad. Our server was attentive and the food was brought out promptly. It was delicious and beautifully prepared. Their plates had La Bicyclette engraved on them - I liked that detail. I would like to come back and try some of their other dishes. Definitely call ahead to make a recreation. They have two dining rooms separated by a wall so they can accommodate various groups of people. Good vibes and good food. read more
Was lucky enough to snag a weeknight dinner reservation a few weeks in advance and was so glad I did. My husband ordered a beer to start and I ordered a non alcoholic spritz that was excellent --our waitress gave great suggestions. All beer comes with a few cubes of sharp cheddar sprinkled with celery salt which was a nice touch. For an appetizer we shared the autumn salad which was fresh and balanced. For entrees, we ordered a full size portion of the gnocchi and the squash and speck pizza. Both were delicious! The gnocchi was probably the best I've ever had --light and fluffy in a decadent creamy sauce. The pizza had great flavor and texture and came with an optional chili oil that added a nice kick and flavor. We dipped the pizza crust in the gnocchi sauce for a tasty pairing. Lastly, we ordered the pumpkin pie which was a special dessert offering. I'm not a pumpkin pie person but it was very well made and I still enjoyed it. Overall, I think La Bicyclette is worth the hype since every bite was delicious and not crazy price-wise. We came here to celebrate our babymoon and really enjoyed ourselves! I have to echo everyone else and say the gnocchi was my absolute favorite dish! The chicken was also juicy and delicious. The pizza was good but not worth the hype in my opinion. The service was amazing and it was very cozy and romantic. Would definitely recommend if in Carmel! read more
I always come here whenever I visit Carmel. The place is always busy so I recommend making reservations. Lively atmosphere. The tables are pretty close together. The food is always 5 stars! Had the steak that was perfectly cooked to my request of medium rare. Love the little drizzle of Gorgonzola, it really elevated the dish. The butternut squash pizza was solid as well. Staff brought out some chili oil and recommended we put it in the pizza. Wow! That really added some flavor to the pizza. read more

Delicious dinner. Excellent service. They could not take a reservation with same-day notice, so suggested coming as a walk-in. Since we were dining early, they were able to accommodate us almost immediately as walk-ins. We shared the stuffed mushrooms and salade rouge as appetizers and the rack of lamb and margherita pizza as entrees. Have the chocolate mousse for two! You won't be disappointed. 5-stars all the way! This is a must try restaurant in Carmel. It's a gem and a hot spot for celebs (so I hear). Let me first warn you that it gets pretty hot inside; not sure they have AC but the fans aren't good enough. Everything else is an A+. The interior decor of an old Parisian town with some Mediterranean feel, is such a hit. It's definitely picture esq here. The food is fresh and they mainly serve wood fired pizzas, pastas and salads. I highly recommend the Champignon pizza which has thick mushrooms, caramelized onions, truffle, and Manchego. We also loved the Spaghetti con Vongole which is their seafood pasta. It has an amazing broth sauce with tons of Manila clams and crispy slices of diced pork belly. It's delicious and a must try. I also highly recommend ordering a side of truffle fries with their garlic aioli sauce. These are amazing and pairs well with anything. There are no complaints here but I do wish they served complimentary bread and butter because I think it would be a phenomenal addition. One of the popular restaurants in Carmel. The French cozy decor, lots of interesting items to try. Nice service and friendly staff. Had the special mussels with fritters, loved it. The white wine by Post and Bean (part of Far Niente family) went really well with the mussels. Came back the next day and tried the champignons Provençale, the flavor was good, prepared like escargot but with mushrooms was a bit oily. We were just walking around, and inexplicably the host was able to squeeze us in, without a reservation in this bustling place. We were impromptu celebrating my wife's new watch. Although it was cold outside, the inside was nice and warm. Although it was packed, it was not excessively noisy. Our waiter was quick and polite and charming. The food arrived quickly, and was fantastic. First off, we had a tough time picking what to have. We just wanted everything on the menu. Gnocchi were tender and fluffy, with rich cheesy sauce. The mushroom pizza was loaded with cheese and mushroom umami. The steak was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The starters were creative and tasty. Will try to be back, though next time probably will make a reservation ahead of time. read more
Very homey atmosphere and small, cute interior. Must get a pizza. The unique chili oil drizzle they bring out for the pizza is the kick that elevates their pizza to A-tier level. Seafood pasta hit the spot as well. Dessert was ok- beignets were more like an ice cream sandwich. Came here 10/08/2025 for lunch as a first-time coming to Carmel, I must also try some of their tasty cuisines. Thus, we decided to stop by this MICHELIN Guided restaurant. They even have this big red metal Michelin sign in front. So I have high expectations; however, it fell a little short of disappointment. Not a perfect Restaurant, but definitely had room for improvement. We were seated immediately upon arrival for lunch on a weekday. At first we were seated in the corner seating, but the light made it extremely hot, and we were able to change to a more shady location. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have AC in the restaurant, because it was very hot and the flies would not stop bugging our meal. I do need to point out that the inside decor looked gorgeous. Salumi pizza ($28)- had a nice, crunchy dough and tasted good and fresh. It was quite salty due to the sausage. The crust got soggy quickly from the sausage oil. Linguine Pescatore ($56)- a beautiful pasta dish with half a lobster and two prawns. Seemed like a pretty popular dish. Although the pasta itself was on the softer end to my taste, it was still very flavorful and creamy. The downside is that the lobster we had was VERY SALTY. it was even saltier than the salumi. Overall, it was a great place to dine. I had a high expectation for a Michelin-guided restaurant only to be smothered by the heat, flies, and salty lobster. But the theme and freshness of the food cannot be overlooked. I'll have to come back and give it another go with the gnocchi. read more
Either have a reservation or a backup plan because this place is busy! I sat at one of the last tables available on a Friday at 3:45. It's worth it though. It so charming inside and the food was stellar. The steak tartare was flavorful and tender and the gnocchi was just delicious. Perfect fluffy texture to offset the rich parmesan sauce and the bread with both was the perfect crusty chewy. I will absolutely be back. read more
La Bicyclette has the best steak I have ever had. I LOVE peppercorn sauce and theirs is perfect. Steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce just topped it off. We were also able to get seated without a reservation right when they opened. We got there before they opened probably about 15-20 minutes early and were 2nd or 3rd in line. It was challenging getting through their phone line for reservations as it kept instructing me to call during non-peak hours. I tried 3 different times of the day during the week and finally got thru to make a reservation for a Wednesday at 5pm. The food, service, and ambiance were lovely. We had the winter citrus salad and we loved it. The yuzu vinaigrette with a touch of soy sauce is so yummy. Hubby had a mushroom pizza and I had the halibut special with grilled fennel and spinach. Both divine. We ended with the beignet with ice cream and caramel sauce. It's my husband's favorite dessert now. Excellent all around. read more
This gem never disappoints!! Went there this last weekend with my boyfriend. We were in Carmel for a bday getaway. I try to make it a point to visit La Bicyclette whenever I'm in town. It was my boyfriend's first time so it was especially fun to go with someone who hadn't been before. He fell in love with it immediately. The decor of the place is simple but classy, the place is always slammed (that should speak for itself)z We split the oysters, the mushroom pizza and a bottle of rose'. Wanted to try something this time around and found this cute Italian place, didn't know upon putting our name down it has won multiple awards and been recognized for its food but now we know why :) Very cute quant place. Okay so overall 4.5 but half stars aren't an option! We came here last year and wanted to come back. Everything was great food wise but due to the fast changing menu my favorites were no longer on the board! Service IMO could be slightly better. Our server was kind of detached. Didn't even ask us if we wanted refills we had to ask for more drinks. All of the items we ordered were well done and I can't recommend the food enough. The items are fresh well seasoned and cooked well. The ambiance is cute but our table was small and felt a little crowded and unfortunately we were surrounded by two tables of really loud babies. When you spend $219 for lunch you don't want to hear babies the entire meal. I know that's not the restaurants fault per se but they sat the second baby mid meal so maybe spread them out for other people. I do recommend you give this place a try and hopefully they bring back my pasta fav! read more

Nope. No outdoor seating. Realistically, the only way they could be dog friendly is if Fido is allowed to sit at the table with you.
