Came in Saturday night during car week and was completely blown away by the staff, service and food! We originally planned to dine elsewhere but weren't impressed by the service and Fandango was kind enough to fit us in short notice on a very busy weekend! We started with wine and EXCELLENT martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives, salads and entrees. The staff was very friendly and efficient and the GM even came to our table to make sure we were enjoying our dinner. A lovely place for a romantic date night out. We were seated by the fireplace which created a perfect ambiance for me. We ordered a bottle of Belle Glos Pinot Noir which was real smooth and delicious. Filet Mignon is one of my favorite meals and the one served here did mot disappoint. The duck a l'orange was tender and flavorful and melted in your mouth. The scallop potatoes were a bit lacking and I would've rather had them mashed which it didn't seem could be modified. The veggies were quite tasty as well. We dug into the ice cream stuffed cream puffs which was not an overwhelming dessert! We had the Abalone and the Osso Buco today and it was absolutely delicious. The Abalone was very tender and lightly breaded. The Osso Buco was fork tender and the rice was perfect. Our server, Jorge was very informative and a delightful gentleman. We will sit in his area everytime. read more

We live locally and had been excited to finally try this place after passing by it so many times. We decided to come for our anniversary and were hoping for a special experience. The restaurant itself was lovely and cozy, with a fireplace that made it especially inviting on a cold night. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service really took away from what should have been a memorable evening. We were seated across from another table where their server repeatedly wished the couple "Happy Anniversary." We assumed someone would eventually ask if we were celebrating anything special as well, but no one ever did. More importantly, our server came across as inattentive and, at times, made comments that felt unnecessary and embarrassing in front of other customers. His overall demeanor felt insincere, as though he was simply there to get through the shift rather than provide good hospitality. The customer service skills definitely need improvement. We are actually very generous tippers when we receive good service, but unfortunately, the experience that night did not warrant a tip. Excellent service and wonderful tasting food. The restaurant is very unique - looks like an old house. Inside was clean and the spacing between tables provided ample room for my wife and I. We celebrated our 31st anniversary. They made up the table quickly with streamers and close to the fireplace. We ordered the clam chowder and French onion soup. Both came out piping hot and were very tasty. They also gave us a basket of bread and butter and a small plate of kalamata olives. I had the NY steak and my wife had the Capri chicken. The steak was cooked on a fire grill in the middle of the restaurant. It came out perfectly cooked medium rare, with veggies. The chicken was also very tasty. They surprised us with a complementary desert. Total = $148 (including tip). This place is a bit pricy but certainly worth visiting at least once. read more

I've been coming to Fandango off and on for several years and so booked a reservation for four people on September 9, 2026 expecting a good to great experience. I and my guests were sorely disappointed. I don't know what's going on but the food for each of us was tasteless. The waiter was just OK and the service again was just OK, certainly nothing to "right home about" or I'm afraid deserving of a great recommendation. If it were my first time there I would probably never go back, but as it is, I can't say at that I would go back any time soon. We had dinner at another restaurant the next night at a place that is more famous for just plain old "comfort food" that was much better at a fraction of the cost. We chose this restaurant because it had a good rating and enough reviews. It presents itself as somewhat pretentious. Inside, the atmosphere and coziness look nice. The service itself is organized well. But for this kind of pretentious presentation, the plates and silverware were not polished, with residue from dried water. I ordered duck medium-well, they brought it medium rare. The manager clearly noticed my surprise and offered to cook it more. I think that was a bad idea. The duck tasted as if it had been reheated on the second day. On top of that, it was completely drowned in a sauce that ruined the flavor. The side dish was obviously frozen, packaged vegetables and mashed potatoes with cheese. All of this together created a horrible composition. And even separately, everything tasted bad. My wife simply refused to say or write anything about the osso buco she ordered. What I liked: the bread was good, the olives were good, the orange in the duck they still managed to ruin. The service was good and friendly. What I didn't like: unpolished silverware with hard-water marks. Bottled beer only. I would fire the person who created the menu. The duck was simply terrible both individually and overall. And to the one who cooked it, I would suggest making burritos -- that would probably turn out better. Overall, good marketing, a pretty wrapper, and bad content. They spent money on marketing but didn't have enough left for a good chef and a kitchen team. After that, we went to the brewery next door and had an excellent pizza from a real Italian oven, with good -- not bottled -- beer. All at a price three times cheaper. read more

Delicious food, great service, perfect quaint ambiance! We got the goat cheese salad and Caesar salad to start. Our server was so skilled and remembering the specials and wine list! It was so impressive! For our entree's, we got short ribs with potatoes al gratin and the scallop special. I didn't want to pasta that came with the dish but the server recommended the saffron rice and veggies as a replacement. It still went perfectly. For dessert...we couldn't resist the crème brûlée. A very nice and expensive place. I had the pasta putenesca with egg-based pasta for once which were really good. Food was good but portions just way too big. And especially odd since Italian food is often small portions and it's expected you have several courses. And the server kinda pressed us if we wanted appetizers so I was a bit concerned if just a main course would be enough but it was more than enough! The service was the big let-down. At a place that charges up to $98 for an entrée we should not have to ask for the drinks/wine menu and wait quite a while so we could get some water. Went to fandango's in Pacific Grove for dinner. I ordered scampi and was very disappointed. For one the noodle they used was spaghetti which it would've been much better how they used Angel hair pasta, or even linguine. I've had better shrimp scampi at Olive Garden for a much cheaper price. The sauce was tasty however thicker than just an olive oil wine, garlic butter sauce. It seemed like it had flour to thicken it or cornstarch. We came here for my sister's 60th birthday. The service was wonderful and they celebrated the bday with streamers on the table. We did bring our own sparkling wine (corkage fee $45). The tapas were delicious, the escargot brought us back to Paris, the sand dabs were ok, the goat cheese salad was wonderful!!! We ended the night with the best dessert. Their Grand Marnier soufflé was exquisite. It was light, fluffy, and perfectly not too sweet. Jorge was amazing. My Duck La Orange was perfect but my wife's Chicken Capri was so overcooked it was inedible tough. Service was extremely poor, we waited nearly an hour for our dinner to arrive, and once it arrived, the waiter not wants checked on us. We had wanted to return the chicken, but we're unable to do so. After notifying the waiter when he brought our bill we were brought to desserts which we turned down. Apparently, that was to make up for the meal that my wife was not able to eat. So pleasant for a large older restaurant with a huge fireplace, wood- beamed callings, white tableclothes. We were quickly greeted by our server Pedro who answered questions and shared the specials. He was attentive but not obtrusive throughout the evening. My husband's filet was prepared to perfection. My NY was overcooked but was immediately taken to be replaced. We've lived on the Peniinsula 45 years and have eaten at many of the fine restaurants, but Fandango is our absolute favorite. The decor is festive and charming. The various rooms are warm and cozy. The service is attentive and hospitable. As to the food, we find many items on the menu that we enjoy. The onion soup is a la francais as we like it. Although we only drink an occasional glass of wine, I order a wonderful California. cabernet that I cannot find at retail. The lobster and haricot vert were nicely prepared and presented. Little touches like the dark olives and warm bread were welcome additions. And we loved the creme caramel and cafe Liegeiose for our desserts. It was my first time to have it, so it was surprisingly different...I was expecting calamari rings, but this was nothing like that at all! The service was outstanding. Our waiter was always around to see to our group. And no matter how many tables he saw to, he was never out of reach for refills or questions. And his knowledge of the menu was above board! Unfortunately, this place seems to be going downhill. And, despite being a customer for about 20 years, I think we'll be looking elsewhere from now on. It's not an awful place or anything, just insipid and uninspired. They seem to have no passion or interest for what they're doing. In my latest visit, I got an underseasoned steak, 2 mediocre SMALL lobster tails, a spoonful of tired green beans, and an ice-cream scoop from a scalloped potato casserole. It was hard not to think I could do better at home. Seriously, when is the last time you've been to a $120+ per person "fine dining experience" (that wasn't prix fixe) where do you didn't get ANY options for your vegetable or starch?! Also, basic menu items were unavailable (from the start of dinner service). Pretty pathetic all around. Ambiance is more appealing to the eye than the actual experience. I don't know whose dad is controlling the thermostat, but he needs to be shoved out the back door and the heat turned up. Many people were wearing their coats while dining, since it was so cold...especially for some of us sitting next to the "cute", old, SINGLE PANE windows on a cold night. We came here for New Year's Eve Dinner. It was a Fixed menu with lots of entrees to choose from. Service was wonderful. They're always checking on you. The price per person is $125. Pretty steep and only worth it if you're going to order seafood and steak. Since I'm allergic to shellfish, my options were pretty limited. For appetizer, we had the option between cream of tomato soup or the prawn cocktail. The prawns were huge! The soup was not creamy. For salad, we had the option between Caesar or spinach mimosa. Nothing exciting. For entrees, my son and husband ordered the filet Mignon with two lobster tails (totally worth the $125 each). My daughter ordered the prime rib and I ordered the salmon. For dessert, they ran out of soufflé glacé for us so we ended up with profiteroles and chocolate mousse. Overall the food was decent. If we ordered this off the menu, I don't think we would've spent anything close to $500 when with cocktails. But it's the holidays and I hope the staff was paid well to work on NYE.
