Goulash Soup
Chastity V.

Delicious cheese fondue, a nice and spacious outdoor booth on a dog-friendly patio, excellent service, and a doggie menu for our pup! This place had it all. We were the only customers in the outdoor patio just after 6pm on a Tuesday. Our server was friendly and helpful, and was so kind to our dog. I started with the goulash soup (4/5) which was very savory and hearty. For my entree I got the Swiss cheese fondue (5/5) with a side of sausage - for dipping, it came with a big basket of bread and a plate with broccoli, cauliflower, and apples. This was definitely more than enough for one person, so my partner had some fondue as well. He also got the chicken schnitzel (5/5), which was excellent. Our dog got the chicken and carrots bowl off the doggie menu and loved every bite of it! They also gave him a fresh bowl of water. A wonderful dinner for all of us. We'll definitely be back when we're in Carmel again!

So adorable!

I've lived in this area for years and never knew this place existed! It's so charming inside, with beautiful European wood work and decorations. The food was all excellent. Seasoned very well and as good if not better schnitzel as I have had in Germany. Great service as well. Please please don't ever paint all the cozy charming woodwork WHITE! like they did to the rest of the barnyard:(

Very romantic, very mindful, very cutesy, very demure. Walked in pretty close to the end of their dinner service hours, but were still able to be seated outside on the table with the fireplace--there were plenty of empty tables inside as well, but the weather was nice and so outside dining was the move. I ordered the fondue for 1, and my partner got the pork schnitzel with spatzli--we shared both so that we could enjoy more! I wasn't a fan of the cabbage that came with it, but we cleared out the rest of our food quite easily. Melty cheese is very delicious.

Great spot I come when I am in the area. Great service and ambiance. Good food. Nice plaza and interior has amazing Swiss feeling. Feels like you are away in Swissland. I specially love their onion soup and sausages. Can't find this anywhere else. I truly love this place. Feels welcoming. This place took care of my new child and asked to come again. While I was there I can see the regulars and just mention my usual to the server. This is how ideal a restaurant should be with class. The rest rooms are clean as well.... Man I think the Swiss culture and its legend is preserved here. Come check it out and the prices are great as well with good portion size. The creator of this place Andre has passed but we can appreciate his careful crafting of this spot. May it last into the generations. Wish you well Andre L!!! You definitely made a hit of this Jem of a place...... make many patrons happy with you food my man... cheers to you for your hardworking. And glad to say I am enjoying it even after you have left the place. Very satisfied with this spot

While visiting Carmel we were staying close to The Barnyard which is where this restaurant is located. We love fondue and enjoy the experience, so we decided to come here for dinner. The restaurant wasn't very busy but we went kind of early as we had been traveling all day and were pretty exhausted. The restaurant is very cute, located on the lower level. The service was excellent. The food was very good too. Not the best fondue I've ever had (Mona Lisa Fondue in Manitou Springs, Colorado has been my favorite), but this was very good. We had fun and I would recommend

I went on June 25, 2025. The server Luis was exceptional, excellent, knowledgeable and very helpful. I would go back there just to have him as my server again. The food presentation was wonderful and it was delicious.

We booked a reservation and arrived about 5 minutes before our reservation time, however we were not seated until almost 20 minutes after our reservation had started. If you go to La Fondue, I would plan for about 2 hours for your meal if you choose one of the coursed meals. While the restaurant was slow to seat us, the team was attentive once we were seated. Most of us ordered the fondue feast, and since we were a party of 8 we got the choice of 2 types of cheeses. We chose the stinking rose and four cheese, both of which were delicious. A selection of bread, potatoes, pickles, and fruits are brought out to dip in the cheese, and the staff will bring out more on request. Most of our party got the fondue feast, so there was lots of variety in the types of meats we were served. Some of the standouts were the duck and the boar. The spatulas given were a little difficult to use when flipping the meats, but other than that our grilling experience went smoothly. Our meal ended with chocolate fondue, served with a wide variety of desserts to dip in it. We chose the decadent one and chocotastic flavors, both of which were delicious. My favorites to dip in the fondue were the fruits, but they offer everything from strawberries to pound cake to cream puffs to cookie dough bites! Overall, I would definitely come back, but likely during a less busy time to avoid waiting so long before being seated.

I went with a group for a business dinner and made a reservation about a week prior. Our server was very knowledgeable and nice and incredibly attentive. We ordered a couple of bottles of wine and she repeatedly came and refilled our glasses. We ordered the calamari, beet salad and crab and avocado salad to share for starters. All were delicious and I really enjoyed the calamari. For entrees 3 of the group ordered the daily fish special and highly enjoyed it. I opted for the scallops and they were very delicious! The desserts were the star of the show and we tried one of each on the menu! The bread pudding was my favorite while all others were amazing as well! I highly recommend this place!

Wanted to start with the Spanish rose bubbly prominently suggested on the menu but was told they were out of it. Instead ordered the pinot noir (there were only three wines available by the glass), which was quite good. Started with smoked trout ceviche over lettuce to be gluten-free or over a tostada. The trout was spicy from minced serrano and tasted better with the lettuce than the tostada. The portion size was a bit small. The entrees included albacore tuna crusted with sesame seeds. It was lightly seared and the interior of the fish was a bit too cool. It came with cauliflower puree and chard. The other was the halibut, which was delicious although too salty, perhaps because of the miso-based sauce it was served in. It came with a couple of small pieces of leeks that were a bit too rich from the butter they were sauteed in. We were the first people of the evening to try the Roquefort blue cheese ice cream that came with crushed candied walnuts and honey. It was a riff on a cheese plate. It was different, and not bad at all; it was creative but I probably wouldn't get it again. The atmosphere has not changed in the past 10 years and it remains a cozy space that is not too loud.

My wife and I split entrees, skirt steak with fries and the house cheese burger and fries. Both were cooked to the temperature that we requested. The burger had great flavor (other than my preference for mayonnaise, and not the sweet spread and B&B pickles). My fault, I should have requested to eliminate those. Both the steak and the burger had a great chargrill flavor. Huey was our waiter. He was friendly, but a little elusive. The only real negative was the new metal dining table we were eating on was well over 100 degrees, as we were sitting in the direct sunlight. Huey confirmed these were new tables purchased during the recent renovation of PB Lodge. Not only could we not touch the table without getting burned, it heated up our utensils so hot, they were too hot to handle. This is a significant issue for Stillwater. I suspect these will all be replaced sometime this year, or Stillwater will start using tablecloths. Come check out the newly remodeled Stillwater and try their burger, sans sauce and pickles.

It's a really cool lunch spot with a great atmosphere. We opted for a table inside. Our indoor table overlooked the patio, which had plenty of tables, a fire pit, and some beautiful green plants. The menu here has enough options to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. Pastas, salads, burgers, soups, seafood, steaks, sandwiches, and a good assortment of starters. Perusing the starters, we decided to go with an assortment of small bites. We ordered the Spicy Thai Wings - A large portion of Thai spice-marinated chicken wings with an orange glaze. Wow! So delicious. These are addictive. The spiciness was perfect - a good amount of heat without having to call the fire department. We also ordered the Ahi Poke Ceviche, which, although good, could use some improvement. I wouldn't call it Ceviche - it was more like a guacamole with some Ahi Tuna and lettuce mixed in. It was served with wonton chips, which fell apart the minute we dipped them into the pile of avocado & fish. Overall, the flavor of the dish was tasty, but serving the dish with the delicate wonton chips failed in its intended execution. We ended up sprinkling the wonton pieces over the Poke. Still delicious, though. And finally, are you sitting down?....Blue Cheese Steak Bites! Yep, you read that right. OMG, these are to die for. Little pieces of steak stuffed with blue cheese, wrapped in bacon, and drizzled with honey mustard. Heaven on a plate! OK - that's the food. Service was great. Atmosphere was chill. The cocktails were inspired. We were there mid-week, and parking at this mall was easy. If you're at Del Monte Center in Monterey, I highly recommend Lalla Grill. They have another location downtown, too, if you're out and about on Cannery Row.

This was one of the best I've had. I like that it was more on the shredded side so it could cook evenly. (I hate when places halve the sprouts, but then don't bake it through. These were cooked to perfection here.) The crab dip was amazing...it's the morning after as I'm typing this and my daughter is still raving about the crab dip. We all agreed that it was worthy of the price tag bc there was a good amount of real crab in it. We really enjoyed the taste and texture. We wished there were more of the garlic bread for dipping! We waited for the clam chowder bread bowl to arrive, and tore into it so we could use that to dip! I got the Cioppino, wife got the Crab Pasta and the kids got Fish N Chips + Chicken Tenders. I was very surprised to see a generous amount of crab in my soup. At some places, you get a claw and check that box off but not here. In addition to the real crab, there was a few giant shrimp, mussels, clams, fish, and calamari. Man...everything was very fresh and delicious. I would even have to probably say the best I've ever had! The soup was seasoned to perfection and not too tart. My wife's crab pasta was also very good! I shared mine with her and we swapped for a bit just to sample other dishes here. The kids plates were also high quality as expected from this nice restaurant inside the Monterey Plaza Hotel. To make my bday weekend even better I was able to score a spot right in front of the hotel which isn't easy since it was a non-raining Saturday. This is definitely a "come back and eat" place the next time we're in Monterey.
