On our almost 8 hour trek to San Francisco, my BFF planned for us to reserve an inn in Carmel to sleep and rest up before we finish the last leg of our trip. One of the things I was looking forward to on our leisurely drive up the 101 freeway to the Bay Area was the 17-mile drive in the Carmel/Monterey area close to the Pebble Beach PGA golf course. After a restful respite, we started on the 17-mile drive that included 17 stops to take beautiful and breathtaking pictures. We had planned to eat breakfast during this scenic drive and decided to stop at #14 to grub at the Gallery Cafe, which overlooks the start of the Pebble Beach golf course. The Gallery Cafe served one of the best biscuits and gravy, flapjacks, and a cinnamon roll that was to die for. Besides the memorable food, we received excellent customer service from our server Ana. Gallery Cafe is located where the Pebble Beach golf course starts. Specifically, it can be found at Spot #14 of the 17-mile drive. It's just a short walk from the Welcome Center, a short walk up from The Lodge, and it just above where the Pebble Beach golf course shops and restaurants can be found. There is plenty of visitor parking. As you enter the restaurant, you'll be immersed with framed pics of some of golf's greats like Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. One of the great things about dining here is seeing golfers hit their first drive towards the fairway of one of the best golf courses in the world. It's a spacious restaurant with wooden tables and cushioned seats. There is plenty of covered outdoor seating where you get a closer look of the golf course. There's also bar top seating for adult beverages. Make sure to pay for the 17-mile drive because that fee will be taken off of your bill if you spend more than $35. Our server Ana provided attentive, friendly, and impeccable customer service providing great recommendations. Service was prompt and Ana checked on us at a good pace. When the wifey and I discussed what we wanted to eat for breakfast, I asked that we eat somewhere that served a traditional breakfast. At the Pebble Beach golf course, there are several options to dine at. We initially thought we'd look for a restaurant at The Lodge, but as we were walking, I saw a staff member and asked where a good restaurant was to eat breakfast and he recommended the Gallery Cafe. They serve a variety of coffee, blended drinks, omelets and egg plates, specialties, griddle dishes, traditional breakfast items, and sides and small bites. I selected a biscuit and gravy, stack of 3 pancakes, and my wife and I shared the recommended house-made sticky roll. That biscuit and gravy was one of the best I've ever eaten. The biscuit was fresh, rosemary flavored, and covered with a creamy, hearty, and savory gravy. It was really tasty and I enjoyed every single bite. The pancakes were fresh, sprinkled with powder sugar, and I made sure to coat each flapjack with their whipped butter. They were a good size and I couldn't finish all three pancakes. Make sure to order the house-made sticky roll, which is made fresh daily, comes in a cinnamon swirl, and it's covered with warm cream cheese frosting. It was too beautiful to eat, but we couldn't resist and loved how luscious it was. This sticky roll satisfied our sweet tooth, it was creamy, and the cream cheese frosting was finger licking delicious. If you're visiting Carmel/Monterey, I highly recommend experiencing the 17-mile drive. Part of that drive will involve visiting spot #14, so make sure to stop here to enjoy delectable grub at the Gallery Cafe. read more

We have eaten lunch at Gallery Cafe many times. We bike 17 mile drive and stop here for lunch. It's an awesome location, with beautiful views of the golf course and peek-a-boo ocean views. The outdoor terrace is especially nice on a warm day, like today. I have ordered almost everything on the menu and all of it is good to great. My go to is chicken quesadilla and hubs fave is the Reuben. These are both solid. Service is great here. If you order a soda, they are all about keeping your glass full. Thanks for that! We prefer to come to this restaurant over riding all the way into downtown Carmel, where prices are higher and the food isn't better. If you eat at the restaurant, your admission to 17 mile drive is comped. So there you go! Have a great lunch! read more

No wait and delicious entrees. The service was not timely but once the orders were in the food arrived about 20 minutes later. Very tasty fish tacos stuffed with fresh veggies and avocado, sour cream and pico on the side. We ate a late breakfast on the outside balcony overlooking the putting green at Pebble Beach. It was a very nice experience and the food was delicious. Aidan was our server and gave us a lot of good recommendations on what to try. He was attentive and professional. Overall the service was excellent. The food was amazing. Two of us ordered the steak and eggs. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly and accompanied well by the potatoes. The sauces were a great finish. Highly recommend this restaurant and it's an extra bonus if you get to sit outside on a nice day. read more

We came here a few weeks ago for lunch on a Monday. The restaurant has the feel of a diner and the menu pretty much matches that description. We were seated right away but we sat there for at least 15 minutes before anyone came to the table and acknowledged us. The server seemed friendly enough, it seemed as if the restaurant was understaffed on this day. We ordered some drinks that came pretty quickly, but after ordering the food it took forever to come to us. I had the salmon caesar salad and it was horrible. The salmon was very overcooked and dry as a bone. Instead of croutons on the salad the were slices of burnt garlic toast around the plate. This was the first time I've ever had a bad Caesar salad. Save yourself $27 and don't order this salad here. My husband had the had classic burger which he said was good. There are nicer restaurant at pebble beach with better food and service for the same price as this place. We will not be coming here again, we can get a better return for our money elsewhere. read more

Was about 30 minutes to close, service started kind of slowly & after the food was dropped off we weren't checked on again and had to flag someone down to get our check but the kitchen was on point all of our food came out at the same time, hot and correct. It was also really good I got a hot dog with pulled pork and bacon and the wife got the killer klub. The onion rings we super crunchy and the pulled pork was smoky and complimented the hot dog well. The soup of the day sounded unusual: corned beef vegetable, but boy, was it yummy. We also ordered wine by the glass. Made a pitstop at Gallery Cafe while on a coastal California road trip. All went according to plan as we entered 17 mile drive around 9am on Friday and were seated at Gallery Cafe by 9:30am. We decided on Gallery Cafe because of its casual lodge vibe. Also, pro tip: if you are looking to do the 17 mile scenic tour and want to avoid the entry fee (~$11.50), be sure to dine in 17 mile drive and mention that upon entering. We were seated pretty immediately and ordered some breakfast egg items. Food and coffee was good - relatively standard breakfast with well-sized portions. Our server made sure to have my coffee filled to the rim at all times. Overall, I'm glad to have checked off "dining at a restaurant on 17 mile drive" but not sure I'll do it again. COVID Measures: The Gallery Cafe has instituted several COVID19 Measures including limiting capacity, requiring customers to wear masks, etc. Location: Located right next to the Pebble Beach Golf Course, the Gallery Cafe is located perfectly for viewing the course, especially if you have an outdoor seat. Sunday, 8/16/2020 - Went and tried Gallery Cafe this beautiful and gorgeous day. Upon arrival, we were the only ones at the front desk. The place is beautiful, clean, and staff very friendly. We waited about 10 minutes for a table to be free so that they can push 2 tables together so we can all sit. The pictures hung inside the restaurant was beautiful. Pros: 1) place is clean, women's bathroom clean and well stocked. There's 2 stalls. 2) staff were all friendly and talked to all of us. 3) we were seated within 10 minutes. 4) After being seated, they brought us all a nice cold glass of ice water. Just what we all needed. 5) All of our foods were good. Salad was normal salad. Burger was good. 6) food portion size is pretty large. 7) they refilled our water cups. 8) server split our checks. Very sweet. 9) we had to get boxes to go. 10) everyone we met here, even the patrons, were extremely nice. 11) You have to pay to take the 17 mile scenic drive. But we ate here (over $30) and they deducted the entrance fee off our tab. Cons: I have no negative remarks. Conclusion: I like this place. Be prepare to share a plate or take half to go. I was going to give this restaurant 5 stars because the food was very good and the service was good as well. The bathroom was clean. The reason I am taking stars off is they did not mention to us that if we eat there we can deduct the entrance fee for the 17 mile tour. When I read some reviews and realized this, I called them and they said they need the physical receipt to do this. They would not accept an email copy of the receipt. I was wondering why this place had 3.7 stars when the food was good, but I realize why now. If you really cared about the customer, you would give them this information. read more

Decided to come here because it was one of the few restaurants in the 17-mile drive open early for breakfast. I would say this is like your standard café with a great selection of options. Depending on where you are sitting, you can get a corner view of the golf course. This is a great option to go to on your 17-mile drive. read more

It was the day after my wife's birthday and her girlfriends invited her out to celebrate. They directed my wife to drive to The Gallery Cafe in Pebble Beach. The restaurant is located on 17-mile drive and there is a $12.00 Toll to drive on this road to get there. The gate keeper assured my wife that the Cafe would reverse the charge on her credit card. They did NOT reverse that charge. Of course, my wife's friends paid the check for her birthday. So, the Cafe refused to refund my wife's toll, because her friends paid the check! It's a horribly flawed monetary system, bordering on racketeering. I called the Cafe and got the General Manager's email address. I wrote to Dustin Bowsher and he did not even show me the courtesy of a reply. I then emailed Andrew Silver at the Pebble Beach Corporation, and he refused to rebate our money. It's a criminal enterprise at Pebble Beach Company. They charge you money to drive on their road to their restaurant, with the promise of a refund, then they keep your money! read more

Our last day at the Pebble Beach Resort, we had breakfast at the Gallery Cafe before we headed to the airport. I had a just a plain belgium waffle with butter and maple syrup. The best cinnamon roll we've ever had. The food is affordable and cafe style. It was nothing spectacular but wasn't bad. I would come here over and over for their homemade cinnamon roll. I'm surprised at the so-so score for this restaurant! We ate at The Gallery Cafe for two breakfasts during our stay at Pebble Beach. We had the "make your own" omelet and I selected bacon, spinach, Monterey Jack, tomatoes and mushrooms. It came with toast and potatoes. My husband also "made" an omelette with sausage, bacon, pepper Jack, cheddar, and "all the veggies". The next morning, he had a breakfast burrito and I had a Crispy Crunchy Wrap with chorizo, potatoes, eggs, bits of fried corn tortillas folded in. The wrap was also grilled like a quesadilla, so it had a lot of good textures inside and out. Coffee was always hot and strong and service was impeccable. A great start at a beautiful resort. So I came here for breakfast on Christmas day. I had the eggs benedict and I had a drink called the "eye opener" or something called like that. The eggs benedict was cooked to perfection and the drink was really good. It was made with Grey Goose Vodka, OJ and Cranberry juice. But what made this place, was the bartender named Christian. Very personable and attentive. After eating, I must have had 2 more drinks. Christian just made you feel wanting to stay longer. He was a good Schmoozer. He's definitely perfect for his job. I also wanted to mention that he was such a hard worker. He was hosting, running food to the tables and doing everything he could do to help others, all while working the bar. When I was ready to pay the bill, he had asked me if I took the 17-mile drive to get there and if I had the receipt. You'll get credit for the $10.25...luckily I did. So, the next day I decided to come back. But this time I wanted to try the Stillwater Bar & Grill(see my review). After eating I decided to have a couple of drinks at the Gallery, luckily Christian was working again. He, along with the other bartender and even the cook remembered me and welcome me back. It's good food and great service that will ALWAYS bring back customers. I plan on coming back this summer and i will definitely stop by the Gallery Cafe. read more

Perfect lunch spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Towards the end of the 17 Miles Drive when coming from Carmel side. It's near the parking lot so you can find it right away. The restaurant has a nice view of the golf course and ocean. The service was good. Absolutely loved the fish tacos! The tilapia was nicely seasoned and loved that it was served warm inside of toasted flour tortillas. The guacamole could've been better but the salsa was good that came with the dish. There's a flavorful chipotle sauce that was tasty, too. My friend enjoyed her ultimate burger. The rosemary garlic fries didn't taste garlicky but was still good. Highly RECOMMEND the fish tacos!
