They had a water feature with some fish and a few tables and chairs. Some patrons chatted, read books, or laid on the stone bench around the water feature/fountain to enjoy the sun. Got an iced peach black tea and a hot chai and the quality of the tea leaves were great. Tea had great flavor and the employees were friendly. We stopped in around noon as a much more affordable alternative to grabbing coffee inside the aquarium. A quick tip for anyone visiting: make sure to go straight to the lower level! I'm sitting next to a grand piano sipping a matcha while jazz music plays. A trio of strangers discuss the pros of wearing Hokas. I feel like I'm in Cafe Roosters in Animal Crossing. Very quaint vibes. The fact that they serve gluten free pastries is a huge plus as there aren't many places in my area that offer GF options. After you get your drinks, there's a table with milks and creamers and syrups where you can customize however you like. This tickled my ADHD brain as I played mad scientist with my matcha latte. Having always stayed at the hotel across the street for 15 years, I've always walked right past this place and haven't ever gone inside, until today. I was itching for an iced coffee since my Starbucks a block away closed down. They have many different options in terms of pour over roasts and syrups, including sugar free, to add into your coffee and iced coffee. Today I ordered a pour over dark roast iced coffee with sugar free caramel and almond milk and it really hit the spot the service was kind and very quick. There is also outdoor seating that is shady, and it's very nice and quiet. It's the perfect spot to bring your laptop to get some work in. Super pretty outdoor space, great espresso from local ACME Roasters, awesome pour overs, and very friendly and accommodating staff. It's connected to a lovely music venue AND about 15 steps from the InterContinental Hotel. They have a tidy menu of coffee offerings with bean flavor profiles in addition to tea and lattes offered including matcha latte. Their style is in pour over and I enjoyed my light roast. Cute little neighborhood cafe! We dropped by Studio Cafe in the middle of a tour of Monterey Bay Aquarium and were quite pleased by how cute and cozy our caffeine pit stop was! Studio Cafe has a lovely selection of different beans, all made in their pourover station. I love that they list out the flavor profiles for each bean type, and the staff is more than willing to help you find what best suits your tastes. I got one of their darker roasts, featuring rich and nutty flavors and low brightness (my favorite). We enjoyed our beverages in the lovely outdoor patio space, which also features a koi pond and pet turtle. They also have a few gluten free goodies, including two types of muffins and a brownie. They're tasty, especially for something gluten free. We were in Monterey for two days and we stopped by both days to enjoy a morning drink. On the first day, we tried the organic matcha ($7), and on the second day, I had the 90 weight pour over coffee ($5). Both were fantastic. The cafe provides various types of dairy/non-dairy options to make the drink into a milky delight. Before leaving town, we came back for a gluten free brownie ($4). Everything tasted amazing and the patio setting was everything. The only off putting aspect was on one of the days, the owners seemed to be busy entertaining special guests. The space is small, and they were standing near the entrance where the prep station was. We had to move past them to get into the store, to wait outside for our drinks, to come back in to add cream into our drinks, etc. We, as visitors, felt awkward as if our presence interrupted and intruded onto their space. You may think we are a little odd as tourists, but one of our main goals while on vacation, is to try out as many small business owned coffee venues within our vicinity of our stay. Joe K. has an affinity for "pour over" coffee, and I love a good, rich mocha! While on our daily stroll, we came upon this interesting shop that had a lovely patio area near the entrance. Complete with warming concrete benches, flowers, native plants, and trickling waterfall with goldfish leisurely enjoying the day. There is a very nice studio available where they teach yoga classes and sponsor other gatherings. A grand piano is one of the focal points of the room! As we entered the business itself, they had several specialty coffees and teas to choose from, including "pour over". I was a little surprised that they didn't offer mochas, which I thought was a standard staple. So Joe asked them if they could mix one together for me. The barista had me choose one of their main menu items and she proceeded to experiment with some chocolate syrup and milk into a "Motor City Espresso". After adding my own sugar, it turned out to be quite tasty and satisfying. Joe ordered the "Road Dog" which he really enjoyed. Since it was a quiet afternoon, we were able to spend extra time conversing with one of the owners who was very interesting to talk to. He let us wander around and check out the facility further. I was fascinated to find that the studio portion has a small room within that has a complete music sound system. Also, the bathrooms are clean and nicely decorated. What a fantastic hidden gem right on the rec trail! The service is super friendly and the heated bench makes it a great place to slow down and relax for a minute. Came in seeking a simple latte before entering Monterey Bay Aquarium: the location was difficult to find based off the map and the shop is actually behind the main building down the stairs. When we entered the establishment, no one was at the counter, so we decided to peruse the box of $0.50 stickers while waiting and we had high suspicions that some of the artwork used for these stickers were generated with AI (as a creative, I cannot support). Coffee-wise, Studio Cafe only serves Pour-Overs from various beans and prepared on the spot when you order. Wait time is a bit long as expected for pour-overs but due patience comes out with a good reward. And I must say, their coffees here are made perfectly every time. Drinking without cream and sugar, the pour-over that I had (Road Dog) was well balanced and not diluted one bit. It was a great pour-over indeed. I came here another time to try their teas (Fukamushi Sencha) and it was a great cup of tea, not too bitter and not too scolding hot. The service is was friendly with just a two staff crew helping make the drinks and get the orders. They have some local pastries on display but it wasn't too extraordinary to try. It's not too common that you'd see a pour-over/tea shop nowadays but you'll have no problem enjoying what Studio Cafe has to offer here if you are a fan of the mentioned. Come by, buy a drink, and sit outside in their little piazza to enjoy the nice Monterey day with a perfect cup of coffee at Studio Cafe as I know I will be hoping to come back for more, and will recommend to others too. read more

After fighting the tourist crowds on Cannery Row, this seemed a welcomed escape for some Tea or Coffee before hitting the road. The ambiance on the patio is 5 stars. Little tables with umbrellas, rock walls, rock fountain and fish in the fountain. Only a block away from all the riffraff. Stepped inside and saw a wide selection of tea, but a much more limited coffee selection. Was hoping to get a cappuccino or latte, but they don't have steamed milk. Boo. I prefer steamed milk with my tea as well, considering that wasn't an option, I just got a Masala Chai tea. We took our orders to the patio; however, there was a sign hung up that they were filming next door. Staff was so hushed that we felt uncomfortable to chit chat. This place is a hidden gem! I stopped by here after a long day before making a 2 hour drive back home. The place is super relaxing and has a great ambience. They have a large selection of teas at very reasonable prices. I ended up drinking their "Happy" tea which was very light and flavorful. Their coffee was great and their pastries tasted really fresh. The staff was super friendly and conversational as well. They have an outdoor seating area that is filled with plants and gave me a nice coffee shop vibe. I fell in love with this hidden gem in an instant!! One of the most notable things about Studio Cafe is their beautiful ground. Large patio with living plants and hanging lights... It literary feels like you are stepping into someone's backyard, sipping your tea/coffee and absorbing the ambiance - relaxing, calm, almost like a sweet escape from the crowd for a few hours. I had one of their specialty blend tea, "Happy tea" and it definitely made me a happy girl! The tea is a mix of jasmine green tea, raspberry, apple bits, hibiscus and rosehip: I found it pleasant and quite unique, with a sweet and soft quality to the flavor and aroma that I simply adored. Pricing was affordable; $4 for a tall cup of tea. They also offers local pour coffee and gluten free baked goods. In all, Studio Cafe is definitely a breath of fresh air among the hipster cafe scene. After the intensity of going to the Monterey Aquarium This place is nice and out of the way. All coffee is pour over. I had the decaf which was very favorable. However, barista's skill at tea could use improvement. She did not steeped the leaves enough to give flavor given the amount of water. Additionally, the barista was not very friendly when asked about the beverages and evidence an attitude of just getting our drinks out. We we the only customers. There were no other customers waiting for drinks. 5 Stars for coffee, 3 Stars for tea, and 2 starts for welcoming customers.l read more

Can this place be any more damn cute? I've always eyed this place walking along the trail, whd curiousity finally got the best of me. To be honest, I was lulled by the sweet sound of soft rock and a sign that promised a heated bench. First things first, this is a place you should only go to if you're not in a rush. They do coffee and tea pour over style. Which is awesome, but timely. They have local coffee from ACME and organic tea. This is a great place to park and get some work done.
