Both my and my wife's sandwiches had bread, meat, cheese but no onions, mayo, mustard or anything to bring it all together. The sandwiches stood on their own but it just tasted like the ingredients on bread, nothing else. AGAIN, all those components were great but it just didn't come together well at all. I'd still give this place another shot, maybe I mis-ordered, but both sandwiches just felt like they were missing "something".

The staff at the register definitely weren't the friendliest which was a little disappointing. I hope their curtness was due to it being busy. I wasn't necessarily thrilled with the food either. The pizzas tasted good but were super impractical. They were not sliced all the way through and the toppings were the consistency of soup. As soon as we would rip off a slice, all of the toppings would slide right off. The only thing that was left was the dough with some sauce. We had to literally scoop all the toppings up with forks because everything was so soupy and soggy. Their soda machine had really good, crisp soda though! I loved the interior of this restaurant. The decor feels very nostalgic, with the checkboard table clothes and sky-painted ceilings. There is a small bar with TVs and ice cream sold at the entrance. I'd like to give Gianni's another shot!

They handed me a completely black iced coffee. So I essentially paid $6 for them to pour coffee and water over ice. By that point, I was genuinely so irritated hearing the two coworkers make jokes about doing better next time etc that I just walked out. I completely understand that mistakes happen, but the entire situation was handled so poorly. I tried multiple times to resolve the issue, and somehow I still ended up with a drink I didn't want, after wasting both my time and my money. $6 might not seem like a lot, but paying for something you didn't order and then having the situation handled this poorly is incredibly frustrating. Definitely not the experience I expected, and unfortunately, not one I'd want to repeat.

It's a community. This is definitely a locals only place in the heart of touristy downtown. The food is completely sourced from Costco and they use a microwave judiciously. It does not taste great, but it does remind you of mama's sandwiches that she'd put in your lunch bag as a kid. Coffee and coffee drinks are available and rival Starbucks in their variety and "fun" trends. But they also fresh grind different beans and can do classic coffees (like pour over and cappuccino). It is not the best coffee in the entire world, but it kicks my butt in the best way. I can actually taste the love. Do not come to Plumes if you are looking for quality cafe/bakery experience to give you and your girlies mochaccino mustaches that will go viral. Go to Plumes if you want to feel like a normal human being connecting with your community. Some may disagree with my 5 star rating because the quality of food is disappointing to pretty much everyone, but to me this place fits the bill of a real and welcoming coffee shop where the barista remembers your order and you know the owner's name and hobbies. It's a home away from home. And that's why I love it.

There are a half dozen other breakfast spots in town that we enjoy when we are in Monterey - we blew all of them off. This place is too fast and too good, honestly to want to get in the car and head over to any of those other spots. Is this place fancy? No. Is this place big? No! Its tiny! Is the food gourmet? No! Stop asking questions. The food is delicious and hot. The coffee and tea is yummy and hot. Everything is hot. The people are super friendly and hot. I like how real they are too - it's Saturday at 6am, everyone is dragging. I asked the people behind the counter how they were doing and they were (gasp) honest! We don't want to be here! Getting to work at 5am on Saturday is terrible but I respect and appreciate a human response. I really like this place - even the pastries are good and thats a good thing because we bought a bunch of them. I will end with this and then leave you alone - we left this place at 615am and sat down in the main grandstand in Turn 4 at Laguna Seca at 715am to watch epic Historic car racing and sank my teeth into a HOT and beautiful croissant breakfast sandwich with bacon in it in the heavy fog. Everything was wet and cold - I drank my hot tea and ate my food.... and it was simply glorious. Thank you to the real humans at Plumes. Yall rock.

Such a calm and beautiful spot to relax for a little. The coffee is delicious. Our latest order was a lavender latte and it's got a great flavor. We haven't tried their pastries yet, but they have some available if you need a snack, as well as Marianne's ice cream. The inside of the cafe is nice too! There's plenty of tables to sit at and they have board games to play.

I specifically ordered my London Fog and crumb cake for here and even mentioned how much I'd enjoyed the last crumb cake because it had been warmed so well. Instead, my drink was called out and served in a paper to-go cup. When I politely mentioned that I'd ordered it for here, there was no acknowledgment. Small details like that can make customers feel less welcome to stay. I also took one bite of the crumb cake and realized it was dry. I left it on the counter with the plastic fork, but no one asked if anything was wrong or checked in. Again, it's a small thing, but it added to the feeling that hospitality wasn't a priority. Everyone has off days, and this may have been one of them. Still, genuine hospitality is often found in the little things: listening to a customer's request, acknowledging it when it's missed, and making people feel welcome rather than processed.
