I'm from Monterey County in me and my sister decided to do a "Staycation". So we decided to venture out to Pacific Grove. I do know a lot of restaurants since I have worked in the food service industry for longer than I want to talk about. I do know where to get the best breakfast is I know where to get the best lunches and so on. I go to places I know and trust, but this time we decided to try something new. I've heard good things about this place so I decided to try it out as we walked in. We didn't even know if it was open or closed, but the door was open. We walked in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was totally silent, except for some talking in the back, the server assistant was nice and seated us. It was just very eerily quiet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So right then in there, the vibe was off. But hey, we'll give it the benefit of the doubt. My little sister wanted French toast so she got that my other sister got the traditional eggs Benedict and I got the French toast with an egg and sausage. I tasted the eggs Benedict sauce. It was cold and very chalky. I myself did not like it, but I wasn't eating it. Come to my French toast and sausage. The sausage taste like it was cooked three days prior and the French toast had no taste whatsoever!! Not butter not the cheap watery syrup that's warm. The server had no personality. She wasn't friendly or hospitable. It was super quiet in there no music nothing you could hear the kitchen staff talking to the wait staff. Seeing how I work in food service coming in at seven in the morning when they've just opened and their food is not fresh really surprises me. How do you serve cold hollandaise so that means you got it out of the refrigerator you didn't make it fresh. I would not recommend this place whatsoever. I would've been happier with Denny's. And it would've been a lot cheaper. Oh and the coffee sucks!! read more

Bad customer service., there were a lot of people waiting and nobody came and say hello or we will be there in a moment, absolutely nothing . Finally this guy come out and I told him I would like outside instead inside because inside was full of clients. I saw people sign in and leave because they don't have a hostess. I went outside and sit and a big table and this guy told me is for big parties so I sit on the side in a small table and after I was waiting, waiting, waiting and waiting so I took off and went to Starbucks instead. Sheesh, this place is a walk-away from where I live but I've been avoiding it based on a long-ago experience. We went the other day and I loved the pancakes & bacon & coffee. And I've been searching for decent pancakes in this new area where I now live. I'll be returning to Toasties. BUT. I am a HIGHLY sensitive celiac with multiple other food restrictions, and this place WAS SO safe. Our server checked on the brand of bread, made sure the kitchen cooked all my items in a separate pan. I can rarely eat out but Toasties has a few of my safe foods and prepared them separately with kindness. and if you have to be particulat due to allergies, you know how much that kindness matters! read more

I am a local resident and I had breakfast and order berry pancakes with bacon and 2 poached eggs. My eggs were cooked perfectly and my pancakes were light fluffy with plenty of berries. Decided to stop by here to fuel up pre cycling adventure, apparently it was a busy Sunday despite the cold weather. Wait was a little long but food was decent, service was slow Our group of 6 was seated outside in the back area. They did not have room for us inside. There was no heat lamp and area was unfortunately foggy and cold at the time. Food and coffee took a while to get to the table. Love this place. Just happened to find it by accident last Sunday. We were seated right away and the staff was helpful and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a busy little local place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].. I ordered the corned beef and it's made from scratch served with potatoes and toast. It was so delicious all corned beef will be now judged by their standard. My husband had their waffle with a side of bacon and egg. Both were excellent. Toasties is in DT Pacific Grove. We stopped by after playing golf at Spyglass in nearby Pebble Beach. They offer bfast & lunch in a casual setting. I had the Mediterranean salad w/ chicken (up charge). Three friends ordered sandwiches and one ordered bfast. The salad tasted very good, and the amount of chicken was good vs the up charge (I believe its $2). In addition, the produce was fresh. Nonetheless, the portion of salad vs the price was high IMHO. Our waitress was super nice and hardworking. She handled our table of 5 w/ no problem. All in all, a very positive experience. I look forward to trying something heavier next time like country fried steak. read more

This review is only based on the veg omelet I had on a Monday am. I found it to be unappealing and bland tasting. We've had the potatoes before and they've been done perfectly but this time there were some that were overdone and some underdone. I didn't care much for the coffee (but I'm used to Peet's), either. I have to say it's totally on me for ordering the wrong thing. The Benedicts looked delicious and I'm sure the French toast and pancakes are as well. Next time I will get one of those! The waitress we had was efficient but not very friendly but the other waitress was very chatty with the next table but they seemed to be locals, so that seems natural. The place is very cute and cozy. I will give it another try the next time I go to PG. read more

We found this place on a whim in downtown Pacific Grove and decided to try it out. We were not disappointed. The restaurant was quant and cute. There was a lot more seats and room than it looked like from the outside. We were seated fairly quickly, only had to wait about 5 min. The servicer was quick with getting to us and our food was out in no time. My California Scramble was really good, not too heavy and just the right amount of fillings (tomato, avocado, cheese, bacon). The side of bacon was cooked perfectly for me, nice and crispy! We decided to go here because it opens early, 6:30 AM. It is a small, old school place with lots of menu options. The omelets were solid (the right amount of cheese and toppings)and the potatoes were excellent- well seasoned. Best of all it was not super greasy.
