The beer is good and above par of the average microbrewery. Where this place really excels is the food. Is it on the pricier side for a brewery? Yes. But the quality justifies it. The word on the street is definitely out there though and you'll need to sometimes wait 30 minutes for your pizza to arrive so, be patient! The place is small and can get packed on weekends but it's a nice place to sit outside when the weather is nice and they also have live music from time to time.

Grilled cheese and cider

Came here not once but twice on my long weekend trip to the area. The first time I visited was very chill, ordered a grilled cheese on delicious french bread. I'm not a big grilled cheese gal but this was the perfect little snack. Had a cider to pair as one does at a vacation lunch.

Amazing pizza and awesome service! We met with some family here for lunch and a few beers. Hops and Fog is definitely the local spot to be at, it filled up quickly after we sat down. I ordered a Dark Horse seltzer from Crow and Wolf and three pizzas for the table; the Return of the fun guy (mushroom pizza), the TMNT, a 3 cheese pizza, and the PIzzette karbonara. All of the pizzas were excellent, but my favorite was the PIzzette karbonara. This was such a unique flavor combo a brick over pie with miso carbonara sauce, mozzarella, shaved guanciale (pork), grated pecorino, black sesame crumble topped with runny fried egg. I could not get enough of this pie; the miso sauce paired with pecorino and a runny egg was delicious! They use a blonde or white miso in the sauce and it added a deep umami flavor. My kids inhaled the cheese pizza and everyone loved the mushroom pizza and the black truffle sauce that was drizzled on it. Hops and Fog has a front outdoor patio section and small outdoor back area. It's small inside, but there's a handful of tables, a couch, and booths. Street parking is free, but is only good for two hours.

What a gem of a brewery/pub in delightful Pacific Grove. TIKI DAVE ordered the Hazy IPA first (Tela Haze) and it was bursting with juicy goodness. Next I had the regular 'ol IPA (American Beauty) and that was delicious as well. We visited on a Sunday afternoon during the weekend of my 35th High School Reunion weekend. We were flying out the next day before they opened and the pizzas looked so incredible that we ordered THREE to take home to L.A. right then and there. Hops & Fog's menu is surprisingly extensive, including apps, salads & soups, sandwiches and absolutely amazing pies. We ordered the Nueva Margherita ($17) with marinara, stracciatella, parm and fresh basil...The Legend ($24) with marinara, pepperoni, calabrese, Italian sausage, ricotta cheese, garlic cloves and a sweet/hot sherry glaze....and the daily special with white sauce, green beans, squash blossoms... They were all incredible, even the next day, heated up in the oven. I am a pizza snob and I could tell this place puts out amazing pizza. The crust had wonderful flavor, a good chew and the toppings were amazing. I loved all of them but man, that Legend was SICK. TIKI DAVE & TIKI DAVE'S TERRIFIC TRIPS highly highly highly recommends Hops & Fog Brewing Company! They were even gracious enough to display my business cards! If you didn't get one, please follow me on social media (Facebook & Instagram) and feel free to DM me with any questions at all!

I've been meaning to visit here for ages, glad I finally did. I'm a huge fan of this place. The vibe is lively and chill. Service is lovely. Solid selections of beverages. I had a pizza with non-dairy cheese. The crust was outstanding, with a great chew, just-right char, some of the better thin-crust pizza I've had. My one constructive suggestion is they could up their non-dairy cheese game. The binders in standard non-dairy cheese have a subpar texture when they melt. Miyoko's makes a fabulous cashew-based mozzarella pizza cheese that eschews binders and is a dense liquid rather than solid, and it's a remarkably good substitute for real mozzarella di bufala. Local chain Pizza My Heart uses it, and I wish more restaurants did, and I'm on a one-man mission to nudge them to at least consider it. But either way, I'll be back, as the Terminator famously said.

Rocket Power Pannuozzo with Hummus

We were all really hungry when we got there, so maybe anything we ate would've been fine, but we were super happy to have amazing food at Hops and Fog! The Bruschetta with Tomato Jam! The Rocket Power Pannuozzo with Hummus! OMG just outstanding flavors. Didn't have any beer, and they don't offer soda. Will definitely return when we're back in town.

the legend & the pesto artichoke pizzas, homemade ranch, and pg passion sour beer

Stayed nearby and decided to come over for dinner. Very lively on a Wednesday night with a cozy atmosphere. The service was great, you order and pay at the bar before the food is brought to you. The pizzas did take a bit to come out, but when they did, they were amazing! The legend pizza was delicious, with a tasty hot honey flavor. We paired this with the homemade ranch, which was okay -- it kind of reminded us of sour cream. The crust was also a bit flimsy by the time we got to the last piece. The pesto artichoke pizza was our favorite, so refreshing and flavorful! The lemon on it was great without being overpowering. My boyfriend also looooved his beer, the PG Passion Sour! Definitely recommend for anyone in the area!!

Prosciutto and melon (2 orders)

- plenty of side and street parking - small interior but we got to to and ate by the beach! (1) the legend pizza - loved this! So so yummy. The dough was perfectly floppy, thin, and had a flavor like sourdough? The tomato sauce underneath had an acidic kick which paired well with the salty meats and creamy cheese topping (2) prosciutto and melon - average dish it was a good refreshing starter, the oil drizzled on top was a little too much for me!

Return of the fun guy (fungi pizza)
Devin M.

8.7 Pizza was excellent and definitely worth trying! We ordered the Nueva Margherita and the Return of the Fun Guy (fungi pizza), and both were fantastic. Starting with the Return of the Fun Guy, this pizza featured black truffle velouté, mozzarella, a medley of mushrooms, hazelnuts, and tarragon pesto. The flavor was rich, savory, and incredibly satisfying. The truffle and mushroom combination worked perfectly together, creating a well-balanced pizza that wasn't overly heavy. The tarragon pesto was a pleasant surprise, especially since I'm usually not a huge pesto fan. My only minor criticism is that I would have liked a few more mushrooms on the pizza, but overall it was outstanding. The star of the meal was the Nueva Margherita. This elevated take on a traditional Margherita pizza came topped with house marinara, stracciatella, Parmesan, and fresh basil. The addition of the creamy stracciatella brought the pizza to another level and made every bite incredibly flavorful. The sauce was bright and fresh, the cheese was rich and plentiful, and the basil tied everything together perfectly. This is an absolute must-order. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. The ambiance leans more toward a lively bar atmosphere with close seating. Overall, both pizzas were delicious. I'd happily order either one again and highly recommend giving them a try.

What a great local pizza place! Their dough is soooo good, that's where it all starts. But then mix that with amazing toppings, it's a win-win every time! And then there's the beer, not only do they have some great brews of their own, they also feature beers from other local brewers that know what they're doing as well! We ordered the Lemon Artichoke Pesto and the Legend, both were amazing and were full of flavor and amazing topping combinations. The service was fast and the bartenders had great personalities and made you feel at home. I liked the place so much, I bought the t-shirt! The place has a great vibe, with many locals hanging out and meeting there. Don't even think about it, just go, you'll love it.

Stopping by if you're in the area, the pizza is great. The ambience is great. Everything about it is great. Come on by. If you're ever in the area, you'll find me, Biff, Tony, Jolina, and Chito.

Panuozzo: Basically a pizza crust with sandwich ingrediants inside, ate way more than I should have

Perfect lunch in Pacific Grove. We love this area of Monterey and after a recent trip to the aquarium we came here for lunch and then took the kids to the Great Tidepool area of Alisomar State beach. It's located on that main street where all the main restaurants are in Pacific Grove and we really felt like pizza this day. The big thing I want to point out is there dough, it really reminded me of Italian dough, a very deceptively simple taste but a perfect slight chewiness amplified by cooking at very high heat. I dont like crust or dough that much and normally ripe the crust off pizza but I ate every bite here! Toward the back you can see an area where the beer is brewed on site. Panuozzo: Basically a pizza crust with sandwich ingrediants inside. Calabrese, black forest ham, romaine, pickled peppers, tomato, red wine vinegar. The size was pretty large so I split it with my wife and it was so good I ate the large piece she couldn't finish it. Stevo Supreme Pizza: House marinara, Italian sausage, red onion jam, mushrooms, mozzarella, Parmesan. The red onion jam made this a bit more "special" and gave it a unique taste. Would repeat! They seem to change u their pizza menus often. Gem Salad with Hazelnuts: We didn't even have to force the kids to eat this, it was SO good. In the future we would order 2 of these for family of 4. Bee's Knees Honey Blonde Ale: Very good paired with their pizza! And brewed right on site! Service was excellent, we had help very quickly after sitting down and we saw every staff member help rearrange chairs and tables to accommodate a large group.

Does the patio allow dogs?

Absolutely!! We love em

Thick or thin crust pizza?

We make Neapolitan style pizzas with a very thin center and really thick and airy edges (we call them handles:). The dough takes days to make as we make a biga starter, then let it ferment, then make the dough and let it ferment, then portion it.…

Does your establishment allow kids since there is food or is it for adults only?

Hello, yes, we are totally family friendly! we have some games for kids and old school cream sodas (and juices and water). Stop in and say hello!

I'm 99% sure he still uses Molinari salami because the flavor, texture, and taste are absolutely impeccable. Italian dry salami quality in sandwich delis in the United States has drastically declined in the last couple decades. Not here though thankfully. The selection of uncommon chips and drinks is still top-notch...this has to be the only place I've ever seen Faygo in the Monterey area! The deviled eggs are still great also. I got there too late for broccoli salad. Bennett is still running the register, cracking jokes, and making smiles happen for his old regulars. And it looks like he has a really good crew currently. We will be back again and again. While I do enjoy the more upscale Italian sandwiches of Coniglio Bros on cannery row once in awhile, nothing slaps like a sandwich from an old school neighborhood minimart deli. There is a wide variety of bread, meat, and cheese options so everyone can find something they like. Be very cautious if you order a whole sandwich because saying they are huge is an understatement. When you are ready to order, you bring the sheet to the back left deli counter where they have their display and desserts. While we waited for our sandwiches, we took some time to look around the market. It is fantastic! The decor is lovely. The items they have in stock is also impressive. They have your basic items like chips and soda, but also a large international snack section. There are shelves of foreign chip flavors and drinks which is very neat. They also have a super wide variety of domestic products that you can't typically find everywhere. I was thoroughly impressed with all they have to offer. The sandwich itself was the cherry on the cake. It was the biggest sandwich I have ever seen. I was shocked at how thick and heavy it was. It was incredibly affordable too! It tasted delicious and very fresh. I will definitely be a repeat customer whenever I am in the area.

He immediately greeted everyone who came in, he shared about their specials and happily accommodated a food sensitivity. We were handed a number for our table and got to seat ourselves. There is an outdoor patio with plenty of sun and a view of the water as well as the sound of some incredibly vocal sea lions, so that's where we ended up. The food came out quickly. When we arrived they had a small parking lot but busy because they do a lot of Door Dash and Uber Eats business. Once inside I took a quick look at the menu and saw they had breakfast burritos of either Chorizo-Sausage-Ham-Bacon or Veggie. I chose Chorizo breakfast burrito($10.39) The shop is run by the owner-he was the cashier and the cook. In talking to him,he was telling me that his family owns multiple Mexican small shops like this in the Juarez Mexico area and El Paso Texas area.Says that all the shops use the same recipe for their hot sauce that is served with the burritos. Once the burrito arrived,it was both heavy and warm.Once I cut it open,I was able to appreciate the craftsmanship of this burrito in all its chorizo, egg, potato and cheese glory-it was beautiful. I've had many breakfast burritos in my day and as unexpected as this is to say, this may have been the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. Also the aforementioned family-recipe hot sauce that came with the burrito was so spicy yet so tasty--perfect combo to a perfect burrito.
