    Portabello Mushroom sandwich

Let me do a 11 year update. Friday noonish, not terrible busy about two thirds full. A quick check in and shown to our table. Through out our time there it seemed we were just another ticket with no interaction by both our waiter and the busboy...more matter of fact. I've had more interaction at most Denny's Not as relaxing as I remembered. Food was good but not rememberable or anything you would brag about. Is it a spot I would send a friend visiting the bay? It's not hard to make this a 50 dollar lunch for two. But is it? Last words...not that charming.

Popular and busy restaurant, especially for breakfast. Staff are excellent and do a good job seating and serving in a busy place. I went when they had the breakfast menu and had the chorizo scramble and crab cakes Benedict. Everything was delicious and they are good at flavors here. Note that they charge 3 percent for credit card payments. I would like to go back and try the lunch and dinner menu.

Such a delightful place to eat and such a warm environment! Sat outside due to having our pup with us and the server was kind and attentive in getting us heaters. Half the table got their burger and it was delicious. Calamari steak sandwich and soup are a must! Stop by if you're in the area for some yummy food.

Had a great lunch today on our trip to Pacific Grove. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We sat a a cute table for two by the window. I ordered the oven roasted chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the chorizo and eggs. We also got a bowl of fresh fruit with honeyed cream. Everything was delicious. My chicken sandwich was so good. The chorizo and eggs came with potatoes and they were excellent. The fruit bowl was nice and refreshing. For dessert we shared a piece of Olallieberry pie from Gizdich farms. That pie is amazing. If you ever have a chance to go to Gizdich Farms in person, in Watsonville, you should definitely try it. You can buy whole pies to take home. I really recommend trying the Red House Cafe if you're in the area.

We were looking for a brunch spot and Red House Cafe is the place to go! Got here around 11am on Saturday with no wit and sat outside on the patio. What we ordered - country breakfast with sunny side up eggs with bacon & country ham - pancakes This was such a delicious breakfast. I'm normally not a fan of breakfast potatoes but these were nicely seasoned, flavorful and crispy. The pancakes were super fluffy too. We really enjoyed the food!

Thank you Yelp for this gem of a find! Did a weekend getaway to Pacific Grove and stumbled upon this cute restaurant while browsing through Yelp. Staff and Service: - Everyone here was incredibly kind and helpful - Despite it being busy, every table was taken care of in a very timely manner Food and Drinks: - Bloody Mary: 9/10. The only reason for the docked point is because the olives had seeds in them - Lemonade: I would go back just for this lemonade. I think this was the best lemonade I've ever had. It was fresh, it was tart, it was slightly sweet. It was phenomenal. - Chorizo and Eggs: this dish was so tasty as well. From the seasoned potatoes to the flavorful chorizo and eggs. I do wish the tortillas were a little smaller, but that's not a dink to the experience at all - Smoked Salmon Benedict: okay so....imagine a really good Benedict, and this will top that. Instead of an English muffin or toast (I've seen both), this was on a croissant! This dish was so flavorful. Miscellaneous: - Parking is available via the parking spots in the middle of the street - Be mindful of peak meal hours as it did get crowded shortly after we arrived - Breakfast and lunch is served - I hope to visit again and would definitely add this to my list

This place is a cute spot on the main street in Pacific Grove. They have a nice wrap-around balcony. When we got there around noon on a Saturday, they didn't have seating inside, but there was some available outside. I felt like everything was just fine, nothing really outstanding. My frittata was kind of bland. It did come with a salsa that I could put on top, but that salsa was just spicy and not really any flavor other than spicy. I liked everything, but I expected it to be more exciting seeing the crowds. My mom got the portabello mushroom sandwich, which was huge and pretty tasty, though it says on the menu that all sandwiches are served with an orzo salad, which this wasn't. I guess you could pay to get fries or something in addition if you want a side. The sandwich was served on gigantic bread. I felt like the service was nice, but a little average. They had a lot of staff who walked by our table a lot, but it was a little hard to get our bill at the end. Not like I wouldn't go back or anything, but I'd try something different. The burger someone ordered looked pretty good!

So happy to see that Red House Cafe survived the pandemic! I first ate here in 2019 and finally got to come back almost 6 years later. The major changes I noticed since last time were: 1. They added a bunch of outdoor seating out front! We didn't have to wait for a table this time which was great. 2. Their prices have increased pretty significantly over the past few years. The portions are smaller as well which is unfortunate, but understandable given the rising costs of everything. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict (my favorite), Cinnamon Brioche French Toast, and Chai Latte. The chai was actually incredible. Sweet, creamy, and heavy on the cinnamon! Overall, I have such a soft spot for this place and am looking forward to coming back.

We were luckily seated right away on a Sunday afternoon! We sat outside and got to enjoy the beautiful weather in November. This place is delightful! We both loved our entrees to start off our trip! Our server recommended the Portobello mushroom sandwich and it blew us away. My honey ordered something with salmon, I can't recall but he loved my sandwich! It was flavorful and unique. It comes with a small side of orzo salad but we know who is the main character! Service was great also!

bit of a wait, but worth it. beautiful area and so nice to sit outside. attentive staff who made sure we enjoyed our meal. I got a couple pancakes and they hit the spot. super yummy. just how I like them. wife got a breakfast plate and they had gluten free toast which was awesome. she enjoyed her meal and I was lucky to get to pick at it a bit. she said the latte was a bit underwhelming. I'm not big on coffee so I couldn't say. I don't think we'd hesitate to make another visit here.

packed little brunch place during the weekend but waitlist moved pretty quickly. always enjoyed poached eggs on smoked salmon. instead of toast the base was croissant! potatoes were a good side to munch on, balanced well with the benedict. wish they were cooked more for crispiness though. bacon from classic breakfast was tasty

I had the most delicious pork sandwich. It was a beautiful day outside, my Pup and I sat and enjoyed. I've always wanted to stop here and glad I finally did.

CUTE!!!! Of all the breakfast restaurants we had a choice of, we decided to eat at the Red House Cafe because it was quaint. And, it sure was. It's like eating at your friend's mother home. It had a warm and cozy feeling. I had stuffed myself the night before at Kuma Japanese Restaurant so I just wanted to have a light breakfast, unlike my BF. He had the chorizo and scrambled eggs with avocado and tortilla that he inhaled. I had the breakfast trifle that was delicious to the very last bite. Sounds boring, but it wasn't. I had poured a little maple syrup on top of it! Try it... you may like it! The coffee was plentiful and the service was top notched. The servers were all so very friendly and welcoming. It was so comfy there, I could have stayed a few more hours for lunch.

The entrance, with the book to sign up for a table.

Do they have gluten-free French toast, pancakes, or gluten-free waffles?

What's up with no serving free tap water with breakfast on the weekend?

They need to make their money, somehow, I guess!! Water is quite expensive on the Monterey Peninsula, so I guess that they are trying to balance out their water bill.

Do you have gluten-free bread for sandwiches? Or sourdough bread?

I don't know about gluten-free bread, but they do have sourdough bread.

Do you allow small dogs on the patio?

If they don’t bark or bite, absolutely:)

Are there plenty of outdoor tables?

There's enough outdoor seating and the cute/quaint look is continued outdoors too.

    Do waiters wear masks?

When we visited, staff did not wear masks.

    Do they have Take-away?

    Yes they do.

Is there a bicycle rack close by?

    Yes, in the area

Are there gluten free bread options?

As of June they did not

    Do they serve alcohol?

    Yes

Is this a dog friendly restaurant?

By law animals are not allowed inside any CA restaurant - except service animals. It's a Healy code issue. Dogs are allowed on outdoor patios or where outdoor seating is allowed as long as you can access the area without having to walk through the… Read more

These were cooked to perfection here.) The crab dip was amazing...it's the morning after as I'm typing this and my daughter is still raving about the crab dip. We all agreed that it was worthy of the price tag bc there was a good amount of real crab in it. We really enjoyed the taste and texture. We wished there were more of the garlic bread for dipping!
